The Spa at the Ritz Carlton is very nice - very Zen and relaxing. They have a large SaltWater pool that is heated , Amazing large whirlpool next to the pool. Plenty of seating with some double size lounge couches. Typically it is very quiet but they do allow children so if the kids come it can get a little less Zen. The Spa also offers full service massage, pedis , manis and more. The Spa is High end and the service is top notch. Besides the pool and spa services they have separate male/female Locker rooms with Steam Rooms , Sauna and showers. The staff is super friendly and helpful. Often they even serve Champagne complimentary. It's very relaxing and we visit several times a year . Great for a quick getaway - Plus it's in the Ritz so you have the 5 Star service , restaurant , bar, lounge and rooms to go along with it. Next time in DC check this place out and be sure to visit the Spa ! The staff at the Spa makes the experience even better ! - so check them out you will be back !! read more

My husband purchased a full body massage as a birthday gift for me at this spa. I was so excited ( being a mum - I don't ever go for massages anymore). He told me that he prefilled all the forms in so that I didn't need too. He specifically wrote that I do not like hard pressure massages and that I would like a light pressure massage. He also put down all my injuries and allergies. I mention this because I had an injury on my foot. The parking area is pretty easy to navigate and they do validate your ticket. Upon arrival I was greeted by the front desk receptionist who was really pleasant and offered me water or Champaign. I don't drink so I opted for water. They should definitely introduce non alcoholic drinks as well. When walking in the change room, I was vey underwhelmed. It was very small and there was signs on the walls asking guests to be quiet as the spa rooms were actually basically in the change rooms. It was bizarre. Also they don't have any hairdryers so I had to leave with wet hair in very cold weather - not ideal. They can't really have you drying your hair when the treatment rooms are so close I guess. They have plastic slippers ( while this makes sense for the steam room and pool etc, it is not comfortable). The treatment room I entered was in the change room( lol). The lady that massaged me kept repeating her name for some reason. Anyway- we started and it was probably one of the worst massages I had in my life. The pressure was extremely hard to the point of painful as she kept pulling my skin and I felt her nails in my skin. I asked her to lighten the pressure and it was at a point where I just wanted it to be over because she just wasn't listening to me and my body was in tense mode the entire time. She tried to massage my foot which i told her not too due to my injury and I'm like " didn't you read my form". What is the point you complete a form if the therapist doesn't read it. After the torture was over I was like - let me try the steam room and pool to assist with my abused body. The pool was nice but the jacuzzi didn't work. The steam room and sauna was nice but tiny. Now let me tell you about the showers. They only have two showers across from each other ( one is for people with disabilities and the other not). When I put the shower on I couldn't understand why the temperature of the water was not getting warm. Then I realized they installed the fixture incorrectly and hot is cold and cold is hot. Come on!!! You make so much money- surely you can fix that. I was like wtf at this point. Ok so then I went to check out the relaxation room. Um... yeah total joke. They have a kettle and a box with tea bags. Have they not heard of an urn that just gives hot water. So they would rather you fill the kettle and warm the water yourself. There was no snacks and right next to the relaxation area is a place people go to get nails done. So I didn't really relax there at all. Please don't waste your time and money at this place. I had to lie to my hubby and say it was great because I didn't want him to feel disappointed as he did get this experience for me as a