I was flying back to Los Angeles and Mom and I wanted to stop for food prior to my flight so we stopped at dosa Grill. I've been here a few times before, but it was a lonnggggg time ago! And it was moms first time trying Indian food!!! The buffet is stacked with SO MANY OPTIONS !! And variety of foods but mom and I decided to order from the regular menu. We ordered: Butter Dosa - Bhindi Masala (okra) Chicken Makhani (comes with rice) Everything was phenomenal and freshhhh! The portions are HUGE and could literally feed a family of 4!! We had so many leftovers. What really stands out at this place is not only the food but the friendly service. Everyone was so nice and you can tell they put a lot of love into their food!! The owner gave mom a run down on what region each dish came from and certain ingredients they use! Definitely the best spot for Indian food in the area!!

Wonderful lunch buffet with lots of delicious choices. Naan bread, Chicken Tandoori, chicken Tikka Masala, Mutter Paneer, Veggie Pakora and more. Some items were a little spicy but everything had beautiful flavors. The dessert was two of my favorites so I had a little of each. Mango Custard and Kheer(rice pudding) Service was excellent as always.

Stopped here for a late dinner on a Monday. They offered a buffet as well as menu items. The buffet was moderately sized but every dish I tried was very good. I also ordered garlic naan which was tasty and goat curry which was fantastic! I intended to take out the goat curry but my companion wanted to try it, so they brought a smaller dish to the table. The staff was courteous and attentive, excellent in every way. Decor is updated and pleasing, the restrooms could use an upgrade, but were generally clean. The private parking lot was very convenient. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

Wonderful business! Our favorites are the chicken tikka saag (not pictured), chicken tikka masala, and spring roll dosa! Service here is hospitable and attentive, while also offering discounts to students! Although it is pretty quiet, it is a great local spot for those who would like casual and authentic indian!

Amazing as always, especially during the lunch buffet. I've been eating here since 2016 when I lived from 2016-2019, then moved back to Arizona. When I visit Syracuse every year, my wife and I make sure to grab the buffet a couple times before heading back to AZ. Thanks DOSA for the traditional flavor and always welcoming from your servers. Just wish I can find the same flavor in Arizona (Phoenix) but still no luck

I finally made it to the Dosa Grill and tried their lunch buffet. It was so good I had to go back and this time I managed to take a picture before eating. The staff were so helpful and kind. I love that they have so many vegetarian options and everything tastes so good. The buffet provides a great opportunity to try different dishes all at once especially because they have so many options in their menu. Their naan is delicious and has the perfect consistency. I also really enjoyed the dessert options of rice pudding and mango custard. Both were a delicious options to finish the meal. I am definitely looking forward to returning!

Flavor of India is tucked into a little corner of East Syracuse and you'd miss it if you weren't looking. Staff was friendly and sat us right in front of the fire place on a chilly 20 Degree night. The food took about 15 to 20 minutes and was hot, fresh and flavorful with requests to us on our spice level which I went spicy and didnt regret it (but my body might have) lol. The Biryani portion for $17 was definetly enough for 2 meals and I felt full from about half of it thought that might have been the capsacin. The garlic chili Nana was very interesting because in one bite it cut the heat from my biryani but then hit me with chili and the spice came back. About $50 for 2 people w/ 2 entrees, naan, and water. A little pricier than what you might want for just 2 people but the food's taste and size make up for it. Would definetly go back.

From the moment I walked in, the warm ambiance and inviting décor set the tone for what turned out to be a truly memorable meal. The menu offered a wide variety of authentic dishes, each prepared with remarkable attention to detail. We started with crispy papadums that were perfectly spiced and paired with flavorful mint and tamarind chutneys. We were also presented with Gobi Manchurian featuring deep-fried, battered cauliflower (gobi) tossed in a spicy, tangy, and slightly sweet soy-garlic sauce. For the main courses, the butter Chilean sea bass was served in a rich, creamy, and beautifully balanced sauce, while the garlic naan came out fresh, soft, and slightly charred--just the way it should be. The lamb kabab was nothing short of outstanding--perfectly tender, juicy, and infused with a smoky, well-balanced mix of spices. Each bite was rich and flavorful without being overpowering. Finally, the lamb shank masala was the true star of the evening. The meat was incredibly soft, falling off the bone effortlessly, and the masala sauce was deeply aromatic, layered with spices that created a bold yet harmonious flavor profile. It paired beautifully with fresh naan and fragrant basmati rice. We were too stuffed at this point to order anything else, so this evil (said with tongue firmly in cheek) lady in charge simply provided us with a dish of kheer to share, and it was the perfect ending to the meal. Creamy, lightly sweet, and delicately infused with cardamom, it offered a refreshing contrast to the richness of the main dishes. What truly set this restaurant apart was the quality of the ingredients and the depth of flavor in every dish. It was clear that everything was made fresh, with spices blended in-house to create that signature, authentic taste. The service was equally impressive--attentive without being intrusive, and the staff was more than happy to offer recommendations and explain dishes. It made the entire experience feel welcoming and personal. The owners were friendly and eager to answer questions and make sure that everyone felt welcome. Whether you're new to Indian cuisine or a longtime fan, this restaurant is a must-visit. It delivers not only on taste but also on atmosphere and hospitality. I'll definitely be returning soon whenever we're in the area!

