    stadium view from stands

visited el paso to see coldplay in concert & coldplay was amazing (i would give their performance 5 stars). the line getting into the stadium was absolutely crazy & we arrived there 2 hours after the official concert started. i had to use the restroom during the concert & the women's bathroom is underground with no circulation so it was very warm. the stadium itself was super unique with the rocks, so i enjoyed that!

Just recently saw a sold out Rebelde concert here and I did not know what to expect as I had never been on UTEP grounds or at the Sun Bowl. Traffic was beyond hectic and the madness started on the freeway. Traffic was backed up for miles and miles onto the I10. The stadium is situated in-between the mountains which I thought was super cool. We were dropped off at the bottom of the mountain and our legs were on fire. Keep in mind that the trek is uphill and you will get a good workout in. Once we made it up, we quickly saw the entrance and the lines were crazy long to get inside. It was so unorganized and people were cutting like no other. The lines are not marked so there were gaggles of people standing everywhere and cutting. It took us 45 minutes to get into the stadium. Once we were steps away from the entrance, we saw workers checking for bags and or prohibited items. The line we were in, was easy as he did not even check our bag and just let us walk through.. we sorta didn't feel safe after that. Once in, the craziness continued. We were lucky that our section was right near the entrance and we quickly pushed our way through the swarms of people. I think the concessions are also located here because there were lines everywhere and people were just trying to get through them to get to their seats. Hot mess. We found our section and row and people were sitting in our spots. They didn't scoot over so we stayed right next to them and as close as we could to our numbered spots. It's all bleacher seating so this was super uncomfortable. My back was killing me.... I had no idea they rented back rests and it was too late when I saw that some people had rented ones. The concert started a little over an hour late which was not an issue. By this time, our row was packed and there was no personal space up in there. Not sure if people who didn't belong in our row were had sat themselves there or what but it was bad. I did see a lot of confused people that did not know how to find their seats and I did not see any ushers or workers standing by to help. The concert was great and our view was good. The weather was perfect and it was nice and windy once the sun went away. This could've been a greater experience if and only the venue was a bit more organized and was able to handle a huge crowd like Fridays..

The Sun Bowl is a surprisingly good stadium, you get a very good view of the game from just about any section. It also provides scenic views of El Paso. Seating is comfortable, facilities are relatively clean, and concession stand food is generally good. The stadium is home of the UTEP Miners, so the quality of the game varies, butt for rivalry games the atmosphere is good. Also home to the annual Sun Bowl game, and the occasional concert.

The Sun Bowl Stadium, aka the Mineshaft, is awesome and one of a kind! No other stadium can claim they sit in the middle of a mountain, literally!! The views of the El Paso and Juarez, Mexico are reason to come along, never mind the great events that are hosted here. It's a large enough stadium to accommodate about 52,000 people yet there isn't really a bad seat in the entire stadium. There has been a couple of upgrades to the place and the jumbo screen has been nicely upgraded. The score board has also been upgraded and it really makes it all come together. Heck, even the play clock was upgraded and I can't imagine how you can't get a play off quick enough now! Football games are awesome and the stadium hosts a variety of the typical stadium food you'd expect, but there are other minor restaurant eateries as well. Food is the typical price you'd expect from a stadium but on item I would highly recommend is the kettle corn popcorn! The kettle corn is absolutely reason alone to go to any event here or at the Bear's Den. I'm not sure what it is about it but it is really delicious and there's nothing better than getting a popped kernel loaded with butter and sugar! I buy the big bag and have plenty to take home and last me another couple of weeks...until it's time to return to buy more! Parking can be an issue and it's kind of difficult to find a spot where you won't get ticketed or towed away since it's located in the hub of things on Mesa Street. The new Brio bus stations stop really close by so maybe I'll try catching it and see how it goes. Overall, where else can you go to see a great event while enjoying the outdoors, and taking in great views of the entire area!