birthday gift. Improvements ? I think the first thing I would say is get better massage therapists that actually listen to the client. Then move your treatment rooms and get a better relax area. This spa will close at some point because I don't know how sustainable there current " let's just get away with as little as we can " approach can go. We live close, so we spent the weekend at this Ritz in Tysons for a spa weekend staycation... This review will be on the spa and facilities only tho... The spa for being at a Ritz and for being in a very hi-end, busy, popular area is way too small! I checked in, which was nice as they offered me a glass of champagne. They told me where to go next, which was to the gentleman's locker room and then go to the quiet room. I quickly found the locker room, but upon entering was taken aback by how small the locker room was. There's a single bench in the middle and all the lockers I saw right there were all there were. So, if more than 2 guys were checking in or using the locker room at once, they would be bumping into each other. I didn't know where the fresh robes and slippers were, since no one previously informed me, but I quickly figured where they both were. But there were also plenty of used slipper, robes, and towels laying around that no one had tended to yet. I disrobed, put on the robe and then sought out the quiet room... I had a hard time finding it because the room that "appeared" to be it was so tiny and had 2 women in it taking up the whole room with their loud conversation, I didn't think that was it, so I walked back out to the receptionist to ask and she told me that room was, in fact the quiet room. I went in and fortunately the "chatty Cathy's" quieted down and moved closer to each other, but when two more ladies came up, there was nowhere for them to sit, so they sat on ottomans. Ridiculous accommodations here!! Fortunately I didn't have to wait long and my therapist came to get me. He was helpful, friendly, and definitely very professionally skilled in massage therapy! I had an 80 minute session, which was painful at times, but I also appreciate a therapeutic massage. After the massage, I went back to the locker room to take a shower and then hit the hot tub and pool. The hot tub and pool area was pretty big, especially compared to the locker room and other areas of the spa. The temperature in the hot tub was spot-on, perfect for relaxing in there. The only issue was the horrible amount of chlorine they used... It literally took an entire day to get that smell out of my nose! The pool was clean and very nice and the temperature was great! Not cold at all! Overall, I enjoyed the massage and the pool area but didn't feel as relaxed as I should have (people need to know to SHUT UP when in a spa) and comfortable as I should have, due to the small spaces. This place is like a second home for me. It's an older spa but the service and the staff is why I keep coming back. I come for pedi and manicures. The price is higher than regular nail salons, but worth it because they use no chemicals. No excessive cutting on your cuticles that can later do long-term damage. l've learn so much here about healthy nails and what's good for you. I was given a gift card for this spa. I signed up for a massage and facial. I have had these services before elsewhere. I found the spa area pretty small. When I was called for facial, I let the facialist know I have a specidic skin condition. Halfway through the procedure she remembered about my condition and told me she used the wrong treatments and had to switch it up. But also said my condition will go away. This will never be the way according to every doctor I've seen. Back to the quiet room before the massage. There was a husband and toddler son with his wife. The wife went of to her treatment and the dad and son stayed back in the quiet room playing games. This guy was a great dad, but a quiet room is not where he should be with his son. The massage i received was just ok. A little too painful at times, but i did give feedback. Overall this spa is NOT worth the price. read more

