SK came out and did a seasonal checkup on our AC. We're new to the home and area and found SK…read morethrough Yelp. They were on time, checked out the AC, added coolant and then took a quick peek at the furnace. They said both look good for the age (17 years) and should be good for a while. I had questions about rebates for heat pumps and he had answers about rebates, rough costs and advantages of the new heat pumps. He reiterated that we didn't need to change out our current equipment but if we feel it's important for environmental reasons there are good options. We'll definitely be using them going forward, and have a fall furnace checkup scheduled.

Last cooling season he…read moresaid the outside unit was near the end of its life, the unit was in the house when purchased. It''s a rental when it dies, we'll replace it. On the first cold day this winter he claims the heater is all rusted out in the exchanger and has to be replaced, along with the entire system because a new heater can't work with an old air conditioner. Our neighbor suggested we call their guy. He's been in business for 30 years. Needless to say, the heater was not rusted he showed me the unit was very dirty, the fan motor and wheel were clogged with dirt and there were two dead birds in the chimney. The outside air conditioner was only 10 years old. I'm convinced SK had never done anything other than collect their fee and try to sell stuff we didn't want or need.

TWO WORDS: STAY AWAY…read more I contacted IT Landis for service on our 20-month-old Lennox heat pump with an auxiliary propane furnace because they advertise themselves as a Premier Lennox Dealer. The system would not reach the thermostat setting of 69°F and was running 24/7 without heating the home. Visit #1: The technician suggested we run our ceiling fans in winter mode and that the outside temperature was very cold (NO FOOLING THAT'S ITS COLD OUT-IT'S CALLED WINTER). No diagnostics or meaningful troubleshooting were performed, and the problem was not resolved. Visit #2: Two days later the same technician returned. At 11:00 AM the thermostat was reading only 64°F despite being set to 69°F, yet he again stated there was nothing wrong with the system. We then contacted the service manager, Dominic. Unfortunately, the conversation was extremely unpleasant. He was dismissive, rude, arrogant and said he would "do us a favor" by sending another technician, even though these were paid service calls. Visit #3: I mentioned to the Tech that we could smell propane in the attic where the furnace is located. The technician responded that he works with gas and oil so often that he has "no sense of smell," and again concluded there was no issue. The following day our propane supplier delivered fuel and immediately identified a gas leak in the furnace gas line--in the same area the technician had reportedly checked. We had to hire a plumber to repair the leak at a cost of $475, which should never have occurred. Visit #4 I called IT Landis after the gas line repair that was caused by the first tech and this tech again stated that the house was warm. I attempted to explain that the outside temperature happened to be 68 degrees that day so the inside temp was reading 68 but the system still did not heat to the 69 degree set point on the thermostat Visit #5 and Resolution: After four visits from IT Landis with no solution, we contacted another HVAC company. Within 15 minutes, they identified the real issue: the trunk line supplying heat to the first floor had become disconnected/loose, meaning the system was heating the attic instead of the living space so the thermostat would never reach the 69 degree setpoint. The repair cost $520. In total, FOUR IT Landis "technicians" failed to diagnose OBVIOUS ISSUES, including a gas leak that was caused by them and a disconnected/loose trunk line. Between the poor diagnostics and extremely unprofessional customer service from management, this was the worst service experiences I have ever had. BTW, the arrogant service manager had the audacity to mail us an $800 bill...GOOD LUCK ATTEMPTING TO COLLECT ON THAT. We spoke to an attorney and was advised that we should file a lawsuit against IT Landis for creating a potential fire/explosion/carbon monoxide hazard that they caused with the leaking gas line, excessive propane usage due to the gas leak, and their inability to repair the trunk line issue thus causing the furnace to run 24/7 for over two weeks causing us to incur over $2100 in unnecessary propane bills. Based on our experience, I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere for HVAC service. DO NOT USE IT Landis

I am hesitant to leave this review but I think its important for people to know. We asked for an…read moreestimate to replace our water heater. Two quotes - one $5719 and the other at $5084. I mean I always expect some mark up for parts and, of course, labor fees but the estimate I received was just greed and price gouging. First, the water heater itself retail cost around $1,000. IT Landes wanted to charge me $2,567. Second, IT Landes quoted the drain pain at $207. The same drain pan at Home Depot is $25! Next, IT Landes wanted $700 for two ball valve pro presses. Same ball valve pro press at Home Depot was $41.90. In addition, IT Landes quoted installing a temporary floodstop at $543. The same item at Walmart is less than $200. Next, they quoted repairing a pipe (which didn't need repaired) for $708. Lastly, and this is the kicker, $99.00 for every half hour that IT Landes was doing the job which likely would have been 3-4 hours long. Thankfully, I called Home Depot installation services who did the job (new water heater and drain pan without all the unnecessary items) for less than $2000. And we still got a 6 year warranty on parts and 10 year warranty on labor with Home Depot. Unless you have money to burn don't use IT Landes. Save your money and go through Home Depot. I attached IT Landes "estimates" for your viewing pleasure.
