This is my third year in a row on the George Mason University Campus for the purpose of attending…read morethe Virginia High School State Swimming Championship. Parking can be a challenge for visitors depending on timing. There is a lot of close surface parking. The lot was overall pretty clean with minor debris. The facility although dated to the early 70's is in great condition and was fully renovated in the past 15 years. The primary pool and diving well is for George Mason Swim and Dive team practice and competition. However, faculty and students can use the pool. They also have a Masters swim group. The spectator area is extremely compact, but spans the entire length of the pool and well. The Olympic size pool is 50 meters with movable bulkhead, platform diving and well. The aquatic complex consist of approximately 145,000 gallons of swimming capability. The Long Course pool has eight lanes for competition with depths of 7-8 feet for greater speed. The facility is maintained to high standards and is kept very clean. The locker room area is somewhat small, but was pretty clean. There were two malfunctioning items. A sink was closed off and a non flushing urinal. Fairfax is a cool historic city with the George Mason campus meshing into the community. Day passes are offered to visitors for $10. This covers the entire pool and fitness areas in the building.

This place is horrible. I pay $28,000 in tuition every semester, and you're telling me I can't use…read morethe SINGLE ab machine in the entire gym? Wtf? I walk in and see a huge part of the place "under construction." Keep in mind I have a fractured elbow and other injuries, and the only way for me to train abs right now is with an ab machine which is locked away in a room labeled "under construction." Why can't you just move the only ab machine out of that room and put it in the main area? Is it too heavy? Does it not have wheels? I genuinely don't get it. And every time you walk in, something is always out of service. The Smith machine has been broken since August and it's now the end of the semester. All this money, and the only thing they can do is tell you "you can't do this, you can't do that." At this point I'm seriously considering getting a membership at a private gym. I can't stand this place anymore. If you go to GMU or plan to, seriously consider the fact that the fitness facilities, not just the Aquatic Center, offer horrible service with pointless "safety" rules and regulations that make everyone's life harder. His staff is well-trained, friendly, and professional, and the pool and sauna are always spotless -- which is a major factor for me. Zach is also great with kids and makes swim lessons fun and engaging. I especially appreciate the small basketball hoop he added to the pool area -- such a thoughtful touch that members of all ages enjoy. You can tell he truly cares about creating a great experience for everyone. Keep up the excellent work, Zach! Lifetime is lucky to have you.

Staff doesn't want to hear complaints, problems, or issues and to get rid of you they will tell you that they just can't meet your needs. Apparently, enforcing their own rules is just too much to ask of them. I have seen boys in the women's locker room as old as 9 years of age but they do nothing to curb the behavior contributing to this. Better to invest a little more $$$ to go to a nice, well-run facility elsewhere and avoid the stress you're sure to endure at Oakmont.

This place is extremely family friendly and amenities includes a large shaded baby pool, playground, grills, picnic tables, and TONS of loungers and chairs. Communication is great (in fact, I still am on their email list) and I love how they have a rotating list of food trucks to visit. Parking is easy and there are lots of trees for shde.

We've been at the pool…read morefor 5 years and every year, I'm excited to see the people I haven't seen all winter and that I'll be seeing almost daily for the rest of the summer. I think the community is great! We also have an awesome swim team that has climbed up to Division 2 this summer, so if you're looking for a great swim coach where your kids can swim competitively, this pool is it. The swim team is also big enough that your kids will have plenty of friends to choose from. There's a nice cohort or about 5-6 girls and 5-6 boys in each age group for your kids to gel with and my kids look forward to playing with their swim friends after practice. If you're looking at VAC verses Dunn Loring, I personally prefer VAC because: -the pool is set back from the road so you don't hear street noise -the pool has trees to provide shade for the mornings and evenings - I've heard about friends who are Dunn Loring members getting awful sunburns -the fee to become a member at VAC is refundable when you end your membership, unlike Dunn Loring -we only have one pool but it has 8 lanes making for much faster swim meets. Swim meets at Dunn Loring seem to last forever.

This pool has been in business sometime, mostly for Mosby Woods residents and visitors. Have been lucky to have swum laps here, or just chilled with the kindle on the fairly comfortable chairs. The gravel lot works, and can hold a decent amount of vehicles. If parking is an issue, residential streets close by have room. The employees here are very friendly. Also kudos to them, for not allowing teenagers to do what they want to do. Yes all of us, myself included were young once, but sometimes you want to hammer out laps or relax a bit. There's more road noise from 66, due to the 66 inside the Beltway project. Yet all in all, a decent place to be on a hot summer day.

I am a person that pays a attention to small details because I am also an operations manager…read more LA Fitness took over the Xsport gyms in the Fairfax area and shut down all the pools but our membership cost did not go down at all - NOT ONE PENNY. What the heck is going on?!?! Reopen the dang pools or lower the rates!! I literally joined XSport in 2023 for the pool and then never got to use it because at first it kept needing repairs, then LA Fitness took over and closed it completely. I thought it was just that location (Strawberry Ln.) so I came to this one and it was closed too! So far, the only plus at this location is all the machines are usually in service (unlike strawberry ln, which has now closed completely). There's a 35lb kettlebell with no companion. All weights should have a companion. This is an easy fix that has never been addressed. Unlike Strawberry Ln, only ONE of the front desk staff is friendly and personable. I don't know his name but he's a gentleman with locs, he always greets everyone when they come and go. I've seen 2 trainers greet as well if I wave first. The other front desk staff just sit at the desk on their phone and say Hi - that's about it. Staff overall should be more personable and welcoming. Further, the plumbing is not good. The toilets can't even flush the toilet paper on the first flush. I have to press the button at least 5-7 times. There's almost no pressure. Highly unsanitary. The ladies locker room never smells like it's been tended to no matter what time I've been there. There's no trash but is anything being wiped down? Mopped? disinfected?! It doesn't smell like it. Only person I ever see cleaning around there is the guy who vacuums the floors, because he's often doing it during the evening rush. Operationally, he should probably vacuum before or after that evening rush or someone could trip over the extension cord he uses. He'll vacuum right around your feet while you're mid-movement. He's done it to me several times when I'm at the benches doing a set. It's distracting and dangerous. Because of the Strawberry Ln gym closing, this one is even more crowded. I hope they have plans to expand if they're not going to reopen the pool. Get rid of it and add more machines or something. It's highly unfair for the pool to be advertised and that our membership was partially based on that, for it to not even be available! Lastly, the signs still say Xsport even though it's been LA Fitness for over a year. Update your information!

Decided to try it out now that LA Fitness took over - in hopes that it was cleaned up and a better overall gym. This. Place. Is. Disgusting. I did a free trial and went in the morning. The bathrooms were gross with full sanitary containers in the stalls. Soap was empty in all but one of the dispensers. Someone left food just sitting, opened and spoiling, on the counter. Clearly whoever cleans before they lock up decided to omit the cleaning part. The gym space has so much potential but everything is insanely worn down and DIRTY. I've been to 'run down' gyms and you don't need new, fancy equipment to be clean. Also, the person that closed the night before clearly didn't care to put anything away. Looked like a toddlers play room after a candy induced episode - stuff all over the place. This place needs to shut down, revamp the entire interior, and just start over. I hate that the closest, most convenient gym makes you feel like you need a tetanus shot after a work out.