My husband treated me to a generous gift card, and I was looking forward to a relaxing afternoon in the Ritz-Carlton spa. It turned out to be a disappointing affair. A number of the lockers in a locker room had low batteries and would not lock. You did not find out until you placed all your belongings in a locker and tried locking it. After finally locking my things, I looked for a bath robe to proceed to the shower. The way I found them hanging was very unsightly; they were in disarray and wrinkled. The first one I grabbed had holes and stains in it. Definitely not something you would expect from a four-star hotel spa. Upon entering a shower stall I discovered that the adjustable shower head would not stay in place, and someone's hair on the walls and floor. After taking shower I went to the swimming pool. As I was resting in a poolside chair, I saw a cockroach running towards my flippers. I was disgusted. I went back into the spa, since it was time for my hydro facial. I liked the outcome of the procedure, and my skin felt amazing. However, having worked in the beauty industry, I was not impressed with the esthetician's professionalism. For the price tag, the services received were subpar, and I will not be returning for another disappointment. read more

Had to go to McLean on a Sunday for work and my company has a good rate with the Ritz-Carlton, so I stay here a good bit. For this trip I decided to splurge and reserve a massage appointment in their spa. The instructions in the confirmation email encourages arriving 30 minutes early to enjoy the amenities, which include a sauna, hot tub, relaxation room and steam room. My appointment was at 3, so I headed to the spa around 2:15. I was greeted by a really professional and friendly staff member who gave me a tour of the facilities. Totally not impressed. I guess I'm a bit spoiled by The Red Door in Richmond, which is beautiful and relaxing. This spa is like an afterthought. The 'relaxation' room had 2 magazines and room temperature water to make tea. I tried to heat the water (it was an electric kettle), but it didn't work. There were also used cups from the pretzels that were on offer. The massage room wasn't much better. It was right by the nail salon so during my entire massage I was treated to gossip from the staff. Not relaxing at all. They need to rethink the layout. On the good side, my massage was spot on. Randall was great about working on the kinks and did his best to help me relax. I brought my bathing suit with me thinking I'd take advantage of the facilities, but I just changed and bolted. This wasn't a real spa experience to me. It's a few rooms wedged into an area by the pool. Won't waste my hard-earned money on this spa again. I expect more from the Ritz-Carlton. read more

This is a spa I've visited regularly for the past two years. Each time, I've had awesome customer service. And, I've left super relaxed and happy. This time I had a body polish, but I've had a combo of body treatments. I've tried a few female therapists, and have narrowed down my list of repeats. Same with my preferred treatment room. I am a fan of the complimentary valet parking. Yummy sparkling wine. Adult only pool time (I'll only book a treatment during these hours). And the fact that if anything does not go as planned during your time (e.g., noise, which can be a problem due to layout), the front desk has always always made it right. Gabriella is the spa manager. She is very thoughtful, professional, and kind. I haven't ever had a bad interaction with her. She resolves any concerns right away and in a way that emphasizes genuine CRM (same with Amy). This is 1000% the biggest reason I am return guest. My last treatment there was a new front desk manager (Wafa). She was accommodating of my time slot change request. And was also kind and professional. Objectively speaking, I have mentioned a few times they have to do a better job of managing the noise. It may be they need to close/renovate the spa to change the layout and increase the size. Or, do something as simple as take the nail techs into a different (separate) part of the hotel as that noise can be super loud. As well, an upgrade to the waiting room in terms of beverages and snacks is definitely in order. I feel very comfortable sanitation wise (which is a big deal for me) and have not had any adverse effects to my skin or body. I may look for an alternate that offers a broader array of treatment types. But so far, this one best serves my needs. read more

While the pool area is nice, I expected more from such an expensive establishment. I was part of a bridal shower and we each got a 1 hr service. My first complaint is that they ran out of hand towels in the ladies' locker room, and you had to use a full sized towel. They really should be monitoring that more frequently. My second complaint is the walls are paper thin. In the room where I had my service, I could hear all sorts of noises and sounds from the next room. That's not relaxing at all. My third complaint is that the table in the room where I had my service didn't have an attachment for when you lay face down, so your face is pointing through the opening. Because of this, I had to lay my head sideways, and on a hard table with no pillow, it was very uncomfortable. My neck was hurting by the end. How can such an expensive place not think of something as basic as that?! My final complaint is the checkout process. I was asked by the gentleman checking me out if I would like to leave a 20% gratuity. Excuse me?! Isn't that MY personal decision and not any of your business?!!!! I have NEVER been asked that by a business. I was taken aback, but felt shamed into saying yes. And perhaps that is why he asked...that may be their way to get more 20% tips. The rudest attendant ever. After trying to get a hold of the spa for 7 days, I booked something online (whatever was available). Kept calling to ask to change because we don't get in until after 4 pm. The attendant kept interrupting me and not letting me finish my sentence. She finally cancelled my appointment because she couldn't find a slot for me. When I asked to be added on the waitlist- she said "this spa is not right for you" whatever the hell that means. Then proceeded to tell me there are 22 people ahead of me on the waitlist and she wouldn't even add me to the waitlist. You might be at the ritz, but your customer service is a big fat ZERO. This spa felt cramped in comparison to other Ritz spas. The technicians were pleasant and knowledgeable. Most annoying was being charged a 20% tip on the eye cream I purchased. No one answers the phone, no one returns voicemails left, and the hotel staff at the Ritz (including with a Club-level reservation) also fail to follow up after requests for assistance. The online booking on the website fails, sending you back to the homepage, but of course after you've gone through all the effort of entering all your information and clicking Submit. So much for an enjoyable anniversary spa weekend with my partner, as now, days after we left messages, the time slots we called about have been filled. Decided to do a staycation at the Ritz and wanted to really relax, so I booked a CBD/Hemp pedicure. This has, by far, been my best pedicure to date. They offer water, champagne, & apple cider. I opted for the apple cider and water. The waiting area wasn't anything special but it was quiet with calm music playing. Mona was very welcoming and accommodating. The CBD soak and hemp bar was put into the water while your feet soak. The tools used were new out of the package. Mona's attention to detail was very much appreciated! I love a good cuticle job and her exfoliation of my feet and legs were second to none. I appreciate the one on one feel versus feeling like you're on an assembly line at a regular nail salon. I'm local and will definitely be back for another pedicure. read more

