My husband and I sat at the bar on a Friday night. The bartender, Rose, was so kind and helpful. When I couldn't find anything that sounded like what i was in the mood for on the bar menu, Rose asked me questions and made me a great drink. Her service was fast and our food came out exactly how we wanted it. She checked on us often enough for anything we needed, but not too often that we felt bothered eating/drinking/enjoying karaoke. We recently held a retirement party for a coworker at Dos Salsas, with a group of nearly 20 people, and our waitress, Alice, was absolutely outstanding. Managing a large party can be challenging, but she handled everything with professionalism, efficiency, and a genuinely positive attitude. She kept everyone's orders organized, made sure drinks stayed full, accommodated special requests without missing a beat, and remained friendly and attentive throughout the entire event. First time here. Would rate 3.5. Waitress did not make us feel welcomed. We felt rushed and she did not smile once. She did the job, yes but we didn't feel like she liked her job. She looked annoyed the entire time. Some of the waitresses were standing around and not working. There was food on the floor and seats felt super sticky. Music was the best. Great choice of music. Food was good. Got the suiza enchiladas and rice was very good. My daughter's fries were over cooked. Portions were big. Loved the glass cups. Bathroom was big and clean. Overall not bad. If you want good, filling Mexican (and Tex-Mex) food while listening to karaoke on a Sunday evening then this is the spot for you! Dos Salsas is a very fun and inviting place to eat at, boasting a decently sized menu with great items. We walked in with a party of 5 although we would recommend making a reservation as we can easily see this place being packed on a Friday or Saturday night. The interior is very open and vibrant with a bar and many tables to bring friends and family with. The servers are kind and move quickly as well. Now for the food! For appetizers we had their complimentary chips and salsa but also ordered some ground beef queso. The chips are good and their red and green salsas are flavorful with a nice kick of spice to them. The queso was also creamy and rich, packing in a ton of flavor. We ordered their cheese quesadilla, cheeseburger, and barbacoa plate. Their cheese quesadilla was good with a nice crisp to the flour tortilla and spread of guacamole, sour cream, and more. The burger, on the other hand, was not very good. You can't really expect much out of a burger ordered at a Mexican restaurant but this was a pretty dry burger with subpar cheese and inconsistent fries. Not docking a whole lot of points based on that though because it still is a burger at a Mexican place. Lastly, the barbacoa plate was phenomenal. The barbacoa was tender and juicy with the rice and beans around it being savory and delicious. The corn tortillas it came with also served as a great platform for everything. We may have also done some karaoke at some point that brought another layer of fun to things. Overall our experience at Dos Salsas was very fun and we would be shocked if we're not back here soon. On our way out we caught a sign that said they do $1 mimosa refills for boozy brunch so that seems like a good way to follow things up! Mario took care of me but the staff is wonderful! I've always had a good experience here. It clean & fast service . Food wonderful. I'm Latina & it's family friendly. Friday and Saturday is open karaoke. If you don't like the noise, shouldn't go downstairs at 7 o'clock and the lower bar is open. I promise you you're missing out if you never tried them. Let me just qualify this as I've been visiting Dos Salsas for 15+ years across all the various locations. What they cant seem to get right is the cook on steak fajitas. Even after returning it, it was still well done and we had no choice but to eat it as it felt pointless. I met a friend for dinner at Dos Salsa after working out. First time at this Tex-mex restaurant.... Like many restaurants it has embraced the Halloween theme. We shared a chicken fajita plate and had margaritas. The white meat chicken was uniquely flavored and tender. The fajita meal came with rice and beans . We subbed out the beans for roasted vegetables...perfectly cooked - not too hard nor too soft. The meal also came with tortillas along with sour cream, pica de gallo, guacamole, lettuce and cheese. Dos Salsas is that big two-story Tex-Mex restaurant you always see driving past The Domain, and after living here for six years, I finally tried it. It's a family-owned spot with a 3 locations around the Austin area. The chips and salsa were decent, and I ordered the pollo en mole, which was not bad, though the chicken was a bit dry. My girlfriend ordered one of their specialty dishes which had cut up seasoned fajita beef with veggies. We both thought it was really good and well cooked. Portion sizes were huge, much bigger than I expected. The interior is large and spacious, with a stage that looks like it's used for live music at times. Service wasn't bad. Overall, it was a humble, solid experience, but I'm not sure if I'd go out of my way to come back! read more

