Came up to Evanston for a basketball game on campus, and was shocked this place stood out and was fantastic! Huge place - plenty of seating - bar & tables, plenty of parking, great brunch & regular menu to choose from! Our server was amazing, recommended items, let us know about the menus about to change so if we wanted to order breakfast we still could. The vibes were great, food was amazing, I loved the bottled root beer. Bathrooms were very clean. Would highly recommend!

One of the most impressive breweries in terms of space and scenery that I have been to. They have a variety of cars and a story about each one of them. Three separate areas to sit and drink at. Beers were alright. None that were too memorable. Food was very good though!

First time visit. Large space, good parking (private lot and street parking). Really good craft beer. Bartenders were super nice and fast with orders. Space is your somewhat typical sports bar (at least in the area I was in). Looks like they also do trivia nights. Will definitely be back!

The brewmaster here consistently produces exceptional beers. The food however has taken a turn for the worse. The menu is now sandwiches and apps only. The "steak" sandwich at $20 was scarcely thicker than 2 slices of deli roast beef. The "tabouleh" that my wife had as a side was completely gross. As a person of middle eastern descent, and someone who has had this many places and makes it at home, they should be ashamed to serve that as a representation of their brand. The lesson is to come for the amazing beers and really solid apps. Have dinner elsewhere, unless sandwiches for dinner is your thing.

Bingo at Double Clutch and birthdays are the best. We have so Much fun always. Great foods too.

Went for the cars left with their beer! Very cool brewery that has some amazing cars to check out. Staff was awesome from the moment you walked in until you left. Wonderful beer selection, the Hefe was my favorite! Absolutely recommend Pro Tip: the cars on display are probably worth more than the land the brewery sits on. They are THAT awesome! Amazing collection

Ok, this is the joint! At least ten of their own brews with a few guest taps. Food choices were great. Check out the dill pickle soup. There is a stage with live music the night we are there. A handful of classic cars on display. Very cool vibe. Staff was awesome.

We had a fairly random stop for a Saturday beer + lunch. Nice building! It's enormous and has many classic cars scattered around. At the bar we got great service for a couple German beers and some chow. Both really good. Should we find ourselves in the neighborhood again we'll definitely be back.

Never knew about this brewery in Evanston and so glad we found it. A large brewery with indoor and outdoor seating. A collection of antique and classic cars in an area for large groups. My husband had a flight, a selection of lagers, pilsner and of course little juice coupe. They also serve food and had the pulled pork sammy and double clutch burger and clutch curds. The food was better than expected, but a bit pricey. The burger was $19.95!!!. Service was very good . The place was fun and friendly.

Popped down to Evanston for the afternoon, an area that's new to me, so it was my first time at Double Clutch. Definitely a great spot to meet with friends, grab some drinks, and enjoy tasty food. A group of us sat out on the patio, which is a tent-covered area adjacent to the parking lot. I did have a glance inside however, and it's one big space! High ceilings, bright and airy, big long tables. Seemed like a nice atmosphere. Our server, and the support staff running out food, were all very attentive. I opted for a beer first - the choice just felt right since we were at a brewery - and enjoyed hefeweizen; cold and refreshing. I'm not someone who can drink more than one however, as they're really filling so I swapped to a strawberry seltzer. It was pretty good but a bitttt to sweet for my taste. We order some apps to share: cheese curds (always a good idea), buffalo cauliflower wings (really liked these and their spice), and 'turnbuckle' pretzles (soft & warm sticked with a few nice dipping sauces). My friend and I split the steak salad for a main after that, and it was good! Probably not worth the $18 price tag though. I'd come back & bring even more friends! They've got the space, they've got the vast menu for both food and drink, and they've got good service.

I hosted a party last weekend at Double Clutch and i have to say the entire event was phenomenal. The food was amazing, plus there were a multitude of options. The party included guests of all ages and they had a set up and seating plan that accommodated all types. And the service was perfection! I can't recall the last event I was at where ten people came up to me asking if they could add to the tip for the servers. I have to call out Rachel, Gio, Blake, Duncan and Felix for treating 125 guests as if they were family. While I was too busy having a blast at my own party to take many photos, the food was awesome. I had a slider station with 4 different sliders, a skewer station with 5 different skewers, and they arranged to have plenty of vegetarian options at both stations. And my guests all raved about the craft beer options. My grandson is still raving about the Batmobile which was a crowd favorite and in many photos!

