I'm happy to have found this shop! I was looking for a specific cupcake - "cookies and cream" for a custom Star Wars bday dessert. Upon arriving, I noticed the dessert shop was within a cafe which was well decorated and cozy. I came in on a weekday afternoon, it wasn't too busy. They also provide a lot of cute last minute party favors and accessories - it definitely came in handy as I needed candles and some matches! Overall, we enjoyed the texture and sweetness of the cupcake.
First off, beautiful ambiance to sit down in and friendly staff. Hadn't been here for about 3yrs. so I was shocked with the price changes in cupcakes. I remember the mini cupcakes were a dollar less each. I was bummed out to see that the Fleur de Sel no longer contains himalayan pink salt but regular salt dyed pink. I think what sealed the deal was that it wasn't moist or that is wasn't rich in anyway. Seems like Betty Crocker in my opinion. The carrot mini cupcake was good but not anything I'd think to recommend though. All others don't seem so fresh.
This reveal is exclusively for the cupcakes. Parking is OK as the parking lot is usually busy, but you will not find any issues in the residential area. I am typically very picky about cupcakes and it was a very bummed out that sprinkles closed. I have tasted other cupcakes in the past and dots cupcakes actually hits the spot. They have a daily rotation of special selections as well as a standard flavor selection. I tried it out the Velvet, tiramisu, and coconut cupcakes. They are actually really good, and the quality and ratio between the frosting and cupcake itself was on point. The pricing is fair, considering the quality of the cupcakes. I called them on the phone ahead of time to verify inventory and the service was actually really good. The store is separated by two different lines one for the café and the other for the cupcakes. Make sure you line up in the right line for the best service. I will definitely return.
This charming bakery in Pasadena specializes in both mini and standard-sized cupcakes, and trust me, you won't be able to resist their delectable treats. Customer Service 5/5 's As soon as you step inside, you'll be greeted by the delightful aroma of freshly baked cupcakes and excellent customer service. Cupcake Ratings: 5/5 's Each cupcake is baked to perfection, giving the perfect balance of moistness, flavor, and sweetness. My personal favorite were the Red Velvet and Carrot Cake Public parking and a great plus they validate for up to 30 mins so your parking will be free. Overall feel is warm and inviting and they have a small area of you want to eat there The decor is beautiful and you can enjoy your treats inside or take them to go.
I have been a Dots customer for years and maybe this review is long overdue . I love everything about this small business , from the customer services and their above and beyond care mentality. The cupcakes are always a huge hit at all my events , parties and gatherings. Whether I choose to go with a large or mini cupcake selection the sugar is never overpowering on either size and they use just the right about of frosting. The frosting might I say is fluffy/ buttery and not dense blob of sugar sitting on top. Now let's talk about the design... if you order from DoorDash, they make sure to put a little bit of every flavor, in every box, with every decor that you can possibly think of , which is a delight when the little ones open the box and see the cutest little cupcake staring back at them. If you decide to go to the store obviously, you will have a bigger selection to choose from, equally beautiful and delicious. I highly recommend Dots for your next event , cupcake craving....only just because it's pretty good and I love supporting small businesses who put a lot of care in their product to make people like me smile .
Received a dozen of the mini assorted cupcakes as a gift. They were delivered by door dash and came perfectly packaged. The box was dropped but surprisingly the cupcakes were secured and made it perfectly okay. Delicious first of all! How do you choose a cupcake when you have 12 different flavors to choose from??? Even though they were mini cupcakes they were packed with flavor!
When you walk in, you are greeted by a beautiful display case. If you dont want a regular size cupcake, they have minis for 2 bucks. The passiom fruit has passion filling and taste amazing. They close at 6 on Sundays, so its enough time to eat then treat yourself!
I've never stepped in their shop before but I often receive these cupcakes as gifts or have them at other people's birthday parties. The cupcakes are beautifully decorated and although the minis are small in size, the frosting can still be a little much if you're not too keen on sweets. My favorite flavor so far is their chocolate salted caramel but I of course have to scrape off most of the frosting to enjoy it lol
Probably the best darn cupcakes! The carrot cake WAS SOOO GOOD! It was moist, it was flavorful, it was delicious. They presentation is nice. Red velvet was delicious, rich w/ a great frosting. Definitely recommend!

