This place sucks. They once received a C grade from the health taliban but they must've washed their coffee pot or something because it's up to an A now. I'm glad someone uploaded a pic of their "small" coffee. It really is more like a shot of espresso to go or a kid's cup. It's ridiculous & definitely not worth what they charge. The coffee tastes terrible too. It's like they make one pot & the regulars know not to get it so it's left for the poor souls who assume a coffee shop should know how to make good coffee. Nope. Not here anyway. They make two things, coffee & donuts & they can't even get it right. I guess they stay afloat from pushing lotto tickets on their senile clientele. Their donuts are pretty lackluster as well. They come in three flavors: stale, greasy, or "meh." I guess if you have false teeth anything that crumbles tastes like a donut. I wish the Winchell's on University was in this location. They make real coffee in a real size, 8 oz. = a small not 5, and their donuts are always fresh, not heavy & not greasy. Go to Winchell's instead if you have the option. I've gone here out of convenience (and perhaps masochism) about 5 times in the last 5 years and every time I wonder, "Why do I come back?" Worst hygeine ever! I was picking up two dozen donuts to take to an event. During the selection the older asian lady who claimed she was the owner sneezed once on the donuts. I thought well accidents can happen. But when she proceeded to sneeze a second time on my donuts, I asked if she could switch them out. About 6 donuts at this time. She refused. Then denied that she sneezed on the donuts. I was so disgusted that I just left the donuts. As I was leaving, I'm watching her returning these nasty donuts back on the display!!!! So someone else will buy them. Gross. I went for bagels instead. This was very upsetting. I don't think I'll ever come back here. I'm sorry. I live in the neighborhood but this was too disgusting. i only come here for one donut. the plain CRUELLER donut. o m g . it's so moist. and with the right amount of glaze --- it's just sooo perfect! the rest of the donuts are pretty average, but this one is the one to get. yaaaay. 5 stars for crueller. read more

They never have any donuts! Or maybe they're all sold out by 9am but literally every time I've ever been to this place there are 3 donuts and a lot of muffins in the case. Maybe a lot of people are going here for coffee and lotto tickets, but I don't know how you can be open all day and have so few donuts left at noon. read more

This is one area where I (the East Coast Representative in the West) can really shine. The donut franchise battle of the East Coast is of epic proportions. Dunkin Donuts sets the bar and all the Mom and Pop shops have to really stick out to stay in business, and I've sampled them all. That being said this place is just so-so. The donut's I've had are average, and the stuffed croissant was not that great. I don't have much choice in the area so I'll still frequent this place but I'd still rather have a Dunkin or a Tim Hortons move in! read more

Best donut shop hands down. I used to go to Donut Tyme all the time when I went to school in Riverside, CA. Plus, my bf used to live right across from the place. The donuts are extremely fresh and soft. The coffee, i must say, is always fresh. I am very picky about how my coffee tastes. Maybe because I have hypersensitivity to flavors/tastes of food, I can really know when coffee is not fresh or old. Donut Tyme always has fresh coffee and fresh milk, I'd also like to say refrigerated! You wouldn't believe how many donut places I've been to and these donut shops don't refrigerate their milk/cream! Lastly, the price! It's super cheap and affordable. Great quality, great taste, and nice people. I miss donut tyme! I think about the place from "tyme to tyme" Can't find a donut place as good as donut tyme in los angeles, ca. I don't like big companies like Winchell's (once got a molded donut from a batch of dozen glazed donuts), Yum Yum, and others. :/ read more

Cash only business. Best donuts in town. In the evening the donuts will be almost gone because they make them fresh every day. In five years I've never had a bad doughnut. Big hang-out for retirees and seniors playing scratchers. They do big lotto business. It's nice to see a place where seniors are welcome to hang out for hours. I've heard some funny conversations between 80 somethings about the decline of civilization...that'll be me in 40 years. It reminds me of a geriatric Cheers (and a little like Rosies from MASH) just replace the beer with coffee and sugar topped fried dough. read more

I've been stopping by a bit more frequently recently (once a week or so). The donuts are still very tasty, and I haven't had any more problems with low supply. I found out about this place through my husband. He was in the area to stop by his client's business and asked if I wanted a doughnut. Of course I didn't decline the offer! I walked in and noticed that it was kind of hectic inside because little kids were crying and running around--happens to be the owner's kids. Obviously this is a family-run business. They had quite a few choices and thankfully all of their doughnuts looked fresh. (I went in the middle of the afternoon to satisfy my sweet tooth.) I ordered an Apple Fritter and a cup of coffee. $1.45 for a decent-sized Apple Fritter was not bad at all. I fell in love after the first bite. It was fresh and yummy! It was too much sugar for me to have all by myself so I split it with my husband. He liked it as well. As for the coffee... Well... It's served in a tiny Styrofoam cup (more like a kiddy size) and filled only half way. I didn't care too much for the coffee. I sat outside because I couldn't stand the family members yelling at their fussy kids, and the weather was beautiful so I decided to take advantage of it. I noticed that a lot of regulars patronized this store. As I was looking in through the window, one kid was actually lying down/dozing off on one of the half-booths WITH customers all around like it was the most natural thing to do! And one customer sitting two tables behind me outside was very obnoxious. He was yelling "F this, F that!" for about half an hour. He was so upset that Germany had taken the World Cup title. (Obviously, he wasn't rooting for Germany!) Later on, my husband's client came over to me and told me that the entire family (kids including) come to this doughnut store and practically LIVE there. He said the kids eat AND SLEEP in the store all morning and most of the day. WTH?! As long as the customers don't feel bothered by these little rascals, then more power to them. The second time I stopped by, there were no kids to be seen. ~Sigh of relief~ I got there a little after 6:30PM hoping that they would still be open. I checked their hours on the window and saw that they were open from 4:30~10:30! And I'm pretty sure it's 4:30AM~10:30PM! Such looooong crazy-ass hours! Ok, so I got another Apple Fritter (good as ever) and started munching away. Thankfully, their doughnuts are on par. As for the kids, someone should stay home and watch them AT HOME and not at their business! You really don't need 5 adults running a doughnut store! By the way, they are a cash-only store! I got a hot chocolate from here and wanted a receipt. I asked for it and the old lady cashier threw me some attitude, telling me I should have asked for it earlier. Who asks for the receipt before they order? Also the hot chocolate was gross. It was good until the bottom, where it was SALTY. Yuck. read more
