Donnelly's is one of the top rated plumbing and HVAC specialists in the area. It's a shame to see the volume of poor reviews for this outstanding company. Most of them are just upset to have to be dealing with household management. I understand, but it's not fair. They replaced our water inlet valves for our washing machine - 10/10 service. It was pricey, but you get what you pay for. They didn't charge us for new hoses. The new valves are fantastic. Huge improvement. We also had them upgrade our entire HVAC. They gave us a VERY competitive price. Knocked an entire grand off for booking the same week. Minor issue after install and they called in someone who had technically just ended their shift. Above and beyond. We joined their protection plan for priority scheduling plus a free AC and furnace inspection annually. Holding off on the free plumbing inspection to do our own due diligence first. You only see Donnelly's trucks around my area for a reason. Outstanding quality. My advice would be to seek more estimates for smaller jobs, but do not hesitate for big/important projects. Clean, respectful, down to earth. Highly recommend! read more

I was a plumber for a long time so I know a little about this stuff, if you look up the part that went bad (capacitor on the a/c compressor) you would see that it is less than a hundred dollars (depending on where you buy it) the bill was $578.00! I was robbed. I hope these people don't rely on return business because I will look elsewhere for help next time. Oh, and as far as prompt service is concerned, they are probably sitting around waiting for the next sucker to call, sorry to sound mean, and of course the tech was nice just like a car salesman they try to sell you the contract you can never get out of, never again will I call Donnelly's. read more

January 3, 2026 Sunk Cost Fallacy: The phenomenon whereby a person is reluctant to abandon a strategy or course of action because they have invested heavily in it, even when it is clear that abandonment would be more beneficial. Initial outlay for a gas valve was $699.75. 2nd repair, a week later for an igniter was $512.70. Third repair for a board and another igniter. The furnace still isn't working and it's been 4 weeks with NO HEAT in the house. We're delayed on all repairs and contractors have to be rescheduled. Horrible communication. No proactive outreach from Donnelly's. "100% Customer Satisfaction. Guaranteed" is only a marketing ploy and absolutely untrue. The techs are awesome, but the company itself is awful. read more

My mom called Donnelly for a leaking toilet. The plumber was nice and professional. The process was easy and the plumber did fix the problem. However, they completely over charged for something that should have cost so much less. The cost was over $800 to fix the insides and the short flex hose in the back. I just had the same problem and my plumber charged me $250 where Donnelley charged my mom over $800! I respect plumbers and feel that everyone deserves to be paid. But this is ridiculous! Now my mom knows to call my plumber and we have been telling everyone about this experience. Easy to schedule, technician arrived on time and was pleasant. Unfortunately the prices were absolutely absurd. In retrospect, I should have sent the plumber home and got another estimate. It was over $700 to replace a single outdoor frost-free spigot. Another $600 to install an expansion tank on the hvac system. The technician was at the home for maybe 2 hours tops. And I'm sure he's not getting paid that high hourly rate. I appreciate the expertise of those that work in the trades, but I hate the feeling of being ripped off. read more

The services I have received from Donnelly's have been quite good, so no real complaints there (thank you Domingo, HVAC). However, I cannot understand how I received an estimate for $1083. to install a new standard toilet that would cost about 200. to purchase at retail. My husband (who is NOT a plumber) can install a toilet in about 1-2 hours, but I am trying to save him the hassle. However, 800.00+ labor for a job that takes 1-2 hours max (probably less) is above my pay grade. Thank you for being responsive, but these "ALL-IN" prices do not work for me. Matt the tech arrived on time. He was here to inspect the air conditioning unit and reviewed with me everything he found. He was very knowledgable and did a great job explaining what was wrong and what needed to be fixed. He found out my current system was 32 years old and it truly needed to be replaced. He contacted the project manager Wade who arrived very quickly and he also was very knowledgeable. I enjoyed hearing about the system which will be installed and the cost savings I would receive. They were both very professional and I am truly thankful that I use the $20.00 monthly fee that enables me to get this excellent service. Wade arranged for the system to be installed this coming Monday (today is Thursday) which is very quick. Could have been done this Saturday but I would not be available that day. I'm surprised by the large number of poor reviews here. I found them a little expensive but they were fast and came when they were needed. I work from home so it was not a good thing to look up and see water beading on the ceiling over my head. Definitely an "oh Sh**!" moment. I called the plumber I've used for years and he was out of town. I asked who he could recommend and he said Donnellys. I think I called them at about noon and someone was there less than 2 hours later. We talked discussed options and then he cut a small hole in the ceiling and drained out over a gallon of water from a leaking in a bath tub pip over head. If he hadn't been there as quickly as he was I have no doubts there would have bene a collapse of the ceiling. When all was said and done was it expensive? Well it seemed more than I was expecting but it was an emergency and they came fast. I really didn't have time for estimates. the workman was clean, tidy, polite knew what he was about and after being shown the lay out got to work without having to be watched over. So why only 4 stars? they're plumbers. they don't do plastering so ultimately Iwas left with a grapefruit sized hole in my dining room ceiling were he had to cut away stuff to get to the trouble and while that's well and ok, seriously water beading on the ceiling, NOT GOOD, they don't replaster themselves andm ore importantly don't recommend someone who could help. They fixed the problem and came quickly but it would have been nice if they could recommend someone for the repairs to the plaster after they had to cut through the plaster. read more

