Dos Salsas - Georgetown

Haven't been here since before Covid. Stopped for later lunch 1:30 today. Opted for plastic enclosed outdoor patio which was full but not crowded. Very few customers indoors. Probably was a bit too windy but fresh air felt good. Service was ok. 1 waiter for @10 tables. Had chips and 2 salsas on the table to munch while we reviewed the enormous menu. Salsas were spicy but really fabulous. Ordered the Queso appetizer which was served hot. Server probably should have refreshed the chips but didn't. Queso had some meat in it and scoop of fresh guacamole. Meat was flavorless and could have been left out. Guacamole was very tasty. Entrees were chicken fajita enchiladas with tomatillo sauce and pork mole Both were served with rice and refried beans and the pork had corn tortillas as well. Chicken was a chopped up grilled chicken breast wrapped in the tortillas but no seasoning and nothing else inside the tortilla. Not much of the tomatillo sauce so kind of blah. Expected to have sautéed green peppers and onion when it was chicken fajita enchiladas. Pork Mole had a much richer flavor and was good. Server brought more chips with the entrees which we ended up taking home with the leftover queso. No offer to refill my iced tea during the meal but was attentive to bring another beer. Overall good but food was not as flavorful as I remembered. Prices obviously have gone up but at a level equivalent to competitors. Parking still is very challenging. Wouldn't rush back. read more

Pretty good Tex-Mex food! Prices are fair enough and taste is good. I almost always get the enchilada trio plate, memitos or memos plate. The beef fajitas are great too. I've never eaten in store but service seems fast, at least for take out. Ambiance is as you'd expect from a Tex Mex place that isn't a Chuys or Trudy's. read more

You know how you don't miss something until it is gone? Like you realize now how much you liked fans at a NHL or MLB game. Or, your youth. Or toilet paper during Covid. That's how I felt about Dos Salsas after our 'rona separation. I missed their margaritas (with a hit of Grand Marnier). I missed the atmosphere. The friendly greetings. I don't really sit down for supper there. And I don't need to. They have such a wonderful appetizer and side dish menu I always just popped in for a drink and for the atmosphere. The queso is good. The guacamole is great. Their people are friendly and warm. The environment is comfortable. Then, it went away. I'm so glad they're back. The location is great for a quick stop downtown (I remember when there used to be an arcade there in the early 80's). Swing by and try. It is DEFINITELY a great place to visit. And you too will have dos salsas in your veins.... read more

When we moved to Georgetown 20 years ago our realtor took us to Dos Salsas while we were house hunting. She said she and her husband ate there at least once a week, and that it was the best in Georgetown. We learned that she was right, and now we have been eating there for 20 years. For the last several years we have eaten at Dos Salsas every single Sunday when in town. For two reasons. We think it is the best Tex Mex in Georgetown, and anywhere else, for that matter. Our families and friends from across the country always want to "go to Dos Salas." I am taking adults, children, young adults, every body. Last year when we had friends from Pennsylvania we took them there, and then one night we planned to go to an upscale restaurant for dinner, but the they said, "We'd prefer to go back to Dos Salsas." But in addition to the food it is Ara, our server, who keeps us coming back. She is the best, takes superb care of us, and is always cheerful regardless of other circumstances. As long as Ara is there, we will be too! Keith Lovin read more

We selected Dos Salsas to cater our family's memorial service for my son in law, with 90 guests. The staff was very professional, helpful, courteous and knowledgeable. We selected mixed fajitas with all the trimmings ( guac, pico, tortillas), cheese enchiladas, refried beans, rice, chips and salsa. The food was delivered on time, in correct quantities, hot and delicious. Everything was fresh, appetizing and tasty! read more

Pretty solid place. Four stars no doubt about it. I have been to this restaurant twice and I have to say it's quite good. I definitely stop in when I'm in the area visiting with clients. It's kind of the go to their in Georgetown. Food : I think the first time I got there be fajitas which were really good. I think this time actually I got to be fajitas again now that I think about it. I remember they brought out some tortilla soup which was really good. I was going to get a tamale play but when I asked the server if the tomatoes were homemade she said no. I said OK will where do they come from. She said she had no idea I said OK that has to be the first time someone has ever told me they had no idea where the food came from. I'm assuming they must come from a can I'm not sure but they are not homemade so therefore I did not get the tamales. I will give them this though the beef fajita tacos are very fresh and quite good. Customer service: customer service is pretty good but let me tell you right now the parking situation here is terrible. I have been very lucky to get Park and the two times I've been there but parking is scarce. The space is fill up fast and I'm really not sure what to do if there's not parking because there's no pay parking nearby. Other than that stop and give them a try. read more