Everything was great the service especially. Rose was our bartender and she had great recommendations. I ordered the barbacoa tacos. The were moist not greasy like some other places 10 out of 10. Rose made us two different margaritas a Mexican cand margaritas. MT wife loved it very beautiful made. Came for lunch with a coworker and had a great experience! Dos Salsas lunch menu is a really good deal with awesome portions. Hit or miss. Most times it's miss--I don't know if the owners' kids work at the front but the hosts are beyond unhelpful and unfortunately fit the stereotype of rude, annoyed teenager. My favorite Mexican food spot (that's happens to be 3min from my apartment)! The food and service never fails! They have a restaurant upstairs and a bar downstairs. On the weekends they have karaoke so if you're not into loud noise while you're eating, avoid those times. The drinks are great and they are not light on the pours! read more

Went to a birthday party event here and I ended up ordering the three beef enchiladas with rice and beans and the red gravy sauce. All in all the food was okay but it was not outstanding. Tex-Mex. There are many other local places where you really get that good. Tex-Mex taste. Also had a large margarita which again was very mediocre. I usually get a buzz off of a large Margarita anywhere but didn't get anything at all. Unfortunately, our wait person was not as attentive as she could have been, I know we had a large table of about 12 people, but the restaurant was not that busy. I have been going to their Georgetown location for years and the food is just as good here in Austin, but much better parking! Nice large location with a large open dining area on the second floor. The first floor area was closed during lunch, so a sign pointed us to go upstairs. Elevator for those who can't or don't want to do stairs. I had the cheese enchiladas. Very good. It was a workday, so no drinks, but maybe next time for dinner or the weekend. Service was good, but not great for lunchtime. Every time I go I spend way more time than I intend to at the restaurant because it takes a long time to get anyone's attention for anything. Today I went with a friend in the middle of the afternoon, not super busy. Our waitress was kind and got our order in a timely manner, but that's where service seemed to stop. We never got refills to our table, and when the waitress dropped off our plates they were set away from us and very hot-- a silly thing to complain about, I know, but I couldn't even touch my plate to bring it close enough to eat off of until it cooled down. Parts of my dish were also missing, and since our server never came around to check on us I never got them. Eventually I had to signal a separate employee to ask for our check. Again, food was fine! We were seated fairly quickly even though we were told it would take 15-20 minutes (we originally went downstairs to the bar and got a text within five minutes). There were a few large groups there (like 10+ people) so it seems like a great place that can accommodate large gatherings if needed. The vibe could be best described as a wedding reception. While I can't vouch for my partner's shrimp rellano, I can say that my cheese enchiladas were delicious and came with a huge helping of beans and rice. I came in early in the evening (no where near closing and a reasonable two person order) for a takeout and was disappointed at how standoffish the employees I interacted with were. I got home with my order and found one of the two flans was over 2 weeks expired! The rest of the food was not good compared to the last time I was here 6 months ago but the flan was just nasty. We walked in to an empty restaurant after lunch rush and waited awkwardly while the host texted for nearly 2 minutes before even acknowledging us. The server didn't know the menu, didn't mention a lunch menu, and forgot basics like chips with queso, plates, and tortillas with fajitas. We had to repeatedly ask for everything. No one checked on us, and we only got help when another staff member noticed us while cashing someone else out. To top it off, a $10 tip was automatically added--which explains why no one seems to care. This place has seriously gone downhill. Don't waste your time or money here.