Being a Realtor in PA. I would never refer this company. My seller just paid a lot of $ to get a new sewer line in. They decided to sell their home in the same year. When asked if the warranty was transferred, I was told no. However, for $400 they will certify the sewer line So buyer will have peace of mine! SERIOUSLY! What a ripoff! If their work is good quality, they should give the new home owner a warranty. Find a company who will transfer the warranty for at least 5 years to the new owner. Joe conferred with my contractor and the jobe was completed in short time. This was not an easy job sinc ehe had to work in a shallow crawl space under my house. I got an estimate to replace two toilets. Cost of toilets if I bought them at Home Depot: $400 each. Donnelly's estimate to supply replace toilets: $3,800.00. I asked the tech for a "real price" and not something that was total garbage, and he walked out to his truck and claimed he was "calling the manager" to see if he could do better. After "speaking with the manager", he came back with a price of $2900.00, "but you have to act now, because this price won't be good tomorrow". ....... Two toilets: $800....I asked the tech why this estimate was so high, and he tells me I'm paying for gas and maintenance to fix the truck and all of the "overhead" that comes with getting the tech out to the house. So $2100.00? More than twice the price of the toilets! Yeah, go pound sand. What a bunch of scammers. Stay away from these people. Customer for many years, paid for maintenance service, and had equipment failure. Donnelly's wanted to charge $450 to replace a condensation line that is nothing more than vinyl tubing that connects to a pump and goes to a drain. I installed it myself for $25 and now Donnelly says it has voided my warranty. Donnelly's wants their customers to pay their high maintenance fees with little regard for their customers. I would give one star and hate to do this because the technicians are terrific. They are always professional and courteous. The company itself is looking to cash grab customers through unreasonably high prices. read more

Lansdale, PA. Appointment scheduling was great however I feel I was robbed. $538 to replace a motor condensor. This is the easiest repair that can be done on an air conditioning system. They charge a $59 diagnostic fee which was on top of the $479 to replace a $30 part in 15 minutes. I am to to central AC and It is totally my fault for not doing my research. If I did I would have paid the diagnostic fee and found someone else to replace the condensor. This service should not have cost more than $250. They sound great and trustworthy but they WILL take advantage of you. read more

From the receptionist to the technician, I had a great experience. Donnelly's was offering a $59 service fee which beat all the other companies I contacted. I was able to have someone come out three days after I called which was nice. Evan was my technician and he was great. Evan worked quickly and was able to explain to me exactly what the issues were with my heating system. I would definitely use Donnelly's again! Do not let them in your home. Service came out for yearly inspection/maintenance. Did not change filters but told us everything was great. The next day burner started leaking. We called them to come back and they quoted 1800.00 to fix it and 1300.00 to bleed the system. They literally broke it and then tried to charge us over 3000.00 to fix it. When I questioned the representative he stated that he may be willing to give a discount but they are a business and need to make money. Seems like a great way to make money... pretend to inspect, don't change filters, break the system and then demand money to fix it. We had it fixed by someone else. Parts were 45.00, service call was 350 with other contractor who was an honest business person and told us it was messed with and made to leak. read more