Birthdays should be special. Since I'm a Leo, I have to go all out. Naturally, a relaxing, luxe spa filled with lion statues and mascots was the perfect place to take myself to. When I arrived, I mentioned something about how it was my birthday because the front desk asked how my day had been going. They popped open a bottle of champagne for me and handed me a glass, which was wonderful. I just wish they had known that based on the info I gave them beforehand :) Not to worry, because I was off to my pampering treatments. I put on a very plush robe and put my belongings away in one of the lockers. I was off to the relaxation room, where there was a multitude of tea, pretzels, and water. As others have commented, the room is pretty small, but luckily I realized I could just sit in the pool area between my first and second treatment - more on that in a bit. So my first treatment was a facial. Right beforehand, I tried out the steam and sauna rooms in the women's locker room so my pores were all open and ready for business! I had a decent experience with the facial, except that I was so hot the entire time. The bed I was on had heating pads or something on it and with the procedures that heated up my skin, my body temperature continued to rise to the point that I had a difficult time relaxing. The lady who did my facial even said at one point: "your skin is really flushed" yet never did anything about it or asked me if there was anything we could do to try to cool me down. It's also the middle of summer, so perhaps heated spa beds are not the best option for everyone - food for thought. I was pretty relieved just to have a break from feeling like I was on fire, and felt almost fidgety after being in the room under the lights and all for such a long period of time. My skin was looking nice and refreshed, but the lady who did my facial clearly didn't check my schedule because she said that she put sunscreen on my skin as the final step - yet I still had another treatment, a massage, in an hour, and it would be evening by that point. Also some bits of sunscreen were visible on my face which is pretty sloppy. Next, I had a long waiting period in between treatments, so I sat by the pool. It was completely empty except for a young girl who I assume was the lifeguard. She seemed like she wanted to be left alone and wandered in and out, but in all fairness the pool was not really being used at all. She must have been really bored - I know I would be. I went into the relaxation room when I was ready for my final treatment - the massage. The massage felt really great, but at one point I did tell the masseuse to deepen the pressure. I believe I fell asleep at one point. I left super relaxed! Once it was time for check out, I was told 20% gratuity had already been added to my bill. I simply said okay because I almost felt like I didn't have a choice in the matter. I'm not sure if this is for "convenience" but I would prefer being able to complete tip on my own. I've been to another Ritz spa and this one is pretty average, but it's definitely a special way to spend a birthday. read more

