Overall an average dining experience on par with most of the Mexican restaurants in the area with a few glaring exceptions. Their perfect margarita is far from perfect lacking any lime flavor. The salsa is very watery and runny. On a good note the carne asada was flavorful, tender and perfectly grilled, unfortunately the plate sat under the salamander a bit too long to the point the rice dried out and browned. Service was average. With so many choices in this restaurant segment I'm not sure there is enough to woo me back. read more

Estefania was our server. She as well as the food was excellent. The atmosphere was great. We had the fish tacos, tipicos, and the chicken tortilla soup. Our server made the recommendation for the fish tacos. It was spot on! My granddaughter thought this was the best Mexican restaurant ever. read more

As far as tex-mex goes in central Ohio I have to say this is one of the better places I've eaten at. More flavorful than El Vaquero without overdoing it like Los Jalapeno's. The burritos are good. Good service and ample parking. read more

Service is absolutely horrible. Our order was messed up so many times we just gave up and ate what we ended up with. Party of 4, when our entrees arrived an hour after ordering them, no exaggeration, they were short and entree. They then proceeded to ask my wife what she ordered. While waiting for them to start her entree the other 3 of us are abandoned with no silverware. Now it makes sense as to why we were seated immediately on a Saturday evening. Excellent service and very friendly staff. The food was perfect for the entire family but beware the free salsa is a little on the hot side for children. I can't remember the exact name of what I ordered but it was number 60 something and included two burritos with rice, corn and pico de gallo. It was excellent and would love to have it again. My only complain would be that there are too many items to choose from on the menu just like most Mexican restaurants. I really wanted this place to be good, but... I've visited Rancho Alegre twice. Once, when it first opened. It wasn't a great experience. Mediocre food, the service was slow, etc. but, as I said, they were newly opened so I waited to give them a second chance. Let them get their feet under them. My second visit was on a Saturday afternoon. The restaurant was clean, nicely decorated and we were greeted promptly. Seated Immediately. So far, so good. No waiting for the waiter, excellent. Looked over the menu, pretty much the usual Americanized Mexican food and placed our order. The food arrived quickly... almost too quickly. I would like to say it was best I've ever eaten... can't. We shared a burrito, taco and enchilada [yawn]. Long story short, the food was ok... just ok. I wish the decor and the service could make up for the uninspired food; however, I dine out to experience something I can't make at home or for a taste I can't replicate. I'm pretty sure I could reproduce that meal in just a little more time than Rancho Alegre did. Having said that, I don't think I'll be back. read more

Oh no! The love affair is over. The train has gone off the tracks in a big way. My family used to LOVE this restaurant. Unfortunately, the last 4-5 times we have been here have not been pleasant. After tonight, it unlikely that we will return anytime soon - if ever. I wish things were the way they used to be. The service is no longer fast and friendly. Our wait has become longer and longer each time. At least one (if not several) of our orders has been wrong each time. We're only a family of 4, so it shouldn't be too hard - we don't order anything outrageous. When the food does come, it is now mediocre. It used to be remarkable. We would frequent Rancho Alegre several times a month and walk away happy. We raved about this place to many of our friends and family over the years. Now, I can no longer remember the last time we left happy. The salsa, however, remains the best in town and I will definitely miss it. Good-bye Rancho Alegre...it was fun while it lasted! read more

Stopped in here again last night,1/10/2014. The food was great. I've been here several times and the service is not always top notch but the food usually is. They have an extensive menu and it pays to try different things. I've only had a clinker one night and it may have been a different staff in the kitchen or whatever. The location is not great but If they focus on their service a little more closely it would help. Love the food though. I will definitely stop again. read more

Awful service. Unless you speak fluent Spanish they have no interest in serving you. We sat down at the bar and ordered water first, she walked down to the other end of the bar and chatted with some friends before getting waters 5 minutes later. I could understand if the place was busy but there were 8 people including my dad and I at the bar. We both ordered fajitas and the server did not even realize that my father had received his and I had not. 20 minutes later I had food. Servers were too busy on their phones and flirting with one another. When we asked for a manager she laughed and said no. Not impressed and will not return. read more

We had an epic bad service experience. Service was very slow. No check back from the waiter after food delivery. No drink refills. My husband's food was a stinky, burnt mess. Had to go find someone to help. I ordered a steak burrito with no guacamole. About 2 bites in I found guacamole. It was like they put it on then remembered and just scraped it off. Again had to find someone to help. When we could finally get our bill, the burrito was still on there. I asked for the manager who finally appeared after 10 minutes unwilling to do anything. The final straw was when we were paying, the clueless waiter brought out a random plate from the kitchen saying I ate the food. We eat out all the time and we experience all kinds of customer service levels. I have never had an experience like this. read more

I frequent this place a lot because its close to home. I like the soup but haven't found as entree I like. Today I ordered the #48 and it was disgusting, slimmy with barely any meat. I decided to say something to the owner and he and he refused to remove the item from my bill. I will not be back. read more

Service was terrible. Waited an hour for food, which ended up being terrible anyway. Since by that point we asked for the food to go, we didnt check the bags until we were at my friend's place. Turns out they had forgot half of my order. A friend spoke to the manager who didnt care at all about our experience and wanted to know if we were still going to pay. I have been here many times. The chips and salsa are not as good as El Vaquero. However their food is not as salty as El Vaquero. The portion sizes are reasonable. The Price is average to below average. They have coupons in the mailer - ValPak (at times). Sometimes service is good and sometimes it's bad. I think one of the guys is high on drugs. He screwed up the order. Screwed up the check (gave us the wrong check and just looked at it confused as hell) five to ten minutes later we got it straightened out. read more

A friend suggested this restaurant because they have a private area, the food was great, and I host a lot of events. So I hosted a meeting for a not for profit organization there yesterday. Upon entering I loved the decor. However, after seating I had to wait ten minutes for a waitress to take my order. I asked her to give me a moment to look at the menu. I tried to get her attention because it had been twenty minutes but she said she had to help other people & walked away saying other stuff under her breath. By this time others had joined the meeting & witnessed this rudeness. she finally came back twenty minutes later and said "are you ready to order now" in a very sarcastic tone. I simple asked to speak to one, because I was in a meeting and couldn't deal with a rude waitress and appear unprofessional. She said there was none on duty. However, I asked another waitress and the manager came over who in her defense said she is stressful out because she has a lot of tables with no apology. Myself and another person attending the meeting were given the opportunity to order any food. Being a wedding & event planner of over seven years you can imagine the recommendations for venues & restaurants. So as you can assume, I will never step food in this establishment nor recommend this restaurant to any friends, family or potential clients. read more

this is the PLACE for margaritas. i don't even like them and love the ones prepared here. the place is clean and so are the servers. the food is the greatest. we love the chicken tortilla soap, full of chicken and the broth is really rich. we have had just about everything on the menu because are family gets together there on thurs nights, and it is always hot,fresh and served with smiles and great service. can you get that we love this eatery and the staff. read more
