I've been going to Lifetime Fitness for over 13 years, and Zach is by far the best Aquatics Manager I've seen. He takes the time to talk with everyone and really gets to know the members. His staff is well-trained, friendly, and professional, and the pool and sauna are always spotless -- which is a major factor for me. Zach is also great with kids and makes swim lessons fun and engaging. I especially appreciate the small basketball hoop he added to the pool area -- such a thoughtful touch that members of all ages enjoy. My husband, one year old and I moved from Cali and being new here we decided to try the gym out. We have now been here for fourish months I cannot express how much we LOVE this gym. Not only is the staff incredibly welcoming but the love and support they have for our daughter is amazing. This location is very clean and has a great selection of free weights versus machines. The pool, while it works seems so colorless and dated compared to the rest of the center and feels like an after thought. One of my favorite features they offer is the hot and cold chairs for recovery, which is wonderful post workout! My downfall with this location is online it only offers signature memberships. Not everyone has kids, wants to do yoga, or the extra stuff. Please add separate membership pricing. This deters people from signing up. No one likes being coerced into a membership they don't need. If you need to freeze or cancel your membership, the application lets you do this. It's a lot better than having to go in face to face to cancel. Let's face it, one wants to do that. read more

Reported the concern to the general manager and staff for months and if anything... they smell worse now than before I reported it. For the cost of membership you'd expect better. My wife has been a dedicated member of this gym for 16 years, and what I've witnessed recently is nothing short of betrayal to loyal members and extreme greed as Life Time has been engaging in non-stop price gouging. Her membership dues have increased from $89 in 2019 to $149 in 2023, over 67% in less than 4 years. 2.5 of those 4 years were during the pandemic. Time and time again, Life Time chooses to take advantage of its long-standing members, displaying a complete lack of loyalty and integrity and increasing dues using meaningless buzzwords like "refreshed spaces and enhanced programming" as an excuse to maximize their margins. Moreover, they frame their messaging of due increases to loyal members as a display of "appreciation" because it's a whopping $40 below the rate of new members. Ridiculous. This kind of greed is simply unacceptable and anyone considering this gym should think twice before becoming a member. read more

My go to gym in Fairfax! I got the whole fam memberships. The price isn't too bad with all of us, it's discounted somewhat. It's got all you need out of a gym, classes, swimming pool, bball court, weights, etc. has lockers with the locks and towels you can use. Best of all is the childcare! And the summer programs that they have for kids is also really good. You can get swim lessons as well. Nice cafe to work and work out! Food options as well but not that cheap read more

We were referred to Lifetime 2 weeks ago. We went and toured the Columbia location. We fell in love. Yes in love with a gym!! Due to Fairfax being closer we have made this location our home. It is smaller than Columbia. But has all the same classes and gym machines. We recently signed our daughters up for swimming classes. You get 1 month complimentary with your membership. I've taken GTX, Zumba, Yoga Fluid, AMP Cycling classes and more. I love that all these classes are included with your membership. Our children love the children's center which offers classes for them as well. If you haven't tried this gym you are missing out! read more

So I have been to a few Gyms including GMU RAC and AFC, Planet Fitness, and XSport. I am really happy to say that LifeTime has for sure been my favorite so far! It is pricey but when you really look at it from all the services, amenities, equipment it is a pretty good deal. From basketball court, pool slide, many group classes, and up-to-date equipment this place really has it all. The only thing I hate about it is that there are only 2 guest passes per month which don't roll over to the next month, in addition there is a fee for using a credit card to pay your monthly membership. The management changed the hours for seniors that have membership through united healthcare like me since January 2024. One can only use between 9:30 am and 3 pm. We been members for 10 years and loved it until mid 2023. Issues: The renovations have chopped the center up for 6 months. The cardio equipment no longer has feed so no TV signal. Basketball courts gone. We now have pickle ball instead. The overall cleanliness of the locker rooms is mediocre at best. Broken water fountains. It seems there is no overall management. 2/6/24: Just came in the gym tonight. Men's shower is out till 3/22/24. I can only assume the women's shower will be out next. We were told we could use other gyms in Reston or Centerville. How can it take over two months to update showers that were fine already? Even more areas under construction. I like this gym. I have been to several in the DMV area and this one stands out for its very large open concept. It does lack an outdoor pool, but considering some members have to pay for that, I would say the average user will not miss it for the majority of their membership. All the other amenities are available at this location, such as pickle ball courts, rock climbing, and indoor pool. I am mostly a weight lifter and they have all the machines one would use for a full regime. They also have plenty of deadlift areas. The construction is annoying since I think it would be nice to have the whole gym available with the prices we pay. This gym has been my go to for a while and have not had any issues with my routine. I think once the construction is completed it should be good to go! Until then I do hope they dont raise the prices since its not a completed gym read more

