These guys quoted me a price higher than their original estimate which I had agreed to. They quoted me $2800-3200 with it ending up over $3900. I hjad 2 other bids under $3,000 but they are really good salespeople telling them the Platinum PLumbing name was behind me and they do a great job??? Then after starting the job they told me the job was more work than they thought and have been holding me hostage by not finishing my job until I pay even more. They were there twice to look at my job to give me an estimate!! They left me with leaking and non working radiators and won't finish it, threatening to take me to court with the amount they now want to be even more, even though they still have not finished the work. Told me they didn't see the other cuts next to the very visible valves so they have to charge almost $2,000 more. If I don't pay they are suing me. I have pictures of them. My husband is an 83 year old Veteran who is ill and I am his soul caretaker so couldn't get over there for several days to check on them. I walked in to leaking and non working radiators with steam coming out. My floors are ruined under some of them and I have a hogh gas bill because steam had been coming out of them. They also did not get the required permit from the local borough to install a new hot water heater even though I brought it to their attention. the township inspector had to call them to make them get one. The hot water heater is working fine. I have written documentation on everything. I had sent them 2 emails about the situation months ago and never heard back until recently with the manger only wanting to talk to me on the phone?? Astronomical pricing! My ac unit needed a few control boards that tech said was covered under warranty; when he came back, a 2 hour job cost me $1200 !!!! Labor only! Parts were covered free! I wrote complaint to Attorney General's office! $200/hr i could see, but $600/hr??? They credited me $150 back after AG contacted them; how generous Its a shame to get taken advantage of! Around midnight last night I found my utility area to be all but flooded from my leaking hot water heater. I remembered seeing a Platinum truck in my neighborhood a few days ago and decided to give them a try since I didn't have a regular plumber. I really enjoyed the fact that an actual person answered and let me know a plumber would be calling me back soon, rather than going through an answering service. About 10 minutes later the phone rang and a very polite gentleman was able to calm me down and walk me through the steps to turn off the water to the hot water heater. He then offered to come right out - it was after midnight! I chose to have him send someone this morning instead, and he let me know someone from the office would call me by 8am to set up an appointment. As promised a woman from the office called me just before 8am this morning. I told her I would be home from 2pm on, which she said was not a problem and they'd call me when the plumber was on his way. Around 2:45 I got a phone call that a tech was on his way, and the best part is they informed me he even had a new unit on his truck since the hot water heater most likely needed to be replaced. Within 30 minutes he arrived and I really can't say enough good things about him! He made me feel so relaxed and didn't pressure me at all. He explained what he needed to do any why and answered all of my questions with great patience. After speaking with friends and neighbors I feel that the pricing for the work was very fair. I found out some people pay a lot more than I did for a similar installation, and mine came with a better warranty! About 2 hours from the time he walked in he was finished installing the new hot water heater. When he left I realized my utility closet somehow looks even cleaner than it did before! He did an amazing job on the installation and cleaned up so well it was like nothing ever happened. I was thrilled with my entire experience with this company and couldn't wait to write this review. I do find it strange that the only reviews shown on Yelp are outdated and awful. I'm glad I didn't have time to check here first because it might have discouraged me from calling on Platinum and I am so very glad that I did. I scrolled through the 12 "not recommended reviews" and find these are more in line with what I experienced when I hired Platinum. I don't usually review home service companies on Yelp, but I couldn't resist after I saw their current one-star rating. This company is THE BEST and I would highly recommend them to anyone for their plumbing needs! Sooooo.... we have used them twice now. This morning, wife woke up and NO RUNNING WATER. Of course I tried YouTube to fix it.... I'm not a plumber. We called Platinum Plumbing, the young lady I spoke to was AWESOME and sent a tech out ASAP. He diagnosed the problem quickly, and had a part sent over immediately. The process was so fast, I called out of work for 3-11 thinking it would be an all day event, and he was gone by 12pm. (Don't tell my boss). I agreed to the proposal with one request, could I put 1/3 down as outlined in PA state law instead of the 50% they proposed. They said no and said they no longer wanted to do the job. I called Platinum Plumbing and scheduled an appointment because my sink was clogged. I read on their website and saw free estimates so I was eager to find out what was going on with my sink. A pleasant receptionist answered the phone and scheduled me for a week later. Nothing was discussed about a fee. The plumber shows up at 945 and gets right to work . He says nothing about a price. I could here him working for a very short period of time and he says he doesn't have the peice to fix it and I could reschedule. He pulls out a receipt for $135. For what? I feel totally taken advantage of as a woman and a human being. I think the fee should have been disclosed on the phone or before he started the work. We called Platinum plumbing to repair a lose faucet in our bathroom. The repair was scheduled three days later. Their plumber arrived and told us that he did not have any washers on his truck and if he had to go back to his shop,less than a mile away, it would cost us anther $100. He ended up tightening the broken washers and charging us $100 for 15 minutes of work. The next morning the faucet was lose again. I have used Platinum Plumbing on many occasions: 1. They installed a second sink in my kids bathroom with new countertop...Fabulous work! 2. They ran the necessary piping to connect my pool heater to gas 3. When my basement flooded after the Hurricane and the owner promptly came out and replaced my existing sump pump which was not running efficiently. They came back a few days later and installed a water back up pump. They also made sure our hot water heater would start after being under water. I am 100% satisfied!!! I contacted Platinum through Home Advisor's website. Within 5 minutes of leaving my request for service, I got a call from Kevin. That was the first good thing. I was able to describe my needs over the phone and Kevin said he would schedule someone to come out and look at my issues (toilet replacement, toilet repair and garbage disposal repair.) Kevin gave me an estimate over the phone!!! While I knew things could be different once someone arrived at my home and saw the situation for themselves, I was so happy that Kevin could give me an idea of what the costs would be. Within an hour, Matt arrived at may home. Matt is thorough, professional, receptive to questions and feedback, and is very pleasant. He explained the repairs to me and offered alternatives. The long and short of it - the work was done the same day, the price was exactly what Kevin quoted, the work was done well, and I am completely satisfied (which is not an easy thing for me to say!) Last night we had an emergency. I walked into my kitchen and noticed that the sinks were filled up with disgusting, murky sewer water. I walked to my bathroom and there too, was a sink and toilet filled with sewer water. I immediately called Platinum Plumbing and explained (with much panic in my voice) what I was seeing. Andy was wonderful. He calmly asked me several questions to better understand the issue. He offered to either come out right then (it was about 9:00 at night) or we could wait until the morning as long as I did not use any more water. He did not pressure me to do one over the other and let me make the decision. I opted to have him come out that night. He was thorough in his investigation of the problem and was quickly able to identify the best solution. He cleaned the drain and had us back up and running that night! We had a pipe that was angled incorrectly that was causing an issue (along with so-called flushable wipes). Andy said that although he cleaned the drain, if we did not have the pipe angle corrected, we would run into the same issue in the future. He said that Kevin would be out first thing the next morning to fix it. Kevin arrived on time, was extremely nice, worked efficiently and cleaned up everything afterwards. Its as though we never had a problem and its only about 12 hours after it happened! Thank you Platinum Plumbing. This is THE plumbing service to call.
