The place is alright. If you're expecting The Staples Center or some other huge arena, this isn't it. The Don Haskins Center seats around 12,000. It's not huge but not small, either. It seems to always be clean inside and out. The restrooms have also been spotless everytime I've been. They usually sell concessions and souvenirs during events. It's not cheap but not entirely expensive. The staff is always courteous and helpful here and at the ticket center. Their parking staff is ok too. I have to say parking is kind of a burden. It runs about $10 to park in their garage across the street. Be sure and get there early because it fills up quick! Sometimes I'll just walk and park somewhere else. Be careful if you do this because they can tow your car. Look out for signs at businesses. My car got towed when I was attending a high school graduation one time. I parked at the nearby Pizza Hut. There went my car and over $100! Oops, my bad! Lesson learned! I've had the opportunity to see bands/shows, graduations and sporting events here. A few off the top of my head: Journey, Britney Spears...lol, Earth Wind & Fire, Nine Inch Nails, Cirque De Soleil, Luis Miguel, Pitbull/Enrique Iglesias and others. I look forward to seeing one of our hometown heroes, Khalid for the second time on 9-1. He, like myself, is an Americas High School graduate. Go Trailblazers! He's a lot younger than me but still! Lol.

Don Haskins...where I walked across the stage, where I've watched my friends play basketball for UTEP, where I've enjoyed a concert, and where I recently watched my cousin walk across the stage. Don Haskins makes a full circle and that's why it will always be a indispensable part of El Paso and it's history. This is a large basketball arena/event center that can hold around 10,000ish people (I now know this because of the women's basketball craze that was Kayla that recently happened). Orange seats, narrow walkways between 'em and overpriced foods. Everything I expect in a college sports center. I only have three gripes with DH and I think they are all very tangible improvements: 1. It generally feels dirty. Like Chuck E Cheese dirty where you know someone comes and sweeps up after guests have left, but the whole thing could use a scrub down. 2. It can hold 10,000 people, but there isn't parking for even half of that. On a crazy game night, big graduation, or huge event expect to park blocks away if you don't arrive at least an hour early. 3. The food is lackluster. Not to say it's bad...it's okay. It's just normal hot dogs and nachos at a ridiculous price. Doesn't UTEP have a culinary program? At minimum EPCC does. Get those college kids coming up with new menu items that are tasty and cost efficient. That's real life training, man. If I could only pick one improvement to take place I would choose number three. So chop, chop UTEP...let's make DH a 5 star venue!

You would think with all the events they have, they'd be a little more organized. Weather it's for graduation or concerts or games, there always seems to be a bit of confusion and nobody ever really knows anything. Besides that, I love this place as a venue. Every concert I've gone to, no technical difficulties and always good sound. Graduation is beautiful here.

This place has all good memories for me- the Eagles (when they were still all together), Trans Siberian Orchestra, and OVO Cirque de Soleil...every seat here is good. The location is perfect in the heart of everything by the college. My strategy is to make use of the parking garage right next to the center and come early so I can get a parking space. Then I wander across the street for a nice margarita before the show- people seem nicer when I walk back and wait in line. Coming from NY, this is an amazing opportunity for entertainment; there is nothing like this in a community setting back east. Shows downtown will cost upwards of $60 just to park- never mind the hour drive coming and going. If you are thinking of seeing a show here- don't hesitate. Get your tickets and enjoy the show!

This place is great for a college arena. Today we broke a previous record and got 10k+ in attendance for the WNIT! We won 70-63 against the Washington Huskies Just remember to leave either before the end of the game or wait well after. Traffics is usually horrible after big games like this. Food is expensive too so be prepared. ATM's charge 2 bucks for withdraws

No bad seats in the "Bear's Den!"

