3.5 STARS mr. Tran had a bad craving for tacos and looked up some places on google, and he stumbled upon Dos Amigos Tacos. The only tacos I've ever fell in love with was the tacos I've had in LA. They had BIG flavour, great portion size and the prices were reasonable. I'm not a fan of tacos in Toronto cause you don't really find good ones comparable to the ones in America. But since mr. Tran wanted some, as a supporting and loving wife, I wholeheartedly agree that we set out to get some. On the drive there, he told me it would be around an industrial area and the business was in a small cart. mr. Tran asked what I wanted and I asked for chicken and fish. About 5-10 minutes of waiting in the car, he came back with 4 tacos (2 fish tacos spicy and 2 chicken tacos; 1 spicy, and 1 mild). We had toddler in the car and I gave her the mild chicken taco to try, but I think that was too spicy for her. Took my first bite of the fish tacos, it was crispy and light, the sauce was spicy and I liked that. Had cabbage and pickled onions as garnish, but what I did not like was that there were fries on the bottom of the taco with the fish. Not sure if it was a texture thing, or trying to skimp on the fish by adding fries. The same thing in the chicken as well. Chicken was soft and juicy, but it had more fries than chicken on the chicken taco. For $5 a taco, I expected better. With that being said, tacos were tasty, but not $5 tasty.

So tasty I forgot to take a pic before I started!

Wow! I've been dying for a place close to home that makes decent tacos! The stand is a one man show (sweetest 60 yr old from Mexico) so you'll need to be patient, but the tacos are absolutely wonderful! We tried the beef, the pork and the fish. Our favourites are beef and fish (definitely the most flavourful). They also have vegetarian and chicken. The ingredients are fresh, made to order and sauces and garnishes are on point. Prices seemed to have gone up tho, $5 each, but not surprised. I'm so glad and lucky I checked this place out today as it turns out it's a seasonal joint that only opened just in time for Cinco de Mayo this year. He's only open till about 4ish, and I think only on weekdays (?). We'll be back FOR SURE!

Cutest little taco truck ever! U can't miss it driving down John street westbound! I've been meaning to check it out and so happen to be drive by and saw the little tiny food truck! There aren't too many authentic taco joints in Toronto let alone a food truck, so was super excited to check it out. Their tacos are $4 each, I believe he said they have beef, chicken and fish. I got 3 fish tacos, coz he was just freshly battering them up! Love the panko like batter less greasy than traditional beer batter fish tacos! Don't think I need to bother trying the rest, I'll be back for their fish tacos again for sure!! They are open Monday to Saturday. With Saturday shortened hours 11:30-3pm I think the owner said. Rest of the week 11:30-5pm.

HIDDEN GEM! I just discovered this tiny food stand that serves simple but yummy tacos!!! You can normal find him at John St. and Steelescast in Markham. He is usually there from 11am-3pm. No menu sign, but he will tell you the prices: $4 each or 3 for $10 and your choice of chicken, beef, pork, and fish along with your choice of spice level. My fav are the chicken and fish! They were yummy with the fixings he put in the tacos! A little warning, if you order spicy, it is pretty spicy but good! Also, be prepare to wait as he serves one customer at a time! I would definitely go back as the weather gets better cuz it is just nice to eat tacos outdoor!!

Pork and a half-eaten fish taco

Very good tacos for the price. Simple menu, tasty and good value. The one-person operation was professional and pleasant and located in a parking lot - what a good truck should be.

Fish taco with spicy sauce! They have fries at the bottom!! Super tasty !!

Unbelievable tacos, as someone who's favourite cuisine is Mexican, the pork tacos are probably the tastiest tacos I've ever had.

I was very pleasantly surprised by the quality, and quantity served by a very nice man named Enrique whom I ended up talking with for quite some time.

Parking (including underground) is quite limited there - so best to come carpooling or explore nearby parking. One good thing is that the organizer does have a designated parking area setup for people coming in. Setup There are multiple vendors - from food, drinks to small gifts, organizations and even non-profits to promote anything! There are also festivities and live performances based on a schedule - so make sure to grab a seat if you want to watch any of them. I usually come for the food - to see what's new and exciting and what is not out there in restaurants. Inflation over the years have risen a lot of prices - so it could range anywhere from $10 for a drink to $15-$20 for food. Quantity wise - depending on where you look - can vary. You may have to spend at least 1-2 dishes to feel full. It's a staple yearly event that happens in Markham - definitely do check it out - and you may little hidden surprises !

NIU's always been synonymous with funky smell, gimmicky lights, a packed crowd and overpriced food. Yet the reason, I suppose ppl go is the camaraderie with friends and for a night out w/ significant others? The annual event always happens in the markham VIP theater parking lot and you'll probably need to park near the AVIVA building. Parking fills up quick so you might need to end up parking far and walking over. As soon you get near you'll notice the pungent smell of stinky tofu wafting through the entire lot and permeating your nostrils. My first year back this year w/ my gf and everything started at $10+. I think I must've spent close to $150 by the end of the night. Gf was happy. My wallet? Not so much LOOLL. They had dance, band and singer performances on a main stage throughout the night (basically like an outdoor concert). If you get lost from your group of friends good luck trying to find them cuz chances are you're not gonna have good cell signal either. You'll see a lot of gimmicky food vendors at NIU so pick and choose wisely! Cool experience for a first time if you've never been. If you've already been, you can hard skip a couple years before revisiting. It's always the same thing so you won't ever feel the FOMO.

