Contacted Michael via Yelp reviews and was pleasently suprised by the level of service provided. He is rated highly by users on Yelp . He was extremely busy during the Christmas season ( probably due to I am sure a large number of referals). I needed a toilet replacement and while it wasn't a emergency Michael worked with me to accomplish the replacement in an extremely reasonable time frame. As it turned out the job was more complicated than either of us knew but as a true professional he stuck with the job and saw it thru even though the issue was caused by other contractors. I would highly recommend Michael to anyone with one condition ---- he is so busy that you need to work with him and be patient to get the first class work he is delivers. I called Mike Miller from Miller Plumbing to repair my water heater which was installed by Schneider Plumbing. The relief valve was releasing water every time I used hot water. As it turns out the plumber that installed the water heater 3 years ago did it incorrectly and that caused the problem. First of all, the expansion tank was installed on the hot water pipe, not the cold water intake. Second, they soldered the pipes too close to the actual tank. Third, they forced the water and gas pipes to align with the ports on the tank. Mike determined that the bladder in the expansion tank had failed, probably due to being on the hot water output line. Mike had to remove the magnesium rod and input tube to remove the copper pipes. When reattaching the input and output lines, Mike had to insert angles to accommodate the misalignment of pipes and tank. Finally, he attached the new expansion tank and relief valve. He cleaned all of the solder joints and checked the water pressure to the house. Mike was professional and knew what he was doing. I would hire him again without reservation. After receiving a call from the water department about my $300 outstanding bill I knew it had to be from the toilet in our powder room. I had called a different local plumber from the yellow pages 2 weeks prior and never got a return call. So I tried again, this time via yelp and selected Miller Plumbing. They are local and had positive reviews. He was very responsive and fit me in that same day as he had another call in the neighborhood. He was on time, and diagnosed and solved the problem immediately and explained why, although the toilet is getting older, there was no need to replace it. Half-hesitant to write this review because Mike is incredible, good plumbers are hard to come by and I want to keep him for ourselves. But I am doing my part as a good citizen and letting the world know that he is honest, responsive, conscientious and extremely pleasant. He fixed a toilet leak in our bathroom the RIGHT way after accurately diagnosing the problem, even though the toilet wouldn't leak for him (Murphy's Law). Mike Miller is outstanding! He was recommended by a friend. We used him because the contractor through Home Warranty didn't fix the problem but made it worse. Mike was honest, professional and even recommend I buy a part to save money! In the end, he found more issues but fixed them all and came back to spend a full day replaced three shutoff valves whose packing nuts were leaking with levers using copper pipes, installed a flood stop shutoff valve, installed PRV and expansion tank, replaced valve at main and installed new kitchen sink faucet. Two weeks later the flood stop shutoff valve did its job since suddenly we had a slow leak under the hot weater heater. I called Mike who came out that day and replaced the tank that suddenly went. We needed help with our shower plumbing on a Saturday afternoon and could not find a plumber that was available. However, Mike answered his phone right away and was able to come over. He only works until 4pm on Saturdays but stayed at our house helping us until at least 5pm. The "not recommended" reviews there look similar to the recommended page, positive. I also hope Yelp puts this on the recommended list, so people can see more up to date reviews that are hidden. BTW....I still love you and need you and recommend you Yelp, just would like to see more fair business practices by you. For my review...... I'm afraid if I tell everyone how great Miller Plumbing is, he will get too busy and I will have to wait a long time to get him back. Mike Miller has so far, in our opinion, been professional, prompt when scheduled, there for you in an emergency, and his prices are competitive. In addition, this guy knows about electric and plumbing, so if you need to install or remove something involving water and electric (like my dishwasher), he knows how to shut off the water, disable the electric switch in the breaker box that goes to the appliance, AND he knows wiring as a result of so many years having to do both. Many of the Home Depot /Lowes delivery guys don't know how to do installations, so they try their best, and often people end up with leaks and problems. it is also a 3 hr job to take out and then install a new dishwasher. Home Depot quoted me $70 for installation, which sounded low. it was. Mike says the whole job for him would be $285 including new valve, for three hours work, which is competitive. Home Depot and Lowes tell you $70 for the install, then they arrive, and tell you that you don't have the right part needed to do the install, and that a plumber will have to come and cut a few pipes, and add a new cut off valve. This is so the hard/dangerous job is done for them. also, the delivery/install guys arrived at 8 a.m. And as they were leaving at 8:15, I heard one guy on the phone with the scheduler, complaining that he had twelve more deliveries, with a few of them being installs. So, it appears they do the "you don't have the right setup and parts" thing to lessen their schedule. Several people have reported this problem recently in our area. Apparently this is to buy them time, especially since three hours will eat up their time. So you end up paying a plumber, and then supposedly they come back another day to finish the $70 job. I have heard that often, they never even come back, and service doesn't return calls for help to finish job. We shall see....they are supposed to call tomorrow afternoon with the time to come back to install the next day after Mike has been here. I am probably stupid letting them come back to save $100, but this month, I have to do it. All the hassle with Home Depot and Lowes is not worth it. Better to call Mike to do the whole job well and at a competitive price for a plumber who knows electric. He is also nice, courteous, and a perfectionist and we have used him successfully 4 times for very different problems. Even my parents are thrilled with Miller Plumbing. Great...now I've said too much....never could keep a good thing to myself. UPDATE: 1 Month Later....changed my mind about letting Home Depot do the job. Decided Mike was the guy, he came, did the whole thing in 3 hrs with his assistant, cleaned up totally and took away old dishwasher all for the price quoted. I just didn't want to deal with plumbing problems down the line because I wanted to save a hundred bucks. All is running well now, thanks to Mike! read more
