Took my car to get a TPMS sensor installed and specifically told the service advisor NOT TO PROGRAM IT because it was already done. They did NOT do as they were told and said it was not reading and had to program it? Funny because it's on the cars display as rearing 0 PSI because it was in the cup holder. This proves it was talking to the car. Regardless, they uncharged me and rather than argue with them I payed the bill and will NEVER come back. Not concerned with customer or employee safety as the technician who drove my car out was not wearing a mask. Also, they charged for numerous things including a brake light check which was still out upon leaving and still had no problem charging for it, hoping I didn't notice. Managements first response was to say they "may" have missed something and claim a mistake. No apology, just excuses. Very poor experience all around. Its a shame that they are trying to con people out of money or speed through daily procedure because of laziness. read more

It was 2pm on a Monday, when an otherwise glorious afternoon was interrupted by a call to our JP Urban Moving office in Prospect Heights, Brooklyn. Our veteran driver reported that, 60 miles away in Mahopac, NY, our truck had broken down en route to a storage facility with a load from Manhattan. A potentially expensive nightmare with far-reaching repercussions, right? Wrong! As Providence would have it, the truck was less than a mile from C & A Auto Service where we were able to bring it. And within two hours we were back on the road, the truck having been repaired at a very reasonable price. Jerry and his staff were professional, relaxed and friendly. How do these low life thieves rate 4 stars? I would give negative stars if I could . I went to c&a to have the timing belt done on my 2004 Honda Civic ,this included the tensioner and the water pump . I was charged over $600 for this service , only to find later that was not the case . After I had the service ( 35000 miles later )the civic would not start , I took the timing belt covers off and found the tensioner spring broke off , but the broken spring was not behind the cover . I realized then they never did the tensioner or the water pump . The loose belt had damaged the crank shaft position sensor . The only part they changed was the belt . So I had to replace the sensor and the rest of the parts that c&a was suppose to do. What a bunch of scum balls these guys are. Even though I live in Brooklyn I have been bringing my Honda Element to C&A for a number of years. Ever since they expanded I felt the service had declined. Now I have learned they have been ripping me off. In 2016 I paid C&A to replace my rear brake pads and rotors. This Saturday my brake pedal went to the floor when I braked. The mechanic who I brought my car to told me I needed new rear brakes because only half of the brake pads (see the picture) had actually been replaced by C&A in 2016. I took a BMW there I was thinking about buying for an inspection. Everyone should do this regardless of year, model, or make and for me this was especially important since it was going to be for my extensive travels. I arrived and was strangely comforted by the "rustic" look of the garage that had 5 or 6 mechanics working. When speaking to the office person there, he gave me a good overall idea of time needed for the inspection and provided me with a few places I could walk to and wait if I so chose. Every level of their service was amazing, concise and trustworthy. They even provided me with an estimate of needed repairs. If I had bought the car, I would have certainly taken it there for repairs because the price was far less than Manhattan mechanics. Thankfully they saved me from near disaster (BMW should do something about their ball joints and bushings...)! Almost forgot, they had one of the mechanics test drive it for me as well. Not only is Glenn (the owner) rude but this place is a total ripoff. Go elsewhere! If he has the chance he will screw you. Beware. Lots of other places in the area that are fairer and nicer. I called to call him out on the charges he gave to my son and he proceeded to tell me how much he pays in taxes. Very unprofessional. Update: 6/5/16 The owner Jerry and I spoke about my issues on Wed. 6/1/16. He wished I would have come to him prior to writing this review so he could right the situation. As I explained the issues he stated these things happen but will address them. The issue with the airbag light was probably because the obd2 diagnostic tool wasn't able to read the fault codes due to aftermarket radio. Which they should know about, I have to disconnect it for inspection sticker (they DID my inspections) and I wouldn't have to come back to clear fault code if they knew to disconnect it. The marked up part is because of thier nationwide warranty. The mark up is to cover possible tow, new parts and labor at no cost to the customer. I'll just go continue using AAA. He said he went to pick it up himself so it would be done. Thank you for the speedy turn around. I told him that I cleaned the dash panels and other areas marred with grease. He said you should always get your car back better than it came in. I showed him that the torx fasteners were not installed by pulling off the panels. He said he would replace them. He replaced them but not with torx