Very clean restaurant. Socially distanced and upbeat vibes!
Cristina D.

A friendly spot for Mexican food in beautiful Buena Vista! A great spot where the community comes together. Also they offer convenient takeout, and a bar with all of the traditional Mexican drinks! Pros: Quick and Friendly service: The folks at Don Tequila were very friendly and seemed knowledgeable about their menu. They were open to answering questions about the various options and prices with each item. My friend and I received our takeout food very quickly, as well. - Ambiance and vibes of restaurant: The overall scene in the restaurant was happy and cheery, with upbeat Mexican music playing. The restaurant had many patrons, consisting of families and some young adults as well. Overall, a very active, bright and upbeat feeling. Very low prices: All food on the menu was incredibly reasonably priced. There were various entrée items for under $10, which was great to see. Portions were also quite large. Definitely a great deal. Free chips and very good salsa: The salsa accompanying the free chips was really delicious. Margarita was really good: My friend and I got a margarita (also really reasonably priced) and it was delicious. The perfect balance of alcohol to the margarita mix, and rimmed with salt! You can see it in the picture, as well. Cons: Enchilada was good, but tasted a bit more like a calzone: My friend ordered an enchilada, and while he enjoyed it, he told me that he felt that it tasted more like a calzone than like an enchilada. Would prefer that the food was cut into pieces: As mentioned above, the portion sizes were great! I ordered a fajita as a to-go order, and though this is a minor critique, I wished that it had been cut up into a few slices--it would have just been a bit easier to eat!

Lunchtime margarita! Only $3.75!

For the price, Don Tequilas was pretty good! The ambiance is cute with peppy Mexican music playing softly in the background. Service is friendly and incredibly fast. The price can't be beat, especially for the lunch specials. While we looked over the menu, the server gave us a basket of tortilla chips served with fresh salsa and a side of white sauce. Those chips were uhhhmazing. Thick, super crisp and fresh. I would come back just for the free chips. We ordered the lunch special #10 (beef enchilada, quesadilla, and chalupa). The hubby ordered the fajita lunch special, served with two tortillas. Portions were pretty large, and I actually couldn't finish mine, but that might be due to all the chips I ate. Yummm. I thought the food was pretty good, although the cheese tasted kind of like processed white american cheese (you know the individually wrapped Craft american cheese sheets that you buy at the grocery store, that stick to the roof of your mouth). Whether it was indeed that or some other cheese, i dont know, but it definitely wasn't the usual queso fresco/cotija. I also indulged in a lunchtime margarita. It was only $3.75 so I couldn't resist. It was delicious. Then I saw a sign that said $1.99 margaritas on Tuesdays. I know where I will be on Tuesdays.

Booths, tables, futbol.

They had a lot of customers dining in and a few picking up takeaway orders. It didn't take very long for them to take our orders and to have it come out of the kitchen. They have a spacious dining area that is decorated very much on theme with Mexican-inspired decor and murals. It was cute. I ordered carnitas and a frozen mango margarita. We also ordered guacamole to share for the table. The carnitas plate was a filling portion and was quite flavorful. I quite enjoyed it. I was really disappointed with the frozen margarita; it tasted just like juice, and I was kind of looking forward to drinking a stronger margarita. We asked for a little bit more tequila to add to it, but it didn't help much. I think was balance was all out of wack. The guacamole we ordered also never made its way to our table, and we had to ask the cashier to confirm with our waiter that they need to take it off our bill because we never got it. Overall, we had an okay experience.

The chips were clearly fresh out of the fryer, perfectly crisp, and paired with a flavorful salsa that had a nice hint of heat. We both ordered the Speedy Gonzales, featuring a cheese enchilada, beef taco, and refried beans. As expected, everything was consistently good and exactly what we've come to enjoy from that dish. The restaurant itself has a great look and feel, making it an easy and enjoyable stop for lunch. We would certainly come back again if we're ever in the area

We had to seek out the hostess to be seated. No menus were given nor were any napkins or silverware brought with the complimentary chips. We had to go to the hostess station and get our own menus and silverware. Eventually someone came and took our drink and food orders at the same time. Once the food came out half of our party was served, and the other half sat with no food. The food that did come was served lukewarm to cold. The half that didn't get served sat waiting while the other half finished their meals. Finally the hostess noticed that there were some that didn't have food and fairly quickly had the rest of our party served. This last round was actually served hot! During the wait complimentary chips were not replenished and additional drink orders were never taken. We tried to order straight from the bar and were told that we had to order from our nonexistent server. Clearly there is a management problem here. The servers were not trained well in attention to detail or multitasking. The napkin holders were empty and we got attitude when we asked for napkins. The salt shakers were clogged due to lack of cleaning. We have been here before and had similar issues with service. Do yourself a favor and go to Don Tequila's in town where you get excellent service, replenished drinks, and hot food served to everyone in your party at the same time.

Yikes! We had high expectations due to the high rating and delicious looking pictures online…read more Unfortunately, the food we received (which was VERY expensive, by the way, and prices for most items were not on the menu) was subpar. We ordered the al pastor tacos with rice and beans, chicken tacos, asada tacos, and asada torta. The good stuff: service was friendly, the wait wasn't too long, and the portions were good (the torta was GIANT). The atmosphere outside would probably be nice at night (they have outdoor seating, tables, lights). The torta was the best thing we ordered, it was good! Unfortunately, all the meat we got was dry and unseasoned. In the torta it was masked by all the other ingredients, but all of the tacos are more simple, so the unseasoned meat couldn't be covered up. The pork on the al pastor was so dry and flavorless I couldn't force myself to take more than a couple bites. The rice and beans also tasted unseasoned and flavorless which was very disappointing. All of this wouldn't have been so disappointing if it wasn't extremely expensive (we are visiting from DC and even street tacos there are cheaper!). We were expecting high quality for a meal that was almost $70 total (9 tacos with one side of rice and beans, one torta, and a soda).

Loved this spot! Was a nice day out and the tables were clean, food came out quick and was very…read moregood!

I went ahead with that, and it was both redundant of classic ice cream sandwiches, but also delivered a highly pure dairy flavor typical of quality gelato. I got a Matcha to balance out the sweetness. While it looks a little foamy on top, it was a very strong, almost grass flavored beverage that was appropriate to the circumstance.
