I went here with my family on Saturday for a dinner. We drove to Kamloops for a weekend getaway. I browsed some places in Kamloops for something different and thought this place was it! Ambience was beautiful. The interior felt exotic like you're in Greece. It also had photos of Greece as well. Patio would be the best spot for dining. Anyways, we ordered Sleemans honey brown ($8.75), Greek Platter ($72) and Steak and Spaghetti ($32). Greek salad and pita breads were pretty good. Greek Platter was big enough to share. Shrimp, Calamari, chicken and ribs were nicely cooked; however the food was salty. We somehow smelled lamb while eating potatoes. Turns out there was no lamb, but pork. Pork wasn't seasoned right to mask its smell. Even when I ate a potato, I can smell the pork from it. I didn't find it pleasant smelling pork while eating. Nothing to complain about shrimp and Calamari. Steak and Spaghetti came in good portion as well. Steak was tasty. Spaghetti itself was alright. Food could've been better for sure. Staff were nice and friendly. Just that food was too pricy for what it was. It's best to go elsewhere. read more

The food is usually great, but tonight, I ordered through their website to pick it up. The site said it would be ready within 30-40 minutes, and wasn't ready for an hour. My nine year old and I went for a walk for 20 minutes to pass the time then came back at the time the staff had verbally told us upon arrival. When we returned, the food still wasn't ready, we weren't greeted or acknowledged and we stood in the doorway for another 30 minutes without being offered to sit in the many vacant seats etc. When we got home, our two order meal was missing a garlic toast for one of the pastas. Otherwise it was fine. I would recommend you plan to eat in the restaurant and not to bother with their online order system. read more

honestly it was ok, i've eaten better greek food. there was one server who was condescending and VERY rude . The server made multiple curt comments about the food that one of our companions had order saying " wow didn't know we were serving a bunch of twelve year olds ". frankly i thought that was unprofessional on her behalf and was disappointed by the service. The food was not appetizing nor fresh. everyone from our table had order supposedly a big portion, yet how did the food look microwaved and built for one . I was craving Greek food and Dorian's was just a short walk from my place so I decided to go there. My boyfriend and I got the chicken souvlaki dinner to share between the two of us after being told that one skewer is 9 oz of chicken breast (basically 2 breasts on a skewer)! A head's up that the 2 chicken souvlaki dinner just comes with a second skewer and not a second serving of the sides. I think it's a bit misleading on the menu but the person I spoke to when I made my order clarified for me. The order was ready of pick-up in about 30 mins. The chicken was well seasoned but quite dry, but like I was told, there was a lot of it so I was happy about that! Other than the dry chicken, everything else was good. The potatoes were fluffy and the rice was flavourful. The salad was a pretty standard Greek salad (tomatoes, cucumbers, onion, feta) but I'm very glad they didn't use iceberg lettuce as extra "filler" for the salad. Craving satisfied! read more

I am completing my review a bit later than usual. I was coming in from Vancouver and needed something to eat. Based on fellow Yelper's reviews I decided to give this Greek restaurant a try. Background: I lived in Vancouver almost all my life. I have travelled from Richmond to Port Coquitlam to try different Greek restaurants. Service: Before I even get to the door, I was greet by a young man to seat me. I went there during the summer time so I asked for the patio upstairs. I was lead to a table in the patio. Atmosphere: High ceilings and really reminds me of the Greek restaurants in GVRD. No live music. The patio is covered and nice, but because the trees are right in front of me, I was not able to see anything beyond the leaves. Taste: I ordered the roast lamb ($26). The lamb is moist and juicy. The sauce and seasoning is just right. The potatoes are a bit dry. The pita bread was served fresh and warm. Portion: Average portions compared to the Greek restaurants. Price: $26 for a lamb dinner is quite expensive compared to the Greek restaurants back in GVRD. Overall: I may come back again if I have a bad craving for Greek, but otherwise I may stay away to keep my money in my pocket. read more

