Had a great time visiting this community pool with friends who are members. There is also a separate kid play area with one of those waterfall mushrooms/umbrellas. They also have an astro turf playground and a basketball court in addition to plenty of picnic areas and large bathrooms with showers/changing areas. The life guards also enforce a 15 minute adults only time in the main pool at quarter of each hour. Our friend's son participates in their swim lessons and for $20, you get a one-on-one session with a lifeguard for 30 minutes. The price seems pretty reasonable to me for this area and her son has become a much more confident swimmer over the past month. We had a relaxing experience in the sun and water with our friends. Definitely recommend this location to others.

I've been coming here all summer for it's one saving grace: four 25-yard lap lanes, which rarely get too crowded. But I've found myself coming here less and less because I end up getting annoyed by the staff of teenagers who clown around so much you wonder if they're even getting paid to be here. I've literally watched them throw each other into the lap lanes where people are swimming and kick around a ball that repeatedly ends up in said lap lanes. I don't expect teenage lifeguards to be uber-professional, but I do expect them to act like they're at a job. It's not like $3/visit is much, but the fact that people pay to use this pool warrants some degree of order for crying out loud. I won't say much about the people who patronize this pool, but you can imagine how out of control this place can get if the staff is full of clowns. The pool itself isn't bad, although I'm not sure it's vacuumed more than a couple of times a week based on the crap I've seen collecting in the bottom. Today I actually saw a cockroach chilling on one of the lane dividers, if that gives you an idea of how seriously cleanliness is taken here. This pool has so much potential to be an oasis in the summer, and if it weren't so convenient I wouldn't come here at all. It's worth a few minutes in the car to head up to the DC pool at East Potomac, which is a Roman bath house compared to this place.

What is doesn't...scheduling. Whether you like it or not, their swim team gets priority at this pool. The last few years the swim/dive program has become a major priority for this pool. Practices not only take up a chunk of real estate (4+ lanes & the diving area) for some of the busiest times at the pool (3-7ish). That's just for the practices, not to mention the swim meets... So when you get home from work/school/where ever, the sun's out & you just want to enjoy the pool. Don't hold your breath, it'll be like rush hour, on the metro, during a track delay.

There a lot of social activities (float nights, water aerobics, trivia and movie nights, a chili cookoff, and the most family-friendly and best flamingo party by far), and one of the club members volunteers as our local DJ--he is fantastic! It's so nice to not have to cook two evenings in summer. Wednesdays the grill is fired up with hamburgers (usually $3) and hotdogs (usually $2) along with chicken, tacos, or brisket, depending on the night; Fridays we have a food truck come. The snack shack has health options and probably more selection than some larger neighborhood pools. My kids (now 9 and 12) practically live at the pool all summer long. It's great that the older teens and younger kids (even at 6 and 7) all play together--volleyball, foosball, jenga. It really builds a sense of a village. And it's been fun watching kids who were in elementary school when we joined now be lifeguards. The tween/teen swim team members teach the littles (3+) to swim through our Little Flippers Program, which is ridiculously inexpensive! Both of my kids are graduates of that program. There is a lot of shade during the day which is great for a break from the bright sun. The price may be shocking, but it is well worth it.

There is lots of shade in the late afternoon and early evenings. The swim team is very active for about 6 weeks, but otherwise, the deck can be very quiet and relaxing. They offer adult workouts for a small fee in the early mornings on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and Adult only swim on Sunday morning from 9-11am. They offer fun events like family bingo, float nights and movies, food trucks and parties if you like to socialize. They even offer yoga on the deck some Sunday mornings. Lots of families with kids and the members are all very friendly. Membership fee includes the entire family in your house, and even allows you to bring your Nanny to watch the kids during the day if you work.

When you pull in, there's a few tennis courts in great condition. There's a nice covered area where they were doing concessions doing the swim meet, but would be a nice place to sit during normal hours. I also appreciated that they had a huge fridge for members to use to store their things during their visits. I wish our pool had that! One entire side of the pool has stadium seating - long wood rows for you to watch the swim meet. The rows are a bit narrow so they're tight when you're trying to pass someone, but it's a really nice touch. Whoever designed this pool has been to a lot of swim meets and was thinking about spectators. :) There's also a nice shady patio behind the stadium seating, as well as a volleyball court on sand. And because I know you're wondering, there is public WiFi - you just need the code to get in.

My son…read morehas been taking lessons here for a couple of years now and we love how it is hidden in the middle of the Wakefield Chapel neighborhood & surrounded by trees. They have two separate courts; a bigger one on the higher level that has two on it and the smaller one on the lower level that has one, so it's really a great facility where you can have a lot of people playing at once. There's also a little tennis building with a covered cabana area that offers tables & a lot of seating where parents or friends and family can sit and relax while they wait, and a smaller waiting area between the two courts. If you prefer to stay active while you wait, the grounds are connected to many trails that you can go walk or run on. Our neighborhood community pool has swam against this pool during swim season and it is also a beautiful facility.