This place is a winner for me. It was my first time visiting Double Clutch and it won't be the last. We sat at the bar on a Saturday night. The service was friendly and attentive from both bartenders. They were great at answering questions about their beers, and their suggestions were spot on. For food, we tried the BAVARIAN BURGER and THE SCHNITZEL. Both sandwiches were AMAZING. The sides of BIER-BATTERED SIDEWINDERS were so addicting. For drinks, the Kolsch and the Pilsner were solid. Our bartender recommended the BERLINER WEISSE, which was delightful. Overall, I will come back here for more drinks and delicious food. The place was clean, had a fun vibe, and the service was great. Cheers!

Saturday Special Bavarian Burger (sans Pretzel Bun, they were out) with Pickle Soup, Pulled Pork Sandwich with Sidewinder Fries.

Awesome brewery with fun atmosphere, great friendly service, and fantastic food and beers. Boyfriend and I came on a Saturday night in mid-May for dinner and drinks. The space is large and inviting with a cool array of vintage and classic cars, great for lively groups or quieter chilling in the bar area. Our server was awesome and knowledgeable - all his recommendations were spot-on. Standouts: Their silver-medaled Helles Lager (I'm not usually huge on beer but this was amazing), Saturday Special Bavarian Burger, their Bier-Battered Sidewinder Fries, and Pickle Soup (I was intrigued, and it was excellent with the burger and fries). With Happy Hour times weekdays 3-5pm, event nights like Trivia / Bingo / Karaoke / Music performances, and Weekend Brunch, there's more than enough reason to come back and try everything. Highly recommend. (Accessibility note: Currently on a leg scooter due to casted broken ankle, and it was easy and open enough to maneuver around, use bathroom, etc. Also, staff was so helpful. Hooray Double Clutch! I will be back!)

We wanted a site that was more special than a plain banquet hall and we wanted freedom to make the event our own. We did not want to be in a "wedding reception factory" type place where you have guests from three other weddings filtering in and out of your event. The WCW has a sort of vintage charm. The main room is pretty, with large windows, an ample wooden floor, wooden paneling on the walls, and a large stage. We comfortably fit a wedding with 160 people into the main room. The lights were nice and low for our nighttime reception; I was worried that they would be too bright but they were not. We had our DJ on the main stage. There is a middle room with doors that lead into the main room. In the middle room we set up our bar, photo booth, and candy buffet. Next to that room is a sitting area with lots of couches. There was also a separate room in which the bridal party put their purses and there is a coat room. The women's bathroom is nice. My caterer said that she really liked the size of the kitchen. It was nice working with Mark, who is the site coordinator. There were a couple of areas of the club that could use improvement. The men's bathroom is not aesthetically pleasing at all. The carpet in the middle room is also not a pretty sight, so keep the lights low in that room or cover up the stains with tables or something. Overall, I am happy with the WCW as a reception venue. I would recommend it to someone on a very tight budget who wants something in the north shore area without having to go to a generic banquet hall.

The space is gorgeous on its own -- not a blank slate at all -- so we didn't need nearly as many decorations or flowers as we did at other venues we considered. Our guests raved all day about how beautiful and unique the building was. One of the biggest advantages is that the entire venue is yours for the day. There are no other weddings or events happening at the same time, which makes everything feel calm, special, and centered on your celebration. We had a Sunday brunch wedding, held our ceremony downstairs (very cozy and intimate), and our reception upstairs in the ballroom. The flow between spaces was seamless, and the ballroom floor is amazing for dancing. The sound system was excellent -- speeches and music were crystal clear. Gretchen was wonderful to work with throughout the planning process. She provided vendor recommendations, kept us on track to meet deadlines, and answered all of our questions. We used J&L Catering for our food and Schaffer's for alcohol, and both were excellent and the liquor from Schaffer's was a significant cost savings. Another huge bonus: so many essentials are included with the rental, such as tables, chairs, silverware, and plates. At other venues, those items can be surprisingly expensive to source. Logistically, this location is hard to beat. There are several hotels and great restaurants within walking distance, making it incredibly easy for our out-of-town guests to enjoy an entire weekend in Evanston. Our local guests appreciated that parking is free in Evanston on Sundays and close to the venue. There are also plenty of bathrooms on the same floors where all the events take place -- a small detail that makes a big difference for guest comfort. Finally, it felt meaningful to support a historic building and philanthropic organization rather than a large hotel chain. Overall, we highly recommend The Woman's Club of Evanston as a premier wedding venue in the greater Chicagoland area. We couldn't imagine having celebrated anywhere else.