As an overtired mom I've been trying to figure where I can go to relax other than King Spa. I found this option on a blog which had a list of relaxing spas in northern Virginia. The description of this one sold me because of the relaxation lounge that was described so perfectly! The massages are exorbitant but I booked a manicure with a spa finder gift card (yeah Costco!!) which helped. Once I got there I fully expected there to be valet parking which there was. The valet guys were awesome and very helpful. As it was my first time there one of them offered to walk me up to the spa as i was told it was a bit hard to find the first time. And I agreed with that, the entrance from the valet parking is not where the front desk is located and the signs aren't that great or nonexistent. THEN when I finally got there I realized I forgot my phone in the car and had to go back to valet and they went and got my phone for me! I felt stupid but hey they definitely didn't make me feel bad for it. Onto the spa itself, overall I wasn't that blown away. The locker room was really nice but the pool area wasn't accessible through the locker rooms--you had to walk down a long hallway of closed massage room doors in your robe to get there. And then the relaxation lounge that I heard wonderful things about?? Um it was the waiting room and it was tiny. People were shuffling in and out with groups talking to each other, one loud woman on the phone talking to her daughter, the therapists coming in to whisk you away and just a LOT of people coming through with very little seating. There's no relaxation to be had in the relaxation lounge! I tried to then go to the pool area to relax but it was loud with a couple families and was super cold. Apparently that pool is also for guest use. Onto the nails--huge high fives for the service! I loved every minute of it. I really liked my nail tech and discovered she had come recently from Varnish Lane which is my new fave place for nails. She did an outstanding job and my nails were flawless. It seemed like architecturally they try to cram as many as possible into the spa. In the nail room itself there was a massage room and I could hear them talking in there. I'm sure they could hear us outside. It seems like the walls are paper thin and wouldn't make for a very quiet or relaxing massage, so this was another unfortunate takeaway. I will keep searching for my affordable and peaceful oasis! read more

Really enjoyed my massage here but I think the spa experience could be improved given how expensive it is. First off, I self parked and walked about a half mile (ok it was just a few minute walk but with the scorching heat it was painful) to get to the hotel. Later learned that valet parking is complimentary- but no one told me that?! The waiting room is a little strange - darkly lit and no water served. But my massage was excellent! Main complaint is that the music was loud and upbeat rather than soothing. I loved loved the rose oil that was used. Could smell it throughout the day. Learned that it's Nature's Oil. read more

Classy place with high quality foods and always superb service. Drinks are tops for our sapphire and tonics and a lovely Austrian while wine we enjoyed for 2 bottles while listening to the SAT jazz combo while sampling thru the menu. I think that was the best cheese and charcuterie tray ever! Snack nuts tray was fun. The wife was overwhelmed with all the perfect shrimp in the shrimp cocktail half went home for my late night snack. I enjoyed the beautifully presented crab cakes. Size was deceiving since they were so rich with crab meat and spicing I took 2 home for lunch today! Fabulous. The roasted tomatoes soup with outstanding Charcuturie tray and Austrian Gruener Veltliner white wine.. memorable. Must order it again next time. We were pleased to chat with acquaintances from Potomac MD who also follow Terry Lee Ryan music and equally slightly frustrated by the VA strict no dancing rile inside...outside in Potomac. They clearly enjoyed the martinis. I will be out of town next Saturday but already have plans on my return. read more

I received an 80-min customized facial here for my birthday... it was incredible. I had Ashley as my esthetician and she was great. I think my only complaint is that her nails were REALLY long and she wore plastic gloves, so it was a kind of weird sensation touching my face, but whatever. I loved all the products they used and my skin truly glowed afterward. They were running about 15 min late so I had to sit and wait for awhile, but someone brought me a glass of rose champagne and it was great to sit there in my fluffy robe and relax with a drink! The facial included a full scalp and neck massage too- amazing. My facial was a treat from my boss, but I know it was very pricey. It's definitely not something I could handle on a regular basis, but as a special occasion, this was the place to do it! I definitely recommend if you're looking for some pampering. read more

