For years, there's been a crack that causes water to leak out and flow into the street however in 2014, the opening week, a section of the pool collapsed and sank a couple of inches. Patrons keep stubbing their toes and/or cutting their toes on the edge of the cracks. I was surprised this was not identified or fixed before opening the pool. Historically, the pool has had problems finding lifeguards who were focused on the safety of the patrons. Many parents would have to complain to the pool board before they would address our concerns about the guards goofing off and/or not even watching the pool. This years guards mostly came back from last year and under the current Pool Manager's guidance, I think we will have a nice, SAFE summer! This is the best group of guards I can remember in 12 years. If the Pool Board were to invest in the repairs of the pool and make it physically safe for the patrons and not literally wastefully pouring 100s of gallons of water out, I would immediately increase the number of stars on my rating for them.

When you pull in, there's a few tennis courts in great condition. There's a nice covered area where they were doing concessions doing the swim meet, but would be a nice place to sit during normal hours. I also appreciated that they had a huge fridge for members to use to store their things during their visits. I wish our pool had that! One entire side of the pool has stadium seating - long wood rows for you to watch the swim meet. The rows are a bit narrow so they're tight when you're trying to pass someone, but it's a really nice touch. Whoever designed this pool has been to a lot of swim meets and was thinking about spectators. :) There's also a nice shady patio behind the stadium seating, as well as a volleyball court on sand. And because I know you're wondering, there is public WiFi - you just need the code to get in.

They have two separate courts; a bigger one on the higher level that has two on it and the smaller one on the lower level that has one, so it's really a great facility where you can have a lot of people playing at once. There's also a little tennis building with a covered cabana area that offers tables & a lot of seating where parents or friends and family can sit and relax while they wait, and a smaller waiting area between the two courts. If you prefer to stay active while you wait, the grounds are connected to many trails that you can go walk or run on. I genuinely enjoy this facility and wanted to share some feedback regarding the current pool safety…read morepolicy, specifically the requirement that children under 48 inches remain within arm's length of a parent or guardian in the toddler pool area. While I appreciate the facility's commitment to safety, I believe this policy may benefit from review in certain circumstances. My five-year-old is slightly under 48 inches tall and is a capable swimmer but he was still given a yellow bracelet because of his height. During our recent visit, a staff member (she seemed to be the one in charge) told us about the arm's length requirement while my son was playing in the shallow toddler pool area, which only reaches ankle depth. I fully support close supervision requirements in deeper water or for infants and young toddlers. However, the current policy creates some practical challenges in the toddler pool area: 1. The shallow depth of the toddler pool presents minimal risk for older children who can swim. 2. Multiple parents attempting to maintain arm's length proximity in a confined space leads to congestion and difficulty navigating around one another. Which can make things even more difficult trying to keep an eye on your child and your child's constant movement when you have a parent in front of you trying to keep an eye on their child. 3. The policy becomes impossible to enforce when children use the toddler play structure and mini slides, where parents cannot physically maintain arm's length distance. Maybe some parents can fit going up the structure, but we certainly cannot fit going down the slide. We would have to go back down the steps of the play structure and then try to get to our child who most certainly is farther away from us because kids do not sit still. I believe a modified policy that considers both the child's swimming ability and the water depth would better serve families while maintaining appropriate safety standards. Perhaps children who demonstrate swimming competency could be permitted greater independence in ankle-deep water, while maintaining stricter supervision requirements in deeper areas.

One -- I strongly advise customers to check hours and lane/pool access and availability as local…read moreschool swim teams and swimming lessons dominate the usage of this facility. Sadly, there are not always lanes for the general public (taxpayers) to swim. Also, pay beforehand (see link) on the aquatic center's website to secure admission to a lane. https://anc.apm.activecommunities.com/pwcsaquatics/activity/search?onlineSiteId=0&activity_select_param=2&activity_category_ids=29&viewMode=list The last two times our family used this facility, swimming lanes, advertised as open or available, were closed (management decided to close the slide an hour early on a Sunday even though kids were using it). I assume because of low usage, the two lifeguards monitoring the slide were needed elsewhere. All competitive lanes were closed for swimming even though they were advertised as open online. :( I have yet to see the diving boards used as they appear to be permanently shut down. Also, please, be very careful when you come and go. Every single time I have been there, someone has slipped and/or fallen on the facility's wet floors in the entryway. No cash is accepted...you will need to pay electronically. Lap swimming (link) is available by reservation only Monday - Thursday (drop-ins are permitted on a space-available basis but be aware that the lane you pay for may be shared with another swimmer). Reservations are not accepted or required Friday - Sunday (drop-ins only) - Most recent hours of operation (link), but call or check their website for additional closures. Closures and Special Hours: The leisure (kiddy) pool and slide is only open from 12-5 on Saturdays and Sundays, and swimming lanes are available w/o a reservation on Fridays...but I would double-check before you make plans. https://www.pwcs.edu/operations/aquatics/index or (571) 374-6333 or email aquatics@pwcs.edu Winter schedule matrix - Link below: https://www.pwcs.edu/operations/aquatics/fees/winter_2024-25_lane_availability_-_11-18-24.pdf
