Just went to this place by chance cause I saw they served Pho and where I go with my family is super far wanted to try it out and I wasn't disappointed! We ordered chicken Pho, grilled shrimp with cold noodles and chicken fried rice! The service was very good lady was beyond polite definitely going back with my husband. read more

I am now a regular here at double bamboo, full disclosure. The pho here is clean, no msg, very consistent. Staff is super friendly the lady who owns it is very sweet. Also had the pad thai, above average, though its pho 95% of the time. Recommend the cheese vegetable egg rolls too. Good family owned spot. read more

Love their pho! They give you the little green onions which I prefer over the big white ones, plenty of cilantro and best of all they never skimp on the bean sprouts, lemons, greens and jalapeños. The pad see ew here is delicious as well. Another competitor in the Cypress area cooks theirs with too much oil but not here! It's saucy not greasy! I have to come back for the pad thai and to taste other foods... Not a huge fan of the satay beef, but then again they make it different everywhere. The combination fried rice is good but last time the chicken was a little on the dry side and not marinated or flavored so I wasn't super into it. Overall I love this place because my two favorite dishes are amazing and the customer service here is great! We order for takeout so I haven't sat down but the lady at the register is always very friendly and offers us water while we wait or if we call in an order it's always ready right as we arrive! read more

Yooooo I'm STILL SITTING IN THE RESTAURANT. I felt compelled to save people from this atrocity that I whipped out my phone mid meal. This is to all my discerning Vietnamese palettes out there- this is NOT pho. My bowl of noodles came out with vegetables in it, not just cilantro and onion as garnish. I had bell peppers, broccoli and napa cabbage floatin' around in my bland broth with no aroma!!!! Wtf?? 0/10 would skip if looking for pho in this neighborhood. 2 stars for polite service and the dish was edible if you don't call it pho. Disappointing. read more

The owner asked us to leave our credit card at their restaurant because their credit card machine was down and we had no cash. We ended up running to a meaty ATM and got money. How inconvenient!! It was only a $15 bill. Why can't you let your customers come back and pay later? read more

I don't know why some people gave this place a low rating. It changed names/ownership sometime last year and my husband and I started going when it changed to Double Bamboo. The pho is amazing and they give you a lot of meat. The waiter is extremely courteous and attentive. The egg rolls are FANTASTIC! This is our place of choice for pho. read more

Pho was okay. If I have no other options then this is okay to go. But rice dish was better. Their rice dishes portion seems bigger than other places. The place is clean and in a big plaza where parking isn't a problem. Services are okay; they are friendlier and nicer than other viet places in little saigon. I love this place my kids and I try to eat here at least once a week! It's family owned and they are such nice people. I have been going to this place for lunch. There is a good Vegetarian selection, a dedicated section of the menu in fact.. though, sadly no vegetarian broth for the pho.. So far i have ordered the tofu fried rice, lemongrass tofu and the veggie pad thai.. My favorite was the lemongrass tofu for sure but the others are really good as well.. good tofu, quality ingredients and super nice folks that run the place.. ice tea refills abound!! clean and nice inside with daytime TV during lunch hours.. soap operas with the sound off are always fun to watch.. read more

Update: I have been back several times now, and the pho is back up to the standard I expect from the restaurant. I'm still a bit disappointed in the meat portion of the bowl, but the quality is very god and rest of the proportions are satisfactory. I have not been back for the conventional spring rolls, so I have no new judgment on their shrimp quantity. The reason is that I've taken a fancy to their "Double Bamboo egg rolls", which have a bunch of stuff inside of them I don't plan to ask about but they are oh, so very, very, yummy. They're getting decent business at lunchtime, and I even stopped in recently for a "to go" order on Sunday, where I was surprised to find a large number of patrons. This probably bodes well for them being able to sustain the business. So they get another star from me now. They still need more chicken in the soup, but the great egg rolls offset that deficiency. (Original, 16 November 2012) Formerly Pho Today, this restaurant is I think the fourth successive Vietnamese eatery in this location in the past six years. The menu has remained mostly unchanged in that time, as have the prices and the decor. The business no doubt changes hands because the former proprietors tire of working so hard for so little return. Despite the food generally having been okay, the location is poor and repeat business is generally limited to employees of companies in the local businesses parks who come out for lunch. What separates this ownership from the previous three is that the food quality has taken a noticeable step down. Meat portions in the pho have been cut back, and at least for my meal, the cook didn't bother to keep what goes into the soup free of bones and gristle. There are fewer shrimp in the spring roll than what the previous owners put in. They have interfered with the balance of the meal, in the wrong direction, I suppose in the interest of saving a little money. And that's a pity, because it's no longer worth visiting right now, previous commenter's planted rave notwithstanding. I'll come back in a few weeks and see if they have stepped up their game, and I'll update (or not) my review accordingly. read more