A day spa, especially at a hotel that prides itself on its reputation of luxury & comfort, should be an oasis for every visitor. The spa at the Ritz-Carlton, Tyson's Corner is not an oasis. In fact, it's very difficult to relax at all. The simple reason for this is the layout and design of the facility. The pool & hot tub, which is available for all guests of the hotel, has an entrance in the spa right next to the relaxation lounge and treatment rooms. This means that people, not necessarily guests of the spa, continuously walk through the spa facility to reach the pool, including loud children. The "relaxation" lounge itself is located right next to the salon & nail center, so you'll be unable to escape the sound of numerous conversations while you wait for your spa treatment. During my 80 minute massage, there was not a minute that passed that I did not overhear someone loudly walking past the treatment room, a full conversation taking place through the walls, or the sound of loud children splashing in the pool. At one point, I could hear a woman yelling angrily into her cell phone as she walked past my treatment room. The solution to this problem is simple - seclude the treatment rooms to a private area of the spa. It's impossible to relax with so many distractions in close vicinity. I would likely give this place leniency if the layout was the only problem, but the gentleman's locker room during my visit was quite a mess. There were numerous wet towels strewn across the floor and the shower (one of only two) that I used had a busted shower head and torn curtain. I tend to enjoy my time in the steam room & sauna before and after my spa treatment, but I could not escape this area of discomfort soon enough. I have visited other Ritz-Carlton spas and had enjoyable experiences. The Tyson's Corner location, however, does not live up to the famous hotel chain's reputation and thus cannot be recommended. read more

My husband bought me a much needed spa day at the Ritz for my bday. They called the night before to move my massage up 30 min and I knew I'd have to rush but I thought I could make it. I ended up being 10 mins late (I called and let them know of course) therefore my 80 minute massage was now 60 minutes. Totally understandable. Well then I went up front to tell them I had a pedicure after. The lady acted like she had no idea who I was or what I was talking about. She figured it out and told me to sit in the quiet room and they'd come get me. I sat there an hour and 15 min, 30 min past my appt time and no one ever came up and told me they were running behind. I decided to leave because at that point I was not willing to be there another hour regardless. No one ever called me or anything. When my husband called to request a refund they said oh yeah sorry she was running a "few minutes" behind. Then she simply stated well "you were never charged anyway." I was never once offered ANYTHING while I waited that entire time. What horrible customer service and zero professionalism. The massage itself was great though, they had that 1 thing going for them. The rooms dedicated for massage are adjacent to loud talking by the customers getting their nails done. The waiting room is curtains hung around that loud area. Locker rooms are crowded small spaces. Showers messy and in disrepair. Clearly management wants out of the spa business - not recommended. read more

I took a colleague to the Ritz Spa in Tyson's as a thank you for work she had done for me and I wanted to spoil her. I have been to many spas over the years and I am familiar with well run seamless service and this was not that. At best it was adequate but nothing special. I was terribly disappointed by my experience at the spa. From the booking and scheduling issues (Amy) to the average services it is not what the Ritz should be proud of. The spa is also looking very tired and needs some attention. I received a therapeutic massage and an 80 min facial and both were nothing special. Given the significant price tags associated with their services and their average skill sets I can not recommend the Ritz Carlton Spa in Tysons. There are many other options with better services available in the Washington DC area one should seek. The entire experience was a letdown. I will not be back. read more