fasteners. I knew this would happen. I stated to the woman at front desk that the torx screws need to be replaced. I know they do they do the same thing, but it's not what was there. I will just have to buy them myself. Also the guy at front desk negged me. He said "we replaced all the fasteners but the mechanic said ONE was already missing." ...ORLY? At that point, I was done. I bit my tongue but said to myself, If he remembered how many screws there was, why didn't he reinstall the originals? I wouldn't have to come back if you didn't fuck up. He asked for me to check everything and come back in and let him know how things are, don't just leave. I checked and went back in and shaked his hand because I was done. I wash my hands of this and I won't be using their services any time soon. 5/29/16 So if you like a fast turn around but don't mind paying over dealer prices for parts, getting your car interior back with greasy hand prints all over, parts missing and other things wrong when they say all fixed, then great, this is the place to go! OK, so I just picked up my car from C&A on 5/28/16 Memorial day weekend, I towed it in on the Wed. before, it was "ready" on Fri. they changed the ignition cylinder housing due to a no start issue. The turn around was only three days because they had to get the part from VW dealer. The car starts now, great! And that's where the good stuff ends. The actual bill was 600.56. I was charged $233.99 for the ignition cylinder housing. A simple call to the parts dept. of Mohegan lake motors (VW dealer), I was quoted $175.49 that same part. That's a 33% Price hike! Every part of the interior they touched is marred with greasy hand prints now, including the fabric seats. Which transfered to my shorts and shirt. Not only did they not care about keeping my car clean, but all the screws that attach the dash panels were not reinstalled. They just popped them in place and said fuck it. Also the airbag light is on now. So I have to go back again.... so much for paying attention to details. I guess the mechanic was thinking more about the long holiday weekend. Just because the man at front desk with glasses says with a smirk and a shrug of the shoulders "Its still drivable" does not make it OK. A heads up notice like we fixed the start issue but another issue has come up that we can address after the holiday would have been nice. If it was actually missed, then that's mechanic incompetence. Either way, that's bad customer service. I was towed in using the tow hook in the front bumper, I thought they would take care of that too, but didn't. I expected it to be removed and had the fog light and cover reinstalled, that's what the dealer or a better shop would have done. Prior to today's service I had the emergency brake cables and all rear brake components replaced. Again they work as supposed to now. But again short cuts were made ruining the center console cover. I'm not Sorry Jerry (owner) it's the truth. I would give you 0 stars if it would let me. -1* for price gouging of parts. -1* for hand prints, -1* for missing parts, -1* giving me back my car with other issues stating everything is fixed, -1* for your front desk persons condescending smirk and comment. I would dock you another star if it was available for center console, but that doesn't pertain to this service visit. read more

I brought my car in for a brake job. As I was driving home, my brakes started smoking. When we talked with C&A, right after servicing my brakes, they refused to take responsibility. After paying $400 for a brake service, I wound up having to pay another $200 to fix their mistakes. Serious lack of quality control. Learn from my mistake. Don't be penny-wise and pound-foolish. Had the pleasure of having my car serviced at C&A. I was impressed how thorough they were in their diagnosis of the problem and was equally impressed with the how quickly they were able to repair the issue and at a very reasonable price. A check engine light that had been on since I got the car used a year ago [told by Audi it would cost over $1100 to repair] is off.... for a fraction of that!! The absolute worst. Will never be going there as long as I live. We went in for an ignition check and they never did it, never even looked at it which they admitted to. Instead charged us $2000 for a car that is falling apart. They told us we needed all these parts for an inspection, they did the work, and then failed the inspection- which unfortunately led to several tickets in the matter of hours. They refused to give us a loaner when we asked for it and instead gave us a unsafe car back that was in worse shape than before we saw them (came back with bad steering, bad brakes, etc.) I have several family members who used to be mechanics and every single one of them said we were overcharged and they used products they should not have been using (that we asked them not to use also). If you love your car but also want fair service- this isn't it. Unfortunately, we just moved to the area so it was a lesson learned who not to trust. People like this give the area a bad name. Agreed with the other bad reviews below- just because it is "drivable" doesn't mean it's okay. And definitely not down with the condescending tone used when he spoke with us, maybe it's because we are women or maybe they do it to everybody. read more