A very pleasant surprise! There is outdoor seating and plenty of indoor seating here and you can seat yourself. We were attended to and served quickly. Our waitress had a lot of energy and was very nice. I had a sweet tea to start which was good and the waitress brought out chips and salsa. The salsa verde was delicious (very hot but good). The chips were also good and fresh. My Chimichanga was delicious, I devoured it. The filling was rice, fajita chicken, and cheese. The refried beans were not good to me, they reminded me of grade school so I topped those with salsa verde. Overall, I enjoyed the food though. The vibe inside was laidback. Many conversations going on and they have a bar with TVs. I would definitely come back for a bite to eat if i'm nearby. The total for everything pictured was $44 (only missing a pic of the tortilla soup) read more

I'm shocked this place is rated so low. We stopped in for the first time tonight. Margarita was strong and tasty. Queso and food was delicious. Service was good. Our server was definitely busy but we didn't have to wait for anything. He was nearby so we were able to flag him down when we were ready for our check. It wasn't a big deal for us. We've recently moved to the area and really struggled to find good Mexican food. So excited to finally find it here! read more

It's been a while since I have been here. The food is good and the drinks are also good. I had the Mexican martini and my friend the frozen margarita. She ordered the Monterrey chicken and I got the ceviche. I feel the issue is the prices. I feel that the food was good but not great for what we paid. I enjoyed my Mexican martini though, but to come here just for drinks is just not the place. Not my favorite, but not horrible either. I've been to both locations. The one in cedar Park is much bigger and have a bigger selection of drinks, still a little overpriced. read more

We came here for lunch on a Monday and the four of us enjoyed everything. Chips came with red and green salsas and they kept them filled. I ordered the Ceviche Tostado app. It was tasty and there was enough for lunch for one. Everyone else got enchiladas, and all plates were cleaned off. Staff was attentive. Drinks were good. I can't complain about anything. I will say that the parking lot is very small, so street parking is necessary. First time at the Georgetown location and it did not disappoint. Tortilla chips came out fresh and warm with green and red salsa. A little spicy for me but hubby liked them, he favored the red salsa. We both had enchiladas with rice and he has black beans too. We both enjoyed our orders (see pictures) very much. Shout out to our waitress Angie who was very attentive and friendly!! Dos Salsas what has happened to you? We went for an early lunch. Seated immediately. We had not been in awhile. The dirty sticky menu was placed on the table. My husband commented that he guessed they no longer had a lunch offering. We ordered off the menu given to us. When our food arrived I heard 2 other tables ask for the "lunch menu" and were brought a smaller version of the one we had. Of course our order was already placed with the kitchen. When our server came back I asked if there was a lunch menu. He made a face and went an retrieved it. The chicken Flautas and chicken enchiladas were tasteless and the chicken was stringy -- obviously a cost cutting measure. The guacamole was good and chips/hot sauces also good. We won't be back. read more

You know when I read that this restaurant was under investigation from the Health Department, I was surprised, because I have never seen an issue all the times I have been there. But after getting lunch this afternoon, which was the Barbacoa Plate. After almost finishing my meal, I had to stop and remove a long white hair out of the meat I was in the middle of eating, I stopped eating any more of my meal and threw it away. It looks like someone was not wearing appropriate hair net or hear apparel while cooking in the kitchen.. Maybe the Health Department needs to return under cover to obverse how they prepare the meals to prevent this problem. read more

This is a very scenic and modern upscale restaurant near the heart of downtown Georgetown. The interior is nicely appointed and understatedly elegant. The inside and outside restaurant and bar areas are expansive but easily outstrip the provided parking. There is also street parking nearby, but don't be surprised if you wind up walking from nearby public lots or garages. I can easily see this place being packed. We had a reservation and were promptly seated and offered water service. As with most Mexican restaurants, there's an expansive menu, so we ordered drinks while we perused the menu. I found the Encantada margarita to be quite tasty, but it was a bit expensive. At $11 for a single serving with house liquors, closer to what we've come to expect locally for a Mexican martini (theirs was $18 with house, $24 with call). That's a bit over-the-top IMHO. We were offered complimentary chips and salsa; I remember the chips to be excellent, and the red salsa just right for my taste, but others remarked that it was too spicy. Our waitress (Paulina) joked that the only thing less spicy was their ketchup. They also have a green salsa, which is even spicier, but that we all skipped. The food menu has a lot of chef-inspired offerings. I tried the Grilled Chicken Tacos (Grilled Chicken, Cilantro, Onion, Fresco Cheese) at $16. I had one on flour and one on corn to taste the difference in tortillas with the same ingredients, along with a side bowl of black beans. I found them flavorful but also on the small side for the price. Additional tacos are $5 each. No rice was offered. This was one of their least expensive plates. We had a great time and our drink and food service was nothing less than excellent, but I couldn't help but come away feeling that, for a check that tabbed in just under $100 (with tip) we should have had a fuller tummy. Would we come back? Maybe. We'll have to explore their other options and perhaps graze more off the appetizer menu; however, less than $5 separate most of their appetizers from their plate dinners. Food was served very quickly & it was very fresh and had good flavor. In my opinion, the birria Tacos were not served to do the delicious meat any justice. It was more like plopped wet on the tortillas with the juice. They are not doing the meat justice by serving it this way instead of doing it with the birria & cheese seared into the tortilla then adding cilantro and onions like I've seen at every other place. It makes it taste so much better when it's not wet, but cooked into the taco and you're able to dip it into the consommé. It was a bit overpriced in my opinion. $56 for what you see in the pictures. Chorizoqueso and chips, beef taco plate that does not have any sides, 2 plates of Two à la carte tacos, a Dr Pepper and two glasses of beer.