I tried the Mostess, carrot, red velvet, and Choco butter cupcakes. The cupcakes were just OK, they are definitely on the sweeter side especially the frosting. Honestly I was expecting the cupcakes to be more like Sprinkles but in my opinion, it does not compare. When I went to the store at 4, most of the cupcakes were sold out so they only had a few options left. I really wanted to try the carrot cake flavor but the regular sized ones were all gone so I had to settle for two mini cupcakes. The frosting itself was good but the chunks of sugar on top made it unevenly sweet. Most people seem to like it so maybe my expectations were just too high. They are very cute though. read more

Fresh baked cupcakes daily? Yes they are! Second time to go here and everytime I step foot, I'm instantly brought to a happy place. From the colorful wall decor to the beautiful line up of delectable cupcakes, it'll trigger your sweet tooth fantasies! During superbowl, I tried their Chocolate Bacon (Barker's choice) and dulce de leche. I went back today to get more of the Chocolate bacon but they only bake it on special occasions. I love how the bacon chunks worked so well with the chocolate; there's a generous amount of bacon too for every bite. The dulce de leche is how I imagined it but not as sweet as I have gotten it in the past in other places; it felt light in my palate, in a good way - I could've easily had 2 more! Today, I bought carrot cupcake and strawberry shortcake. I destroyed that carrot cupcake within seconds. Haha. It was so good. I didn't feel so guilty after. You can really taste the freshness of the cupcake. I had given the strawberry shortcake to my mom and she loved it too! She said the icing tasted great! Highly recommend this place for all my sweetholics out there! I know places like this are not drawn towards "guys" but for all my homeboys out there, your girl will appreciate a cupcake or two or you just take her here as a surprise! She will absolutely love you for it!!!! read more

Patty cake patty cake bakers man. Bake me a cake as fast as you can! Typically designed to serve one person but after having just one these little morsels of goodness you'll end up taking a dozen or more. A small quaint shop along the main strip with honey combed shaped interior on one side and a window pane with other knick knacks on the opposite side. This little shop offers a variety of interesting flavors and specials. Go for a regular sized cupcake or try their cute little minis that will hit the spot but only if you have self control. But wait...No self control? Ok, so the typical box starts off at six and builds up to a twenty four pack. And after writing that you should be covered with experiencing all the flavors on the shelf. They also offer tiers if your looking to deck them all out a special occasion. The service here is fair and will leave it at that. But in the end of it all the cupcakes make up for it. That's my take. Peace read more

One of my go to bakeries for cupcakes! I've been coming to Dots for years and nothing has changed. The cake itself is moist and not overly sweet and their decorations are super cute. I normally order for special occasions, I ordered a few dozen for the office this holiday season and everyone loved them. I received a lot of compliments about how cute the cupcakes were. They were a huge hit. They also sell doggy cupcakes as well and my fur baby loves them! read more

The self proclaimed cupcake connoisseur wants to dislike this place but the Korean in me wants to love it. (I'm pretty sure the owner is this sweet, adorable Korean lady. She works behind - I think her daughter?) I bought a dozen mini cupcakes around mid-day and the aroma of the bakery made me so happy! The decorations are adorable! They had a few animals and other cute designs. The cupcakes are expensive but they aren't dry as many have proclaimed. (Or at least mine were not) The unfortunate matter is that they use a real cheap vanilla extract that gives it a very fake vanilla taste. It's very noticeable in the Red Velvet which makes the overall red velvet taste get mixed in the shuffle of flavors. I will however admit, the cupcake icing wasn't as sweet as most cupcakes which I really admired! The whole experience of eating these cupcakes reminded me of my mom's cupcakes - and this the 3 stars. read more
We had the best mini cupcakes in the shop located in Pasadena. The carrot cake was moist and flavorful. We've been going from one cupcake place to the next all day in the Pasadena area. Dots was tops. So we ordered a several dozens mini cupcakes, several different flavors, for my daughter's birthday. I told the guess how great these cupcakes were. I decided to have a couple of these cupcakes, they looks so delicious and beautiful. To my surprise they were dry and nothing like what we had at the shop. Needless to say I was disappointed and a little embarrassed. I do recommend going to the shop for some yummy cupcakes but I do not recommend the catering order. read more
After trying so many cupcakes places I have to say Dot's is my favorite. Not too sweet and fluffy moist cake. I have been able to try some new ones and I been in love with their Chocolate raspberry that they only have on Wednesday and Thursday. My husband is such a sweetie and had Dot deliver me a valentine day package, filled with cute and yummy cupcakes, a reusable bag and a sparkler. Parking can be tricky but I like my cupcakes from the Fairoaks location. Thank you again Dots!! read more

On a recent trip to Pasadena, I stopped by this spot as I heard they had great cupcakes. I ordered vanilla, red velvet and marble. All were amazing! The cupcake shop is very cute and the staff is very friendly. It's situated in a nice location and there is space to sit down as well. If you are in Pasadena, check them out. You won't be disappointed! read more