I had a membership thro UnitedHealth and medicare at lifetime, they just ( Jan2023 ) limited hours to 9:30 am to 3 pm for that type of membership so people like me that work , not able to use the gym.No option in the morning and neither evening or night. what a stupid policy by lifetime . I've been coming to this lifetime for a little over a year now. If there was any gym within an equal distance from my home, I would go there. Even to planet fitness. This lifetime is not the move. You pay 100% when amenities are only available ~ 75% of the time. I wasn't going to post a review, but this past month has been awful. Today was the last straw for me, beeping all morning, no access to the free weight area, AND you keep classes going meaning less room for others to work out. I understand that they are renovating the floors, but at the same time I'm paying full price for access to 25% of the gym or I drive an extra 30 minutes in the morning to get a workout in before work. I think it's ridiculous that you raise my dues and then restrict access to 50% of the gym. Aside from the access problems, there's also the issue of teenagers and younger kids on the weight floor. The staff can't control them and I can't tell if I'm going to a gym or a day care half the time. The teens are rowdy and they throw weights at each other. I've also been hit by careless teens literally throwing weights around the weight floor. All in all, I'm paying nearly $200/month (and it's increasing) for limited (and rare) access to amenities and to lift in a daycare. Two stars because the majority of the staff are genuinely great people, and this isn't their fault. read more

So far, I am totally impressed. Yes, it's a bit on the pricey side and I had to accept that, but it costs the same as eating out for lunch twice per week. If you eat out for lunch, you can afford it. So, my fitness, health, the environment I decide to workout at, it's all worth it to me. Front desk staff are all pretty professional, upbeat and pleasant overall. The facility is large so there is enough equipment and no wait time. The environment is kept very clean and well maintained. People definitely use the wipes to clean off the equipment after use too. I like the huge, fluffy shower towels and small workout towels too. And it's open 24 hours. I've only taken one group exercise Zumba class and it was enjoyable. I only thought the instructors choro was too quick and fast because the class was not keeping up, but they were enjoying themselves. So far, so good. Welcoming and supportive staff. I'm honestly shocked that the reviews of this place are this low. I have been a member of Lifetime for almost two years now and have nothing but positive things to say about my experience. Yes, the membership is more on the pricy side. However, you get the best buck for your bargain. With 24/7 access to a steam/sauna as well as the gym itself, there's no better option. Personally, when choosing a gym, I was looking for somewhere that was more of a lifestyle rather than a place I could go for working out. The days I feel weak it's nice that I could go to the gym to hit the hot tub then go to the steam/sauna. If I want to do a vigorous workout I have all the equipment I can imagine plus more. Lifetime does a great job of getting the most up-to-date equipment. They also keep all the equipment in great condition. The staff has been very polite and personable. I find myself enjoying the small talk I make with them occasionally. Overall, I found Lifetime to be the gym I crave going to after a long day at work because of the ambiance of the gym. I strongly recommend everyone to give this place a try! They give a 7-day free trial to those who are iffy on joining. read more

