I'll definitely keep coming back.

This is quite possibly the worst "Mexican" food I've ever had in my life. We ordered several items…read moreand not a single thing was good. Where do I even start? "Big Tacos" - these aren't big at all. They're basically the size of Taco Bell's small hardshell tacos, except almost twice the price and half the quality. The ground beef was dry and bland. The shells had the same texture, consistency, and flavor that you'd find in a cheap box of DIY shells from ALDI, except worse. "Rolled Tacos" - these are taquitos. Just call them what they are. Again, the meat was dry and bland. Tasted like it came out of a pre-made frozen box that they sprinkled some shredded cheese on before heating up. "Cheese Quesdilla" - this was 100% just straight up microwaved. At no point did the tortillas touch a hot pan. To add insult to injury, they put sour cream INSIDE the quesadilla before microwaving it, causing the sour cream to become hot, broken down, and of course making the microwaved quesadilla even soggier. Apparently no one told them sour cream is supposed to be a COLD condiment. The best part about our visit was the drive thru, which wasn't great, either. The person repeated our order wrong no fewer than 3 times at the speaker, and again no fewer than 3 times at the window. The person wasn't rude or unfriendly by any means; just seemed like their manager set them up to fail by providing little to no training for the role.

The reason…read morefor that is I pulled up in drive-through and ordered a #3 with no beans and no lettuce and 4 fried beef tacos with no lettuce and extra cheese. I paid over $30.00 and the order was completely wrong. I got home and took the time to call, and at first I was told if you come back I will refund you and remake your food. That was a bait and switch. I had to waste another 20 minutes of my time driving back expecting to be refunded due to their error and have my order made correctly. They did remake my food but the enchiladas were small and skinny and the tacos the beef was burnt and I was not refunded. So I wasted an hour of my time and 30 dollars of my hard-earned money. It's one thing to mess up someone's order and promise to fix it but when they get there you don't honor what you say on the phone. Again save your money and time, don't eat there. There are other Mexican restaurants who will be glad to serve you.

I have to be honest, I've only had tacos. I always start with tacos anywhere I go to see if they do those well. My general thought is that if they can't do tacos well, they probably aren't doing other things well. Unreliable and unscientific, to be sure, but it's my process. I can safely report that El Alteño does tacos right. The chorizo tacos were excellent, as were the chicken tacos. Seasoned to perfection and the chicken is so juicy and tender. The tacos come with onions and cilantro. And if you like your tacos with a dollop of guacamole, you won't get it here. But don't worry, they bring you an avocado salsa that will knock your socks off. All their salsas are solid. The service is good and it's been pretty efficient in my visits. They have an extensive menu that I hope to start exploring next time. Then again, the tacos are so good, why get anything else?
