I moved into a house where Doors Unlimited installed two storm doors that were still under the one year warranty. One of the doors wasn't shutting properly apparently because of humidity in the air that was causing the doorframe to swell. The original complaint about the door was noticed in June, *before* all the rain in August and before Hurricane Irene.
Despite letting six months go by to "let the humidity" get out and the doorframe to unswell, Doors Unlimited still insists that it's 1) the humidity, or 2) the doorframe that is the issue, and not the door, which is all they're responsible for. If they're experts, why don't they account for these factors when originally installing? And as the person (Mike) I spoke to on the phone admitted himself, other customers in the region who reported issues with humidity and doors not closing are no longer having those issues. So again, humidity? After six months, really? I think they were just running the clock on the warranty.
Bottom line, the door is under warranty and Doors Unlimited wants to charge me $125 to fix it. All my conversations were unfortunately with Mike, who was argumentative, refused to let me speak with anyone else in the company, and in the end just hung up on me.
So yeah, they're good and fast, but you better pray that they get it right the first time and nothing else happens with your door/windows. I found out too late after the fact that they also have 3 complaints on the Better Business Bureau's website. read more
