Ordered pizza well in advance for a big group. One guest suggested Domino's might be a bad idea because of unreliable/ late delivery. I stuck with Domino's, then had to admit the guest was right. Pizzas were supposed to arrive at 6:00. At 6:20, I called Domino's, and the manager, Scott, said it was on the way, just running late. At 7:00, I called again. Scott said the pizza had been delivered to the correct address--perhaps it had been stolen? Our porch camera said no. Now it's 7:10, people are leaving because hungry kids. I told Scott we should get our order free, which seemed entirely reasonable. He said no way, but said I could put in a new order, which might be there in another half hour, and that he would 'make it right' by throwing in an order of $6.99 cheesy bread, all arriving at 7:40. I called the dominos on 23rd about a concern about their drivers. The manager hung up on me mid sentence. I called this one about the same thing and the manager was much more pleasent to speak to. Serving starving college students for decades, and employing starving college students for decades as delivery drivers. Shouldn't that be their motto? Hey, it's why I'm not employed in a marketing field. Ya know, sometimes ya need to Taco Bell, or Wendy's, or Domino's pizza. Always solid, not particularly the greatest (but that's not a complaint), but hey, it's Lawrence, Kansas, not Brooklyn or New York City. And damn affordable, thank you. It's good pizza for us midwesterners, and yesterday an upsized version of their ExtravaganZZa was acquired at the store in person for delivery to the country for a proper social distancing get together with a couple of friends outside in the country over glasses of red vino and beers + a fire pit. Sweet! Let me tell you, Domino's has their collective, er, pie together for ordering online. Couldn't be easier, couldn't be simpler, payment and all. I walk in the door and the place is all professionally humming, everyone masked, gloved and sneeze guards in place where you pay. Young worker comes over, looks at tickets, points at me and says my name, asks me if that's right. Repeats my order, I drop a $5 tip and off I go. The way it should work. I love some of Lawrence's local pizza joints, but once in awhile I'm quite happy to toss some biz to these folks, and now that I've experiences how easy their online ordering is may do some good work and have some pies delivered to friends that aren't doing so well financially. Fast, delicious, hot, and filling - exactly what it should be. The few staff encounters I've had were short but pleasant. Our food is regularly done noticeably faster than I expected. We've always gotten what we ordered, how we ordered, and enjoyed the experience thoroughly. Not to mention, it's an absolute dream if you've got a pregnant wife. Craving a mushroom pizza? This review is for their delivery. The first time I had them, they took about an hour to arrive. However, it was probably at a busy time, so that is understandable. Every time I ordered after that, the wait was about 20-30 minutes. Their app for ordering is very easy to use. I have always used the app to order. Unfortunately, however, I can't just select straight pepperoni. I always have to go to toppings, then add meats, then pepperoni. It would be nice to be able to do that without having to "build your own pizza," because pepperoni only is probably a very popular choice. read more

I order from Dominos at least once a week without fail (sometimes more, don't judge me ;) ) A system glitch with our last order left us without pizza & then when it finally was taken care of, another issue caused us to be unable to tip the driver because there was no credit card slip for me to sign. The area Supervisor, Andrew, reached out via email and EVERYTHING was cleared up right away. I have been purchasing pies from Domino's for over 12 years at it's current location.....that location is now under renovation and a new and even better 2nd Domino's is open at 1008 W 23rd St (Lawrence); (785) 856-2510. I (we) only get pies and are particularly fond of the two topic, two medium sized pizza deal which they have in effect at all times. Yes, Domino's is a huge, corporate run outfit. However, the one here in Lawrence is a small franchise operation which pays great attention to detail and is very interested in your individual feedback. They want your repeat business, and they sure have earned mine (ours). We like our pies built OUR way; we even state over the phone that we'll send the pies back if they don't meet the criteria. It took about six orders before everybody got everything correct. (We like a lot of sauce). We sent back the pies which weren't up to our needs. There was never a complaint or excuse provided. Nope. Instead, two rebuilt pies were dispatched forthwith. I've (we've) had a great relationship with this small franchise operation ever since. They're beyond friendly, and even fun when phoning in an order. They go out of their way to get it right. The portion size of the toppings one orders is abundant.....one doesn't have to go searching for the onions or the green peppers....they're right there in front of you and a more than "fair" amount supplied. I've (we've) learned, if you yourself take a little bit of time and actually communicate with the manager as to how you want your pie, he'll go out of his way to make certain he meets your needs. And there's the key to success: Don't be afraid to phone them and discuss how you want you your pie built. They're in the dark if you don't tell them. It may take them a time or two to get it built exactly as you desire, but they'll get it done. Pick up the phone and describe how much sauce you want; pick up the phone and discuss what you believe is a fair amount of whatever topping you're feeling "shorted" on.....they'll go out of their way to facilitate your needs. The pies always arrive piping hot and ready to be consumed. Just because they're Domino's doesn't mean you're purchasing a McDonald's style burger: The sauce is great; the toppings fresh and abundant; the staff more than willing to work with you.....but do first interact with the manager so he can alert his/her staff. There are only like 10,000 pizza pie outfits in Lawrence, Kansas. I've been to most, if not all of them and bluntly, Domino's wins hands down. I don't care if it is a chain. I know what tastes good to be and what a good deal is. So many "pizza snobs" in Lawrence who are only throwing their money away when it's all said and done. Build a relationship with this franchise and you won't be dissatisfied....to the contrary....you'll wonder why you didn't do it sooner. If you're a pizza expert, you'll see what this reviewer is writing about relative to the Lawrence, Kansas Domino's franchise is 100% fact. Too, if there ever is a problem (it can happen....when they're slammed comes to mind), again, get on the phone and discuss the issue. Truth be told, you can even go onto the Domino's web site and write down what the "problem" was and you'll hear back from the franchise operation within a day or two who, I assure you, will make it all good. They're good people with a great product. You're cheating yourself if you don't give it a try. (Should you experience a problem, the first thing to do is call the store right after the delivery. This happened at 9:30 on December 30th, 2017. I asked for marinara on the side twice within 2 weeks of orders. It turns out they didn't come by with either, so we asked if there was a way we could reciever the marinara. The employee sounded like he was new, so I informed the manager. The manager decides to tell me that making sure marinara comes with an order is my responsibility and that he checks his order every time he orders from a restaurant. He then tells me it will take an extra 30 minutes. I said it wasn't my fault, and that I should at least get a soda or a new order due to the fact that it's cold. He was rude back. this is the 2nd time an order has taken over 30min for us to get our food After it left the store (not after ordered ~ this is on top of 25min or so for it to be made & the tracker originally listed 25-30 min *total* expected wait time)! this time i called 20min after it left the store & was told to wait 15 More min then call back & they would remake the order if it hadnt been delivered (so wait to reorder until over an hour after the original order, time to make & delivery would be at least 90min before eating was their answer) i told them my son couldn't wait that long but that i'd consider my options for the next 10min. still no delivery so i called back & asked to speak with the manager who (begrudgingly) said he'd call the driver & find out where he was when i responded to his excuse that "dinner time takes longer" that my son had been watching the tracker & waiting for 30min since it was supposed to have left (we would get a longer wait time to cook/etc but over half an hour After it Left the store?!)! i assumed he meant while i waited on the phone, but he hung up on me. then the driver Finally called to ask where my apt was (it's not hard & google maps provides accurate directions to it) the manager Never called back i understand things get busy & drivers get lost sometimes, but for a kid to wait 30min After it's left & not even get a call to let us know their lost until after my 2nd phone call & then do *nothing* for "customer satisfaction" is ridiculous! this is a college town so i'm sure they'll have plenty of business, but i sure as heck will warn every person i meet ~ *esp* families, we'll stick with pizza shuttle from now on! read more