My sister planned an overnight getaway and she was initially supposed to take her daughter, but due to unforeseen circumstances, she ended up taking me-lucky me! We stayed at The Ritz Carlton and had a spa day scheduled for the next morning at check out. I called the Ritz Spa twice on Thursday to have her daughter's reservation replaced with mine. I specified that I was only interested in having a facial and I asked the spa staff to send me an email confirming these changes. The email that was sent to me specified that my sister would be having a massage at 12pm, and a facial at 1pm. I would be having a facial at 1:30pm. We decided to go to the mall at 10:15am to get some shopping in before our appointments. We were in the Macy's dressing room when my sister received a call from the Ritz Spa notifying her that she was late for her 11am appointment, and reminding her that I had an appointment for a massage at 12pm. My sister rushed over to the spa to make it for her appointment and I was left to hurry up and purchase my items, go to the our hotel room, check out and make it to my appointment (for a massage that I never requested). When I arrived at the spa, I was greeted by the front desk staff who kindly showed me around the facility. The locker room is stocked with bath robes, waterproof sandals, combs, razors, toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodorant, shampoo, conditioner, and bath towels. I quickly put my stuff away, as my appointment was coming up in five minutes, I put my bath robe and slippers on and heading to the relaxation room where I was told that I would be greeted by the massage therapist. The relaxation room was stocked with magazines, a variety of tea, pretzel bites, apples, and water. I did notice that the relaxation room was not regularly stocked while we were there and there was a dead bug under the coffee table, showing signs of a lack of cleanliness or attention to detail. My massage was fantastic. My therapist had mastered the perfect amount of attentiveness to my needs, while not speaking too much to disrupt my relaxation. I headed back to the locker room after my massage to put on my bathing suit and try the sauna and jacuzzi. The pool area seems a bit outdated, but the jacuzzi was nonetheless soothing. After about 30 minutes in the jacuzzi, I headed back to the relaxation room to wait for my facial. My facial was fantastic and I really felt like the esthetician paid close attention to my requests. I had the European facial and a peel done. The esthetician was nice enough to recommend drugstore brands that were within my budget and create a daily regimen that was attainable for me. A few days later, I still have some peeling and scratches on my face from extractions, but nothing that won't be gone by the end of the week. My sister and I met back up in the relaxation room, and we had intended to go back to the jacuzzi, but a bus full of high school students using the pool, loudly, disrupted those plans. I feel really badly for the massage therapist I had. The gentleman who gave me the massage was great. Perfect pressure, very relaxing massage. The ambiance though was terrible, completely not the gentleman's fault but I bet it impacts his tips and repeat business. My treatment room was right in the middle of the nail salon area. I could hear loud talking, laughing and walking my entire time in the room. The relaxation room was cramped and tiny. I expect better from a Ritz experience. read more

The massage was alright, but the room they had me in was near where they do pedicures and manicures. I could hear all this talking and also screaming as if it were children during my massage. That took away from it being relaxing. Also I got my massage from a special the Ritz had through travel zoo. The price of the special was $129 for a 50 min massage. After purchasing, I found out once I got my voucher and went to the spa a required service fee of $29 I had to pay once I got there! So in reality it isn't a special of $129... you truly end up paying $158 for this service. Honestly very disappointing, especially for a place like the Ritz.... read more

Save your time and go somewhere else. Not only did they mix up my booking with my wife they over charged me. I've taken this up with them several times and now will have to file a claim with my credit card. The facilities are nice but I didn't even get my services. Worst spa experience ever. The pricing would indicate that this would be a very high end spa and spa experience. The shower has black mold growing in every grout line. The spa is basically in the basement and has not been updated since the hotel was built many years ago. It is tired and grungy. The facial was ridiculously bad and did absolutely nothing for my skin. When I got back to the room, I had to peel sticky residue off my cheeks and my upper lip. All this luxury for 50 minutes costs a whopping $290 + an automatic 20% gratuity. Honestly I was a bit disappointed with this splurge on my part. I am a student and yeah, maybe spending $300+ on myself in the middle of the school year wasn't so smart...but I'm stressed out!! I also sort of got this vibe that I wasn't good enough to be there...sorry I don't appear to be your usual rich elite clientele (I'm not, I drive a beat up Accord and cry into tissues, not money, but don't look down on me because of it!) I really wanted to treat myself and figured that this would be the place to do it. I ended up getting the Invigorate Package which includes a spa pedi, mani, petite facial, and 50 minute massage. The nail technician was really nice, but maybe a bit too chatty and I'm really not good at telling people to be quiet. She did an excellent job on my feet, but my mani felt a bit rushed because we were behind schedule. The facial was so worth it! I was totally relaxed and my skin felt awesome afterwards. I would definitely recommend this and go back.The esthetician talked to me about what products to use which was great. I think the best part was when she put the warm towel over my neck and face and it felt like a super cozy cocoon...just go, seriously you'll see what I mean. The massage would have been really great, but they put me in the room right next to the locker room. I'm sorry guys, but when I can hear the sound of blowdryers over the calming music, it's not relaxing or therapeutic...it makes me irritated. The masseuse did a great job, but this totally ruined my night. I guess I'm just bummed that I spent what is a lot of money for me, but ended up feeling rushed and unsatisfied about the noise during the massage. I've heard nothing but great things about this spa, however it's not worth it. My massage therapist was good, I needed a little more pressure. But overall he was good. The ambience is a joke, not his fault at all. My room was located near the nail spa and down from the pool. All I could hear was kids crying, laughing, two ladies talking about a fabulous wedding I wish I went to. After complaining, I was told it's better to come during the weekdays when it's not as crowded. Make sense. However, the layout/floor plan should have been adjusted for customer experience verses what it is. The front desk person was helpful and plans to setup me up with another appointment for half off. Hopefully it's a lot better on a Thursday evening verses a Saturday evening. read more

