It really is as good of a primary health practice as you can get without having your own private…read moredoctor. Both of our daughters have been patients here from birth. They have a primary care physician assigned - Dr. Sexter - but they have at some point or another been seen by all of their physicians. Every one of them are great: kind, compassionate, attentive, and responsive. You will feel heard and they will address your concerns. Their knowledge and expertise is extraordinary. The office - staff and doctors - are also super responsive. If you have a pressing question, someone will get back to you that day. If it's an after hours emergency, there is always a doctor on call and they will respond within 30 minutes. The doctors hold daily office hours but it can be tricky to get a hold of them if they're experiencing a volume of calls. An extra perk I like is that they keep appointments available daily for those common but unplanned for illnesses, and they have a separate waiting room for sick vs not sick. It just runs so well you wonder why more doctors' offices don't do the same. Now of course, the one downside is they are out of network. It's not cheap. I think it's worth it if you can, but financially it can hurt if your kids have a lot of illnesses or shots in a limited period of time. They do at least submit the insurance forms for you, and that helps some. I wholeheartedly recommend this practice and all the doctors in it, and have a deep appreciation for how Dr. Sexter and Nurse Jennifer have taken care of our girls.

So impressed once again with Dr Long after the birth of my second son. This review is so long…read moreoverdue ! She has been my 2 year olds doctor for the past 2 years and we are continually impressed. The office is fantastic , clean , inviting , separate infant space. The front desk staff always try to accommodate you same day and we've never had an issue getting an appointment. Dr Long is caring , warm , and so knowledgeable. She works with us to troubleshoot issues when/if they come up and is readily available. Thank you Spring Valley Peds and Dr Long for the fabulous care of our boys!!! K&M

One star because the doctors at this practice are excellent. But their after-business hours service…read moreis unacceptable. We have attempted to use the service on three separate occasions and have been met with repeated failures and a lack of timely, appropriate care. In all three cases, we were also told there was no record of our doctor, Dr. Melissa Kelley--who we have seen multiple times and who is very much part of the Foggy Bottom practice. This is deeply concerning and suggests disorganization or lack of integration between their records and after-hours service. Frankly, this level of care is unacceptable. Pediatric care does not stop at 5 p.m. or take weekends off. Children often have urgent needs outside of regular business hours, and families should be able to rely on timely support from their medical provider--whether from an on-call doctor or nurse with access to medical records and treatment history. My extended family--many of whom have raised children and grandchildren across a wide range of practices--agree that they have never experienced or heard of such a lack of after-hours support from a pediatric provider.

One star because most of the doctors are wonderful. That's where it ends and we are finally being…read moredriven away from doctors we love because of staff that are beyond rude and horrific to deal with. We've seen it all - missed vaccines like others have said, I've been hung up on by the office staff etc. Forget about making a timely appointment, talking to anyone or getting a sick appointment. I genuinely don't know how this practice stays in business because the level of responsiveness/client service is beyond abysmal. They treat parents like nuisances. Save yourself the aggravation and avoid this practice at all costs.

I would not recommend this pediatric practice…read more Very difficult to deal with. They have a zero tolerance late policy. I brought my son in for a sick visit. I ended up being twelve minutes late because i had both kids and couldn't get the baby out of a tight spot so had to switch parking spaces. The front desk made me wait almost thirty minutes to tell me that I was being denied a visit because i was late. When I called to complain the management basically stood behind that and said we reserve the right to deny even if you are one minute late. But no problem having you the parent wait. Cool cool. Ive never seen the same provider twice there very much a factory. We are at children's medical associates so far so good. I am willing to make the drive. Also considered going back to our DC pediatrician west end peds which is pretty good. The admin/medical records side of this practice also terrible. Playing phone tag with them to pay them to send the medical records. The cost varies by the number of pages of the record. Cool cool cool. I made the right decision switching!!!

We had the best experience! We met with Karen Johnson, MSN, CPNP. She was absolutely amazing…read more She did a thorough assessment and provided clear instructions on what to do. Our situation required a follow up the day after. Although she wasn't working the next day, she made sure another physician took a look at my daughter so that the following day they'd have a baseline to assess progress. She also went out of her way to call us and follow up a few days later just to make sure things were moving in the right direction. I highly recommend Karen and trust her with our care. She was a perfect example of the type of care and attention to detail you want from your medical provider.

I feel the need to warn other parents about this really sub-par pediatric office. We went to Dr…read more Evans there, who we love, and she's no longer at the practice so I feel comfortable writing this review for the overall practice. Operations: Start counting the hours of your time that this practice will waste. 98% of the time when you call them, there is an automated message that just says "please call back later" and hangs up on you without being able to leave a message. If you choose any of the menu options where you can leave a message (e.g., billing department), the message becomes "this mailbox is not monitored, please call the main office number". I feel like I'm being punked. They also charge you $25 for calling the on-call service with more urgent questions. When we finally did switch to another practice, they only sent over half my son's records and I had to call back a thousand times through their ridiculous system once again. Medical care: At our son's 1-year appointment, we made our next appointment at the front desk which they made for when he was 18 months. We did not question this. When we came back at 18 months, we were chided by the medical staff for "missing his 15 month appointment and so he's behind on his vaccines, which is very dangerous in this time period of increased respiratory illnesses". We also asked at every visit if we could receive a COVID vaccine for him, and were told we'd be put on a wait list and it would be available by the next visit, but it never was. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