Dots Cupcakes is by far my most favorite cupcake place in the LA area. The cake is always moist while the frosting is thick and not like whipped cream. The flavor and sweetness work well together. I've been able to try a majority of their flavors. they have several daily flavors and a couple baker's choice flavors that change everyday. The following flavors are the ones that I have tried and I've divided them into groups. // FLAVORS// MUST TRY: Chocolate mint Red velvet Strawberry champagne Passionfruit Peppermint mocha GOOD: Strawberry shortcake Cookies and cream Dulce de leche Carrot Tiramisu Raspberry lemon JUST OKAY: Chocolate vanilla Chocolate lovers' Fleur de sel Black forest Marble swirl Eggnog Remember that they might only have a partial selection for that specific day since some of the flavors change on a daily basis. Some flavors are also seasonal which makes things fun. They also offer either regular sized cupcakes or mini cupcakes. I always get the mini cupcakes so I'm able to try more flavors. Not the cheapest cupcakes around, but I really like the quality ingredients that they use! read more
The craze of cupcakes has been diluted the love of other confections these days. I'm not a huge cupcake fan. Too much icing is too sweet for me. If I do crave or get cupcakes for others, it's from Dots. I find Sprinkles and Crumbs as well as the others to be dry and taste the same. At Dots, the cake it self vary from each other and the varieties are distinctive. I usually go for the mint chocolate. It's usually in and out here quick which I like. read more

Located in Old Town Pasadena. It's kind of hidden off the main street (Colorado Blvd), but it's definitely there! It's a cute little cupcake shop. No place to sit down, so plan on ordering to go. I ordered a dozen for a family get-together and it was a hit!! Packaging and decoration of the cupcakes are so cute and very instagrammable! I love their personalized wrappers and always appreciate attention to detail! I didn't try everything, but here are my thoughts on the one's I tried: FLEUR DE SEL: This wasn't overly sweet-which is good! It's a chocolate cupcake with chocolate and caramel frosting. Overall a great choice if you're craving chocolate! RED VELVET: It's not as thick as Sprinkle's Red Velvet-definitely lighter and softer when you bite into it? I think fluffier is what I'm trying to say haha. Safe choice! CARROT: This was my favorite! I'm normally not a carrot cake person, but loved it a lot!! PASSIONFRUIT: This was a complete miss for me. The passionfruit filling was not for me. DOG CUPCAKES: They have doggy cupcakes available for $1.50, which is really affordable. My dog loved it! read more

In the continuing cupcake wars, here's my take on these... LOVED the lemon and carrot cake. REALLY GREAT. Perfect balance of flavors....yes, there was salt. (See below) Red velvet was okay, but not great. Fleur de Sel, well, I don't know what the deal was. It tasted salty alright, but I'm not sure what the flavor was. It looked chocolate-y, but it just didn't work for me. Mint Chocolate - one word : ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwww 2 Chocolate types - not sure what they each were, but I disliked BOTH of them......flat flavor, no salt (to know me is to know my issue with salt in baked goods...read my other reviews if ya wanna know). I'll just say this about that........cupcakes seem to bring out the WORST in the salt issue.......no salt = bland, blah flavor. The sweetness factor loses its effectiveness. Period. It's simple, and very FEW get this. Just ask Ina Garten. Just ask ANYONE who knows the secrets to GOOD baking. Sheesh, get it right, people. Just a pinch is all it takes. Okay, so now that I've vented..........just buy the lemon and carrot cake and save yourself the aggravation. They have some really great sounding flavors that were NOT available when I got there. Either they had sold out of their daily flavors and/or they weren't offered at all today. Because I really liked 2 of the flavors, YES, I would come back to try some others that I missed. For you photo buffs out there, don't bother trying. I got chastized for even taking my camera out of my handbag.......and were it not so close to closing time, I probably would have argued with her, but I didn't want to argue my way out of being able to buy the cupcakes, either. read more

4.5 Stars Dots is my sister's absolute favorite cupcake shop (next to Sprinkle's). I've only tried their mini-cupcakes. I think I've tried about every flavor now. Their frostings are more on the stiff side compared to others, which I personally like. (I don't care for the buttery frostings.) My sister ordered 2 dozen mini Christmas cupcakes. Sorry to cut this review short, but the hubby is telling me to get ready... HA! Photos included. :) Christmas Cupcakes PHOTO http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/5Xodv5XHU1g6Ves8ePdrtA?select=Lh-w-q2NhQPHms6NbSmeMg Christmas Cupcakes PHOTO http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/5Xodv5XHU1g6Ves8ePdrtA?select=ZF89k3TVR1vJpst9ubIl9Q Mini Cupcakes PHOTO http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/5Xodv5XHU1g6Ves8ePdrtA?select=yq5syQWG68kifvnDDpNoZg read more

