Fast forward to today, May 31st -- the day of my private hot yoga birthday party -- I finally had the opportunity to meet Abby in person, and she was just as amazing, caring, and welcoming as she had been over email. I loved how she took the time to learn everyone's first name and greeted each guest personally. She was attentive throughout the session, noticing when some of my guests were getting too hot and thoughtfully adjusting the temperature. She was also very accommodating to two of my guests, which I truly appreciated. What stood out most was how she created a space where we could be ourselves, have fun, bring our energy, and still stay connected to the yoga flow. They have masking tape on the floor to guide you since space is limited. The class was busting at the seams but somehow we were all able to focus & get into our individual practice. I appreciated the diverse bodies in class & the instructor was outstanding. Reminding us to be breathe, drink water, be patient with our bodies, and providing alternate poses based on your ability. Everyone is welcomed here. This studio doesn't have the elitest feel of other studios. Additionally, towels & mats are available for rent. I recommend bringing your own along with your hydration. They offer several packages based on your budget & how frequently you plan to work with this community of yogis.

They really take the time to emphasize that every person is different and only you know what is best for yourself. As others have noted, she pays great attention to your alignment, which is very important as doing yoga improperly can cause problems, especially in the knee and wrist. She is good at remembering individual limitations and injuries and reminds you to modify or pass if a particular move is not right for you. I am still on the initial Groupon trial, but am liking it very much. I have taken the Sat 1045 vinyasa class, which seems to be popular. Each Saturday there are a few more Groupon newbies, so sometimes Margaret modifies to accommodate, but you still get a great class. This is a good class and can be a reasonable "power yoga" workout if you are properly putting all your muscles into it. If you want more of a challenge for flexibility and advanced poses, and strength, then try the Ashtanga offering - there will be a lot fewer people too (or certainly fewer once you get invited to the intermediate Ashtanga class.) I have not tried the Vinyasa flow "experienced", I suspect that is a more rigorous class than the Sat Open Vinyasa. Hmm, sounds like a plan. The studio is small, but adequate, you don't need a big, fancy health club to do good yoga, I suspect the opposite is true. I like the plants in the front of the room, they add a pleasant touch. Some have complained about the door buzzer, I can understand that. So next time you buzz in, why don't you hang out at the door and let the next person in so there is one less buzz ;-) Pay it forward, when you are let it, hang at the door for the next person or until the studio opens for class. If everyone did that, there would only be one buzz a class. Easy street parking. May 2013 Update: went back and took the Vinyassa "Variation" class today and enjoyed it. Margaret has decided to mix Vinyassa up a bit. This month she is concentrating on arm balances. Aug 2014 Update: after about 6 flow classes I was invited to Primary Ashtanga, which I instantly loved. It is the same routine every week, which is prep for the next Ashtanga, which is prep for the next... So it is not for everyone, but if you also want a "power" yoga workout, you can really push yourself on this and make it very hard. You will need an invite, please don't just show up if you have never practiced it before! Note to Ashley: Margaret has addressed your concerns and the class start and stop time are much more exact . You are correct, it not appropriate for a dog to wander around, so dogs are no longer permitted.

Not only she has a deep knowledge of movements and physiology and the experience to go with it but she also goes the extra mile for her clients. She genuinely seems to love what she does and is very good at it. I benefitted a lot after the session and the pain was significantly reduced after just one class and I felt great over all. The studio is simple and low key, that works for me as long as the classes are good. I wish the session would not end at 6 weeks and would go on longer.

I've struggled with diet and exercise my whole life; my weight has fluctuated an embarrassing amount. When I first joined, I got winded climbing a flight of stairs. I was so deeply unhappy, and so ashamed of my fitness level that the whole prospect of setting foot in a gym was intimidating. I hated the thought of joining one of those large chain-gyms; I knew I needed more accountability. But Foundation Fitness is a small, community-oriented fitness center with a SPECTACULAR, non-judgmental team that will push and inspire you. Each of their trainers offers their own arena of expertise - Collin is exceptional in mobility and functional fitness, Amber will give you the best HIIT workout of your life, Angelo builds award-winning power-lifters, and Steven is a *phenomenal* weight-lifting/body sculpting coach. Whenever I show up, I feel welcomed, seen, and encouraged. (It's sort of like my inner high school nerd is hanging out with all the jocks, and they're being really nice to me??) The environment is always fun, even during the most grueling workouts. Some days we'll listen to 70s rock music, other times it might be DJ mixes or top hits. I've never met another gym-goer I didn't like; everyone is great. The aspect I love the very most about this gym is that I see clients of every age, body type, race, ethnicity, and ability; Foundation Fitness doesn't just preach community - they live it. Each of the trainers is friendly and fun, but also a consummate professional. The level of engagement and attentiveness I receive during my workouts is unsurpassed by any trainer I've ever had before, and I can see and feel the results. The trainers help build the foundation and give you the tools to continue your fitness outside of the gym. Nutrition coaching is included, as is an app you can link to MyFitnessPal, Apple Watch, Garmin, etc. I'll add that I did some price shopping in the area before I joined Foundation Fitness, and I found their rates to be extremely competitive, if not better than most. In terms of the facility itself, it's small - a couple of treadmills and other cardio machines, four separate rack stations, and all the standard training equipment (free weights, kettlebells, etc.). You're expected to arrive early and do at least 30 minutes of warm-up and stretching before your session. There isn't a locker room here (although there are bathrooms in the building), so this works best if you're able to shower/change at home. Also, the gym is intended for group or one-on-one training sessions; while you can technically show up and do cardio on your own, this isn't like standard gyms where you can just come and do weights whenever. If you're even considering joining a gym or working with a trainer, you won't find a better fit - I promise you. In about 3 months (with some hard work in and outside of the gym), I lost approx. 25 lbs and 10% of my body fat while building muscle. The compliments are nice, having clothes fit *so* much better is great, but nothing beats how I feel - happier, stronger, and hopeful. Joining Foundation First is one of the best things I've ever done for myself - ever.

We had almost 20 children from 2.5 to 8 and everyone had a great time. I highly recommend Feels Like Om Yoga. My two children have also attended a class with Erin. They are 3 and 6 and she was easily able to tailor her instructions for both of my children and the others in the class to give them all an excellent experience. We will be going back and I am looking forward to trying an adult class.