Small-town Mexican restaurant vibe -- comfortable and unassuming…read more Large menu. We tried the queso, which was pretty tasty. The free chips weren't that great -- bland. My husband and I split the Caldwell Special (essentially a fajita platter with beef, chicken, and shrimp, over peppers and onions). It was pretty good -- the beef was tender and the shrimp was fat and succulent. Chicken was a bit on the tough side but that's the least important one for getting the texture right. Ultimately, a good dish but a bit pricy (44.99 for two). It wasn't a huge amount of food -- just enough for two people (and we got tortillas and made a couple fajitas too). Kids enjoyed their cheese quesadillas (but that's easy to nail). Service was great. Our waitress was really sweet and attentive. Ultimately, a comfortable and pleasant experience. I called for take out last weekend. It was 10:55 and I was told lunch doesn't start until 11 a.m. My response was ok I'd still like to place the order. They told me to come in 15 minutes later and when I did, I found out my order was wrong. Instead of three different plates, there were only two and one was altered to incorporate the third meal I wanted. I ended up waiting until 11:35 when my third plate came out and was wrong! They stared at me like I was crazy when I was checking each meal in the bag. They only offered to fix the problem, but I refused to wait any longer and just went with it. They also couldn't tell me who was the person who took my initial order yet the girl I watched for 30 minutes at the front said it wasn't her... This place used to be great. Popularity has ruined a mom and pop business! read more

Dos Salsas is my favorite restaurant in the world, my family and I eat there at lest once a week. The food is incredible, the atmosphere is great, and service is excellent. The only complaint that I have ever had, is with the last time I was in I had an issue with a server, so if you ever go in to try it just make sure you ask not to sit in Susan's section, she seems to have an attitude problem. But other than that you will truly be satisfied, even if you do have to wait! read more

By far, best salsa in central texas! I live in Austin but take all my friends up to Georgetown when they want some tasty mexican food. The staff is always friendly and accomodating. Parking can be a little tricky during peak hours but the lot turnover is pretty quick so if you need a close spot waiting for a few minutes will get you in. Definitely a must try for people passing thru Georgetown and locals alike! read more

I hate that place worse than sin itself. I can't stand the owner and the staff. He is so rude and hateful. They are nice to your face to get your money but God forbid if you have to leave an elderly person there by themselves for a bit while they eat and you run and errand. They will chase you down and kick that elderly right out of their restaurant. I HATE EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS PLACE!!!!!! read more

We stopped in to give it another shot after a friend said they had improved their menu and the food was better. There was some more variety on the menu and the food did taste better, so YAY! The service however, left a lot to be desired. So, one more star for them. (Not that my update is going to matter, the place is ALWAYS packed!) read more

The restaurant is in an out-of-the-way location near the Duluth Trading store south of the Round Rock outlet mall. We arrived before 5 and were seated immediately in a booth. Outdoor seating is also available but would have been uncomfortable in the heat. Drink and appetizer orders were taken immediately and water delivered. Happy hour gave us a $1 discount on the alcohol. We ordered queso (large bowl), but chips and salsa arrived ahead of the queso. We got way too many refills of their great chips before our dinners arrived. The menu is extensive, so it took us awhile to choose what we wanted. I ended up with a bowl of tortilla soup, and my husband got a stuffed pechuga (chicken breast with cheese, mushroom, and bacon). Our friends got a chicken burrito and vegetarian nachos. Everything was nicely plated and everyone enjoyed what we could after eating all those chips and queso. Service was excellent. Pricing was on the high end for Tex-Mex in our area.
