We had the most wonderful experience at the Community House. All of the staff was easy to work with and helped us with a difficult catering situation. The photos speak to the venue itself!

Had our wedding reception this summer at Winnetka Community House and it was a truly great experience. We were looking to have an indoor/outdoor wedding, WCH provides just that. The exterior courtyard is beautiful, the interior is comfortable after some personal touches and decoration. Patrice, Mary and the maintenance crew were super friendly and helpful. We did our own decorating and they were more than happy for us to come by multiple times before our date to brainstorm and do some trial runs with our decor. Only advice would be to have more staff versed in how to set/adjust the lighting inside. Everything else was perfect.

I attended a wedding here a week ago and just received a child's birthday party invitation for the same place in the same week! The wedding was stunning and the garden was the perfect place for an early fall wedding - the wedding itself was simply gorgeous. However, I do have to admit that two bars right next to each other for 175 guests wasn't that great and it would have been better to have one bar on one side of the garden and another bar on the other side. The food was pretty good and each course was thoroughly enjoyable - my favorite part was dessert was not only the wedding cake but also a palate cleansing sorbet. Parking wasn't too bad considering that they had a free parking lot which filled up pretty quickly and street parking was decent. We'll see how the five year old's birthday party goes in comparison to the beautiful wedding.

People keep telling us how perfect our wedding was, and I absolutely credit that to this beautiful venue and amazing food by Catered by Design, their exclusive caterer. We had our cocktail hour, dinner, and dancing all outside in the Arches Garden, and luckily for us, the weather was perfect and we didn't need to use the tent that we reserved. I can't imagine a more romantic place for a wedding than the incredibly lush walled garden. The photos were perfect from every angle, and we were able to save on decorations because the garden itself is so beautiful. The venue is the perfect size for about 125 guests with a dance floor, a stage, and and a bar. Nikee and Mallory from Catered by Design were amazing to work with, and they helped plan a classy and abundant spread as well as giving guidance on venue layouts and decorations. I loved that based on their experience with this venue, they were able to help us avoid spending money on unnecessary decor. [Believe me--this venue is gorgeous on its own! Things like cafe lights (which are likely to cost more than 1k to have installed), are definitely superfluous.] These ladies are so much fun to work with, and they will always give you their honest opinion. And you should listen to them!! They know what they're talking about. And if you're like us and want to gamble on the weather in order to have a fully outdoors wedding, they are on your side and will keep their fingers crossed for no rain. Do it. You will not find a more beautiful venue in all of the Chicago area.

I needed to bribe myself with coffee I didn't make myself and to get out of my house to plow through a bunch of work admin. I took a chance coming here because I know they have some laptop policies, particularly around Christmas. This time it was no laptops after 9am and then none on Friday and weekends during the holiday season. (During the rest of the year it's certain tables that aren't allowed to use laptops and/or certain tables at certain hours). I came in at 7am and it was good motivation for me to knock out a bunch of things efficiently since I have a 9am cutoff lol. They also now put that notice on their front door, which is helpful and was my complaint last year when I came here to do work on a Saturday and found out I couldn't. As always, the coffee was great, and the Home Alone installation is always fun. Their tartines are also always amazing. Definitely keeping this in my regular rotation.

I brought my own honey to drizzle on it! Next, I thought I'd try the pancakes. They were okay - light but not so fluffy. I'm used to a fluffier pancake - I make them regularly at home. Beating the eggs and letting the batter sit for several minutes enables the pancake to rise and accentuates the 'cake' of pancake.

It's majestic and stunning, esp with the sun shining through. 3) It's only 6 blocks from Lake Michigan! We took advantage of this for our wedding photos. 4) The cozy fireplace inside. 5) It's located right off the Metra... and right around the corner from Homer's Ice Cream. We found a hidden gem in the KC and are so glad we found it for our wedding ceremony and reception. Brittany provided a thorough tour when we first visited the space, and manager Kris was really responsive to my needs, especially in the week before the big day. And lastly, major props to Nick, who held the fort down on the night of the wedding and ensured everything went smoothly! P.S. It's said the interior can hold a party of 200, but that would be really cramped. We had 134 and filled the space pretty fully (without tables being pushed into the front lobby area).

The venue is beautiful, historic, and well-maintained, yet the pricing and contract requirements are completely reasonable and fair. We felt comfortable and at home from that very first visit. We also found an excellent caterer (Catered by Design) from their preferred catering list. Monique was a dream to work with--so organized and punctual yet laid-back and flexible. We received so many compliments on the venue from our guests. While we opted to have both our ceremony and reception indoors, Monique allowed us to open up the lawn and patio to guests for cocktail hour, which was absolutely stunning and a huge hit. I would recommend Kenilworth to anyone looking for a wedding venue!

We wanted a site that was more special than a plain banquet hall and we wanted freedom to make the event our own. We did not want to be in a "wedding reception factory" type place where you have guests from three other weddings filtering in and out of your event. The WCW has a sort of vintage charm. The main room is pretty, with large windows, an ample wooden floor, wooden paneling on the walls, and a large stage. We comfortably fit a wedding with 160 people into the main room. The lights were nice and low for our nighttime reception; I was worried that they would be too bright but they were not. We had our DJ on the main stage. There is a middle room with doors that lead into the main room. In the middle room we set up our bar, photo booth, and candy buffet. Next to that room is a sitting area with lots of couches. There was also a separate room in which the bridal party put their purses and there is a coat room. The women's bathroom is nice. My caterer said that she really liked the size of the kitchen. It was nice working with Mark, who is the site coordinator. There were a couple of areas of the club that could use improvement. The men's bathroom is not aesthetically pleasing at all. The carpet in the middle room is also not a pretty sight, so keep the lights low in that room or cover up the stains with tables or something. Overall, I am happy with the WCW as a reception venue. I would recommend it to someone on a very tight budget who wants something in the north shore area without having to go to a generic banquet hall.

This is just the sort of laid back and easy to work with venue you want to have for a big event.

I've…read morealso toured the building, and I have to say each time I set foot in the front lobby I'm reminded of how spectacular Takiff is... we're talking a first class facility that's as clean as a hospital (in a good way). Takiff is a huge space that consists of a bunch of rooms for classes, for kids to adults, like art, yoga, cooking, enrichment programs, and I think there is even a pottery studio. The gym is oversized for sports activities and events (I don't think they allow food or drink in there). Today I saw how organized their staff is when it comes to managing the many kids coming in and out of the building for day camp. For those thinking of signing up for a program, the team seems to really have their act together. Everyone is lovely and professional. Aside from the various classes and classrooms, GJK is onsite, and I think they also have another Park District preschool. Wiggleworms hosts music classes here too. Though I haven't actually seen the beach rentals, I've seen pictures. Inside there is a more formal room in Takiff with gorgeous windows and high ceilings, fit for a beautiful wedding reception or other formal event. The main level party room with a stage seems like it would be great for kids birthday parties. So much to do and see. I could go on and on, but you'll just need to go check it out for yourself! If you're coming from the north, the turn is a bit tricky, so keep your eyes peeled for the entrance. Parking lot onsite.

I'd love to see some more mommy/caregiver & me classes on the calendar since there's not much for the under 2 crowd in the North Shore. I also think their creative bday party packages are amazing, but the rental fee if you want just the space is a bit high when compared to all the park district rooms nearby (not that the PD rooms are nearly as adorable).
