I've used the pool and the weight room here so that's what my review will focus on. The locker rooms are fine. The pool has a shallow end and a deep end. Unfortunately there are only a couple of lanes available in the deep end as the rest of the deep end is saved for things like water aerobics. The weight room was pretty disappointing. It was missing quite a bit of equipment I would expect in a weight room. I ended up choosing a different gym for my weight lifting, as I was constantly having to change my planned workout due to a lack of equipment. The pool is good though. read more

Great summer camps and Camp-Counselor-in-Training program. The kids have attended many various camps & swimming over the years and have since returned as a CIT, lots of fond memories of classes & long time staff/counselors. read more

I absolutely love this place! Can't believe that I've been living here for 20 yrs & just discovered how great the facilities are inside. We've taken our granddaughter to play in several outside areas but never went inside, until recently. I had pool therapy at Audrey Moore, then checked out Lee District. I joined in May. They have the largest jetted hot tub that I have been in in my entire life. The staff is friendly & clearly take pride in maintaining the facility. Plus, they have a cushioned soccer field so I can get my miles in walking around with little to no impact on my body. Highly recommend it!! read more

This review is solely for the birthday/event party planning. I started calling in May when looking to book a July party. I was told July would be ready to book June 1. But it wasn't. I called no less than 5 times, as after each call, the person on the phone said the calendar for July was not available yet and to call in a few days. After the 5th call and only a few days to get invitations out to kids at school, the phone-answerer told me speaking to a manager would be best. I got voicemail. Left a message, asked for a call back. Crickets. Frustrated, I called South Run and to my surprise, they had a form for me to fill out, I got to speak directly to the event coordinator, and she confirmed my booking right away. Easy and affordable. I understand that parties are scheduled around free swim hours and other classes. Awesome. As it should be. But how is there no calendar with less than 3 weeks before the start of a new month? That seems difficult for both employees and patrons. 6 weeks later, no one has returned my voicemail. I love this facility and we will still be frequent visitors, but if you want to book a pool party, perhaps choose a different rec center. read more

A great center for classes such as karate. I have improved my fitness level greatly by joining karate for families. Both kids and adults can attend the same class. The class is tailored to both beginners and advanced students. If you are just starting, You don't need to buy a uniform until you decide if the class is a match for your needs. Black belt level instructors teach each session and give you plenty of individual attention based on your athletic level and ability. The first part of class is generally a warm up and stretching followed by work on forms and self defense tactics. Each class is unique and a great overall workout! I highly recommend the martial arts courses. read more

Love the forest hiking areas and the volleyball courts. Fun for the entire family!! Spend the day or 30 minutes. Love the clean outdoors restrooms! read more

Came here for a birthday party, and want to return just for more fun! We got to enjoy some time in the soft playroom and got to see one of the party rooms as well -- I can see why this is a popular place for parties! I look forward to coming back to check out the playground and water park when it's A) warmer, and B) my baby can actually, like, play on those things, haha. Parking was plentiful and easy to find, thumbs up! read more

This Rec Centers Playground is fantastic for children ages 4-12. My daughter and son enjoyed themselves. If you plan on hosting a birthday party or any other event I recommend this Rec Center, there were various locations to entertain your guest including a Splash Park, Volleyball courts, basketball courts, and 2 big playgrounds for children. read more

We enrolled our baby daughter who was 6 months at the time in the Baby and Me classes. Their are 7 classes in total, 30 min each which seems short but is plenty of time. The classes go quick, activities alternating between forming a circle and singing a song and then learning or practicing different skills like paddling or kicking the legs. The instructor was quite competent. One of the big things that the babies learn is being submerged in water which was more worrisome for me and my husband. She cried the first time and tolerated the rest of the submersions. I think this is a great class to introduce water to your little one and for the parent to feel comfortable in interacting with the babes in water. It was often hard to tell whether she enjoyed the class. Tolerate would probably be the best word to describe her mood. It was sometimes hard to time the class just right to where she wasn't hungry or sleepy. read more

Pros: * GREAT, big pool. LOTS of lanes. * Lots of camps and classes. * Great playgrounds. Cons: * Expensive. $8/adult for drop-in swim; $14.50 for one adult and one child to swim (including if you're just standing in the shallow water with your toddler). * Membership specials typically for new members only (i.e., outside of a year), which excludes many. Memberships not cheap. * Toxic chemicals (like Formula 409) applied around the pool area and washed into the water, EVERY day. * Highly chlorinated water! Holy itchy nightmare. * Classes in the basketball gyms are cramped and squeezed by players before and after. read more

