When I found out that another Street Eats Market was opening up in Scarborough, I was ecstatic. The original location at Hillcrest Mall in Thornhill is convenient to get to. However, this one across from Scarborough Town Centre is roughly half the distance for me to get to by car. This Street Eats Market is where Old Scott House used to be. Years ago, when I worked in Scarborough, a colleague was about to retire. A handful of us came here for his farewell dinner. I was fortunate to be a part of it and that restaurant had the best chateaubriand that I shared with a friend. Sadly, this restaurant died and became a Baton Rouge. I never dined there, but it also folded. I am pleased that Street Eats Market has made a home here. I dropped by last Friday for a late lunch. I decided to park in front of Walmart, across from the entrance that is also close to Best Buy. Technically, there wasn't a pedestrian crossing for me to cross the street. However, my spending three years working nearby helped. I still remembered how the traffic lights are timed at this intersection, which includes off-ramp traffic from highway 401 that isn't as crazy as exiting off McCowan. I safely made it across. If you want to play it safer as a pedestrian, park at the Best Buy lot (there's lot of parking) and walk over. There is a pedestrian crossing on the north side of Progress Avenue. Alternatively, there's another entrance with parking further east. However, that one is the main entrance to Street Eats Market and is a lot busier. There are two main food trucks that attracted me to drop by: - Rick's Good Eats - BeaverTails I absolutely love the food from both places. Since I had purchased a bunch of donuts earlier in the day, I decided to skip BeaverTails this visit and focus on Rick's Good Eats. I had my eyes on the tandoori gar-par wings. They are strictly available at this food truck and not at their Mississauga restaurant. There were a bunch of other food options that tempted me, but I am a wings fanatic and had to get them. I approached the food truck and had a friendly female staffer take my order. I ordered the wings and got a watermelon lemonade to wash everything down. I paid for my food with my debit card. Including a tip, it was $25. It's not cheap eating at food trucks. Since I love them so much and don't do it often, I was perfectly fine shelling out. She said that it would take ten minutes to complete my order. I was good. It allowed me to walk around, although it was spitting rain. I was prepared, armed with my umbrella. She asked whether I wanted the watermelon lemonade now and with my order. I went with the former. The watermelon lemonade was in a cute bottle. It was $7, which seemed expensive. I am glad that it came in one size or I'd be drinking that stuff all day. It was so refreshing. It's more lemony than watermelony. It wasn't overly sweet. I was happy. My wings were ready. I was thrilled and excited. I thanked the woman and headed over to my car with my food, thanking the greeter at the main Street Eats Market entrance along the way. I safely crossed the intersection, got into my car, and chowed down. A man parked a couple of spots away from my car made the same journey over to the market. The tandoori gar-par wings are exactly what you'd expect from Rick's Good Eats. The wings were a decent size and meaty. The tandoori spices were so flavourful. There was some heat and it built up as I had wing after wing. There was parsley sprinkled on top, which brought lovely pops of colour. The hints of garlic and parmesan made these wings out-of-this-world delicious! I saw perhaps two food trucks closed during my visit. I don't know whether it was due to weather, but I have now visited two Street Market Eats locations on gloomy days that threatened rain and the variety of food vendors has been great. This one also has Meltwich, Tut's, El Bosco, and more. The next food truck that I have had on my radar is Get Your Own Taters. It happened to be next to Rick's Good Eats. I love tater tots and their gourmet offerings looked incredible. It's crazy that I visited two food trucks in three days. I thought that I could safely say that I had visited both locations. I found out after my visit that a third location in Vaughan just opened this weekend. Well, you know what that means... I need to head to Vaughan soon! I love this idea of having the variety of food trucks all located in a parking lot! Since they took over the lot where Baton Rouge was, there's a gravel lot next to it where you can park. So we had to line up to get in. When we got to the end of the line up, we were in front of Laz-Boy's store. But the line moved quickly and we were inside the compound in about 7 minutes after lining up. Once we were inside, it was food trucks galore! After browsing on the numerous options available, we decided on something we have never tried: The Funky Patacon. We ordered a Flying Porky (pulled pork) and Pata Grilled (beef tenderloin). The wait time was about 10+ minutes and we got our food. We also ordered 2 drinks from Alijandro's: Pomegranate and Mango Lime lemonades. Onto the food. We have never had plantains before and this was a pleasant surprise. The subtle sweetness of the plantains went really well with the pork and beef tenderloin (respectively). Both tasted great! Found out about Get Your Own Taters (GYOT) at the Night Market Toronto. Went here first as per recommendation by my sister. We got the bulgogi. We waited for about 10 minutes and it didn't disappoint. The bulgogi combined with the tater tots was delicious, then both mixed with the kimchi made it even better. The sauce topped it off too. It's a great snack! I'd get it again. read more

