    The floating island
    Miguel M.

I really propose to the Michelin inspectors to take a deep look to this French incredible restaurant. Every time we have our weekend dinner here is a special culinary experience. It's like a joint in St. Germain in Paris, with one of the most creative menus ever!!! Their specials every week give you the opportunity of indulge yourself in the most adventurous experience in flavors, textures and smells. And due to the fact that portions are generous, me and my wife can share the hearty enthusiasm!!! Tonight we begun with a delicious version of a sardine kind of pate... the we had an iceberg salad that for me is the best of the best and as our main entre... pork medallions in a delicious unique sauce of mushrooms, pepper and wine... out of this world and at the end my wife's favorite the floating island, by the way this is a SIN... and the service by everyone in there is nothing lower than excellent!! From the welcoming at the door to the good by everyone single minute there is a pleasure!!! Don't miss the opportunity to enjoy Dominique's!!!

I came here years ago when my family lived in the area, but haven't been back since last week! Service is amazing, they are friendly, attentive, and accommodating since I had my baby with me. But the food is top tier! Flavors are fantastic and portions are unbelievable for a French restaurant. I hope they never change because that is extremely difficult to find these days. PAN SEARED SOLE FILLET: I got this exact dish over 6 years ago and it's might even be better than before. The sole is so flaky and cooked perfectly. The spinach and wild rice accompany the fish well and the lemony butter sauce is chefs kiss! No complaints 5/5 ESCARGOT: The bread chunks provided are nicely toasted so that you can dip it in the herby butter coating the escargot. Escargot is also well prepared and wasn't chewy at all. Highly suggest making reservations because they do fill up and also just a note that their private parking lot has less than 10 spaces.

"The food was out of this world! Definitely call ahead and make reservations--the moment you take that first bite, you'll feel like you've gone straight back to France . The service was okay, but the experience and flavors more than made up for it. Relaxed, chill atmosphere. I'm definitely coming back."

The specials were amazing. The attention to detail is unlike any other place in the South Bay.

Wow what a treat! This place was definitely an unexpected treat. Came here with family and friends to try a new spot out and it did not disappoint. The inside was dim and intimate like we were gathering in a cottage. The food was spectacular and I mean SPECTACULAR!

Ordered the french onion soup, sole, beef bourgenoin, and agnolottis. Everything was so good! The atmosphere of the place was stunning and super cozy as well. Good service too.

Friends in South Bay discovered this gem during Covid through Dominiques takeout menu. They have been raving about the Beouf Bourguignon and I finally made it in house! It's a cozy atmosphered neighborhood spot. Decent non-exorbitant wine selection and large portioned dishes! It was perfect for a dinner with friends who like to eat family style and share. And we had plenty of leftovers for lunch the next day. I enjoyed the escargot and the sardine spread. Snagged the last lobster & crab agnolotti and with gracious friends had bites of the sole and beouf bourginon which were good. It felt like having amazing food at your French grandma/aunties/parents' house. French fine dining for me has plateaued so having this type of French family kitchen and French bistro cuisine was amazing. Good quality ingredients, refined basics through experience and just hearty cooking. The service was friendly and nice. I think they had one server for the whole place (its small and cozy) but can be overbearing. It's just that type of vibe where you just go with it. It is was a fine dining pre fixed paring type of place, may have been annoyed. But we just enjoyed the hearty warm atmosphere and the bottles of Sancerre Rouge helped us in a gracious and laughing mood.

A really quaint and delicious French restaurant in Redondo Beach. I stopped in for my first time this past weekend and was really impressed with my dinner. The food quality was great and the menu had a ton of great options on it. They do have a small parking lot attached otherwise it will be street parking. Our waiter was also very polite and it was very lively during our 7 PM dinner visit. The portion sizes are very large here so factor that in to your choices. I would classify this more as a French bistro in that it is casual and has a lot of great French comfort food options. We started off with a Country Pâté and thought it was great. It was very smooth and the bread with it really added to the flavor combination. Next, we shared the Beet Salad, which was gigantic, but had some really nice flavors. It was full of beets and feta so I wasn't complaining, but it could be split between four people it's that large. Finally for my entree I chose the Pan Seared Sole and thought it was fantastic. The butter sauce on top was extremely sweet but in a good way. I also liked the black rice on the side to soak up the sauce and I ate every bit of it. We wanted to order dessert but by the end of the meal we were both pretty full. I would recommend to anyone in the area or to anyone searching for a great French dinner option.

My fav restaurant! Ever have a place that you can't wait to get back to? Mom looked at me and said "Why don't we come here more often?!" Amazing food, wonderful staff (good job Jackson!) and a nice intimacy combine to make this a MUST if you are a foodie in the South Bay. Soooo good...

Can't believe we having been driving by this bistro for 13 years and have not tried it! The service was impeccable. Decor a modern take on French farmhouse. And the food.... From the French Onion Soup, wedge salad, beef bourguignon, Provencale Lamb to our chocolate mousse and "floating island' dessert- everything was amazingly delicious! Will definitely be back!

I've been wanting to come here for years. The lamb chops were delicious and so tender. I was raving about it at almost every bite. My wife got the halibut special and she shared me a few bites, and it was so good. The service was exceptional and the atmosphere and ambiance was amazing, as we shared a love seat for our dinner. Dinner at a restaurant that isn't part of a big chain was unique and refreshing.

Brutal experience. Be warned: No cocktails. Wine or beer only. Server had a major attitude. One must put in ALL of their food requests at once. Never heard of such a thing. Was too intimidated to let her know the wine was clearly off. I had more because I was too afraid to complain about both the food and the wine .. and had to get through the entire evening which was important to us all. Woke up feeling like death. The seafood risotto was inedible. My husband was starving so managed to eat more but was terribly ill today. The risotto was plated like someone vomited on a plate. Note the picture. Gross.