We brought my wife, our two small dogs, and our 11-month-old baby, and the entire visit exceeded expectations. The staff was incredibly friendly, polite, and courteous from the moment we arrived. The facilities were very clean and well-maintained, which made the experience even more enjoyable. One thing that really stood out was the nursing room with A/C -- it was perfect for when our baby started getting too warm. Snack prices were reasonable, and there were tons of great options to choose from. The water park area was also a huge hit and a great way to cool down, especially during the warmer weather. Overall, we had a fantastic family-friendly experience and highly recommend attending, especially for Bark at the Park. We'll definitely be back!

Great experience at Southwest University Stadium…read more We dropped in for a Chihuahua 's game. The line started up at 5pm for 6:35 game. They don't allow items inside the stadium, so check what you can bring on their website before you go Parking is available, but we parked at UTEP and took the EP Streetcar in. We got our tickets online, but you could get them at the box office. Look for discounted tickets! There are plenty of free gifts and theme nights. We enjoyed the fireworks! They have plenty of food inside. From hot dogs, nachos, frutas locas, kettle corn and vendors like noodles, pizza, etc. Plenty of beers. The stadium is kid friendly, and there is Chico way...out in the outfield with a splash pad and the lawn. Authentic Chihui gear is available here...it isn't cheap, but it's available to support your team. It was fun, and we will be back plenty of times this season to support our Chihuahuas.

I really liked how it was so easy to find and park at the adjacent parking structure. Parking was $20 for this event. My sister had told me about this venue before because she watched the Trans-Siberian Orchestra here a few years ago and loved it :D ! I forgot to check online regarding their bag policy. So it wasn't until I got up there near the entrance that an employee informed me that my Kipling crossbody bag was too big and pointed out their clear bag policy. So I had to leave my crossbody bag in my car, and just carry my wallet with my driver's license, some credit cards and cash. I'll remember to bring my clear bags the next time I come here. Customer service was excellent :D ! All the employees checking us through security were really courteous and friendly :) ! And even the vendors selling food and snacks inside were really courteous and friendly :) ! I just bought a hot dog once I got in, and also a fruit arrangement with tajin and lemon juice :) ! The kettle corn line was super long! But I could see why! The kettle corn itself was so hot and fresh :D ! Carrie Underwood sang and performed so amazingly and beautifully with her stellar powerhouse vocals :D !! I have followed her ever since her humble beginnings and early days on American Idol and she was phenomenal :D!! I still have her original debut album "Some Hearts" all the way back from 2005 on CD :D ! I felt like all of El Paso came together just to see her perform for that one night only :) ! LOL :D ! I would definitely come here again to watch concerts or sports games :) ! It's a very spirited and energized entertainment and sports venue in the heart of El Paso :D !

They had a concession stand offering drinks and snacks as well. I saw a couple alcohol options as well as the standard water and fountain drinks. For snacks I think they had nachos but not sure what else. One thing I will mention is they did not allow re-entry. My husband and I had purchased concert apparel and wanted to wear it right away, sucked that we couldn't go put our clothes in the car and come back. But other than that it's a pretty decent venue. My husband was more familiar with Tracy Lawrence though, so he especially enjoyed that more. Loved how generally close all the seats are, even in the farthest section. The seats were pretty bunch up together tho so my husband who's almost 6 feet tall almost didnt have enough leg room. Wish we had attended the pre-party session as that may have contributed more to the whole idea of a festival. I was hoping the main event that started at 730 would still have more vendors and activities going on but it was only the performers. Which was still fun though. Loved the food trucks they had going on too. I for got which one it was but it was the last one on line. They had a seafood soup that you can add tortilla chips or crackers to and it was amaze balls! Just what i needed this chilly night. Of course, the coliseum had their own typical stadium food which most was reasonably priced, especially for stadium food. Pretzels with cheese dip and nachos with jalapenos were awesome! Wine coolers were good too but too fizzy. All in all, great night and great employees who were very helpful to find your seats and what not. Thank you Yelp!!
