This place is a hidden gem! It took me a while to visit as I was not familiar with many of the menu offerings, and I regret waiting so long! Even for non-vegetarians, please give this a try. The plates are delicious, filling, and taste homemade. The dosas are like a savory crepe made of lentil and rice. They are filled with spiced vegetables. Truly a Columbus gem. When it comes to authentic South Indian vegetarian fare theres none better than Dosa Corner. Food is expertly prepared under the watchful eye of owner Hari who greets all customers with a warm smile. Their signature Dosas come in a wide variety of fillings and variations. Traditional idli/sambar is excellent with perfectly soft idlis, a feat that's hard to achieve. Went to the restaurant at 8:50pm on Wednesday. The guy at the counter was rude and told me that I can only order idli or dosa. I went and asked him if I can order vada, he got mad at me and said vada needs to be cooked and yelled at me saying that I can only order dosa idli or dosa. He could have said in a different tone rather than yelling. The yelling part was something that is not something I expected from a business. I left by saying thank you and yelled back thank you in a sarcastic way. Do u think I will ever go there or recommend anyone there when there are countless restaurants to choose from. read more

I'm a big fan of Indian food so I'm always on the prowl for a new place to try. Dosa Corner is relatively close to where I live and I had never tried dosas before. The wife and I went to try Dosa Corner out several weeks ago and, well...it was kind of odd. We pulled up on a Saturday night and there appeared to be only 4 parking spots in front of this very small restaurant. We ended up having to park in the back, by a dumpster, from what I recall. I specifically remember getting out of the car and staring at the building (not the restaurant) that was just a few feet away with graffiti of private parts on the wall. Real tacky. I'm a little shocked that no one has covered this up. Anyways, we walked in and the restaurant just wasn't what we were expecting. It certainly isn't a place that you would take a date to. It was very small, a bit odd, and seemed a little less-than-clean.That being said, we just walked out and ventured onto other places. A week later, I was flying solo, and decided to actually try the food. I knew, ahead of time, that I wasn't going to dine in, so I placed an order over the phone. I showed up ten minutes later and the order was already on the table and ready to go. I ordered two different types of dosas. My first impression was "wow, these are huge." For anyone who has yet to try a dosa (maybe I should say a dosa from Dosa Corner), it is basically a small amount of a traditional Indian entrée folded inside of a crepe. The crepe kind of resembled an omelette as well. It was quite tasty, but had an odd smell. The smell reminded me a a self-tanner lotion. Weird, I know, but something that I thought I should point out. Perhaps this is how dosas usually smell; I don't know. My final impressions: the food is tasty. But I actually prefer the regular curry dishes by themselves as opposed to being wrapped inside of a crepe. I would like to point out that this is not a nice sit-down restaurant that you would want to take a date to. Like I said before, I've not sat down and had a meal here or experienced how the wait-staff is, but the place seems very small and a bit dirty. Some may consider this unfair to say since I haven't actually eaten inside the restaurant, but I can only go off of my impressions that I've had being inside this restaurant twice. Food is tasty (from what I've sampled, which appears to be a small part of the menu) but environment is very cramped and grungy. I want to like Indian food so bad. Sadly I have a hard time figuring out what I would like and what to order on Indian menus. I'm usually disappointed. Anyway, here at Dosa Corner I let the waiter know that I didn't want anything spicy. Yet he didn't point me in the right direction. I literally ate a piece of pepper in my dosa meal. When I told him my meal was too spicy he told me that it's normal for them. These people love pepper, I just can't deal with it. I think I'm done with Indian food unless I make it myself (I love my version of chana masala) or it comes pre made by Amy's organic frozen meals. Lastly they need to clean their restroom, can we say black mold! Gross. P.S. Dosa should upgrade their tables, chairs and table cloth...plus take care of their ant problem. Really should be 0 stars- Very disappointed with the service (actually lack thereof). They had a big "order online" button on their website, from which I went through placing an order, gave my credit card, and paid. I called the restaurant to figure out when to pick up the food and they told me there were no orders. I explained I ordered through their website, even verified their address and phone number, to which they responded no, they only use GrubHub, door dash, or Uber eats. They proceeded to argue with me, offering no apologies or a way to make it right by making the food for us that we paid for. Finally the guy at the restaurant acknowledges that they tried out this company where my money went but they didn't like it and they don't use it anymore. I told him it's very misleading to continue to have this link on their website, now I have to cancel the charge from some random, strange company and he didn't care one bit. He just said I know, order through grub hub, door dash, or Uber eats. Yeah right, didn't get my food, and never trying Dosa Corner again. Horrible customer service. read more

