Amazing dinner last night! I'm on the Keto Diet and they were more than accommodating and didn't make me feel weird about my order. I loved every bite and even had extra to take home. I had the brisket sandwich, no bun and a side of asparagus. My sister ordered the Mac and cheese and the club sandwich. We both loved our server and our food. Fun environment, good food. Stopped on our way home from Michigan to Kentucky for lunch after asking for restaurant suggestions in cold water and being told applebees was the best spot in town. The dining room was fairly full so we sat at the bar area. The lunch special was the jambalaya and all three of us wanted to try it so we ordered it as an app to share. The blackened shrimp were juicy and cooked perfect the risotto was rich and flavorful. I got the steak salad as my dish, I ordered the steak rare and it was cooked perfectly. My only gripe is that the salad could have used more fresh veggies and less fired components, next time I may just add steak to another salad. The pecan crusted chicken salad was what my boyfriends brother got, chicken came out piping hot and was tasty. My boyfriend got the cod sandwich and a side salad both also tasty. Received two different cuts of Cod- Broiled and Blackened. The Blackened is best. Overall meal was good.

I start to drool when thinking about the breadsticks at this place.. they are unlimited and are served at the beginning of the meal. They are sweet and buttery and so yum!! My meal was also exquisite! Got the pan fried fish with macaroni and a Caesar salad and it all hit the spot. Our waiter was very nice, too, and the atmosphere was pretty cool. Don Hall's has the best prime rib, truly, of all I've ever tried. And here you add in the old-world ambiance, easy parking, plentiful seating and ability to make a reservation, and it's all a winning combination. Our most recent visit was on a Sunday a couple weeks ago for lunch. We all had the prime rib, and everything was perfect. The sides are always good, too, especially the sauteed mushrooms and onion rings, and you can get a perfectly made Manhattan, which is a lost art for many of today's bartenders. I look forward to every time I'm in Fort Wayne, so we can visit Gas House while we're there. read more

I had the 16 oz prime rib--cooked perfectly and minimal fat/gristle. Included a dinner salad and side (creamed spinach and sauteed mushrooms) Had to take some home, so no room for dessert, but if I did, it would probably have been creme brulee. The bar has a great ambiance and the rest of the dining room is long and narrow but there is ample space for all the tables. I absolutely love their bread. We stopped here earlier this week for lunch. It was an absolute delight we enjoyed the small plate with a small wedge salad and incredible blue cheese. Very disappointed with the food and the service me and my family chose to eat at Don Hall's gas House after me and my husband got married on the lawn of the courthouse Friday evening the 23rd. I ordered the prime rib it was tough we all got asparagus with hollandaise sauce it was terrible it was soggy and my husband ordered the stuffed chicken and he was not pleased with it at all. It was a really interesting location. Part of my party felt as if they had to lean to get to the table. Everything tilted downward. As you look, you can see that it's on a hill. Food was prompt and hot. The description said, "good for kids," but my 9 year old fairly adventurous eater struggled with options. She ended up with chicken noodle soup and a summer salad with strawberries, dried cherries and walnuts. Pepsi products. No sweet tea, except for the raspberry kind. I had a burger. We came here on a night out with friends, and I ended up having mixed feelings about it. The ambiance of the place was really awesome. Our server was friendly and helpful and our drinks were perfect. We had all ordered steaks, each either medium or medium rare. When they came out they were all super well done. A little disappointing. I am not one to typically complain, but with four steaks all cooked wrong, we had to bring it up. We got our waitresses attention and she immediately got her manager, who seemed surprised that we wanted the steaks replaced or comped. It was kind of awkward. They ended up bringing new steaks out and they were perfect the second time around. The only other thing that detracted from this place for me was the carriage rides offered outside -- but that is more of a personal opinion that a true validated one. In all, I still think they still deserve 3.5 to 4 stars. I would be willing give them another chance to knocked my socks off. The place is too cool inside to write off all together. read more

I have been going to The Gas House since I was young and it has always been my favorite place to go out to eat in Fort Wayne. I am actually very sad that for my last visit, I can only give two stars. The service was decent, although it could have been better. I was given a dirty fork, and when I brought it to their attention, it was thrown into the dish tray like it was no big deal that it had been given to a customer. I realize that martinis can be tricky to make but I ordered a slightly dirty martini and I think he dumped olive jar into it because it was far from slightly dirty and the texture of the olives was almost rubbery. The cream spinach not only had onions in it, it was slightly pasty tasting and the prime rib was decent but again, I have had FAR better at this restaurant. Very disappointing night. read more

The mushrooms were canned and the potatoes tasted like frozen potatoes. Tasted grainy. Ordered drinks that were strong and fantastic. There are 2 places to get seated make sure if you want to eat you go to the right area to be seated if not you will only be allowed to have cocktails. Due to the long wait (COVID social distancing) we decided to dine inside. Nice atmosphere, friendly server and good food. We had tenderloin sliders, wedge salad (just ok) jambalaya and crab cakes. Today I was feeling the need for comfort food. Life has a way of forcing us to chill, take stock, refocus and then reset. Needing comfort food and being in downtown FtW just don't match. You can have trendy, quick, easy, semi gourmet meals, but comfort, there's not much to choose from. That's immediately when I thought of Halls Guesthouse. I stopped in the Guesthouse shortly after 1pm and it was still pretty packed. I quickly noticed the patio near the entrance and the beautiful door. I was at this point reassured I'd made the best choice. I walked in and a lovely young woman with a quick smile helped me right away. I told her I was in need of a comfort meal and she said "I know, it's the weather". I chose the Spicy Gumbo, there's no picture because I wasted no time eating my bowl of comfort soup. It was spicy delicious goodness. The soup was full of flavor with just the right about of broth/rice/shrimp mixture. It was everything I needed at that moment by way of food. The ambiance at the Guesthouse of packed with a rustic charm. A throwback to a true dining and relaxing environment.
