Whitehill Pool is pretty much just that; one big pool and a tiny kids pool where the "deep end" reaches just above my waist. There are no chutes here; no flumes; no frills; no fun! As basic as it is, it serves its purpose if you're simply looking to swim a few lengths, however I'd advise getting in early if you want to avoid dive bombing dafties and lane hogging old ladies.

The biggest issue I have with Whitehill pool is the cleanliness of the changing rooms and also the temperature. I know it's normal for it to be cold when you get out of the swimming pool but this is something else. It is absolutely FREEZING and not only the but the showers are old and unpredictable and go from being BOILING to FREEZING in a matter of seconds. There is also the unmistakable and inexcusable smell of sewage coming up from the drains. The place really needs upgrading. It's a shame really because Whitehill is my nearest swimming pool. Laps is what I like to do the best and it's ideal because there are quiet periods where I can sometimes even have the pool to myself. It's just a shame that the facilities are so poor!

I've only been to Scotstoun for the rugby at the stadium, so my review relates to that…read more The stadium is fairly small, about 1/10 capacity of Ibrox or Parkhead. There's only 3 stands at Scotstoun, but at £15 for a standing ticket (in advance) you can't complain about watching Glasgow's only pro rugby team. Watching rugby live isn't like watching it on TV, the atmosphere is much better than you'd expect for 6000 people. On match days you'll find plenty of small food trucks, a dedicated Guinness bar (pro12 sponsors) as well as the clubhouse which has a bar, food & pre/post match entertainment. There's a merchant stall as well as a kids zone to keep the wains entertained. The one difference between football & rugby games is that you'll find some of the players wandering around & taking part in passing circles with kids etc. If you've never been down to a rugby match at Scotstoun, then you're missing out on a great afternoon/evening. There's beer as well!

In line with the general run of Glasgow Council's pools, the centre is immaculately clean, and a gym membership covers all of the Council's sports' facilities. The gym is busy and businesslike: Scoutstoun is the ideal place for a complete work out, even if it is some distance from the town centre and slightly off the beaten track. The sauna suite suite is especially impressive, with a women only night on Tuesday, but it always worth catching a class or two. The Body Combat is good for a high energy laugh.

You know what? This leisure centre is pretty good!…read more I have always been drawn to the private gyms with their plush towels and tanned personal trainers in logo emblazoned polo shirts. Unfortunately I can't afford private gym membership so I use the Meadow Centre (which is a local council gym) on a pay as you go basis. It has a swimming pool complete with wave machine and flume but also has a section for lane swimming, as well as a steam room and a sauna. There are sports courts for badminton, football, basketball etc, a 68 piece gym and a number of fitness classes. I mostly use this gym for the swimming pool, the steam room and the kettlersize and hips, bums and tums fitness classes. I love the classes and I genuinely look forward to them every week. The trainer is friendly and enthusiastic without being annoying! The classes are kept to a nice small size (about 15 people) and the equipment (kettle bells, floor mats etc.) are in good condition. At the end of the day it's a square room to jump about it and sweat so I'm quite happy doing that for a fraction of the price of a private gym! It's £4.50 per class on a pay as you go basis and there are a variety of full membership options available. The ability to book your fitness classes online is invaluable!

Drop off your keys as deposit for a locker key then crack on with your routine. Big plus for me is the daily rate charge. No contract and no hassle and great value if you're only attending a gym once a week like me. There are contract options available as well as up front options that offer good value for heavier users. Varied community of customers from those doing their own workout, to folk working through a tough routine with a personal trainer, to the folk on the weights. Staff friendly and helpful with any questions. It's a great local facility conveniently placed in Shawlands. Nice to have a bit of a view over Kilmarnock road too. Particular when it's wet and miserable outside!

Some members would hog equipment and tell you that they where doing a circuit with 3 items of equipment. There was a rule that you had to arrive at the gym an hour and a half before it closed or entry would be denied. The changing rooms had a really bad smell as they had not been cleaned in some time with the toilets being a disgrace where l had to bring in scented toilet blocks to mask the stench. Some staff could be rude towards members, there was never politeness or any personal touch. When my membership ended l went elsewhere l would never recommend this gym. If there was a minus rating here i would kindly give them a minus 1 star.

I paid a second visit in the form of the Cannie Gingers versus the Parma Violents Roller Derby match. (GO, BRIONY, GO!) This time round, I can honestly say that as a sporting venue, it's fabulous for events. The main hall was a really good size, perfect for the various Roller Derby team stalls and the spectators were treated to bleachers, meaning you could get a great view of the action from wherever you were seated. (I really loved this, it made me feel like I was at an All-American game!) The hall's size meant minimal queuing so we really were in in no time! Whilst I can't comment on the ticketing and organisation side of things, as that was all done by Roller Derby, (They did a really good job!) the venue really did feel suited to the day and made for an all-round great experience. I can't say I'm completely enamoured by the Peak just yet since there was a leak just above my spot which meant avoiding the drips during the game! (Eek!) But in all fairness, I do think that it deserves some props for managing to host bigger scale events, similar to those held in larger cities. I may well come and try that ice rink. I'm holding out on you, Peak!

We were in the main hall which has banked seating at one end for a crowd which was good although normally a crowd would sit along the long side of the track rather than the bend. The floor itself is a normal basketball court and was very good for skating on. The changing rooms we used were very clean and fit in about 20 of us while we got ready for the game. The staff made sure to lock the room while we were playing so we didn't have to worry about our valuables which was appreciated. There was a good amount of toilet facilities which meant there weren't any queues at halftime. In the foyer area there's a shop as well as a cafe and a climbing wall which I didn't notice until we were on our way out (clearly I was too focused on the game). The car park was large enough that we got a spot easily and didn't have to wait ages to leave the car park again at the end, and it was easy to get to from Glasgow. All round, an impressive venue.

They have pigs, ducks, geese, snakes, cats, horses, sheep, donkeys, ferrets, llamas, rabbits, guinea pigs, chinchillas and many more! They had lovely staff volunteers that were willing to show us the grounds along with information about the allotment gardens across the way. Overall a great experience for the family! I would recommend wearing clothes you don't mind getting dirty and Wellington boots. This farm can get pretty muddy, but it definitely doesn't stop you from having a great time. They also had a lovely play area for children in the front center where some ducks congregated. Overall a fun experience, can't wait to go back!

The staff are very friendly, and they took part in the games competitively, but without zapping us too much. Looks like it would be good for kids partys, there was one going on at the same time and they seemed to be having a fine time. It was a very hot day, but it's in a big building so the heat inside wasn't overpowering. It's a bit difficult to find, and their website doesn't seem to be working yet, so I suggest finding their phone number and calling up to book before going along.