For the prices Dosa Corner charges, they can use a) non-plastic glasses for water, b) non-styrofoam plates for Dosas, and c) non-plastic forks and spoons. I know my Indian food. As food goes, this Southern Indian food is not bad. However, the environment it is served in could be a lot better, esp. considering what the restaurant charges. If you want Southern Indian food, I'd recommend Udipi. If you want Northern Indian, Taj Palace is much better. If you want pan-Indian, Bay Leaf in Polaris is the best. Both Taj Palace and Bay Leaf are a tad bit more expensive but the ambience would be worth the few extra dollars. read more

Pathetic service. Don't except the menu card until 10 minutes are gone. They don't know what they are serving on which table. The server is going to take forever to take the order. The tables and chairs are broken. I don't know what's wrong with this place. Only the dosa's are good here and it is good for nothing else. But, if you are coming here don't expect to be served. Yummy authentic dosa in a very casual atmosphere. Great vegetarian Indian food and very affordable. The portions were huge. Two of us spent $20 for lunch and took food home. This is worst place I have ever been in last 8 years. Immediate thing you will notice. - Very Bad Interior. - Dirty Restrooms. We ordered paper Dosa and Uttapam. First of all owner came to take to the order and he took the order in such a body language as if he is doing a big favor on us. He did not even bother to pick up the menu card back from us. Did not even fill the water jug. The places of not nice at all and we both were looking at each other thinking that last night's Udipi experiance was awesome with same price. This restaurent had only one person doing everything - the owner. There was no other waiter. Is the owner being stingy. Udipi has same price level but much much better service and they have soft spoken 5-6 people waiting tables. Next after 15 minues of wait DOSA arrived and Oh My God ! I was surprised to see the amount of Sambhar with the dosa. It will hardly be 2 oz in volume. It is beyong me who can eat DOSA as big as it was with 2 oz of sambhar. Pathetic stingy service !! We were tried waiting for DOSA and tried to eat what we could. Uttapam was coming after further 10 minute delay. During the whole time Owner was absent and probably in kitchen. Then a girls comes in a start spraying chemicals on the window and cleaning it. While we were still eating. The swell of cleaning solution quickly spread across the whole restaurent. After patiently waiting that the girl would stop but she did not and coutinue to clean glass using her cleaning chemical. I finally had the courage to speak and ask her to please stop while we are eating (Imagine eating in foul smell). That girl did not knew english. Wow !! and the owner is still absent and somewhere in the kitchen and he shows up some 5 minute later with some TO-GO items we earlier order. We asked the owner for check. I wasted 36$ and this is my worst Indian Restaurnet Experiance in last year and I eat out at lots of Indian places. I would suggest people to not waste their time and dollars on this pathetic and stingy restaurent. Go to Udipi rather. We visited Dosa Corner again a long absence due to health issues. We have been coming to this restaurant since it opened and have watched it grow and blossom. The food is consistently excellent and we enjoy trying new items each time we visit. The food is southern Indian vegetarian and tends to be a little spicy. My go-to favorite is the masala dosa (filled with flavorful potato). The portions are generous and the food is always tasty and served hot from the kitchen. The restaurant is always clean and the wait staff is discreet and helpful. We enjoy talking with Hari (the owner) whenever he comes out to chat with customers and usually indulge in one of the many sweet treats on offer at the checkout counter. Unpretentious, neighborhood, hole in the wall, paper plates and cups, plastic service. All true. But the food is superb. Vegetarian, tasty, authentic (as far as a non-Indian can tell, but certainly I run back to my copy of "Lord Krishna's Cuisine" after each visit to see what it was, exactly, that I just enjoyed). I was waiting in front of their counter for payment for five minutes until the manager passed me by, and when I asked "excuse me can I", he waved me off before i finished my sentence without even looking back, kinda shocked by how rude he was. I had the masala chai, upma and mango lassi. All of them were below mediocre. Idli was undecooked, but the medu vada was nice n crispy. However, they gave very little sambar with it, so the food was 3 stars at best. The food is wonderful. We've been eating here for years. Why three stars? The restaurant needs to be fixed up and cleaned. From the street out front through the entry and into the restaurant, trash, worn paint, and other unkempt conditions always make me question why I keep returning. Would it be so hard to at least pick up the trash and put a layer of paint on the entrance? I'd rate this place 4/5 as nothing is perfect but this is close to perfection I'd say. A must place to try and give your taste buds a treat and taste of south India. My friend had been wanting to come here for quite a while and while her husband is averse to ethnic foods, I'm always down for anything new! While I'm not new to South Indian food, I was interested to see what Dosa corner had to offer. Although the space is humble, I loved how they had some really personal touches such as a patio teeming with plants and really high quality toilet paper (hey... that stuff is appreciated!). The menu is a little overwhelming, but they do have it broken down, it's just a matter of narrowing down the options. I was happy to find that they had a sort of combo platter that was reasonably price (I believe $11 or $12) which allowed me to try a full size dosa along with a few appetizer samples and a tiny dessert. Everything was really delicious and although my friend is averse to very spicy food, she found this tolerable. The service was also top notch and I appreciated the pitcher of water they provided when we first arrived. I would definitely recommend this place for its family run atmosphere and authentic feel. read more

