Great place for local craft beers, and there's a pretty chill atmosphere. Harbor is the best place to get beer in Winthrop Harbor, whether at the taphouse or at the beer garden in the marina on the lakefront. It gets pretty busy, but there's plenty of outdoor seating in the patio, so it's okay. Also has plenty of cocktails if not wanting any beers. There's also entertainment such as live music. Among the most popular places to go in town, because you can't get better beers. It's really got a couple locations: the taphouse on Sheridan and the beer garden located in North Point Marina. The taphouse is open in winter, and the beer garden is open in summer. It's about $7 a pint. Many styles are on tap. Last time I had the Speed Czech. This is a lager, and it was crisp and smooth. Has many pretty good beers. It has no food except snacks like pretzels, but you can bring in something from one of the restaurants around here. The harbor location was a godsend during covid and it continues to be a great hang space, friendly staff, good drinks, dog friendly, good music. I think this was my favorite place during the summer. Beautiful marina view, great drinks and live music? Sign me in please! Also dog and family friendly? Yes, I am in!! The brewery indoor space is small, but it as an amazing biertgarten with plenty of space for everyone to enjoy their drinks and the view. They have a great variety of beers -not a small list, neither a four pages menu where you get lost- They also have some cocktails and sometimes over the weekend they host foodtrucks. Usually live music during the weekends and activities, also a lot of boardgames. Plenty of free parking. The place is family and pet friendly, so kinda fits everyone. This isn't a standard brewery in any sense of the term. It's a beer garden, and a nice one at that. This Harbor Brewing location offers an enormous variety including close to 20 of their beers on tap, 10 additional guest beers, another ten varieties in can. If you enjoy beer they have a wide palate that would suit anyone. I enjoy the darks and couldn't say no to After Parti, an American Stout that's super dark and silty, just the way I like them. It's raspy and smooth all at once, making it super drinkable and enjoyable. And the 5.5% ABV allows you to have several without getting into trouble. As they poured this beer for me, I noticed that they had a part 2 of this craft, which is the peanut butter and vanilla version. I was only here for one beer, but if I had the time I would have had a glass of that as well. All in all there were easily ten Harbor crafts that I wanted to try. As for the ambience, it's all outdoor seating (or about 99% of it)...deck side with fireplace, harbor-side over looking the boats, and a grassy area where they offered a ton of picnic tables and bean bag boards for those who wanted to play. They also have a tent set up that served hot dogs and burgers, and maybe some other foods. Neat area back here, I suspect we'll be back more than once. Cheers! read more

Just very hometown, local establishment where everyone treats you like family the defund you walk in. They typically have 11-12 brews on tap at all times! There is also wine, cider, and white claw as an option for non brew drinkers. There is ample seating, board games, darts and slots at the brewery. Highly recommended. It's nice to have another craft brew option in the northern Lake County area, especially one that has the possibility of a hazy IPA on their tap list. Good beers, various live music (the night we went involved a cover band accepting requests TRL-style), and the service was very good. They've got a couple of games and in the back room they were playing some weird video channel that involved goats bouncing on a trampoline. SCORE! No food service, but I'm guessing you can bring stuff in. I'll be back to find out and hopefully the goats will be on TV again. read more

Came in yesterday (Tuesday)after a long tiring swim in lake MI with a good friend. McKayla was great. (Correct spelling I hope ..?) Had a great conversation about the current state of events, other topics including UFO sightings (), effects of being overtired, and astronomy. She Recommended we try one-of-the-best beers I've ever had . (Twice hah) Thought the bar was great, and that was a good experience. She was very courteous and knowledgeable about the drink offerings. A buddy and i tried three micro-breweries in one night...two just up the road in Kenosha, and this, our final stop. Seemed to have been a tour group of some sort at the place..because it was full. Very bright inside...would be nice if they could dim the lights, or unscrew a third of the bulbs. Being this was the last stop of the evening, i went with a lighter beer. Tasted Okay... not sure if it was the beer or I just didn't feel like drinking anymore but I only drink half. We sat around for an hour watched the baseball game and left. Place is very clean, staff/owner is friendly. I'll give you another shot someday and order a Hefeweizen. read more

We got to chat with the co-owner, Joe, when we sat at the bar and learned a lot about the beers we missed. Worth a stop on your way to or from Milwaukee or Chicago, as well as throughout Lake County. Not an employee and not an owner, more like an investor ,you see I rent a mug and drink many of there concoctions and enjoy many ,and the people who run it are fun and nice.
