We were staying nearby for a long weekend getaway in Chicago. After a long travel day, we were seeking some nourishment, so we hit up Broken Tee. There was street parking available out front for us, but I could imagine parking would be tougher during the warmer months! This spot was fairly simple inside, with a variety of tables, exposed brewing machinery, and loosely golf-themed decor. The service was friendly and efficient, even though the space was pretty busy with a trivia night happening. We ordered two beers: their Schwarz beer and a Hazy IPA! Both tasted great. We also ordered the Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich and the Cheesesteak, which both came with a lovely serving of fries. The sandwiches were very tasty and the accompanying sipping sauces (Hot Honey and Chipotle Aioli) were awesome! Overall, a wonderful, no-frills spot for a bite and a sip! Nothing to blow your socks off, but also not much to critique! We would definitely return! read more

Really cute brewery in Highwood. There's lots of indoor seating across two rooms and a public park across the street where the kids can play! 5 stars for the bartender and the on-tap hard seltzers that come in many flavors. I had blood orange and lemon lime and would get them again, especially in the summer. Unfortunately, I didn't like the beers I tried as they have higher IBUs than I typically like. The shwartzbier was the best and I opted for hard seltzers instead. I would definitely come back! read more

This brewery is located in downtown Highwood. It is golf themed, but they could have played up the golf theme a bit more. When you walk in you pass the fermenter and tanks and it looks a bit messy. There are two rooms, bar seating and outdoor seating. We placed our order at the bar and with only one server on a busy Sunday afternoon, it took awhile to order. My husband tried the Shanktastic-Sour, it was very sour. I had the Swing Hard Seltzer - Arnold Palmer. They both were good ,but served in plastic cups. They do offer food and we tried Trio - Pretzel Bites, Elote Bites, and Fried Cheese Curds. The Elote Bites were overly fried and too crispy and dry . Once again, if Yelp offered half stars, I would probably give this place two and a half stars. My wife and I sat at the bar and ordered a flight of three IPAs (my preferred style) and one sour (my wife's preference). The three IPAs ranged in taste from not-so-good to good. None of three were great, nor were they terrible. My wife wasn't too impressed with her sour, however. The reason for the less than five star review is (and I'm surprised nobody has really mentioned this in other reviews) that the place just doesn't seem particularly clean. At the bar, our elbows stuck to it and there was a fly that was flying around the bar the whole time we were there. The exposed beer-making area is unsightly and happens to be a right turn of your head as you walk through the entrance. My wife commented about some nastiness in the women's bathroom that wasn't extreme, just could've used some extra attention. So, while I wouldn't mind going back to explore other IPAs in the future, the thought of unsightliness and stickiness, etc. will probably not let that happen. read more

Outstanding beer. Stopped in for a quick try and wow, delicious. Had one IPA called Hop Swing and check, and one cold IPA (Cold Swing). Great IPA's both, more hazy style (which is our personal favorite). Great location, light, bright and easy family ambiance. Very personable and friendly barkeep, great service. Golf themed brewery. It's a pretty unique concept, except in Highwood. Broken Tee of course has a golf theme going on, so if you like playing or watching, this may be a good place to come. Has a pretty good selection of beers on tap even though there's not a lot. There's also appetizers and other snacks. For a small brewery it has a good selection on tap to choose from. It's not like there's lots of room for a bunch, so they make up for it. There's still a pretty good variety. It's about $7 a pint, so not bad for a craft brewery. We liked the One Hop N Cit, which is a single hop IPA. Also there's food. It's about $7 for the Hummus With Pita Chips, which is simple yet good to munch on. Has other meaty items such as poutine and stuff from the fryer. They can take awhile getting stuff because it's a small place and there's not as much room. Has to be one of the better breweries around here. It's a small one but the beers are good quality and so is the food at pretty good prices. We found Broken Tee by chance and it's quickly become our go-to when we're in the area (and sometimes when we're not). We golf and love craft beer, so we were sold on the concept. The service is fantastic! The owner Paul is as nice as they come, he stopped to chat golf recs during a busy dinner rush. The food - I can't say enough! Everything we've had has been amazing, and we've tried quite a bit of the menu - buffalo wings, Philly cheesesteak, and Highwood hot chicken sandwich fall into our tops! This is a great brewery and the food is outstanding also. Second time here and the $14 burger, fries and choice of beer is delicious on a Tuesday night special. They must fry their fries in something special - taste delicious and so crispy. Most of all the bartenders are always super kind and they really make you feel welcome. LOVE Broken Tee!! Lovely rotating beers and wonderful food! Most breweries have the stereotypical bar food, but Broken Tee has incredible food specials that also rotate. We were lucky enough to come in when Paul (the friendliest owner) was running a Chicken Bacon Ranch Sandwich that had house made dill ranch. Our usual go to is a Philly Cheesesteak on hoagie bread with an Italian Pilsner to pair with. We usually come in for Trivia night on Wednesdays, but they definitely have other weekly events, as well. They just opened so it seems like a limited beer menu with only 5 choices and some seltzers available but I'm sure they will add more with time. The quality is good. The employees are casual and friendly. They don't offer flights but again that might happen in the future. The location in downtown Highwood is great and they are right across from the train station. I love the simple industrial look but with funky pops of color design. I love the wood rough edge counter seating and they also have outdoor seating. I also love the open design where you can see the beer tanks. At first you don't know there is a whole back room to sit but it's a big place once informed. All in all great location, nice atmosphere, great seating options and quality beer. I love the fruited wit beer and the IPA's seemed the way I like them not too bitter. Finally had a chance to stop in at Broken Tee for a very quick visit before dinner down the street. Vibrant and busy at 5:30 on a cold Saturday, with families (a good good menu for kids) and couples. Small but good beer menu, and the One Hop Stop IPA I had was delicious. Fresh, not too juicy, and perfect bitterness. We didn't eat, but the small food menu looked good for enjoying a few beers. Owner and staff behind the bar were terrific. Nice environment inside, too. Spacious and clean and light. We'll be back. read more

This is such a cool little brewery. The owner is on site majority of the time and just a small-town, humble guy. I can sense community is ultra important to him.
