De Oros has two trucks, which led to some confusion on our part. Both are on 24th Street, but one is in the O'Reilley Autoparts parking lot at Vinton Street) and the other - the one listed on Yelp here - is at G Street in the 'Envios de Dinero' parking lot. You can see it on Google Streetview and everything. This was an interesting taco tour stop for several reasons... first, it was super busy and on a busy street. Second, because this was the first time in my life I've met a quesadilla I didn't like (old grease explosion is how I'd describe it) and third, because when I went across the street to use the restroom I considered using the mens single-holer since there was someone in the women's... DON'T. That mens' restroom is one of those restrooms you may have nightmares about. (Probably best to either pee before you go, or just drive right on by here in general). As you may have gathered, I wasn't enamored with the food. Waiting in line... during the hottest part of the day may have had something to do with that? But really, the food was just kind of rough. Everything was kind of mushy and greasy, the Al pastor appeared to be topped with canned pineapple and even the shells weren't really palatable. The coke was good and cold though.

    Great tacos our calling card

After work at Worlds-Best-Web Designer.com we can to this taco truck either I was very hungry or these were the best tacos, I had in a very long time. Most of use are from Mexico and know our tacos, Prices are very fair and service was spot on .

Being born and raised in LA you get accustomed to seeing food trucks and loncheras outside of events and shows parked in parking lots with lines of people ordering food. Wanted to enjoy this Tuesday by celebrating Taco Tuesday and trying out a food truck here in Omaha. It was a bit hard to find at first since I didn't know how the truck looked like (thanks to all those who took a picture of it). Then I found it! There were a few sketchy people around, but that didnt bug me cause I was hungry!! I ordered two tacos de Carne Asada and a Horchata! My, my it was delicious! Can never get enough of street tacos on a Tuesday night. Reminded me of home :)

Four tacos for $6? Hard to beat. Ordered two asada and two pastor. Even during the lunch rush, my order came up fast and fresh. They also have a little self-serve salsa bar, with three types of fresh salsa two mix and match plus various pickled veggies you can throw in on the side. The tacos were pretty basic -- double corn tortilla, meat and cilantro and onion. They threw in some pineapple slices in the pastor tacos as well, but overall they were a bit greasy for my liking. The asada tacos were definitely the better of two. Looking forward to stopping by again in the future. My question is, is there more than one Dos de Oros truck? The one I went to was just south of 24th and Vinton.

I ate at the Dos de Oros (North) in the parking lot of O'Reilly Auto Parts on 24th St, a block south of Vinton. It looks to be just a standard do it yourself food truck, but with a nice condiment bar. I ordered four carnitas tacos and an alpastor burrito. They hand you two small cups to fill up with a choice of three salsas, traditional red and greens. My tacos came in a double corn tortilla with a nice pico de gallo, cilantro and onions mixed in the carnitas. they were a little dry but they almost soaked up the salsa good enough, making the tacos three stars. The burrito was good as well, but none were anything spectacular. Overall, just a standard Mexican food truck.

Disappointment is all i can say. They are now using flour shells for the tacos where as they used too use corn. Wont go back.

Best taco truck in town. Cheap, consistent, with amazing salsas. Bean and cheese burrito with a regular tostada is my normal order.

Family-run taquerias are owned and operated by folks who often feature family recipes passed on by grandparents and other relatives who came from Mexico and beyond. You'll find familia in the kitchen. If that doesn't make it authentic, I guess I don't know what authentic means. That being said, Big Bro and I tried Los Portales recently. We were underwhelmed by the flavors until we put on the sauces. Sauces are a perfect example of differences in preference, not authenticity. The ones at Los Portales were thinner than what I prefer, but the flavors were just what was needed. What one person likes, another doesn't. The presentations were beautiful and the portions were large. I had a gordita which I expected to love but didn't. The thick house made tortilla was tasty, but I discovered I like crispy better. We devoured the guac and chips, delicious. Big Bro ordered his go-to for Mexican restaurants, chimichanga but it was just ok. Adding sauce made it more flavorful. Many people prefer the food at Los Portales and call it authentic. I also call it authentic, but prefer other recipes.

The service was fantastic, and it felt like a true family restaurant. The chips were so good, and the salsa was spicy but not too much for people with sensitive palates. I love this style of chips, not a thin restaurant style but a thicker, more savory bite. We went through one portion before our food got to us and they brought more out when I asked. I highly recommend the tacos. I made a mistake and asked for birria not quesabirria tacos, so make sure to specify that if you want quesabirria (with cheese). But, the birria was good anyways! I also got the taco macho (see the pic for what's inside), and wish I would've ordered 2 of those! My husband got the huitlacoche and squash blossom tacos and they were both so good. I was so impressed they had huitlacoche as an option, I've never seen that before! The drinks were ordered and delivered from the server, but she said since they're working on a liquor license they have a bar next door that makes them. If you order a drink with your food, they charge for the drinks and food separate for that reason. I liked my jalapeño margarita! My husband got a cantarito and said it's the best one he's had from all the places we've tried to far!