However, this one across from Scarborough Town Centre is roughly half the distance for me to get to by car. This Street Eats Market is where Old Scott House used to be. Years ago, when I worked in Scarborough, a colleague was about to retire. A handful of us came here for his farewell dinner. I was fortunate to be a part of it and that restaurant had the best chateaubriand that I shared with a friend. Sadly, this restaurant died and became a Baton Rouge. I never dined there, but it also folded. I am pleased that Street Eats Market has made a home here. I dropped by last Friday for a late lunch. I decided to park in front of Walmart, across from the entrance that is also close to Best Buy. Technically, there wasn't a pedestrian crossing for me to cross the street. However, my spending three years working nearby helped. I still remembered how the traffic lights are timed at this intersection, which includes off-ramp traffic from highway 401 that isn't as crazy as exiting off McCowan. I safely made it across. If you want to play it safer as a pedestrian, park at the Best Buy lot (there's lot of parking) and walk over. There is a pedestrian crossing on the north side of Progress Avenue. Alternatively, there's another entrance with parking further east. However, that one is the main entrance to Street Eats Market and is a lot busier. There are two main food trucks that attracted me to drop by: - Rick's Good Eats - BeaverTails I absolutely love the food from both places. Since I had purchased a bunch of donuts earlier in the day, I decided to skip BeaverTails this visit and focus on Rick's Good Eats. I had my eyes on the tandoori gar-par wings. They are strictly available at this food truck and not at their Mississauga restaurant. There were a bunch of other food options that tempted me, but I am a wings fanatic and had to get them. I approached the food truck and had a friendly female staffer take my order. I ordered the wings and got a watermelon lemonade to wash everything down. I paid for my food with my debit card. Including a tip, it was $25. It's not cheap eating at food trucks. Since I love them so much and don't do it often, I was perfectly fine shelling out. She said that it would take ten minutes to complete my order. I was good. It allowed me to walk around, although it was spitting rain. I was prepared, armed with my umbrella. She asked whether I wanted the watermelon lemonade now and with my order. I went with the former. The watermelon lemonade was in a cute bottle. It was $7, which seemed expensive. I am glad that it came in one size or I'd be drinking that stuff all day. It was so refreshing. It's more lemony than watermelony. It wasn't overly sweet. I was happy. My wings were ready. I was thrilled and excited. I thanked the woman and headed over to my car with my food, thanking the greeter at the main Street Eats Market entrance along the way. I safely crossed the intersection, got into my car, and chowed down. A man parked a couple of spots away from my car made the same journey over to the market. The tandoori gar-par wings are exactly what you'd expect from Rick's Good Eats. The wings were a decent size and meaty. The tandoori spices were so flavourful. There was some heat and it built up as I had wing after wing. There was parsley sprinkled on top, which brought lovely pops of colour. The hints of garlic and parmesan made these wings out-of-this-world delicious! I saw perhaps two food trucks closed during my visit. I don't know whether it was due to weather, but I have now visited two Street Market Eats locations on gloomy days that threatened rain and the variety of food vendors has been great. This one also has Meltwich, Tut's, El Bosco, and more. The next food truck that I have had on my radar is Get Your Own Taters. It happened to be next to Rick's Good Eats. I love tater tots and their gourmet offerings looked incredible. It's crazy that I visited two food trucks in three days. I thought that I could safely say that I had visited both locations. I found out after my visit that a third location in Vaughan just opened this weekend. Well, you know what that means... I need to head to Vaughan soon! I dig this location across from Scarborough Town Centre. I can't wait to return and try more offerings from other food trucks. (277)

So we had to line up to get in. When we got to the end of the line up, we were in front of Laz-Boy's store. But the line moved quickly and we were inside the compound in about 7 minutes after lining up. Once we were inside, it was food trucks galore! After browsing on the numerous options available, we decided on something we have never tried: The Funky Patacon. We ordered a Flying Porky (pulled pork) and Pata Grilled (beef tenderloin). The wait time was about 10+ minutes and we got our food. We also ordered 2 drinks from Alijandro's: Pomegranate and Mango Lime lemonades. Onto the food. We have never had plantains before and this was a pleasant surprise. The subtle sweetness of the plantains went really well with the pork and beef tenderloin (respectively). Both tasted great! The drinks were refreshing also. Overall experience was amazing. There will be other food trucks coming soon. Thanks Street Eats Market and STC for hosting and setting things up!

The chicken sandwich was filled with their signature chicken tender, coleslaw, pickles dressed with some house sauce. The chicken tender was coated in thick batter and tossed in their mild spice seasoning. The fries were crinkle cut and also tossed in the same seasoning. TBH, we didn't enjoy this meal as much as we though we would. The chicken sandwich bun tasted bland, the chicken tender could've been juicy-er and our fries were cold.