Once upon a time, long long ago, I went to the box office and asked about seating and the response I got is, "there isn't a bad seat in the Bear's den" and it's sooo true! For true Miner-ball fans, this center is known as the "Bear's Den" and it does not disappoint! Go for a concert, an opera, a sports event, whatever your fancy may be and know you will have an excellent seat. The arena is like any other you may attend but still within a manageable size that you can't get lost and you are guaranteed to have a great time. The seats are comfortable, new highlight screens have been put up, which is a double edge sword. The individual player stats have been removed but overall team stats are there now...I kind of liked the individual stats :-( Concessions are located throughout the place and I would highly recommend you try the kettle corn that is sold at every event! It's sooo addicting and you really can't stop eating it, plus free samples are given out to really hook you in for a purchase. You can expect the typical concession sales, with typical concession prices, but there are usually local vendors at the main entrance that will sell you some delicious food for almost the same price as you'd pay at the restaurant. So basically restaurant quality food in an arena... So grab a ticket, find your seat, pay homage to the Bear and the ONLY Texas University to be NCAA basketball champions, enjoy the show, and if you're driving to the hoop, you better do it strong because a weak drive won't fly IN THE BEAR'S DEN!! Go MINERS!! PICKS UP!!!

I have lived in El Paso for over 11 years and have never attended a UTEP Basketball Game at this venue until recently. Simply put, I am a fan. I appreciate that there are plenty of concessions to serve your needs that take both credit and cash. The prices seemed reasonable for a venue like this. The entire building appeared clean and well maintained. Mostly I enjoyed the seating. Seats were clearly marked with arm rests. Very different from the Miner Football Stadium were you might have to guess where to sit on the bench seating. Lastly, with the numerous displays and quality of the displays, there is no bad seat in the place. Save a few bucks and get the cheaper seats....

This is an absolute gem in the heart of El Paso…read more I have been here for many musicals and never grow tired of seeing its beautiful infrastructure and ornate decor that brings out so much class. To date, I have seen Phantom of the Opera, Waitress, and Hairspray. I actually also missed out on an opportunity to see the hilarious Jo Koy who did his stint here as well but heard nothing but good things! I'm thrilled that El Paso can have these Off Broadway shows so that everyone can experience the beauty of theater art and see how much talent a group of people can put a show together and wow a crowd of all ages. A lot of people don't seem to realize just how crowded a theater can get and I've literally seen people leave because of that reason. It's unfortunate because it often happens when the show has already started and people on stage very much see every movement of the audience. Although it puts a slight hamper on the theater experience for myself, the shows are beyond magical and captivating to forget all about that inconvenience thankfully. I also have never bought season tickets for anything in my life but in order to get the optimal seats I wanted AND make sure it can be for Hamilton (only the best musical to date), I had to get season tickets. For Orchestra row S, I was very happy to pay $1000 for 6 shows. Thank you La Plaza Theater for bringing more life to El Paso!

From classic rock, to Broadway shows- and even the Dave Koz Christmas Jazz spectacular I saw tonight- the sound was incredible. Every seat in the house is a good seat! You can't go wrong- El Paso, get out during the week and see a show or concert. They have a "basics" bar- they can make basic cocktails, and they have wine. They beverages are served in these very cool souvenir cups with a snap lid to prevent spills as you make your way back to your seat- and the bartenders can make a gooood drink! I take Uber or Lyft when I come so I don't have to deal with traffic and parking. There are two major restaurants right in the vicinity for pre show dinner or post show drinks and dessert. Folks take advantage- this venue would be $$$$ in NY!