My partner ordered a mango lassi which she enjoyed. For starters we had Tandoori Wings, Vegan Samosas, and Fish 65. Kind of a mixed bag. The wings were easily the best of the three. They were coated in some sort of seasoning rub/sauce which added a lot of flavor but prevented them from being crispy despite appearances. I would get these again. The vegan samosas were very dry and lacking flavor. The fish 65 was just meh. Strips of fish fried in oil that needed to be changed. Wouldn't get either of those two again. Interestingly, all three apps came with the same sauce on the side. For entrees my partner had Chicken Biryani and Rosemary Naan which she enjoyed and came with a good portion size. I had the lamb pepper fry. My dish was very tasty but very spicy. I have a good spice tolerance so it wasn't a problem but I would caution people ordering this dish. Portion size was small. I would've been hungry if not for the appetizers. Our server was excellent. Very cordial and welcoming. Great guy. Unfortunately he might have been the best part of the meal. I may be back, maybe not. Try it out for yourself though.

My order tonight was a chicken tikka masala, a pickle side, a shrimp pakora, a mango lassi, and a goat tikka masala. The chicken tikka masala and shrimp pakora were good. I didn't try the pickle side, and the mango drink was really good. The goat tikka masala had 7 100 percent reviews on the site so I decided to go with it as I've never had it before. My very first bite had a bone half inch diameter and about an inch long. I ended up finding several of these, and my other bites had shards of bone. My entire meal was thrown away. I'm super glad I didn't dish some out to my young children before the meal started. I could've choked or swallowed some sharp pieces of bone. I've never had this meal before so if it's supposed to have lots of bone then I didn't expect that; however I don't believe it's supposed to and so I'm leaving this as a warning to anyone I would not order the goat tikka masala for this reason. To me this experience is a zero but I'm forced to give it a one. I won't be eating here again

If you live near Syracuse University or work in the area near Upstate University Hospital, the VA…read moreor Crouse Hospital then you must be familiar with the Royal Indian Grill on 147 Marshall Street. Most notably, they serve a lunch buffet during the week that costs less than $13 and is bar none the best value for your money. I often partake in the take-out buffet during the weekdays and can't deny that its the best option for when I am really hungry and want a satisfying meal. The staff are associated with other well known Indian restaurants in the area (The Clay Oven and the Dosa Grill to name a couple) as denoted by their various polo shirts with the named establishments screen printed on the chest. On various days, I have experienced questionable attitudes from the wait staff but, most of time, I don't dine-in so my experience in this regard is not very reliable. But, be forewarned that some previous reviews have criticized the customer service of the staff and called it into question on more than a few occasions. The buffet has a wide variety of options available and they try to mix up the entrees beyond the usual Chicken Tikka Masala, Chicken Curry and Tandoori Chicken. On Fridays, they sometimes serve Fish Masala which is a personal favorite of mine. There are also a wide variety of vegetarian and vegan options as well beyond the salad bar. In fact, if you ever consider converting to a vegetarian diet, Indian cuisine is the way to go. The variety of options consisting of chick peas, cabbage, cauliflower, potatoes, eggplant, okra, lentils and cheese are so expertly prepared with herbs and spices that make any traditional Indian dishes absolutely delicious. If you are new to Indian cuisine you can feel confident in the knowledge that the spice levels are very mild (unless you specifically request a certain level of spiciness). Overall, its a great and affordable experience for any foodie who enjoys fragrant cuisine highlighted by herbs and spices that aren't overbearing. The buffet is all-you-can-eat and the to-go option is very filling. This is my go-to option for anytime I am famished and just want something delicious that always leaves me satisfied. You owe it to yourself to try this out. And the price point will never disappoint. What have you got to lose?

When my order came, it only had the paneer. The receipt on the bag had only the paneer on it, so I'm assuming it was on the restaurant's end. I can understand if they were out of that item, but they made no attempt to contact me and let me know and ask if I wanted to substitute something else. I later called the delivery service and they refunded me, no hassle, but still, this was a major bummer. By the time my food came, I was headed into a meeting and it was too late to order something else-- plus, I wasn't about to pay double delivery fees. I was really looking forward to this meal so it was a bummer that it wasn't what I was expecting, and there seemed to be no attempt at contact. The paneer was ok, but the flavor was a bit on the sour side and I wouldn't call it the best Indian food I've ever had. I'd be willing to give this spot a second try eventually but I'm not running back here after a bit of a letdown.

This was my last dinner in Syracuse before left the next morning (work trip) and was I disappointed... Off the bat, it took 5+ minutes for someone to come seat me, even though the "restaurant" was empty, save for one table. I got seated in the corner, which I don't mind, but it definitely felt weird considering all the other, more comfortable seating choices available. After what seemed like forever, I was able to order the Chicken Biryani, pretty standard Indian fare, and mango lassi. After another considerable wait, I received my "biryani" and lassi. Starting off with the positives: the lassi tasted like a lassi. The negatives: the biryani felt like it was made earlier and put in the microwave...gross. The rice on top was warm and the inside were cold. The chicken was rubbery and inedible. I attempted to eat the rice, which strongly tasted of cumin and pepper and nothing else, but could not keep going. Needless to say, I didn't need a box. Overall, food 0/5, service 1.5/5, ambiance 2/5. If you want any kind of decent tasting food, look elsewhere!