Lots of fun for kids at the "Our Special Harbor Sprayground". Free entry but limited number of people in at once. We've never experienced having to wait in line to get in, but have heard there can sometime be a lineup on a hot day! Employees are stationed at the entry/exit to make sure kids don't run out of the fenced area. Six family bathrooms / changing rooms are easy to access. Surrounding the splashpark are several playgrounds for various ages. The biggest hang-up here is the parking -- there's not enough of it, especially on Saturdays when birthday parties fill the pavilions and picnic areas. Go early and be prepared to circle to find a spot! read more

This is a hidden gem in southern Fairfax county. In addition to the Rec Center there is an indoor pool. There are tennis and beach volleyball courts. Adjacent is an accessible waterpark, playground and adventure area. Lots of walking and picnic areas and an outdoor amphitheater. Lots of multipurpose ball fields. Big parking lots. It is only a few blocks from Huntley Meadows nature and wildlife area. Great for the whole family including pets. read more

I have been using the Lee Rec center for years and I am very satisfied with what is offered and how it is managed. Sure, I can go to the gym for cheaper, but I decided to support this local center and I do not mind paying yearly membership for it. I feel welcomed there. I am up the hill in the gym - considering the average age of its patrons. There is no grunting and I've never had to wait for a machine or weights. Their pool has about 15 lanes and there is always a space in one of those - as long as you pay attention to the notices about certain events in the pool. The sauna is always working and it seems clean and with perfect temperature. A young pool guards often swing by and peek in, just to make sure that everybody is OK. There are hundreds of lockers available and I have never heard about any incidents in the center. Indoor track with the basketball courts has nice lighting. Squash courts are many and they can be used as tennis walls during the winter. There are dozen of good group classes. Bottom line - no cost is high if it is investment in your health. Other centers are relatively close but I never needed to go there besides ice skating in Mount Vernon center. read more

If you are coming here to play any form of 2v2 ,3v3 etc basketball do not come . This place exemplifies white privilege and is not accepting of the crowd that basketball entails mainly people of color . You are greeted and treated different by the staff . Before the gym fully opened back up the main patrons were people who were looking to play pick up and were obliged until the gym started to open back up now that the "hoopers " are less of a commodity , they are mistreated . Horrible thing to see in 2021 . I recommend going to XSport or any other gym that will actually treat you fairly . They also constantly rent the gym out and it's barely available for members.I would go far as to say as a 40 y/o White male that people of color who intend to play basketball are not welcome . read more

My daughter attend the preschool program there, the teachers are wonderful, my daughter loves her teachers, and looking forward to go to preschool every day. The preschool program directors are very professional and responsive. There are quite a few wonderful parktake class teachers there too. My daughter also attended some other more expensive dance class & summer camps at other locations, but I personally think Lee rec teachers are the best. Especially Ms Kara who teaches dance and music classes there, she is always full of passion for her teaching and her students, and her classes are always so fun for both children and their parents. read more

This place is spectacular!!! I love the waterpark. All the staff there is very nice and friendly. Place is kept clean. The playground next door is nice cool off place after the waterpark closes at 7pm. read more

Great pool near old town Alexandria. The basketball gym is also indoor and very nice.

I love Lee District and all of their parks and playground, but they have a significant bee problem. Do not attempt to have a picnic or a lunch here. You will be swarmed by bees. I've never seen anything like it at any other park. Great place to play, just plan to eat elsewhere. read more

This is a great park to go to with the kids. We spend most of our time over at Chessie's, either in the water park in the summer or in the adjacent playground the rest of the year. There's plenty to keep active munchkins busy...and while sometimes I panic that I can't see them, overall it's really accessible whether you're right on top of them or a parent who is ok with some relative roaming! There's also lots of land to just walk between the playground and the Rec center, or down to the ballfields. We've played wallball by the tennis courts, cartwheeled through the open grassy areas, or put on glorious shows in the "treehouses." Sometimes it does get too crowded to park, but that's rare. read more

Staff taking the blind eye to the operation and maintenance of this place. Poorly managed...

