I first learned of Beloved Yoga at one of their open house in which they hold free yoga sessions for the community. When I started taking classes regularly I learned how inclusive & welcoming this community really is. When you first walk in you are greeted by friendly receptionists who give you a quick overview of where the bathroom is and such. They also provide mats if you forget yours (like I once did). There's plenty of blankets, blocks, straps to borrow as well if the class or your skill level requires them. Beloved Yoga feels like a wonderful haven to unwind after a long day. They have a wide variety of classes to choose from depending on your needs. I love how small & intimate the classes are-- with Covid & flu-season upon us it's important to me to be in a studio that maintains cleanliness and provides ample space to keep safe social distancing. It seems that Beloved Yoga values this as well. The studio has a quaint, homely feel which I now appreciate. I've been to corporate, fancy studios that claims to have all the bells and whistles (like heated rooms) which typically held way too many students cramped in the studio. BY is such a beautiful facility! I purchased a first-time 1 week unlimited pass for $20 and attended 3 classes. Colorfully decorated, welcoming vibes, always greeted, ipad check-in (registering online prior). #1 Vinyasa/Maryam - This class was the hardest out of the 3. Another instructor (Chris?) taught the last 30 minutes of the class and also played the banjira. I was able to do my first forearm stand! #2 Gentle Yoga/Joelle - GY was a little too slow for my pace. #3 Vinyasa/Jafar - I thoroughly enjoyed this 6 am class. Beaded necklaces, tees & tanks, CBD ointment, books for purchase. + BY has a bookcase filled with yoga, meditation books, etc. which I believe are available to check-out (like a library system) + 1 main room that's usually divided into 2 rooms (with Big Ass Fans) in addition to 3 small rooms (private instruction) + variety of INSTRUCTORS, classes, and times!!! - no app to sign-up for classes, online only read more

There are many different types of yoga classes, and additional programs, like meditation and a bollywood dance class for cardio (easy to follow for beginners). Absolutely love coming here for prenatal yoga. They entire staff is extremely sweet and the instructors are phenomenal. I always leave feeling so relaxed and energized. For someone who did not do yoga prior to pregnancy, I find that it has been extremely beneficial and something I hope to continue after my delivery. There are other yoga studios closer to my house but beloved yoga is truly amazing and I can't see myself going anywhere else. read more

I decided to start yoga after being inspired by a friend. I found Beloved Yoga online and I was so pleased with the quality and variety of classes that I just can't get enough of it! I am a true beginner but I try to take 3 classes a week, because I love the studio THAT much. I love that you can register for a class online - it holds me more accountable. The studio is beautiful, serene, and clean. They offer mats and props to use for free - so don't worry if you don't have your own! I've become a dedicated practitioner thanks in no small part to the instructors at Beloved Yoga for their skilled, patient, and fun teaching practice. Do not be intimidated coming here. I want to start off this review with stating I have hated yoga for years. My friend kept trying to get me to come to the Sunday morning class for a few months and I decided to give this place a try. I was blown away by the class that Dan gives. My workout background includes running and kickboxing. However, when I left this class I felt sore but refreshed. The instructor was quick about helping others get and maintain the correct positions. He explained the moves and everyone in the class seemed to be having a great time regardless of our fitness levels. I have never been to a place that made me feel more welcome. read more

I've gone to BelovedYoga twice now. This is my first foray into Yoga in a formalized setting - and this one is fabulous! The view is peaceful, the teachers knowledgeable and helpful. I've only been to the beginner class, which is at 7:45 pm. That's my challenge - I'd really like a beginner class in the morning or earlier evening. If there was a better time available for the class that meets my skills (very beginner!!), I would have given 5 stars. read more

I'm a big fan of Beloved Yoga but sadly I had not been there since they changed locations. When I finally stopped by, I could not stop thinking great things about it! The new location is BIG and it has 2 studios - good for more class options and times. The view of the studio I was in had a gorgeous view of the pond next to the building with lots of flowers and shrubbery. It was a wonderful view to take in while doing your flow. The studio is very clean, open, and bright which is a great change from their old location - it used to face a parking lot. The staff is always friendly and helpful and I love that they now have cubbies for your stuff, as well as a bathroom with multiple stalls (though shared with the rest of the building). They also provide complimentary towels, you can reserve your spot online, and on Sunday the classes are 1/2 priced, or donation-based. The classes are great - they don't try and pack students in like other studios, the instructors are very helpful but also respect your personal bubble, and I always feel at ease. I definitely love the new space and will make sure I'm not a stranger to this location any more. read more

