Probably my favorite Mexican restaurant in columbus. Shout out to my boss who exposed me because it's definitely worth it and affordable. I spend about $20 if I get a drink, two tacos, a tostada & chips + guacamole. Tacos are delicious & it's one of the few places you can get a tostada that is crunchy and flavorful. Service is really good I've also had the horchata and cucumber agua fresca, would recommend them both. My go-to is guacamole+chips, beef or chicken street style tacos and or the chicken tostada. I wish I could get back in time 2 years and come and eat again, I used to love this place, the tacos, burritos, gorditas I thought every single dish here was good but unfortunately this time it wasn't like that. I order the birria soup, and it was good, I have no complains, but the burrito had a major downgrade, it lacked everything, it was big but flavor wise was so dull, same with the flautas not good at all. We order a taco at the end just to try to say we had an excuse to drive 30 minutes to eat here but it was just ok. I have wanted to try these guys out forever since they are two minutes from my house and I love Mexican food. My concern has always been that my version of Mexican food are the Americanized chain restaurants, so I wasn't sure if I would like authentic Mexican. But I finally made the leap and walked in to place an order. This place was packed! There are maybe 15 tables for patrons to eat inside with a fairly good amount of room to move around. My to-go order was taken immediately by very friendly staff; I ordered a burrito with carnitas and a chicken quesadilla (my typical order at my Americanized restaurants). After a 15 minute wait my food was ready and I headed home. I was blown away by the portion size of my food. The burrito was enormous! And the quesadilla could have been my entire meal instead of just a side item. Everything was fresh and made to order and oh so tasty! I wasn't a huge fan of their hot sauce but other than that, the food was perfection. I will definitely be heading back to El Ranchito the next time I'm craving Mexican food!! read more

I had their Flautas and their Taco de Camaron and wasn't really impressed. The Flautas were just a tad too crispy for my liking, a bit hard to bite into. The chicken inside was extremely dry and unseasoned. There was a bunch of lettuce piled on top of them that seemed a bit of an odd choice. Couldn't really hold much of it on top so most of it went to waste. Felt like they could've used more cheese on top. The tacos were meh. The shrimp was also unseasoned so pretty bland. I feel like it just needed a bit of something more besides onions and cilantro to give it some flavor, like a sauce or cheese or something. read more

The tostadas are my brother & sisters' favorite. My mom loves the sopes & my dad loves the menudo & tacos de cabeza. My favorite is the torta de carne asada. It's not too big like other tortas and has the right amount of melted cheese y el pan es muy sabroso. All in all, you really can not go wrong with what you order here. This used to be one of my favorite local Mexican restaurants. I started going there a couple years ago and everything was delicious. There wasn't an item on the menu that I didn't try in like. My go to was always the Carne Asada platter. It was flavorful and filling. I stopped in today after not being there for a while and order my Carne Asada to go. They forgot to put in the guacamole salad so all I had was meat rice and beans. Rice and beans were good with a little bit of salsa added for flavoring, but the steak itself was like dog food. It was hard to chew in every bite had a large amount of fat in it. I will think twice about going here and getting that again. I may go back and try the tacos as they were always a go to, but this time around I was definitely not satisfied. read more

I love this little Mexican spot! It's so authentic and unlike the usual Mexican restaurants in the Columbus area that cater to gringos. If you visit this place, you will have a fully authentic and delicious meal. El Ranchito has plenty of parking out front. Inside, they are doing a great job with social distancing. They have partitions between the booths and masks are required. I felt totally safe there. The menu has an overwhelming amount of options. Everything looked so good but I ended up going with a Torta. It was delicious and I really enjoyed it! The service was impeccable and this was just an all around great experience and I can't wait to visit again. read more

Ok let's start off by saying these guys have 5 stars because the food is really really good and the prices are even better. It's a great place to get a good bite to eat and there's huge portions like you'll come out feeling like a burrito! The guacamole and tortillas are so good everything is House made and fresh. Their kids menu is priced really well and the sizes are good for kids. My son had rice n beans with chicken for $5. My husband had a steak and chorizo quesadilla for $6 and my veggie quesadilla was the same. I took off one star bc they serve plastic forks and all it's so horrible for the environment. This place is STILL amazing and going strong five years later! It survived Covid, thank goodness!!! Probably one of the only restaurants I know of that still seemed to thrive despite everything. The one issue is that more people know about it and it's WAY busier than five years ago. Like expect it to be crowded and have a wait. But it's SO WORTH the wait!! Also very diverse and friendly crowd here! Food is still fresh and amazing, I love it! It's best to go in person versus ordering to-go on phone. Not that you can't, it's just so busy they sometimes forget you're on the phone. Stopped in to have some dinner. Order a steak fajita dinner. The meal came with rice, beans, pick, avacado. Ton of meat but very chewy, rice was over cooked and clumpy. Beans had very little flavor to them. Make things worse, the air conditioning was working well. They had the door open and with it being 84 out, made it very uncomfortable. read more

If you're craving some authentic Mexican food, run, don't walk to el ranchito. I don't really know how to describe in words how good the food was. First of all, the chips were the homemade kind and came out warm. The guac was fresh and well seasoned. We also tried the al pastor taco, steak Gordita, chicken flauta, and chorizo quesadilla.
