Beautiful but wayyyy too sweet!
Tanya W.

Food was great this time! Good Friday was a celebration night and the food came out delicious and fresh. I had the ceviche tostada for $8 and it was fresh and delicious. Could have used a bit more salt. My friend had the brisket chili relleno OMG that was unbelievable!!! Look at the back page of the drink menu for the better and (cheaper) margaritas. The best one was a $15 Lalo margarita plain and simple! Fun karaoke night but man they need to turn that microphone down.. sometimes it's just brutal!

I met a friend for dinner at Dos Salsa after working out. First time at this Tex-mex restaurant.... Like many restaurants it has embraced the Halloween theme. We shared a chicken fajita plate and had margaritas. The white meat chicken was uniquely flavored and tender. The fajita meal came with rice and beans . We subbed out the beans for roasted vegetables...perfectly cooked - not too hard nor too soft. The meal also came with tortillas along with sour cream, pica de gallo, guacamole, lettuce and cheese. Our server immediately took out order however only checked in once while we ate. Another server was very help to bring to go containers Overran good dining experience...

I normally just go in for happy hours & drinks and occasionally I may have date night here and indulge in some food, but mostly for drinks. I must admitt that I'm secretly crushing on Hilda the bartender lol.. Izzy is a very cool person and she gets you taken care of.. overall the restaurant has a nice layout to it. There is a down stairs and upstairs sitting. A great place to take a date.

Came for lunch with a coworker and had a great experience! Dos Salsas lunch menu is a really good deal with awesome portions. I got the two chicken enchiladas which came with a soup or salad and rice and your choice of beans. We also got an order of queso to share and it was very good. Service was good and fast and the restaurant itself is very large with nice seating. Overall great spot to grab a quick meal!

My favorite Mexican food spot (that's happens to be 3min from my apartment)! The food and service never fails! They have a restaurant upstairs and a bar downstairs. On the weekends they have karaoke so if you're not into loud noise while you're eating, avoid those times. The drinks are great and they are not light on the pours!

Angie was a great server for our table of 18! Great menu for all. I'm excited to go again and try their lunch specials!

Three beef enchiladas with rice and beans. Pretty decent

Went to a birthday party event here and I ended up ordering the three beef enchiladas with rice and beans and the red gravy sauce. All in all the food was okay but it was not outstanding. Tex-Mex. There are many other local places where you really get that good. Tex-Mex taste. Also had a large margarita which again was very mediocre. I usually get a buzz off of a large Margarita anywhere but didn't get anything at all. Unfortunately, our wait person was not as attentive as she could have been, I know we had a large table of about 12 people, but the restaurant was not that busy. Stuff was forgotten or never refilled until asked, that kind of thing.

I love the margaritas from this restaurant. I had the spicy margarita, and it does pack a tiny bit of heat. There is also karaoke (with a nice big stage) available on certain nights. I wasn't crazy about the queso, but I'd return to this restaurant for drinks and other entrees.

Flan expired on 10/15. Today is 10/27.

I came in early in the evening (no where near closing and a reasonable two person order) for a takeout and was disappointed at how standoffish the employees I interacted with were. I got home with my order and found one of the two flans was over 2 weeks expired! The rest of the food was not good compared to the last time I was here 6 months ago but the flan was just nasty. Super disappointing and a huge waste of money. I won't be using this location again.

I've driven by El Alma many times being in the Austin area, but I never went until last Thursday, and after surviving a brief monsoon, I was glad to get a few drinks and eat some good TexMex with my large party just before a wedding. The best way to describe El Alma is that it is TexMex that is Austinified. Everything feels a little more unique and special than your classic TexMex options. I started off with a Mezcal Margarita that put a little hair on my chest and got me going. My group ordered two of their Nachitos, which were these nice nachos. For my main entrée, I got 3 Al Pastor tacos on corn with a side of their rice and beans. Their pastor was served with pineapples, onions, and cilantro with limes on the side. They were great and I immediately crushed them all. I thought their rice and beans were pretty good as well and a step above the typical TexMex rice and beans. The server was pretty attentive throughout our whole visit, and I honestly have no complaints about what they had to offer. Pricing on the meal and drinks was pretty standard for Austin, and I didn't think anything really took me out of the experience. On top of that, for being in Barton Springs, there is quite a bit of parking. I would love to come back at some point in the future and hang out on their rooftop bar because that seems like a lot of fun. Shoutout to El Alma for being a TexMex oasis saving me from the MoPac traffic. RIYL: TexMex, but better than your average

But the five stars is for the guacamole. The Chicken Pibil Quesadilla "Pizza" (chihuahua, cotija, oaxaca, smoked tomatoes, jalapeño, chimichurri, crema, epazote) was good, but the guacamole was stellar, and we are picky. It could have been the pomegranate or the pickled jalapeño or the red onion (all listed on the menu), but I really think they juiced a whole lime. It is like "try to replicate at home" good. It is like "best thing we ate in Texas this trip besides maybe those two slices of butter cake" good.

We found their sign down on the street and decided to try them. Immediately upon walking in, we felt unwelcomed. We waited 10 minutes at the front desk for someone to even address us, and then were told to wait while they cleared off a table for us. Twenty minutes later, we went back up to ask about the table and were actually told by the staff that they forgot about it. Finally a table was set for us and we sat down. We all ordered drinks and asked for water at this point. The water was brought, but we waited and waited for our drinks. After another 20 minutes and watching the bartenders (who were not busy this evening) make no moves to make our drinks, we got up and left. I have never had such an experience at a restaurant before. I guess if you do not have a reservation, you are unwelcome here.

So we were thinking of tacos or Mexican food and my daughter suggested this spot as she had come here with some friends and really enjoyed their sopecitos. I had never had a sopecito! What is that! So we had to try... We were lucky to arrive at the right time (9 pm!) where we got their last table!! Make reservations or something because this is another one of those places that fills up! So- we were taken care of immediately: chips and some very hot salsas were set on the table while we chose. They menu is in QR code format, but we asked and got paper menus as well. Well I got the chicken sopecitos , my daughter got the pork ones and my partner got the meat tacos. Everything was delicious, the food arrived promptly, the portion size was perfect and bountiful and everything was super enjoyable. I really enjoyed trying some New Mexican favorites. Next time I will try some other delicacies since I always get tacos tacos burritos or quesadillas: time for some new items on the menu! Enjoy!

I started with a strong house margarita and followed it up with a lychee martini (not on the HH menu) The martini was really pretty but tasted more like a strawberry lemonade. Tacos de Pescado and Tacos Alambre were delicious!! I also ordered Hamachi (not on the HH menu) which was the best hamachi I've ever had, seriously! The flavors were tangy, sweet and paired perfectly. I enjoyed the Tacos de Pescado just as much as the hamachi the pickled cabbage was the surprising star of the plate! Our server (Taylor?) was very sweet. She explained the menu well and made great recommendations. Parking is very tricky in the area so I took rideshare! I wanted to taste the poblano, ricotta, and mole, but the acidity was too much. Guac was really good. The small slices of jalapeño gave it a nice kick. Chips were way too salty though. Esquites were just okay. I usually like a little sweetness, but these leaned more savory, not really my thing. Queso fundido wasn't for me either. The pickled chiles didn't work, I think onions and tomatoes would've been better. Machete was the best part. Huge portion, really good, and I added corn which made it even better.