I have tried for weeks to get a response from Donley Plumbing. Two weeks a tech came to our new house to help move a water softener from our old house. Oh by the way we have spend thousands on a/c and other needs over the last twenty years...so we are not a new customers. When I got the quote I called and email back to the tech and Donnelly to break it out...nothing. Called twice more and finally the tech called and and said he did not get the email...not really my fault. He asked the questions and I said I did not have time and to get it from the email and he said he would do it that day. Now four days later nothing. Do not, for any reason, hire this company to do any work in your home. After installing a new ($1700) motor in our blower that handles only our cooling it broke after just 2 summers. We had Donnelly's come out to diagnose the issue and they wanted to charge $2100 to replace it with a new motor. They did not initially offer any kind of compromise on the price. After 2 days they came back with a "generous" offer of an additional 6% discount. How generous. They did not at any point attempt to reach out to the manufacturer (Lennox) to enquire about a warranty for the part. Naturally, I sought a second opinion. The second company came out to look at the motor and wouldn't you know it, they actually called Lennox and it turns out the motor IS under warranty and my final cost would be roughly $300. What kind of company, upon noticing a part that is less than 3 years old, should normally last for 10, does NOT call the manufacturer to see if a warranty is available and instead charges a completely absurd amount? I am so, so, glad I did called around for a second opinion because my bill literally went from $2000 to $300 because I hired a company that isn't corrupt, greedy, and incompetent to do the job for me. Do not make the same mistake I did, believe me. Donnelly's is honestly the absolute worst company I have ever hired to do work in my home. Within FIRST month of operating brand new heating system, there have been THREE separate issues causing the heat to not work. I'm slightly embarrassed to write this as I have used Donnelly's for multiple jobs in my home. It started a few years back when the main drain line was clogged. A tech came out and gave me a price of $400...they had to remove our downstairs toilet and snake it that way. I knew the price was high but I was unsure of who to contact and with contractors it can be a crap shoot. I should also add that to get the price down I had to join a Gold Club and pay $12 a month for one year. The price without the Gold Club discount was much higher. Over the next few weeks, the line clogged twice again. Each time the same tech came out and cleared it...no extra charge. Our house is 30 years old, sits on a septic system and at one point there was apparently a water softener on the system because it was well water. That was long gone when we moved in but it appeared that something from the system or well water had built up, thus causing the clogs. I didn't blame these two other clogs on Donnelly's as I saw what was coming out of the pipe. And in each case (from the first to the third visit), they came out within hours. Because of this service and the fact that the tech was extremely polite, I kept using them. Fast forward to over a year ago, I had to replace my water heater. I wanted an 80 gallon as I had before and Donnelly's was able to get it, they also got a Rheem for me that I was looking at. Again the tech was extremely polite and did very good work installing the heater. I knew I paid a bit more but I was seeing the quality in the work and the response to my calls (which was rapid). A few months back our main line clogged again. I called Donnelly's after 5:00pm on a weekday night. They informed me that they do not have a plumber on call but they would call me first thing in the morning. This was frustrating as we had a new born in the house and couldn't use water...in addition there are plenty of plumbers that are on call 24/7. The next morning I waited for them to open to get a call, waited longer, after they were open for over an hour I called. I was told the dispatcher would call me when he got out of his meeting. Another hour or so passed and I heard nothing so I called again. Apparently I was scheduled but no one called. My window was from something like 11:30am - 1:00pm that someone would be on site. This was a weekday so I had to stay home and wait. The thing with windows is it seems you wait and wait and every time someone shows up at the end. So here it is about 15 minutes to 1:00pm and I get a phone call from the tech. He's an hour away (depending on traffic). So I wait some more, by the time he arrived it was well past the window I was scheduled for and probably 20 - 30 minutes past the hour he promised. Whatever, I needed this fixed but I certainly could have worked the morning had I know this. Or called someone else out to repair it. Now comes the quote, to clear the same drain that I had cleared a few years prior the price was over $700 (to go through the toilet). Or he could try to go from the septic system for around the same price I paid last time. That was it, but by this point it was approaching 3:00pm so I didn't have a lot of option. He told me that he would try to clear from the septic tank but if he couldn't he wouldn't charge me. So I said go ahead. He was able to clear the drain and like the techs before he was very nice and professional. But the fact is that an inflation of that amount is completely out of line. The fact that they were so slow to respond this time and failed to keep me in the loop is why I will not use them. I call Donnelleys because my split compressor was making noise outside....the fan motor. The techs came I explained that I was getting heat and cooling but the fan motor sound on the compressor outside was making a worrisome noise. Techs said they had to evac and check the freon levels, thinking back I should have watched them do this. They charged me $2000 for that but the motor was still making noise, so I asked them, are they going to address the noise. The tech said that I said I was not getting heat( which I never said) so they evacuated and charged the freon. But if I wanted the noise addressed, I had to buy a motor approx $700 and pay for installation also. I said, this is what I called about, NOT LACK OF HEAT. They left without fixing the motor noise and I got rooked for $2000 and still have my original issue. read more