VIP tickets sold out quickly so we just went to check it out, it was everyone's first time. Free music, free parking, free games, what's not to like? Got there at 6:30pm and there was a line to get in (no water, no food, etc), a line for the auditorium, lines for food trucks and alcohol. Not as expensive as a ballpark game and a lot of variety of food and drinks. It was VERY well organized. They're very strict with bringing stuff in and the guard was thoroughly checking bags. There's a preshow band and lots of little information booths. I met Monica, who always makes me smile with her articles and is such a positive fun spirit here. She hosted the show and was super bubbly. The band Azucar was fantastic and had a surprise guest who wow'ed the crowd with her Selena set. We took a picture with her and she was so sweet. She has a great work ethic for one so young, it was her dad's birthday and she still came out. The crowd was a lot of fun and super supportive! I love the joyful dancing and everyone was just having a blast. The food trucks all sold out early so hit them first!Clean bathrooms, giveaways, and the Clark Nissan guy was a dance machine! While the focus of it is never really the performers, I can't say I've ever heard of any of the acts I've seen before or the ones that are coming this year, it's more about an opportunity to unwind outdoors with your friends and some cold beverages (which are also your friend). But the music does matter, and to El Paso Live's credit, they bring a different type of music style every Friday, giving good variety to the series, so, for example, if you don't like Tejano (and why would you?), you can still check out the event on a Friday when a Tex-Mex band will be performing, and once you realize that Tejano and Tex-Mex are exactly the same, you can look at the schedule and plan to come a Friday when a Rock or a Salsa band will be playing. Avoiding Tejano music is a very important thing to me, I work hard at it, and so should you, no ear deserves to be tortured in such a way. But back to the point, they bring different kinds of music. They also have beverage tents where you can buy a cold beverage to enjoy the afternoon. The concerts used to take place next to the Plaza Theater, but that's not information you needed to know, because this year they moved it to the Plaza area at the Convention Center. There's plenty of seating, but I recommend getting there about 45mins-1hr early if you want to secure a table.

TheDuke Blue Devils vanquished the Sun Devils of Arizona State 42-39. We entered the stadium via the Glory Road. Despite parking being an "adventure" for us after arriving after the start of the event, we found the walk to the entrance no so crowded or too busy. Finding our section and row was easy and the steps were not to dah ring for my 70yo mom to trudge up, then down. Since a group of us got tickets for this event, we were surrounded by a group of folks from Fort Bliss. It was a place to be social and enjoy the main event, surrounded by the wonderful people of El Paso and plenty of UTEP Miners that regularly call the Sun Bowl home. There are plenty of vendors underneath the stands, but it makes navigating the pathways. The innards of the bowl are well marked, so finding your section is easy. Once you get there, the seats are unblocked and access to the stadium today was awesome. On the rare chance that it does rain in El Paso, the bowl is uncovered...so come prepared. Similarly, since it's out in the open, the true threat is the glaring sun...sun block or shade is useful, if not necessary. All in all, we had a Grrrrrr-eat time at the Sun Bowl. Congrats to the Blue Devils.

My sister has been there before for football games , but has never gone there before for a major concert . I think if it wasn't for the scorching heat, it would have been a much more pleasant experience. Overall, though, it was hard to tell whether the city of El Paso was ready to handle the mega stardom of Coldplay, and the crazy crowds brought by Coldplay's presence in town! We attended the second concert in El Paso, which was exactly 2 weeks ago today on Sat (6/14). The lines could have been somewhat better organized because it wasn't completely clear which line was for what. Like so many others, our friend had already purchased our tickets through a legitimate and validated ticket vendor like StubHub. But even so, my sister decided to go to the very front of the many lines to inquire exactly where we were supposed to enter from. Once we found out we didn't have to stand in line for that long, we made our way to the front, got our ice cream sandwiches , refreshing cucumber drinks, and other drinks before we made our way into the stadium and to our seats. There were plenty of food and snack options. But the challenging part was getting through the throngs of crowds in the sweltering heat without fainting or passing out. We had heard that someone had fainted and passed out at the Fri (6/13) concert. So we were very careful and tried to stay as well-hydrated as we could in hopes that wouldn't happen to any of us ! The restrooms were not the greatest, but they were decent for their purpose. Once the opening acts finished, and Coldplay finally started performing, it was such an amazing spectacle at Sun Bowl Stadium :D ! The excitement of the crowd and the magic of Coldplay filled the stadium :D ! It was in every sense "A Sky Full of Stars " :) ! Unfortunately, just like any other stadium , it was a zoo to get out! And because it seemed like Old Glory Road was the main way to exit, it took us at least 2 hours just to move 6 miles! Unless UTEP Sun Bowl can improve the traffic and crowd flow in the future, I'm not sure if we would return for a concert. But despite the challenges with getting in and out of a stadium, watching Coldplay for their "Music of the Spheres" tour was absolutely mesmerizing and captivating :D ! And truly an awesome experience we will always treasure and never forget :) !