Food: I would give my dish 3-4 stars (chickpeas in a tomato-based sauce) because it was quite good. My wife's meal would get 1 star. Raw peas and paneer with no pre-cooking or seasoning thrown intoa mediocre sauce. Her meal came with rice, mine didn't - neither the menu or the server deigned to say why. Atmosphere: 1.5 star. Hole-in-the-wall, I get. The plastic and polystyrene is pretty bad. Service: The worst I've ever seen. And they don't even seem to know it's bad. There was room-temperature tap water on the table that we contented ourselves with for 5 minutes until someone took our order (little did I know that I would never get the drink I ordered so warm water it is). We ordered an appetizer and my entree showed up after we has taken only a few bites. We finished the app, then with apologies to my wife I started eating the entree since it was already starting to cool off. 10 minutes after I was done(!), my wife finally got her meal. And never with a hint of the kitchen even realizing this was abnormal. Another 5 minutes later, I was brought the bread I ordered with my meal. (And again, the drink never showed.) If you want to be a take-out place, fine. But if you are going to advertise and offer dine-on, know how to serve a meal. read more

Ideally it should rate at a 3, but I like small family owned places. Also, there aren't that many South Indian places in C'bus. They should do real plates, and try and make the place a bit less tacky. Also, the coconut chutney needs work. All this being said, its a solid inexpensive place. My daughter and I stopped by for dinner last night primarily because she insisted on having paneer masala dosa (she remembered it from our visit there a few months ago!). So she ordered her favorite dosa while I got a Mysore sada (i.e. plain)dosa. The dosas arrived piping hot and crisp. The sambar and chutney were delicious as well. We washed it all down with some refreshing salt lassi. This is my go to place for great Southern Indian food in the Columbus area. The owner is friendly and gets to know his regulars. While the service staff can leave you a little frustrated sometimes, I still rate this place 5 stars for the food and the way we have been treated by the owner over these past 2+ years. So if you live in the Columbus area or are just visiting, give this place a shot!! read more

As a pure Vegetarian it saddens me to see a pure Veg restaurant in the area not live up to the standards..to start with, the food is Good, only if you can get it! I had visited this place often with friends, the Dosa's are great and so is the Sambhar. Being a little health conscious, I can't recommend the fried items. Most of the appetizers are usually fried early on and then re-fried (multiple times it seems like!). You may enjoy the food only if you go for an early lunch. If it were not for the Dosa's, I wouldn't have visited to have my family check it out. If the door reads OPEN, then the customers expect to be served. There are excuses such as .."the cooks are out for a break and we have no idea when they would be back.." The Owners & employees can try to respect the customer's time and energy and hence show professionalism. Am giving 2 stars just for the great Dosa's they served us earlier on our visit!