Called and got a real person, scheduled based on my needs. Got a text to let me know that the tech was on his way. Michael showed up on time, put on his shoe covers, and assessed the situation. He made recommendations and did not try and oversell me like the other company I had called for the same problem. He was very professional and talked me through the process. He repaired the pipe under my sink and installed a new wax ring under my toilet. All within 1.5 hours. He left the bathroom as he found it, nice and clean. They charge a fair price. I had another quote and just the wax ring alone was the same price that Donnelly did for both the sink pipe and the wax ring. I highly recommend them. Thanks, Mike! If you're like me and your heater breaks the Saturday before Christmas on one of the coldest days of the year, call Donnelley's but only if you're in a pinch. They've got a receptionist every day of the week. I'm not talking about an after hours/weekend emergency number. I'm talking about a dedicated person who is more than happy to schedule you ASAP or for a specific time, despite if it's an emergency or not. They even text you to confirm and remind you of appointments! Most other HVAC places tell you to call back during normal business hours (M-F) unless you're willing to pay the emergency fee (typically around $100). Then on Monday, you're stuck waiting in queue because everyone and their grandma are trying to call in. Their repairs are higher than other HVAC companies, but they're reliable. Or at least James W, the HVAC guy who came out to repair my furnace, is. He was honest and knowledgeable. He was able to explain the issue to me in a way I could understand. He pointed out the newer parts and explain to me how he diagnosed the issue when I asked. The last HVAC guy I had simply told me my furnace was old and he recommended I replace the whole thing or pay $700 to "maybe" fix the issue. They charged me approx $300 to replace a flame igniter sensor. This is pretty pricey considering google indicates the part costs somewhere between $50-$100. The remaining $200 is the "installation" fee (literally a few screws and a wire) and this doesn't even include the $85 diagnostic fee. I would've done it myself, but this same part has burned out twice in one year already and Donnelley's included a 1 year warranty on their work. tldr; extremely pricey, but reliable and generally good customer service... read more

Recently I moved into our new home and had to replace the HVAC system. I contacted Donnelly's® https://www.4donnellys.com and spoke to a rep letting him know I wanted a complete 16 Seer system to achieve PECO and AHRI rebate standards. Donnelly's came out and installed a new $6700 system. I went to apply for the rebates, and I was told the system didn't meet the standards. After a couple of weeks, I was finally able to get an answer from Donnelly's that my outdoor system was 16 Seer but not the furnace. So basically, I spent money on a system that I didn't ask for. I feel duped that a local company would be dishonest about a system they sold. It makes me wonder how many folks look in-depth at their system to know it takes an outdoor unit, coil, and furnace to have a proper 16 Seer system and get the rebate. I would not recommend Donnellys again, and please use my experience as a lesson. read more

I thought my attic heater was making a noise. I called them out. Turns out it was the attic fan not the heater. The guy turned the attic fan off. He charged me $237 for this. He couldn't even tell me afterwards what my heater looked like. Daylight robbery. Well, I complained. The manager reached out to me and discussed it. We had a constant, increasing drip from our bath tub faucet. We had someone come out and look at it, and confirm the work that needed to be done to fixit. We had the shower valve and some pipes replaced with copper. The next day, we had someone come to look at repair work to fix the hole from the Donnelly guy's work (which was minimal, no issue there). The second guy takes one look at the copper pipes we JUST had installed and says they're outdated, because nowadays people use PVC as it is rust-free and less expensive. Not only did Donnelly's go with the most expensive, outdated option, we were not even informed of any alternatives that would have been cheaper/longer lasting. This is sketchy at best, and we do not appreciate Donnelly's lack of openness and candor regarding our options. read more

When they came back to inspect the problem they had caused, they blamed it on me, made it worse, and now they won't call me back. The technician came out for a routine inspection of my 7 year old Carrier heat pump. I was offered information on an annual service plan with no pushy sales technique. I was told my capacitor is running below manufacturer's specification; replacement was recommended at a cost of $395. I declined and subsequently bought the Carrier brand replacement capacitor on the internet for $20. YouTube has a video on how to replace in under 10 minutes. I appreciate that businesses have overhead and must charge to cover expenses; however, in this case I was nearly ripped off. I called and was told someone would call me back for 5 days now. They finally stated that the parts they ordered were not in yet and they would call to see where they are and call me back. I called at 1:30 in the afternoon because i still had not heard from anyone, they said oh we sent you a text this morning. When they asked me what time I would like and appointment, I mentioned that I work until 3 and if we could do 4:00. He proceeded to yell at me saying that he would have to pay his guys time and a half. He was extremely rude the entire time.