I'd been a member of Life Time for a long time, stopping only during the pandemic. I liked it a lot at first, but it's gone downhill in recent years, including overall cleanliness. Particularly disgusting: Guys who spit big blobs onto the steam room floor, knowing that others go in barefooted. I've also run into some issues with the instructors. It's great that they want to do a class, but that doesn't mean they get to close down the rest of the place. And the arrest of several folks trafficking in 'roids a while back didn't help. Plus last time I was in the video screens no longer carry the techno and other stuff that is great when you are doing cardio. My hope is that this location will get their act together. Honestly I'm shocked at these horribly petty reviews. People have a one-off / less than ideal experience and then they go trying to tear down the business as some form of vindication. This gym kicks ass. It smells like a Westin Hotel when you walk in and like some of the other more accurate reviews have said, you're paying for a lifestyle. Nothing turns me off more than walking into a gym that is hot, steamy and smells like sweat. No thanks. I feel excited to come here. And don't even get me started on the childcare arrangement. This place is gold and worth every damn penny....albeit a lot of Pennies. This girl was legitimately leaf blowing the cement area at the entrance of the gym today and I couldn't have been happier. People want to feel good going into the gym. And this place gets it. You can't judge an institution based on one employee experience. The ONLY thing I would say negatively (though I admit I'm a bit neurotic about this stuff) is wet hair on the floor of the locker room. It's not bad but I've come across it a few times and nothing irks me more. And I wish they had more fitness classes. The app is also amazing. Highly recommended overall. Update may 22, 2022 Been coming for a few weeks now and although I still love the gym- a MAJOR downfall is the kid/infant play hours. They don't even start until 9am after I'm already well into my work day and they end at 730. On the weekends they close at 3pm. Infant care doesn't start until 30 min after kids area opens and they close 30 min prior to the general kids closing. I have older kids and an infant and so basically I'm limited to the infant hours - making it even harder to get to the gym, and certainly impossible to do in the mornings. I'm in line with James, someone who also previously rated lifetime. The rate increases and decrease in amenities for young folks like all basketball courts being removed. Not even one basketball court/hoop to get a few shots in. The business model appears to be going towards an older generation. I assume it'll continue due to business models - can't blame them if they are making money. With that said, other locations may be better but at a higher price point. Higher stars for Fairfax because of the management at this location and staff friendliness. Always towels and always clean. read more

Member since 2002, but looking for an alternative. A recent major overhaul has removed two of the three elliptical / stepper trainers that I use on a rotating basis. Clearly they are shifting from serving a wide range of interests to a narrow focus on power lifters. That may be a smart move in terms of their target demographic, but it makes it pretty much useless for me. If I find an alternative that better serves my needs, I'll be sad to see it go - had a lot of good years here! read more

Been coming here for over a year. The place is swarming with rude high school boys who crowd around equipment and annoyingly bother you about "how many more sets? You almost done?" Or they just flat out steal your machine acting like they "didn't see" your water bottle sitting on top of it. This gym gives high school kids a student discount which is insane because the rest of us pay almost $100 a month so we can have a gym that won't be crowded and then they just sell a ton of cheap memberships to rude high schoolers and you can't even get your workout in. It just defeats the purpose.... Once those kids get out of school across the street in the afternoon, they walk over and invade the place. Quit selling so many student discounts! read more

I'm so glad we ditched our old gym membership and switched to here, not only due to proximity but also because there is so much more equipment, plenty of space, and a variety of workout classes! While pricey and though not the most "updated" or modern looking of gyms in the area, they keep the space clean and organized. They have a pool, jacuzzi, sauna, Pilates equipment area, and offer HIIT classes and personal training for extra costs. They cater to families by offering membership deals, swimming lessons for children as well as having a play area. They also host different activities for kids during the weekend. The workers here are all very friendly. I especially love that we never have a hard time finding parking and that it never gets too crowded. read more