I've been hearing a lot about this new year round Street Eat Market in Scarborough Town Centre. This awesome street cuisine haven is offering insane amount of delicious food trucks and even better yet they will be open all year long, 7 days a week from 12-7 pm. I ordered mango lassi from chaska Indian food truck, it was a little bit sour, or maybe that's how it taste but most of the mango lassi I tried from restaurants are sweet. This is the Scarborough location of Street Eats Market. To be clear there are locations in Vaughan (pronounced Vaw-Han) and Markham (pronounced Mark-ham). There is soon to be a location in Mississauga (not sure on the pronunciation of that town, its a new suburb of Toronto I am guessing?) but this review concerns the Scarborough location (pronounced Scar-bore-row). This market, organized by a very astute and polite young man named Phil was the third of its kind and currently the only one still active (to my knowledge). The vendors have changed a few times but what is constant is a permanent residency near the Scarborough Town Center full of food trucks galore. They opened right before the uneducated Ford flip-flopped in March 2021 on whether outdoor dining would open or close, so they unfortunately had setup numerous tables for outdoor dining, then had to remove them, and put them back once the Ontario Government could finally make a logical educated decision. Not being the Market's fault, they adapted each time and had plenty of outdoor garbages and washrooms available to the public. When social distancing and crowd sizes were being maintained, they had a gate system to help control this. Some of my favorites that I believe are no longer there: Tuts Egyptian sandwiches, served in cute little boxes they were perfect for on-the-go and to take home/away. Chaska Indian Cuisine also had great butter-chicken wraps served in take-away boxes. The Cuban Thing also had a nice Cubano, but after returning as well as checking their official website, it looks like these three food trucks have left the market. Still around and kicking; The Beignet Shoppe as well as 6 Spice Rack. Alone these places are delicious, fresh Beignets including unique flavors like Ube, and fried chicken monster sandwiches, but the best food item (IMHO) from the entire festival was a fusion/collab between these two, the Fried Chicken Beignet Sandwich. Its the signature sandwich from 6 Spice Rack except the buns are two Beignets! There are new trucks there so despite losing some of my favorites, there's new options for your next visit! read more

Had dinner and dessert at the street eats market and both spots were really good, there was no lineup coming in and Service was also good. 6 Spice rack : We had the KFC with sweet potato fries and a chicken sandwich with regular fries and both were absolutely delicious and super failing. Funnel cake dream: 80 cookies and cream funnel cake from here and it was actually really good, it was a little bit crispy but that's how I like it. I was kind of hoping that it was going to be more of a crumbled cookie, but it was bigger bit of Oreo instead. read more

I enjoyed the Street Eats Market. All of the vendors were great since there were a lot of varieties to choose from. I tried four different vendors and they all were really good except one vendor. The issue that I had with this particular vendor was that they're advertising photo for what is on their menu is not what you get in reality. The photo was a stock photo. I ordered a hot chicken sandwich and it was very very wet and messy. I do not remember the name of the vendor at the time but once I go again and I spot the vender I will update my review. read more

I love going here for a quick lunch or just to try something different! It's ran efficiently for the most part. I have not been to every food truck but for the ones I've been to, the food has been great and relatively quick. My fav food truck is the Egyptian food truck (Apologies I always forget the name but the truck is yellow and black). I was unable to get photos because I was so excited to just chomp down. They have a few benches areas that are covered and they are spaced. Which of course, comes in handy with the pandemic. If you have not been. Stop thinking about going and park the car and hop inside. Let your stomach roll towards the food truck that it wants. read more