My first time every having a Dots Cupcake. I know shocking lol I was in Old Town and passed right by it. How could I have not stopped in and got one lol. I tried the Dulce De Leche. It was sooo good!!! It was fluffy and rich. the Carmel drizzle on top was everything!! I defiantly will be coming back to try another one. The shop was clean and they had a little seating area to sit inside to enjoy your cupcake/s. It was a warm day today and inside was stuffy and warmer then outside. We had to eat it outside on the sidewalk to stay cool. They do give you complimentary water when you ask so that was great. The ladies there were nice and the one that helped us was nice and you could tell she likes working there. If you are considering going go! read more

The only cupcake I get here is the salted Carmel because its rare you see it. They put their cupcake in a specially designed cupcake box, which is the reason you pay $3.00 per cupcake! All the other cupcakes are not worth getting here cause you can get those other flavors elsewhere; no need to drive all the way here for a cupcake. Tip: park at the structure across the shop; get 30 minutes validation. read more
Having had tried more flavors since my last visit, I can definitely say that Dots Cupcakes is awesome for any type of chocolate cupcake. In my opinion, anything other than chocolate is just...okay. The chocolate flavor is just so decadent and moist. I have not experienced it with any other flavors here. My favorite still is the Mostess cupcake. But following very closely is the Chocolate Vanilla and the Fleur de Sel. Here's a rundown in case you need it: Mostess: Chocolae cake and chocolate frosting with vanilla creme filling. Gotta love the white squiggly lines. Love-love-loved!!! Served Fri-Sun Chocolate Vanilla: Straight forward chocolate cake with vanilla frosting. Loved!! Very moist. Served everyday Cookies & Cream: Chocolate cake with vanilla frosting covered in oreo-esque crumbles. It was okay. I enjoyed the Chocolate Vanilla more. Served daily. Fleur de Sel: Chocolate cake with chocolate frosting and caramel drizzle. Also bits of sea salt. Its Very good. But...I guess I am not a fan of the salt. However, I would order again. Served daily. Strawberry Shortcake: Seems to be white cake with strawberry like frosting. It just didn't do it for me. No wow effect. Served daily. Red Velvet: Did not really like. read more

Next to Sprinkles cup cakes, Dots is my favorite cup cake shop. In fact, I think they're better then Sprinkles or Crumbs. Their cupcakes are so moist and creamy. Not dry and sweet like other cup cake shops. Also, their $1 dollar cheaper then Sprinkles or Crumbs. The best thing about dots is that you don't have to wait in line and drive to Beverly Hills. All their cup cakes are good. My favorites are the cookies n' cream, vanilla chocolate swirl, red velvet, maple bacon cupcake and dulce de leche. They also have mini cup cakes for half the price which is a good way to sample all their cup cakes without having to feel guilty and all pigged out. So If you want great tasting cup cakes without all the hype, come to dots cup cakes in Pasadena. read more

Been wanting to try this place for a while now everytime I'm in Pasadena I would drive past this cute this place all the time but I never got a chance to try it.. Finalllly went in today and ordered a mini cupcake..I gotta say that's a good idea to have a mini cupcake after having some pizza.. Anyhow I really likes all the pink and the cute cupcakey candy feel..After looking through all the yummy loooking flavors I decided to go with the Strawberry Shortcake... Took a bite was hoping for a mmmm factor but the only factor I got was a ewww factor..this mini lil cupcake was soooo SWEEEEET..tooo SWEEEEET in fact..I couldn't handle it..I ended up giving it to my co-worker...I loveee sweets but this was definitely OVER THE TOP... I definitely won't come back..I've had better Crumbs in Glendale is much better. Pros-the cute lil shop. Cons-cupcakes TOOO DAMN SWEEETTT...I got a sweet tooth but not a SWEEEEEEEEEEET tooth... read more
Considering they are close to Sprinkles (my fave) and sooooooo much better tasting AND priced than Casey's Cupcakes (Riverside), I am definitely a fan. They taste good so far (not too sweet, not too dry), are moderately priced ($2.75 compared to Casey's $3.25!), and are a lot much closer to me than any other worthy cupcake place. What I don't understand is people saying they are too sweet...you guys do realize you're eating cupcakes, right? That's like saying sweet potatoes taste too sweet...isn't it supposed to be sweet, like cupcakes are, hence the "cake" part...? The only cons I have are: 1) It was STIFLING hot inside the store...I mean, we were in there for perhaps 5 minutes, and I started sweating. 2) The guy working the register was nice but he didn't give us any change back (he owed us 50 cents), and didn't believe us until we showed him the receipt, where it showed we gave him $6 and he charged us for $5.50 (2 regular sized cupcakes.) He was still 400 times nicer than the people at Casey's, so I'll let it slide. Over all, I'll be going back and probably tell my friends, too! read more