What I use last 2weeks in 3 different lifetime so far visited 7 times,(Centreville,Fairfax, Rockville) my experience, Rockville is best place to go. I heard Near RIO -Gaithersburg md , recently open, is very great place work out. But in my situation, working at centreville and Annandale, is my best choice. It's very best near my working place and home. Every place great maintenance and service, need more improvement at Rockville wifi service. I'm satisfied so far. This gym has changed a lot. There's a stretching area now and the locker room is supplied for you. At least for women's locker room. The equipment seems a bit older but they are all functional. The staff is nice but they seem too stiff and corporate like. I personally prefer a gym that feels like I'm really going to a gym. Fit staff with coordinated gym clothes, always smiling and giving the best customer service. Overall, not a bad gym but definitely not for me. If you're looking for a classy gym with limited members occupying your machine, go here or LA Fitness. (priced high) If you're looking for a young crowd, affordability, and gym rats, go to Xsport Fitness. But I couldn't justify spending $80 whatever a month when I could do Golds Gym for less than half the price, and with more locations. Beware cancellation time!!! I enjoyed the club when I used it, but when I went in to cancel on the 8th of the month, I had to pay for 2 more months!!! This is a great spot to get a good workout. There are plenty of cardio machines, weight machines, and free weights. There are even free classes like Zumba and strength training you can take though reservations. If you like to watch television while working out, there are plenty of TV sets on the back wall and personal monitors with cable channels at pretty much every cardio machine. The gym also provides a good size hot tub, pool, and steam room. You also get fresh towels and wash cloths at your disposal. Additionally, there's access to showers with soap and shampoo. If you're a male, you get free disposable razors, shaving cream, mouthwash, q-tips, and hair product to use when freshening up after a workout. Overall, Life Time Fitness provides a lot of amenities for all types of people seeking to achieve their fitness goals. The staff members are nice, helpful, and keep the entire gym clean. I grudgingly have to admit it - Lifetime has a lot of things that other gyms don't have. -Gym open 24/7 (pool open about approximately 6AM-12AM) -Lots of classes (including Friday night zumba) -Aisles and aisles of equipment -Both coed and single-sex saunas (the single-sex sauna is mint flavored) -Childcare for $8/month per child (including classes for your kids) -Water slide in the pool area -Basketball courts -TV lounging room in the locker room But I still walked away with a bad taste in my mouth. Most of it was the very rude membership rep that I met with. Some of it was the high price ($130/month for a couple). And a small part was that the pool isn't very good for lap swimming. There's only 2 lanes, and neither is wide enough to share. The pool is also uncomfortably warm after you've put in a few laps. For the price Lifetime is charging, there shouldn't be anything that Lifetime is missing. read more

If I could give Kirk in the aquatics department 5 stars I would. He has been patient and accommodating. The problem is the ridiculous corporate policy regarding missed swim lessons. Come to find out that if your child misses a swim lesson, there is no make-up lesson, but instead they get a "missed lesson credit." Once you have to accumulated 4 of these credits you get a lesson. This applies even when the missed lesson is the fault of the club! We missed a lesson because there was a power outage at the club and were given the "missed lesson credit" and were told that we would have to get 3 more in order to have a full lesson. IN WHAT ALTERED REALITY IS THIS REMOTELY FAIR OR EQUITABLE?!!! We PAID for a lesson, at least give us a full refund. I have to say that I will encourage anyone looking for swim lessons to look elsewhere, as this process is seriously flawed. What person that pays $20 to go to a movie and the projector is broken is going to be happy with a $5 movie credit?! That is essentially what is going on here. Please lifetime... tell me how this is right, fair and honest. So we called corporate and they reached out to the club and we got a refund for the lesson. This is a great facility. Clean and the staff is great. Pretty much anything you would want from a health club. Only issue I have is they have recently started to lock the studios in the evening/night. I work two jobs and I am unable to make the early morning or daytime classes that is held in the studios. I normally go at 9pm and would like to use the studios. When I asked the Concierge he said they locked it because people were "stealing" equipment. They have cameras in both studios if people are stealing then address them directly. The memberships here are pretty expensive and we should have access to the club's amenities and equipment during operational hours, we all shouldn't be denied access because of a couple bad apples. read more