The Pho was fair, not super tasty or fresh, but not bad either. The service was excellent and very fast and the prices were good as well. The location is convenient if you are in Stanton, but if you are willing to drive just 10 minutes you could be in Westminster and could drop-in to nearly any of the dozens of great pho places there. read more

I as hungry for some thai food and didn't want to drive anywhere too far. Since this place is a block from my house I decided to check it out. I ordered take out, the combination fried rice, thai chicken basil dish, and the green curry. The chicken basil dish was alright and the green curry was good....but i've tasted better at other thai places. Now, the combination fried rice wasnt very good. It tasted very bland. I would give this place a 3 star for the food but i decided to add another star due to the customer service. When i went there, there was a young guy at the register who was very friendly. While I was waiting for my food to go, he gave me a cup of iced water. I really like that, and I guess I just like the fact that he seemed soo friendly and attentive. I would recommend this place again. The food was okay/decent and the pricing was decent as well. And good customer service. read more

I've eaten here about 3 times so far, and each time has been great. They have great portions, decent prices, friendly and fast service, great tasting food. And they are much cleaner than a lot of other asian restaurants i've been to. I agree with Jim G's review totally. Normally, i feel pretty gross after dining out because restaurants tend to load their food with MSG and unnecessary amounts of salt to make their food taste better, however, I can taste that Double Bamboo uses quality, real ingredients to achieve taste rather than MSG. I don't get that "geez the food may have tasted good but I can totally feel their food was artificial" feeling, nor do I find myself having to drink glasses and glasses of water after eating here, as I normally do after dining out. Their vermicelli with pork is great, and what i like most about it is that the fish sauce they serve on the side is not overly fishy or vinegary. It's got an excellent balance of sweet, salty, and acidic elements. It doesn't have that overpowering, "wore shoes without socks" feet smell that a lot of other vietnamese restaurants tend to have in the sauce they serve with vermicelli. Their beef curry is fantastic and you can actually taste the amazing coconut in it. Spring rolls are perfectly sized and they aren't overloaded with rice noodles and lettuce in an attempt to make it appear bigger and greater. Tom yum soup was delicious too, and the mushrooms they add in it is a great touch. Each time I came to eat here, the place was empty, but I think it's because not enough people have given this place a chance. I know this place was previously another restaurant, so maybe people have had bad experiences but honestly, Double Bamboo is a legit restaurant that just needs to get known. Their 10% off entire menu is an added bonus and I only hope more and more people find out about this place and dine here. read more

2nd time here. Ordered the chicken hot plate and it was tremendously tasty. Food arrived extremely quickly and i was caught off guard, sadly looking like a phone dependent person. The staff here is really nice and friendly but hardly speak/understand English. The only food I would recommend would be the egg rolls, they're really good when they fry them right but there's been a couple times I've ordered them to go and they weren't as good, sometimes soggy. The last time I ordered to go they didn't close the lid of the sauce container inside the box properly and I got home to open a box of soggy egg rolls soaked in sauce. Horrible experience, went there for the first time cause I saw the good reviews on yelp but their service sucks. I called ahead to place my order. Was told it would be ready in 20 minutes so I went 30 minutes later to give them 10 extra minutes & my food was still not ready, 45 minutes later I'm still waiting for my food that I called ahead for. Also asked them for their Iced Coffee with milk & they didn't even fill it up to the top, I asked the girl to fill it up & all she did was pretend to put more coffee & just added more ice. Went I got to my office they didn't even give me the right soup I ordered. Again horrible experience, horrible service & the soup was horrible. I am sorry for my rating, but it was the one of worst Pho I've ever had. Broth had no flavor at all, noodles were not al dente. I ordered Seafood Pho and only things I got were 3 rings of squid, 3 shrimps, 2 fish balls and 4 imitation crabs. I can't believe they charged this for $8!!! After I had this, I just couldn't get the horrible no flavor taste of broth out of my mouth. Maybe, it was too much MSG....yikes! read more

DB is my to-go place for lunch. I absolutely love their Pho with chicken broth & tofu and tofu spring rolls; I never feel guilty eating out when I have tofu for lunch! Their broth is not watered down and just perfect with the added veggies and splash of lime. read more