Been eating Jimmy's cooking for 25 years ! Anyways, very , very good service, very , very big portions, and very, very good food. We shared the appy platter. My Dad had the Lamb. We had 2 half litres of wine, and a side salad, all for under $ 100. We like the location. We like the atmosphere. We like all the plants. I also notice, that all the servers that were not busy with customers were busy cleaning and wiping things down ! ( very important ) . Overall great value for the price you pay. It is a little on the expensive side, but for two good reasons: delicious, hearty Greek food, AND lot's of it. If you think the lunch portions are huge, get a load of the dinner portions. They're really like a 2-in-1 meal with the amount of food you get, and GOOD food for that matter. Both times that I've visited, I haven't been let down. Service was speedy, though a little unenthusiastic. A fantastic Greek atmosphere, with photos of Greece, plants, tiled walls, fake marble pillar decorations, and a lovely Greek melody in the speakers. Finally had a chance to dine here again a week ago. This time for lunch as my dinner plans for the previous night were changed. I must say that no one left hungry. My traditional dinner is the Dorian Platter so my wife and I can taste many different things. It's also offered in a scaled down version at lunch but I opted for a spanakopita lunch while my wife had moussaka. We shared the entrees. Yum. Two of the gals we were with ordered the other platter with ribs, calamari, etc. shared, it could have fed four or five a nice lunch. Service was good. Prices reasonable. Portions generous. Usually you are forced to choose between portion size and flavor, but that's not the case here. You might give the prices a second glance, but having seen my entree and what the folks around me were eating, this is one spot where you actually get what you pay for. I find myself eating one of three things at most Greek spots: Souvlaki, Moussaka, or a Gyro. On this occasion, I went with the Chicken Souvlaki. I can't say why, it just sounded good. I guess my gut knew what it was doing, as the chicken was moist, well-seasoned, and ready to mingle with the other flavors on the plate. Some things reminded me of my trip to Greece: the pita was well-seasoned and fluffy, the tzatziki was tangy and rich, and the Greek salad was absolutely drowning in Feta. I don't remember eating a lot of rice or potatoes while I was in Greece, but that didn't stop them being tasty while I was in Kamloops. Dorian Greek House is a good place to dine in Kamloops. The outdoor seating area was perfect as well as service despite the huge crowd that showed up Saturday night. This place could have easily been a 4-5 star, but there were a few things that could have easily done to better my dining experience. First, my Greek salad was featured with no olive oil nor balsamic vinegar, it was just dry and no flavour. Also, my kalamari was coated to heavy with flour and cooked in old oil. Spinakopita, rice, potato and prawns were spot on and delicious. Maybe it was an off night because of the huge crowd? I will give them another shot sometime soon. read more

I think I had as great an experience as I could have at this restaurant. Being originally from Melbourne, Australia, which has amazing Greek food I think I had too high expectations of Dorian's and the food in general didn't meet what I'm used to from Greek cuisine. That aside the service was great, and we sat on the balcony, which was a really nice setting. I think this is amazingly well priced for how much food you get. Coming from out of town, we wandered around downtown Kamloops looking for places to eat. The reviews for this place seem well founded, but I made a critical error. I took the 'italian' food part of their sign literally. Rule #1 don't go to a Greek restaurant and expect good Italian food. I ordered basically like spaghetti with meat sauce. What I got was a mushy bowl of noodles COVERED with cheese - like a lasagana. It was gross. I scraped off the cheese, and tried to eat the pasta underneath. It tasted like some very weird spice, which I have no idea what it is, but it tasted like dish soap. I saw alot of people eating Souvlaki, which is what I should have ordered. I don't want to totally condemn the place based on one experience, but if you go here - DO NOTORDER THE ITALIAN FOOD. The atmophere, service etc was all good. read more

If you have, or have been thinking of eating at Dorians Greek Restaurant, please think again!! I was a long time customer to this restaurant, friends with the owners Jim and Diane, and have been eating here for years. On my family's last trip into the restaurant I went into the kitchen to thank Jim for the delicious meal and caught him smoking only feet from open bins of meat and other food on the chef's line. Instead of butting it out, or looking embarrassed, he tossed the pack at me and offered up a stool and a chat. I have been a smoker most of my life, but this was crossing a line!!! read more