Came here for my company holiday dinner and the food was very good! Reminded me of my trip to Paris a few months back! This place gave fancy French cuisine vibes but at the same time very homey, cozy, and holiday spirited. Dim lighting too. First we had cocktail hour and started off with drinks I ordered sangria (fruity red wine) this was yummy! There were liver paste with jam on cracker (my favorite) cheese fondue and other appetizers. The waiters and waitresses gave such wonderful service always looking out for the guests. I liked the slower paced schedule of the food coming out, because there was a lot of food but there was enough time in between to digest down the food before the next. On the cheese platter the danish blue cheese soo good with nuts and dried fruit! The lobster bisque and beef bourguignon with creamy potatoes chefs kiss, and they were very artistically presented, in awe of French cuisine. We finished off with crème brûlée and macaroons and other creamy sweets! Would like to take my fiance here for a romantic date night!

Hi Liza. I read a review about your amazing bouillabaisse. Can I request bouillabaisse (I booked for Friday 12/27)?

Not on regular menu. Usually during Bastille day we have it.

Is there a private dining room with a TV for projecting a powerpoint? How quiet is the room for doing a dinner seminar on a Tuesday or Thursday night?

This is definitely the wrong restaurant for this. It is small and intimate. Try Bluewater Grill, Cheescake factory, H T Grill.

Do you still allow people to bring own bottles? How much is your corkage?

Currently it is $26 for a standard bottle

Is there a private room for parties?

You can reserve the whole space or just the front room. It's wonderful for an intimate gathering.

    Are they permanently closed?

We were on vacation, back open on 5/4/23

Does this restaurant still have Baked Alaska? I totally watched the latest Masterchef episode with Baked Alaska and I'd love to try it, but I don't see any recent pictures with it here.

We used to have ir on our menu but nit anymore. It may come back in the future.

Is this place open again? The website says they're taking a break through 7/1/22?

Not sure what you mean by again.... It has been a French Restaurant for decades, but the owner and chef has changed a few times. Dominique's Kitchen is open for business.

How much is the corkage fee?

    $15

Do they require proof of vaccination?

No they do not! They require masks. They do social distancing.

What is the menu for New Years Eve?

Happy holidays! The menu's posted on the restaurant website: http://dominiqueskitchen.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/newyears-eve2019.jpeg.

I am interested to know if anyone has dined on the enclosed patio in the winter? I am planning a large group dinner in December and the patio is the only option. I am worried we will be cold. Can anyone offer any insights?…

Actually it is quite nice and comfortable. One of my favorite restaurants in the South Bay!!

Is there regular drinks available such as coca cola or juice? Or are there only alcoholic drinks?

Yes, menu says regular and Diet Coke... see wine menu.

    I have a resv on 5/26. Does Dominique's allow corkage?…

I believe it's $15.00 but you might want to double check.

I sat outdoors and listened to the sound of the water wall fountain installation. Large selection of varying French pastries and desserts that look absolutely scrumptious. This includes croissants, cookies, tarts, macaroons, cakes, pate, cheeses, quiches, brioches, etc. There was an open menu/book with pictures of the food on the counter. They offer many options. It was difficult to decide, but I finally decided and ordered an avocado toast and small latte. Because there was only one other person there, the lady behind the counter said she would find me, which she did. She delivered my drink first. Afterwards, she personally delivered my avocado toast with a side salad, served on a wooden chopping block. It all looked good. Well presented. From the first bite of my avocado toast, it was delicious because of the freshly baked bread. A nice, thick dark bread. It was piled on with freshly chopped avocados that kept falling off the bread, topped with pickled radish, tomatoes, and pine nuts. Parking: There's plenty of free, shared lot parking in the back.

The restaurant has inside seating for 40 guests and outside for 30. We arrived between breakfast and lunchtime and were able to get the last outside table. The attentive staff got us seated right away, and after browsing through their menu, we ordered the following items (arrived in 15 minutes) : Marine: The buckwheat outer layer was soft, not soggy, and with nice resistance. The light creamy tomato-based dressing with sliced mushrooms was pleasantly flavorful. Both shrimp and scallops were of good size, fresh and juicy. Fromage: Like Marine Crepe, the buckwheat out layer was soft. The mild brie cheese provided pleasant creaminess to the filling. Seasoned bacon, scrambled egg, onion, and mushroom added nice savoriness to the dish. The portions were sensible and the prices were reasonable. Very nice culinary experience.

Like most French bistro they have a shorter but traditional menu, with the usual suspects - onion soup, pate, escargot, charcuterie board, mussels, steak frites, Bouillabaisse - but what drew us in was the duck confit cassoulet. We have eaten cassoulet in Carcasonne, the home of cassoulet, and this was definitely worthy of the name. Gamey, savoury, duck falling off the bone, beans swimming in an umami broth, definitely lip lickingly good. However the vegetarian cassoulet was not as flavourful, it was nice, but needed more garlic, pepper, some herbs or seasoning, a little more oomph. The fennel was delish, but the beans bordering on bland and there was very little broth to dip my baguette into. With a belly full of beans we decided to order dessert because why not! Life is short, eat dessert, c'est la vie. Creme brulee was creamy with a tappingly good sugar crust, and the chocolate mousse had a nice consistency but was overwhelmed by cinnamon, which was a pity. It was definitely worth the visit for the Duck cassoulet, and we will visit again to try the onion soup and moules.
