I've been hearing a lot about this new year round Street Eat Market in Scarborough Town Centre. This awesome street cuisine haven is offering insane amount of delicious food trucks and even better yet they will be open all year long, 7 days a week from 12-7 pm. I ordered mango lassi from chaska Indian food truck, it was a little bit sour, or maybe that's how it taste but most of the mango lassi I tried from restaurants are sweet. I take along Egyptian Sandwiches from tut's food truck, it was freshly make in-house buns. They also have dairy free, halal, vegan and vegetarian options.

This is the Scarborough location of Street Eats Market. To be clear there are locations in Vaughan (pronounced Vaw-Han) and Markham (pronounced Mark-ham). There is soon to be a location in Mississauga (not sure on the pronunciation of that town, its a new suburb of Toronto I am guessing?) but this review concerns the Scarborough location (pronounced Scar-bore-row). This market, organized by a very astute and polite young man named Phil was the third of its kind and currently the only one still active (to my knowledge). The vendors have changed a few times but what is constant is a permanent residency near the Scarborough Town Center full of food trucks galore. They opened right before the uneducated Ford flip-flopped in March 2021 on whether outdoor dining would open or close, so they unfortunately had setup numerous tables for outdoor dining, then had to remove them, and put them back once the Ontario Government could finally make a logical educated decision. Not being the Market's fault, they adapted each time and had plenty of outdoor garbages and washrooms available to the public. When social distancing and crowd sizes were being maintained, they had a gate system to help control this. Some of my favorites that I believe are no longer there: Tuts Egyptian sandwiches, served in cute little boxes they were perfect for on-the-go and to take home/away. Chaska Indian Cuisine also had great butter-chicken wraps served in take-away boxes. The Cuban Thing also had a nice Cubano, but after returning as well as checking their official website, it looks like these three food trucks have left the market. Still around and kicking; The Beignet Shoppe as well as 6 Spice Rack. Alone these places are delicious, fresh Beignets including unique flavors like Ube, and fried chicken monster sandwiches, but the best food item (IMHO) from the entire festival was a fusion/collab between these two, the Fried Chicken Beignet Sandwich. Its the signature sandwich from 6 Spice Rack except the buns are two Beignets! There are new trucks there so despite losing some of my favorites, there's new options for your next visit!

Had dinner and dessert at the street eats market and both spots were really good, there was no lineup coming in and Service was also good. 6 Spice rack : We had the KFC with sweet potato fries and a chicken sandwich with regular fries and both were absolutely delicious and super failing. Funnel cake dream: 80 cookies and cream funnel cake from here and it was actually really good, it was a little bit crispy but that's how I like it. I was kind of hoping that it was going to be more of a crumbled cookie, but it was bigger bit of Oreo instead.

This 2021 summer version of the Street Eats was a coordinated event hosted by Toronto Carnival + Street Eats + STC. The Simcoe Day long weekend festivities included food trucks, small vendors, and live entertainment on the property of and adjacent to the Old Scott House on Progress Ave. A great way to spend some outdoor time supporting the local community!

Long lines...half of the vendors were closed. It was a little disappointing but maybe it gets better when the weather gets better.

Ferakh and Soguk is our favorite.

Our favorite from tuts sandwhich is the grilled chicken. The bread overall was so soft. The fries was also flavorful. Dipping the bread with the garlic was an extra bonus of flavor. Ferrero Roche cheesecakes was really good with its yummy coating of Ferrero Roche and topped with a Ferrero Roche chocolate as well. Yummy . Crunchy coating with the soft texture of the cheesecake inside. Love the overall texture in a bite.

That's amazing; I love meeting hard working and ambitious individuals like this! During the Mississauga Waterfront Festival, I had the pleasure of meeting Leo and the team after being extremely intrigued by the name 'ribbon fries' - I was NOT disappointed. They are like the tornado potato fries (which they also offer) but they are not on a stick, and on a plate, they look simply delicious. Seriously, we had the plate on our table for less than a minute before a passerby demanded to know what it was and went to order it right away. I bit into it, expecting it to taste like regular ol' chippy things, but to my delight, these were the freshest potatoes EVER! They were also perfectly salted. Omnomnom. The truck is a bit plain and could definitely use better marketing to sell these amazing fries and poutines. I think they're thinking of revamping it to draw in da crowdz - he also recently got a new TV that broadcasts pics of the food offered! Steppin' up the game! Definitely hit this truck up if you happen to spot it at a festival!

The husband and wife team manning the truck were so adorable and so friendly, I felt like I was family! The food offerings here were not your over the top stereotypical food truck eats, instead they focused on doing classic menu items (hamburgers, sausages, hot dogs, fries, poutine, etc) I was only looking for a snack and when I walked up so when I asked for their personal recommendations they suggested that I go with their poutine. The portion of poutine was massive and the cheese curds were perfectly mixed throughout (which is actually an accomplishment since so many places just top their fries with cheese). The best was the gravy; hot, thick (without lump) and a great salty flavour! IT's hard to know where I'll bump into these guys again but I'm interested to try their other offerings next time I see them Eatcrest Out

When he passed with the bowl I could feel that it was quite heavy. It was loaded with so many different toppings, black beans, corn, cilantro, red peppers, rice, chicken. The water stations provided by the event host had a long line and not wanting to wait I decided to purchase a few water bottles for my friends and I because we were all very dehydrated. I went to this food truck because it had the shortest line. And of course there was a reason why. When it came to my turn to order, I asked for 3 bottles of water. The employee was very rude and said "you want water you have to buy food. No food, no water" I asked why can't I just buy the bottle waters and he said "Water is for customers only, if you're not ordering, leave" But if I'm buying water at $5.50 does that not make me a customer? I'm still spending money at the business and paying $5.50 for 1 bottle of water!! Being desperate, I order 2 tacos for $12.42, and asked for 3 waters. Again, the employee so rudely said "Only 1 bottle, if you want more you have to order more tacos" .. I was in disbelief. I paid $17.92 for 2 crappy and dried, barely any sauce chicken tacos.. all for 1 bottle of water. Had the food tasted better, maybe I wouldn't be as upset. But chewing the chicken was like rubbing sand against my mouth. I am telling this story not because I want to damage the business by any means, I like supporting small businesses when I can, but when a business is not honest, ethical or morally right I feel like I should speak up. Needless to say, I will not support this business and do not recommend anyone to support such an inhumane and unethical business. I have attached photos of how they responded to my Facebook review. As you can see it doesn't really make sense that they only had 2 cases of water. This was simply just a money grab opportunity.