Our guests kept commenting on the uniqueness of the space, how great it was to have a pianist playing during our cocktail hour on the first floor, and how joyful and bright the ballroom looked. It was honestly beyond anything I imagined. A few extra things of note - our guests stayed at the Graduate Evanston which is barely a block away (no shuttles needed!); there is a huge parking garage across the street so nobody was looking for parking; and have I mentioned how beautiful the space is? I wish I had a reason to throw a huge event again - I would go back to the Women's Club every time. Huge thank you to Gretchen and her team!

Apparently, the center hosts many performing arts programs that include dance, theater, music and more.  When we were viewing artwork of the exhibit, a friendly elderly actor of the center greeted us while taking a break on a comfy couch.  We could hear music rehearsal in the theatre when we passed by. They also have education programs, youth sports programs, a full-service fitness center, classes and lectures -- all kinds of activities that help enrich lives of residents of not just Winnetka, but of the broader North Shore. We had a tour scheduled with Sahra, but it was moved to a different time, which seemed like it may have been to accommodate another group. When we arrived, the front desk gentleman was very kind, but we ended up waiting about 20 minutes while Sahra continued speaking with the previous tour group. She clearly saw us waiting but didn't acknowledge us or apologized when she eventually came over. Once the tour finally started, it felt very rushed. The entire walkthrough lasted maybe 15-20 minutes, and there wasn't much opportunity to ask questions before she quickly moved on to the next area. At the end, I asked if she could send photos of the space set up for weddings so we could better visualize it decorated. Her response was, "I won't remember, just email me--I had three tours today." We were the third tour, which made the comment feel dismissive. What stood out even more was that the previous group had asked about placing a hold on the space and did not receive that same response. Overall, the experience felt unprofessional and unwelcoming. After touring around 20 venues, this was by far the most disappointing experience. As for the space itself, it felt very small and somewhat outdated. The bridal and groomsmen suites were essentially small conference rooms. In my opinion, the venue may be better suited for smaller events like a bridal or baby shower rather than a full wedding. Unfortunately, due to both the service and the space, I would not recommend spending your time touring here.

