Equinox Tyson's Corner impresses with its clean, modern setting, featuring a coveted lap pool--a rare find among DC Equinox locations. The staff's friendliness and helpfulness make working out here enjoyable through their positive service. There are a variety of engaging classes available throughout the day. Free parking is a convenient perk, and the standard amenities like steam rooms, eucalyptus towels, and Kiehl's products in the showers elevate the experience. It's worth noting the downside lies in the locker rooms, which require you to bring your own lock, unlike other Equinox locations with built-in locks. I came here to get a good workout in a positive and modern atmosphere, this Equinox excelled.

I'm really disappointed to share an unfavorable review of this location. While visiting family in the area for Christmas my partner and I stopped into this location to work out on Christmas Day. My parent is a long time member of equinox and has 8 guest passes. Unfortunately the very abrupt manager wouldn't allow him to use a guest pass for me. She said I could work out for a $75 charge. It was 12:45 pm and the gym closes at 2:09 pm. I said no thanks! They also wouldn't let me go downstairs to fill my water bottle and I had to practically beg to use the bathroom while my partner was working out. I guess the Equinox Tysons message is Profit over People.

However, the facility itself was in dire need of renovation. - pool: covered outdoor pool that works as indoor pool during colder months, but the condensation is much, you can't see anything. (See pic) - it is like a maze: hard to navigate easily and it reminds you of your public school set up - group classes itself were nice, but the AC AND the fans on the ceiling don't work, so imagine how hot it gets.. like 77 on my group class day. When the manager, Bill, approached me, I tried to be reasonable. I introduced myself and attempted to deescalate the conversation. That is when he called me a child, said he could kick me out due to my conduct, and told me he would be watching me from now on. Separately, a woman at the front desk named Marina (who handles memberships) jumped into the conversation and brought up an unrelated prior incident where she claimed I had cursed at the front desk before, as if that was relevant to this situation. Both employees came across as aggressive in their tone, language, and body language. I've been coming to this gym for a while, and the other staff members have been great. My issue is not with the gym itself, but with how these two employees handled a minor situation in an unnecessarily confrontational way. I'm sure they'll try to find minor infractions and attempt to remove me unjustly.

Upon signing up for the 7 day pass, I received a text from Amir. Luckily, he was flexible and let me come at the end of March. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted by Isaac, who was extremely friendly and informative. We went through the entire walk through, and on my 2nd visit, he went over the prices. The only thing I didn't like is that they take down all the information from our Driver's License even if it's just a trial. Since this is considered a boutique gym, the classes are the main focus and driver for memberships. They get crazy busy and packed, but are only held at certain times of the day..and not Friday evenings. The classes include (but with different names): yoga, boxing, cycling and CS4. I was only able take one class--Ride with Lauren--and WOW it was fun and vibrant! I came back another day for leg day to try out the equipment. I was very fascinated by the TechnoGym equipment--beautiful, unique machines and all in pristine condition. There were SO MANY options for upper, lower, cardio, etc. Additionally, there is a separate cross fit area, where they hold classes and it is open to members. There is a recovery section, which includes compression sleeves, cryotherapy and massage chairs, which are convenient but I believe separate from the monthly gym membership. Also, there is a spa, whcih is definitely 3rd party and not included in the monthly membership. There is 2 hour parking available in the garage, which is validated at the front desk.

I've been to a few classes here - like Arlington, it depends on who your instructor is but I'd say I like the Arlington instructors better. That said, many teach here, too, so you can catch them. Also, there have rarely been waitlists at this location for classes compared to Arlington which is now seemingly always full. The showers here feel super small and I'm not sure if the saunas are co-ed or not. The locker room set-up is odd and I didn't want to risk being seen naked by entering into a sauna where men could also go. I'll explore next time I'm clothed. Parking is free when validated but is usually pretty easy. I think the manager who worked there last year and was a nightmare is gone, so everyone I interacted with was super nice.

My husband purchased a full body massage as a birthday gift for me at this spa. I was so excited (…read morebeing a mum - I don't ever go for massages anymore). He told me that he prefilled all the forms in so that I didn't need too. He specifically wrote that I do not like hard pressure massages and that I would like a light pressure massage. He also put down all my injuries and allergies. I mention this because I had an injury on my foot. The parking area is pretty easy to navigate and they do validate your ticket. Upon arrival I was greeted by the front desk receptionist who was really pleasant and offered me water or Champaign. I don't drink so I opted for water. They should definitely introduce non alcoholic drinks as well. When walking in the change room, I was vey underwhelmed. It was very small and there was signs on the walls asking guests to be quiet as the spa rooms were actually basically in the change rooms. It was bizarre. Also they don't have any hairdryers so I had to leave with wet hair in very cold weather - not ideal. They can't really have you drying your hair when the treatment rooms are so close I guess. They have plastic slippers ( while this makes sense for the steam room and pool etc, it is not comfortable). The treatment room I entered was in the change room( lol). The lady that massaged me kept repeating her name for some reason. Anyway- we started and it was probably one of the worst massages I had in my life. The pressure was extremely hard to the point of painful as she kept pulling my skin and I felt her nails in my skin. I asked her to lighten the pressure and it was at a point where I just wanted it to be over because she just wasn't listening to me and my body was in tense mode the entire time. She tried to massage my foot which i told her not too due to my injury and I'm like " didn't you read my form". What is the point you complete a form if the therapist doesn't read it. After the torture was over I was like - let me try the steam room and pool to assist with my abused body. The pool was nice but the jacuzzi didn't work. The steam room and sauna was nice but tiny. Now let me tell you about the showers. They only have two showers across from each other ( one is for people with disabilities and the other not). When I put the shower on I couldn't understand why the temperature of the water was not getting warm. Then I realized they installed the fixture incorrectly and hot is cold and cold is hot. Come on!!! You make so much money- surely you can fix that. I was like wtf at this point. Ok so then I went to check out the relaxation room. Um... yeah total joke. They have a kettle and a box with tea bags. Have they not heard of an urn that just gives hot water. So they would rather you fill the kettle and warm the water yourself. There was no snacks and right next to the relaxation area is a place people go to get nails done. So I didn't really relax there at all. Please don't waste your time and money at this place. I had to lie to my hubby and say it was great because I didn't want him to feel disappointed as he did get this experience for me as a birthday gift. Improvements ? I think the first thing I would say is get better massage therapists that actually listen to the client. Then move your treatment rooms and get a better relax area. This spa will close at some point because I don't know how sustainable there current " let's just get away with as little as we can " approach can go. From a hotel with such a good reputation- this spa was far from that.
