Chips and salsa

One of the best and most authentic places to get Mexican food in Lynchburg! It may look unassuming from the street view, but it is definitely worth the trip. I can't tell you how many times I've driven by until I decided to give them a try! I was so glad I did! I ordered the vegetable tacos with rice and beans. The wait was a bit longer than most food trucks, but faster than any sit-down Mexican restaurant around. The tacos were loaded with veggies, and squeezing the limes gave them additional flavor that complemented the other ingredients incredibly well. The serving size was generous; the food was so good I finished it all but definitely left very full! I wish they had enchiladas on the menu, but they made me into a taco fan!

Best authentic Mexican food in Lynchburg. The family who owns it is SO nice and friendly! I was debating between drinking the Mexican coke or the strawberry jarrito, and I couldn't decide, so he gave me the strawberry jarrito to try for free You can tell that the food is made with love and the overall ambience of the outdoor area is sooooo nice! Such pretty rainbow lights! Absolutely love this place and will be going here weekly from now on. God bless!!!

I'm going to try to make this short. My boyfriend and I met in college. When I first came to…read moreLynchburg he took me to "the best restaurant in town," La Carreta. Being Mexican myself and being raised in Northern Virginia (cultural hub) I was heavily disappointed. No shame in Mexican food chains but he said "the best." I was expecting authentic. In our almost three years of dating every time I visit I try to find an authentic Hispanic food restaurant in Lynchburg. Because we don't have many in our college town and it's nice to discover what all the small city of Lynchburg holds. This story is already getting long... I stumbled upon this gem on yelp while visiting him. He was at work and I asked his roommate if he ever had pupusas (Salvadorian dish) and the roommate said no but he was down to try it. Later that afternoon we made a point to go to this restaurant and pick up some pupusas. This is authentic Salvadorian food. I guarantee it will satisfy your South American food needs. If you've never tried Salvadorian food I encourage you to expand your palate. It is a little hole in the wall, but definitely worth it. I was surprised at how many country folks were there! They know what's good. P.S Try the rice. It's one of my favorites, I personally like it just as much as Mexican red rice. Also, there are three kinds of pupusas. I recommend the mixed pupusa (mesclada).

I've found some good food on low-rent spots at the edge of many towns, but this one was pushing my…read morelimits. Between the people hacking away weeds with machetes outside in the crowded parking lot and the indoor space that had no AC and industrial strength fans blowing just to keep people from melting in the summer, and the takeout container they seemed to have burned some holes in, it was on the sketchy side. The food I took was a vegetarian platter. A corn tamale was tasty, but I kind of wished I'd just gotten pupusas and hopefully been able to get some variety. It's a cuisine worth trying, and there is another similarly named outlet in the area so perhaps I might see if that one is in better shape.

The mimosas are fantastic, so many varieties. If you can't decide they have a flight called,"My girlfriend can't decide ", where you choose 3 different flavored mimosas at a great deal! The Water Dog also has the best omelettes and grits around ! The grits are always creamy and come out hot (theirs always comes out hot-I can't stand to have cold food delivered to me). The omelettes are huge, I can never finish it in one seating, they are fluffy and loaded with whatever ingredient you choose. Let's not forget the eggs benedict! You get perfect poached eggs(not overcooked) and just the right amount of hollandaise so you have some with every bite. The outdoor seating (heated when necessary) is pet friendly if you'd like to bring your fur baby in which they also provide water bowls. Whatever you get there you will not be disappointed in the service , food and drinks. My husband and I love this place!

It's next to a small playground and new amphitheater, so I'm sure this place gets quite busy on weekends. We all enjoyed our lunches; just unfortunate that it took well over a half hour to receive them. Since we were traveling home to OH, we weren't too keen for a laid back lunch.