Beloved Yoga's new Sanctuary in Reston, VA is truly a sacred space to practice yoga for all people and abilities. With 4 studios simultaneously teaching classes, there truly is something for everyone throughout the day. The instructors are very knowledgeable about the ancient teachings of yoga and incorporate a talk at the beginning of each class before we get moving to the asanas. I am impressed by the range of yoga classes offered for families with tots, tweens and teens. Their new Befriending Therapeutic Yoga programs offer people with dis-eases, trauma and recovery ways in which yoga can assist in healing from within. read more

this place is lovely! i really feel at home here, and in peace when taking classes. they are very sweet and accommodating to really any needs. and offer a variety of karma yoga/free classes to those who might need not be able to afford traditional classes. i really recommend Illeana's ayurvedic yoga class! I have been a practitioner at Beloved Yoga since 2009 and have found the teachers there to be incredibly knowledgeable about Yoga, anatomy and safety. It's a welcoming studio and everyone is very friendly. Their new studio is beautiful and spacious. The studio is tucked away at the back of the second building, facing away from the street. They have a great variety of classes to choose from - beginners to advanced (usually the Vinyasa or Yoga Groove classes on their schedule). They even have specialized classes like Prenatal Yoga, Baby & Me, Senior Yoga and Chair Yoga. They have a great deal for new students - one week of unlimited yoga classes for $20. I recommend Beloved to everyone! read more

Love! I took a 90 minute Vinyasa class with MaryAm, and came out refreshed and invigorated. The studio is clean, bright and friendly. I loved the floor to ceiling windows looking out into the pond and fountain. They also have several therapies available including deep tissue massage, acupuncture and reiki. read more

I've taken two Hatha classes here and so far I am impressed! The atmosphere is wonderful. The teachers were both great. The class was challenging but not extremely difficult, and I know there are harder classes available when I feel ready to make the leap to Vinyasa. I would recommend doing their beginner classes first if you're new to yoga, as there isn't a ton of explanation of the poses in the Hatha classes, so it's a lot easier to follow if you have a basic understanding of the terminology. Another thing I like: they have all the props you need there to use for free (after you pay for the class, of course). I bring my own mat, but I appreciate this vs. a lot of studio where they nickle and dime you to rent props if you don't have your own. One thing I'm torn about is that the front of the main studio is all windows. The view is lovely and it's very serene, but that also means no mirrors, which can also make it harder to see when you're doing a pose incorrectly. I'm really on the fence on this one, because I would like mirrors but also like the current set up. A one suggestion I would make to them is that they really need to get someone better at updating/checking their website. There's typos and out of date info in a lot of spots. read more

Very inviting studio. Alyson, Jafar, Carlos and Marni are my favorites, each with their own style but create a challenging vinyasa flow. Multiple vinyasa classes offered daily at reasonable rates for this area. My only wish is that the studio also offered ashtanga and rocket classes. read more

I have been going here for 6 weeks now and am so happy to have landed here. I was previously attending classes at a nearby studio and decided to move on. Beloved has superb instructors and an amazing program. This is so much more than a business to them. It's a love and a wonderful experience. Although my experience here is limited to the Tue/Thurs 6AM classes, it's still been overwhelmingly positive. I started going to Beloved almost 4 years ago after a back injury and a recommendation from my doctor to try yoga for healing. They allowed me to extend the start date of my class voucher while I was still too injured to go to class - I was so grateful for their flexibility on that. Once I was finally able to start yoga, I fell in love immediately with Vinyasa, largely because of the stellar instruction and environment at Beloved. I no longer practice there because it's not convenient for me location-wise, but highly recommend it to anyone who lives or works in Reston. read more

Beloved Yoga is a wonderful part of our local community for all life stages. I discovered Beloved when I was new to the area and very pregnant, and immediately found a welcoming community in the prenatal classes. The mom and baby classes were a lifeline in the early years, and allowed me to meet my mom tribe who are still my closest friends 5 years later. Incorporating yoga into our lives beginning when my children were just weeks old has developed into independent preschoolers asking for their regular yoga practice. Vasanthi is amazing in fostering a community amongst families and young children, and we look forward to continuing with the kids' yoga experience in the new studio. The variety of adult classes is also wonderful, and the new schedule pairing children's classes with adult classes allows us each to experience our own practice at the same time. I've been a yoga practitioner at Beloved Yoga for over 10 years, dating back to when they were at their former (and smaller) location a mile or so from their current location. BY is everything I could want in a dedicated yoga studio - multiple practice areas that can accommodate different class sizes; professional, highly knowledgeable and experienced instructors that not only have a thorough knowledge of various yoga styles but also an in-depth grasp of the anatomical, physiological, and even spiritual aspects of the practice; multiple styles of yoga to choose from; classes that accommodate every schedule; reasonable rates with no long-term commitments; and they even offer frequent seminars for those who seek to deepen their understanding (including multi-day overseas retreats) and teacher training for those who themselves wish to become yoga instructors. Furthermore, they are dedicated members of the Reston community and show it by offering free and discounted classes, and a studio-sponsored Yoga Day every June at the Reston Town Center. As long as I work or live in the Reston area, there is no reason for me to ever practice anywhere else. read more