This place is everything, I can't believe it's free. Aside from needing a properly fitted water shoe, you literally need nothing else. Roll up whenever and everything is free. The water is a bit cold but the kids don't care. Their's a shaded overhang for parents to pop a squat and play on their phones. There's no real possibility of kids running off because the door is manned at all times so kids cannot escape. It's the best. There's an adjacent playground, that is one of those fancy, rubberized-ground parks. One for the littles. One for the bigs. I am a HUGE fan. This is about 10 minutes from our house and I will be living here once my son is old enough to wear water shoes. Another free perk of living in Fairfax county! read more

Really liked the park. The staff was friendly there was ice cream for sale. Everything was clean and orderly. Very nice place for families. However, my son was called a Nigger by a child. I was so shocked by this I simply left. In hindsight I should have notified the staff. If you visit this park and encounter racism please alert the staff and hopefully the offenders will be asked to leave. I would hate to see such a great place become overshadowed by hate. read more

My wife and I had taken swimming lessons here. Bernadette was our instructor and she was a very good teacher. The pools are clean and never crowded. It has a good sized gym. The locker and shower area are clean. read more

Great staff, nice facility. Great place to go swimming, take a class or work out. My kids loved the summer camps offered.

Love the place but every time we go to use the pool and the spa, we are always told that the pool is closed for some function even though online it says the pools is open. They need too get their schedule update online so people don't drive all the way but find out that the pool is closed. read more

Tennis, swimming, workouts, soft play rooms, turf soccer field, and it's right in the neighborhood - plus now they have a toddler spray water park and amazing playground... great family place to go - promotes a healthy lifestyle and family activities. What a treasure! read more

I go to Lee District often to play pick up basketball or racquetball and the facilities are nice. There are usually a lot of people playing so you can always find a game. The basketball courts can be a bit crowded when there are events going on, but overall it is great. read more

We reserved a room here in advance with no real issues except that not all employees seemed to be properly informed about how the payments are made. Which was inconvenient since their website is not too informative about everything so we called to be extra sure. Over the phone we were told that the deposit is paid upfront before party date ($50) and the rest is made the day of. ($50/hr). However the full deposit and hourly rate is paid upfront and in person at the location. However, we met with Hannah who was more than accommodating for this error. Both party areas to choose from were on the smaller size and only one (Hilltop room) was private. The price also includes five tables and twenty five chairs. You can choose how they are arranged. For the price it was not a bad deal, especially if you are on a budget. However, we were not given twenty five chairs but there were two random, folded up tables off to the side that were just there taking up space. They did provide a smaller table that was for gifts/cake. Overall I was happy with the room despite the lacking of chairs and a surplus of tables. You are allowed to arrive 15 minutes before your party time to set up. You cannot hang anything up on the walls/ceilings but there are not food restriction with the exception you can not have any open flames(and possibly food warmers). I also rented the soft playroom, your child and yourself must have socks!! For health reasons I was okay with this policy and found socks, but there was no need for the guy to be rude about it. The attendant was younger who was rude and probably shouldn't work with children at all. He sat in the corner on his phone most of the time. There was no sign to say the room was reserved for a party and people would come in who were not part of the party. As far as I know no attempt was made to deter others from coming in. The attendant who snapped at us that my 1 year old had no socks and couldn't play, didn't bother saying anything about this. The room was clean and the little ones had lots of fun. However, I will not reserve for a party again. It wasn't the best experience. Pool was to be expected, not very crowded, lifeguards were good except for one female lifeguard who screamed angrily at everyone, mainly children. Womens bathroom had 1 non-slip mat. Stalls NEEDED CLEANING. they were disgusting. Would swim here again, had lots of fun. Just wear flip flops. The facility as a whole was clean and in order. read more

The pool is where it's at. The basketball court was cool too. I gym didn't look that great when I saw it. This is a review is for Lee District RECenter Preschool. If you are looking for fun and safe place to enroll your little one to learn this is a great place! We loved our daughters teachers Ms. Watson and Ms. Hallie! They are the Dolphin teachers Tues/Thurs 9-1pm. The student and teacher ratio is perfect, 2 teachers for 14 students. The monthly payment is $235. Our daughter was 3 when we enrolled her for level 3 class, and will be enrolling her for level 4. They must be potty trained to be enrolled. They do a lot learning through art and crafts, games and they go to the park, even if it rains they take them to the soft play room. Our experience was amazing and we are happy! read more