It was a bit hard to find at first since the mall parking lot is huge and depends on which street you came in on, make sure you drive around and look for it. It's open everyday and a great concept, lots of unique street foods you can't find at restaurants etc. Came during the day and there wasn't much people or much of a line up which is great, would be bad if it was crowded especially during covid. Our favorite from tuts sandwhich is the grilled chicken. The bread overall was so soft. The fries was also flavorful. Dipping the bread with the garlic was an extra bonus of flavor. Ferrero Roche cheesecakes was really good with its yummy coating of Ferrero Roche and topped with a Ferrero Roche chocolate as well. Yummy . This is my second time swinging around to this market. The first time, the line up was so long that I drove away. Second was on Father's Day so I was very surprised to find only about ten people lining up upon my arrival - wait wasn't too long. I'm a sucker for tater tots, so Get Your Own Taters' food truck had me lining up! I ordered the BUFFALO CALI TOUTINE which has a base similar to that of Montreal-style poutine. The dark gravy was smokey and very flavorful, pairing nicely with the LOADS of cheese curds. I love it when placed don't skimp on the cheese! To top it off, we have battered and fried cauliflower bites, tossed in Buffalo sauce, which had a nice sour kick but wasn't too spicy. Separately, these components were SO good, but they felt a little random to be paired together (4.6 out of 5.0 stars) I'd also like to mention that service was so friendly, A+++ in that department. There wasn't a line for this truck, and food was ready in 5-7 mins. I've always wanted to try BIRRIA TACOS after seeing videos of how they're made, all over Instagram! It's been hard to get my hands on them since I haven't managed to find a place that serves them in the GTA, but then I came across them at the Food Dudes food truck. I snatched two tacos for $12 plus tax. The tacos were as bomb as I expected them to be! The shells were so crispy, the beef was so juicy and tender! The whole thing had so much flavor to it, between the various spices, and other mix-ins like sauteed onions and cilantro. I wouldn't have minded more cheese, but I could definitely see the ooey gooey cheese inside. It also came with a side of consommé, which was such a flavorful stock, for your pouring or dipping needs. The hot sauce that also came with it added a sour kick! I could down so many of these! (4.8 out of 5.0 stars). This was a more popular truck at the market so naturally, the wait for my food was the longest here. I think about 15-20 mins. As a Canadian, I feel obligated to check "BEAVER TAILS" off my foodie list and I can now officially say that I have! I ordered the APPLE PIE was easily the most enticing flavor on their menu in my opinion. It had all the components; including crunchy apple slices, caramel sauce for a sweet touch, and crumble which is my favorite part. I was quite impressed with how airy the pastry dough was and the cinnamon sugar was so tasty. This treat was made to order and hot to touch, so good! (5.0 out of 5.0 stars). This was also a speedier truck to get your hands in your food despite its popularity, about 5 mins after ordering. Upon leaving, I passed by the SECOND section of the market! Located across the street on the north side of Scarborough town center, street eats market is a congregation of food trucks serving up fresh food. This place is open 7 days a week 12 to 7 pm but be aware to check the website to see which trucks are there on which days as not all are open all the time. The parking lot is mainly just a gravel area so it can be easy to miss. There are food trucks on either side of the parking area so don't miss out on half the trucks by focusing only on one side! Overall, lots of different options worth trying, prices seem reasonable for food trucks. It wasn't too busy though we were there on a weekday for a late lunch so I assume it can get quite busy on weekends. First of all the market is amazing but the food truck I went to was hot trash 5 stars for market zero stars for poutine truck. Went here again to try something new and went for the ultimate Canadian poutine at the poutine food truck. This was their featured poutine and I paid $18 after tax for this. I was expecting some cheesey greasy goodnesss but it was straight hot trash, the bacon wasn't even real bacon but store bought bacon bits that you sometimes find on a crappy ceasar salad. It was just a terrible poutine, horrible gravy and bacon bits from a shaker cup. I took a couple bites and this $18 poutine went straight to the trash. I felt scammed I have been to other food trucks and I expected to pay more for the unique dishes that actually taste good. In conclusion I enjoyed my previous visits to the street eats market but this poutine truck ruined it for me. I recommend if you want a poutine just go to the mall food court or better yet just dig through the trash bin you will definitely find something better than this horrendous poutine food truck food. read more

Rebozos was very bland, and definitely WAY overpriced. I usually don't complain and feel kinda bad, but hope they see this to hopefully get some constructive criticism. 20 dollars for flautas 3 little rolls of dried chicken with literally no flavor at all not even salt. I've had amazing mexican tacos and I feel like they dumbed the mexican flavors which sucks. You're better going off to 7 eleven for taquitos no offence. Literally worth 10 dollars not even. Try another food truck and I hope see this and change or add more flavor. Also they are selling Jarrito drinks and they aren't even twist offs and could not even drink it with my food. If it was 10 dollars maybe I wouldnt have written this but 20 DOLLARS?!?!?! read more
