It has a diving board and basketball hoop as well. There are lots of lounge pool chairs around the pool. I was at the pool from 3-5 and most of the seats were in the shade. They also have an umbrella you can sit under. The check in area is the same as the other Reston Association pools, they have the desk to check in and then the men and women's restrooms you walk through to get to the pool area. They have a few parking spots by the pool, if you don't live in walking distance.

You can never be shore how a neighborhood pool is going to be- do they actually take care of it or is it kind of just forgotten and left to the elements? Well, North Shore is definitely more cared for! No promises I'm done with the puns, but thanks for continuing to read! In my time in Reston I went to 2 RA pools and they were both super nice. I think this one was slightly better maintained, and it was the only one open before 4pm on weekdays (the hours can be kind of confusing). The main pool is a good size, and has some lap lanes. There's also a separate shallow kiddy pool and a separate hot tub! It's a great option if you want some sun and fresh air and to do something fun but closer to home. I'm shorely not kidding that I'd recommend this spot!

When you pull in, there's a few tennis courts in great condition. There's a nice covered area where they were doing concessions doing the swim meet, but would be a nice place to sit during normal hours. I also appreciated that they had a huge fridge for members to use to store their things during their visits. I wish our pool had that! One entire side of the pool has stadium seating - long wood rows for you to watch the swim meet. The rows are a bit narrow so they're tight when you're trying to pass someone, but it's a really nice touch. Whoever designed this pool has been to a lot of swim meets and was thinking about spectators. :) There's also a nice shady patio behind the stadium seating, as well as a volleyball court on sand. And because I know you're wondering, there is public WiFi - you just need the code to get in.

They have two separate courts; a bigger one on the higher level that has two on it and the smaller one on the lower level that has one, so it's really a great facility where you can have a lot of people playing at once. There's also a little tennis building with a covered cabana area that offers tables & a lot of seating where parents or friends and family can sit and relax while they wait, and a smaller waiting area between the two courts. If you prefer to stay active while you wait, the grounds are connected to many trails that you can go walk or run on. Our neighborhood community pool has swam against this pool during swim season and it is also a beautiful facility.

The pool here is Olympic size with a swim lane, a diving board and deep end of 9' I believe. Lifeguards (at least 4 at any time) are always on duty. They also have a kiddy pool which is great for kids under 2. The great thing about the pool is that it's Members Only or members guests. This helps to keep the riffraff out. On the same grounds as the pool is a rec room. This place is perfect for having parties, get-togethers, or reunions. There's even a bathroom in the rec room, so you don't have to go downstairs to use the shower area connected to the pool. There's also a kitchenette, and tables and chairs are already in the rec room. This room is available to members of the pool for a fee of around $200. There are also some tennis courts right next to the pool area. The tennis courts are great because they're fenced in. The fence looks like they are 8 to 10 feet high, so you don't really have to worry about balls leaving the court area. Next to the tennis court is an asphalt basketball court. I'm pretty sure it's a full court from the looks of it. Next to the basketball court is a nice jungle gym for kids to play on. The jungle gym area is mulched. This area contains swings for both young children, as well as infants and toddlers. It also has monkey bars, a couple of slides and a hamster tunnel for kids to crawl through. Near the jungle gym area is a dog waste repository. It also has a bag dispenser for animal waste. Parking in this place is pretty good most of the time. In the summertime you shouldn't have a problem finding a parking spot even at peak swimming hours. I will say however, that during swim team season parking can be at a premium during swim meets. Living in the neighborhood right next to the swimming pool, I've experienced firsthand people parking right on the street in front of my house and taking up my parking spot. People have gone as far as to also park in front of fire hydrants; the police actually patrol this neighborhood frequently and often hand out tickets when they see this. Overall this is a great area. It's great to take your kids out to the park and let them play on the jungle gym, there's also a walking path that winds through Runnymede Park, there's swimming in the summer, tennis, and just about anything you want here if you're an outdoors person.

I think the community is great! We also have an awesome swim team that has climbed up to Division 2 this summer, so if you're looking for a great swim coach where your kids can swim competitively, this pool is it. The swim team is also big enough that your kids will have plenty of friends to choose from. There's a nice cohort or about 5-6 girls and 5-6 boys in each age group for your kids to gel with and my kids look forward to playing with their swim friends after practice. If you're looking at VAC verses Dunn Loring, I personally prefer VAC because: -the pool is set back from the road so you don't hear street noise -the pool has trees to provide shade for the mornings and evenings - I've heard about friends who are Dunn Loring members getting awful sunburns -the fee to become a member at VAC is refundable when you end your membership, unlike Dunn Loring -we only have one pool but it has 8 lanes making for much faster swim meets. Swim meets at Dunn Loring seem to last forever.
