Hi Neighbors I need to share my experience w. the worst business I have ever dealt w. And I mean in every aspect they conduct business! Towing, storage, auto repair shop I had 1 nightmare after another...Don's Towing in Brewster,NY !! If ur in an accident & the PD call's Don's Towing, tell them u prefer to push the car home, call me I will do it !! I don't know if I start w. Don himself or Nadine the secretary!! But both r scammers !! We were in our 1st car accident ! PD called Don's towing on a Sat 2pm! Don comes tells us where the cars going! No questions asked, here's his card! I ask "wait can u bring it home 1st I have groceries in the back?"He says "No I don't think so" I said "But how am I to get my things out of the car?" He says "WE have to find a ride to his towing yard, & unload there!" So we do, while there we explained to him how the accident happened, we only have liability insurance on a 10 year old car & how we Thought we weren't at fault! (we were crashed into while taking a left hand turn! Don says "YES that's definitely not ur fault ! The other cars liable for the accident, they hit you & we have adjusters here at the tow yard everyday so ur going to be taken care of immediately by the insurance company!! (All lies) Well that's a relief to hear a company that deals w. These situations everyday say "we will be taken care bc adjusters are at their yard EVERYDAY! Thank u, oh kind lying buns Don! Adjusters don't just sit in tow yards all day! But idk that! An adjuster gets called to a tow yard! How foolish am I !! Monday comes Nadine has a paper for us to sign $100.00 a day + towing fee! I ask her "when is the adjuster going to take a look at our car!" Her answer "as soon as u have the police report, but don't worry about this $100.00 a day storage fee +towing charge, bc the other cars insurance is going to pay for this bill !!" My response "I heard when in a car accident ur suppose to mitigate the damages& expenses" her: "that's only if u were at fault & u have to pay, meaning ur insurance companies responsible!" Nadine & I went back and forth w. Her saying don't worry about it & I am saying but I heard ur suppose to mitigate ur charges!! Over & Over for 10 mins !! So I ask" what if they don't accept responsibility?, Then that'll be our bill to pay!" Nadine's response "don't worry about it Don will take care of you", u wouldn't have to pay that, he'll look Out for u!" Biggest LIE , nope bc everything they both said were BIG lies! We leave, after hearing don't worry Don will take care of u!! Day after Day waiting for the police report !Carmel Police says it may take up 2 weeks. The car sits at Don's until the day I need our plates for the new car !! We get told we cannot get the plates bc the adjuster hasn't come out yet! Well wait , you said they r here every day. Why hasn't it happened yet? Nadine says bc you guys haven't gotten the police report yet, my response "how can we get a police report if it's not ready !! Nadine: you have to make a claim against the other car, u need the report so u know what insurance company to make the claim against! So stupidly we leave Friday no adjuster, can't call their insurance company bc the PD didn't give us that info , when we went to exchange information I had a picture of everything except the insurance card I remember the PO got pulled away by a 2nd officer w. The card in his hand & I took the pic of some info w/o the insurance card !! Monday we call our insurance company explain everything that's going on. And how we need the plates for the new car !! He tells us the way to get our plates we have to pay Don $ 3,000 towing & storage bill & get reimbursed by the other insurance company Never did we make a claim bc our insurance agent says the police report that we waited 2 weeks for, had 1 sentence "Car 1 hit car 2 !! Which wasn't in favor of anyone !! And after explaining how the accident happened he believes it was our fault !! & yes we had to pay $3,000 for a crashed non-moving 2011 Subaru when originally I asked if he can bring my car/groceries home! I have more than enough space for 5 cars in our driveway lot! To add icing on the cake Day 3 that Monday Hubby was driving our Hyundai to Don's & that car died on a terrible road (no shoulder) that was towed to the Don's AUTOBODY shop & junkyard ! Our car had a flat on Interstate 84 in Brewster, NY. We called AAA and this very pleasant man named Kevin came to our rescue!!! He couldn't have been more accommodating. Mike is extremely rude and difficult to deal with. Mike, the owner, took over from Don a few years ago, which I am glad for. Don was great while he served our family for decades, but near the end it was obvious he was ready for retirement. Mike is running this place like a tight ship. He is honest, reasonable, and efficient. He takes the time to explain issues and listens to the customer. My daughters car broke down Sunday, December 18th 2022. All of her antifreeze leaked out of her car. I called AAA for a tow and they sent Mark E. from Don's. Mark was rude and asked me what was wrong with the car. I told him and then he started the car and drove it onto the flatbed. I was extremely upset because there was no antifreeze in the car. He gave me a smug condescending smile and said that I obviously don't know how cars work. I'm also sure that he drove it off the flatbed also but I wasn't there. We are mo longer allowed to get a ride home from the tow truck driver.I will file a formal complaint with AAA tomorrow morning but recommend that you don't have your car towed by Don's. The ownership of the business changed recently and it's incredibly telling. There is no care for the customer and their needs. My car wouldn't start and I had absolutely no clue why. I called AAA they told me it would be anywhere from 45 to 90 minutes before a driver arrived. Not even 15 minutes after I hung up with them the driver, [AJ] arrived. He was very professional, extremely knowledgeable, and even tried to figure out why my car wouldn't start. Unfortunately it was my alternator so the car had to be towed. I have had cars towed before, I have never had a driver tow my car like it was his own. My kids started getting fussy waiting for our ride, he showed them the lights on the tow truck and let them see the inside of the tow truck. He went ABOVE AND BEYOND his job description for me. I would and have recommended Dons Automotive to family, friends, and strangers. If I ever need a tow or any kind of roadside in the future, I wouldn't have anybody but AJ, from Don's assist me. I can't say enough good things about him and this company. Side note - Don't forget to tip your tow truck drivers, they work hard and go above and beyond what's required of them.