Fariba is the greatest nail technician in Tysons. I have been all over, trying out other places because they were so much cheaper or she was unavailable, but you get what you pay for and she's worth the wait. Her attention to detail is awesome. She never puts too much polish on (a fatal flaw in a gel manicure; the excess pools on the sides or at the bottom) and always brushes the edges of the nail, effectively sealing it up so it doesn't snag or chip on anything. I have been to her twice, once for a dark color in the winter and now for a very light pink, and look forward to going again. read more

I so hate to do this because I love the Ritz Carlton but the spa room where I had my treatment was in the changing room, beside the bathroom. I could hear the toilet flushing throughout my entire massage which is so very distracting and un-relaxing. I had the 80 min massage so with the automatic gratuity, it was about $250 which is steep for a massage in my opinion that was in the bathroom. They have lots of amenities, pool, gym, sauna, steam room, and of course, the Ritz Carlton staff. I still have money left on my gift card so Im going to give it another chance but tell them I cant do the bathroom. read more

I received a gift card to the Ritz Spa and was so excited to enjoy their facilities that I took a day off from work to book a pedicure and massage. The facility was smaller than I expected, but clean and elegant. They had nice amenities, like fresh fruit, hot tea, and toiletries available for guests. The pedicure was standard, nothing really to write home about. The massage unfortunately was quite a disappointment. The massage room was freezing cold and the table warmer happened to be broken. My massage therapist tried to warm up the room by turning off the overhead fan and putting a heating pad on my back, but I was so damn cold that I shivered throughout my entire session. It's really not worthwhile to pay their hefty prices to be miserably cold throughout the entire experience. I ultimately will not be back. The spa has a lot of hype, but the quality just isn't there. I wanted to leave feeling pampered and relaxed and really just left annoyed, cold, and wishing I hadn't spent so much money. I should've used the face value of the gift card to get my nails done, as coming out of pocket for the massage was a waste of money. read more

Apparently there's a difference in the value of a dollar. For a 5 star hotel, this Ritz fell short in every way. The front desk "manager" Nathan had no customer service and no integrity. With platinum elite status you are entitled to upgrades when available. This junior representative didn't have a warm greeting when we entered, only told us our room was being "deep cleaned" without informing us of room type, etc. our check in time was an hour after our scheduled check in time. We had a long flight and just wanted to unwind. There was not much tolerance for us waiting several more hours for our room. I had 3 little ones with me. I think Nathan missed the course on hospitality. Ritz kids? What Ritz kids? It was quite sad that a mother came and offered to help because my son was so tired and the staff at the Ritz was indifferent to me trying to check in with a screaming kid. There was awfully loud construction in the parking garage aswell as in the front of the hotel. The children were sleeping and were startled by the noise when we arrived. It would have been nice if they had advertised that this hotel accommodates business travelers instead of all travelers. They need to also update their amenities list and overall how they treat their customers. It seems that this is the general sentiment with snooty receptionists and little care for hospitality. When I asked the GM what hospitality is for this hotel he seems confused by the question. Yikes! There are plenty of great hotels in the area. Stay somewhere else. read more