I haven't had the privilege of seeing any of their adult productions (hopefully soon), but this…read morereview is for their student workshops. I thought it would be fun for my daughter to take a mid summer break from her beloved summer camp and do a week long theater camp. Music Theater Works had come highly recommended and when I saw the first week was Annie (my personal fave) I signed her up...and asked 3 of her friends to join her. She's been in a few shows with a local theater group called Skyline, but I had a feeling this was going to be at a different level...especially since at 8 years old she would be one of the youngest in the group. The student workshops are for kids ages 8-13. I told her to expect a small part (to avoid any disappointment) and to just have fun. Day 1 she came home absolutely delighted that she had scored the part of Annie along with other girls in the cast (they assign several people to the bigger roles to make it manageable to learn in a week). She loved the singing, the dancing, the games...all of it! Day 2 she came home in tears that her Annie part was way smaller than she had expected and she was "not going back and certainly never acting again." After a very long night I convinced her that quitting wasn't an option and sent her on her way the next day. I was hopeful that "the sun would come out tomorrow" ;) I have to give a shoutout to the Workshop Manager, Anya, who took time out of her busy evening to talk thru the issue with me and went out of her way to make my daughter feel better the next day. Day 3 turned out to be a much better one and she had the nerve to ask (after hours of crying on Day 2) if she could do another show this summer. Days 4 and 5 she came home happy, but absolutely exhausted. Who knew that an indoor theater camp would be more exhausting than day camp in the heat? Day 6 was showtime. They had a 2.5 hour rehearsal and then put on a 5 star production (45 minutes long) of Annie for their family and friends . I couldn't believe what they had accomplished in just a week and somehow every single kid (in a cast of 40) knew all their lines, dance moves, etc. -------- Overall, this turned out to be an amazing experience and one that I hope she does again next summer. I actually wish they taught a kids workshop year round because it was such a terrific experience. A few suggestions to make it absolutely perfection: * Give the actual parts when you give the kids their roles to avoid the disappointment that happened to my child (and a few others). * Mic the kids! We were lucky enough to be sitting in the 2nd row so could hear the kids, but those sitting in the back mentioned they could hardly hear anything. I can imagine it's difficult to mic 40 kids, but they were there 2.5 hours early and it's a shame so many parents missed out on hearing their kids. * 40 kids is too many. They mentioned several times that Annie is their most popular show and by far the biggest, but 40 kids didn't allow for all the kids to be on the stage at once (for the bigger dance #s). It also meant there was more downtime in the beginning of the week when everyone was learning their lines/songs, which may have contributed to the day 2 issues. My daughter did mention if she does it again she would prefer a smaller cast so that she could get more stage time, but think they should cut off enrollment after 30 kids for all shows. The good news for anyone looking for a week long activity for their kids is that there is space remaining in the 4 other shows this summer (Fiddler on the Roof, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang & 42nd Street). Your kids will have the best time, learn new skills and you'll be so proud of what they accomplish in such a short time. Thanks to the amazing staff at Music Theater Works.

I typically chaperone large groups on dress rehearsal day. General admission seating only, but we've never had an issue. Looking forward to their Duke Ellington show in October and Peter Pan in December 2017. I highly recommend.

The food and bar service were excellent . Several of our guests mentioned how impressed they were with the unique venue. We highly recommend Halim for events like ours!

It was on our list of wedding venues to tour--we arrived, and immediately fell in love. The staff was extremely professional and worked efficiently throughout the process. They answered every single question, and accommodated us when annotating the contract, helping us schedule and track payments, preparing the timeline for the day of, and helped us figure out a LOT of last minute changes. They offered a time for a walk through and assistance with setup the day before, which made the day of the wedding so much less stressful. They take care of EVERYTHING; set up, tear down, linens, place settings, table numbers, water, wine, changing courses, bridal suite, the bar, you name it! We just had to walk in and enjoy. The food was restaurant-quality - no banquet halls here! Many people emphatically said that was the best food they had ever had at a wedding. The menu tasting was a wonderful experience guided by the Chief of Staff, and included a personal visit from the chef near the end. There are many great food and wine options, it was hard to limit ourselves to just a few! The staff was very helpful in accommodating our guests with dietary restrictions and allergies; if one of the food choices would not work, they created a special alternative dish for them at no extra charge. They were so organized, they even remembered to not drizzle honey on one of our guest's dessert. I checked with every single one of our guests who needed an accommodation, and every single one was fulfilled. We even had a guest who was arriving late; his food was kept warm and brought out immediately when he arrived. As the bride and groom, we got to sit at the head table with our personal Head Waiter, Justin, who was awesome. He made sure our water and wine glasses were always full, and would personally deliver them to us throughout the night whether we were chatting at a table or in the middle of the dance floor. He said he was there if we needed anything, and he always jumped in to help with a smile. Our guests repeatedly told us how beautiful, elegant, and classy the venue was. The Tiffany Room and first floor galleries were the perfect setup for cocktail hour, and everyone loved the gorgeous glasswork (and open bar). The Wisteria room, bathed in candlelight, with a view of the Chicago Skyline, was perfect for dinner and dancing. The staff was professional and helpful, and the entire event ran smoothly. We specifically wanted a venue that would "do it all" so we didn't have to, and Halim Time and Glass Museum absolutely delivered. We treasure the experience we had on our special day and thank Jessica and all of the staff for making it the perfect experience.
