My husband and I came here during our weekend away. I love some good Korean food and try to find a spot wherever we go, we found this one place. Walking in we were greeted promptly and sat at a table, there was only 1 server at the time and it was a bit busy for 1. We started off with some kimchi pancakes (or kimchi jeon) as an appetizer. I was not impressed at all. The pancakes were mostly batter that didn't seem cooked very thoroughly but they must've been because they were pretty thin. I'm used to a thicker filled pancake. The dipping sauce that came with it was really good though. As meals: I ordered the budae jjigae (aka army stew ramen), again I was disappointed. The ramen overall was overcooked and the broth really lacked flavor and spice. I didn't get a lot of rice cakes in it or really notice the pork in it, mainly the spam and tofu. My husband got the dark galbi, I tasted his and it was ok; Nothing to praise or complain about. The side dishes (or ban chans) were lacking and got a very small amount. Also, toward the end of our meal, I did notice the person that made my dish, blow her nose and then not wash her hands... so just based on that I probably won't be back. I really wanted to like this place but over all the flavor, depth and balance. Maybe it was the dishes I ordered, maybe not? Our server was super nice and present, so that's a plus!

For Charlottesville VA I thought this place was refreshing to find. The dining area was clean and nice. Came here for lunch so it wasn't crowded. Expensive as usual for Korean food. Seafood pancake was probably better than the Galbi. I felt like it was quick marinade so the flavor wasn't there 100%. A lil burnt flavor as well but that could be from under marination. I agree with the other reviewer this place is Americanized. The banchan was like 6 bean sprouts and 4 pieces of kimchi haha. I would revisit though.

I am totally spoiled by all kinds of korean foods at Los Angeles Korea town. Surprisingly, I had the best sundubu ( soft tofu) soup here at Doma. Great, authentic sundubu soup! If I can, I want to give 10 stars for it. My kids had kimchee fried rice and kimchee soup, and they loved them too.

Doma is a UVA/Charlottesville stable! Having eaten here for almost 3 years now, I have never had a bad experience here. My personal favorites have always been the Kimchi Fried Rice with Chicken and Cheese, Tteokbokki, and the various flavors of wings. Not to mention the various Soju flavors they have paired excellent with the dishes! On this visit, I've tried the Korean BBQ Plate with beef and banchan including kimchi, onions, and soup. Delicious, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. The meat was tender and not too salty. Highly recommend! The restaurant is clean and has such a friendly, helpful staff. Always so welcoming and ensure you get exactly what you came for! Be sure to check out Doma next time you are in Cville!

My friends and I got dinner here, and it was great! We all really enjoyed our meals. Be prepared to street park if you want to eat here (fyi!!). Definitely would recommend coming here!

The food here is pretty solid, the service was kinda slow and could use a little work. Ambiance is cute inside and overall it's a decent spot for Korean food in cville. We had the fruit slushees and they were all decent. For entrees I had the kimchi jjigae soup and it was solid. Not the best I've had but spicy and still pretty good. Portion sizes and prices are all decent here. I'd come back again.

Food - 4, Service and Ambiance - n/a as we did take out. I got the Doma Bokum Udon with seafood. It was fine. I thought some of the seafood was tough (the squid in particular) and the shrimp was a little mushy, and I felt it could have been flavored better (more garlic?). The udon part was fine, and I like the vegetables in it, but felt the sauce was not flavorful enough for my liking. I got the Doma sweet soy sauce flavoring, and while yes it was sweet, it wasn't overly sweet (a good thing), but it just lacked umph in the flavor profile. Seemed one dimensional. Could have used a little more salt, and a hint of a spice (just a sprinkle of gochugaru?) to give it more dimension. It was good enough, so I give it a 4, but it wasn't anything to rave about. I had a bite of the pork belly as well and thought it was a little tough and again felt like it could have been more flavorful (more garlic).

Visited Charlottesville for the weekend and this was my favorite place! The staff was super nice and the decorations were very aesthetic. The decorations were very homey and cozy. The food was the star, each dish had a lot of flavor and the portion sizes didn't skimp. The restaurant was busy so you could tell it's popular! Tip: if you get rice in a stone pot, I would suggest to mix the bowl once in a while. Since the stone pot is so hot, it stays hot for a while and will continue cooking the food and rice so the rice may get over cooked and hard.

This place has alright food for a decent price. I guess if you want Korean food around the area your options are limited. I didn't like the fact that they were being cheap with banchan and they were also not good either. Kimchi was alright and the pancakes were doughy. I would just drive to DC for some Korean food at this point ‍

This is a great place to get Korean food in the Charlottesville area! I have both eaten in the restaurant and ordered takeout from here, and the food has been consistently good. The service was good, and I thought the restaurant was super nice and pretty spacious. I usually order the barbecue plate with spicy pork, and I love the sides that come with it (like the kimchi and pickled radish), but I wish they gave more of them. The spicy pork has very good flavor, and it goes well with the ssam dip. I thought it was well cooked as well. This is one of the places I have consistently returned to in Charlottesville, and I would recommend it if you are looking for solid Korean food!

We were in Charlottesville for a concert and love Korean food... so decided to try DOMA. Atmosphere was super inviting and clean. We were seating right away when arriving at 5:15 on a Friday. Service was ok... took a bit to get our order in but once it was in food came out super quickly. One draw back... every time someone walked behind my chair the floor shook and that meant the table did too. Now onto food. Decided to try some things we've never seen at other Korean restaurants. Starters were TTEOK GALBI - just ok, the chicken meatball had very little flavor unfortunately. MANDU my teen said we're the only thing she would get again. We got TEOKKOCHI with soy garlic and they really needed more sauce. KIMMARI were ok but could have been better if rice noodles weren't mushy, dipping sauce was great. We then shared the beef DOMA KOREAN BBQ PLATE and it was ok. Meat pieces were very small but good flavor. My teen said it felt a bit dry. I would maybe give it a second attempt but try other things, maybe something with some spice.

Even before moving to Charlottesville, I was looking for a Korean restaurant since I love the food! Heard that Doma was the best and I was finally able to try it!! I ordered a lot of different foods and I'm obsessed!! The Toppoki is amazing, loved the kimmari, bibimbap! Everything! I'm sure I'm going to back!

I would say in general the food is pretty high quality probably a 4-5/5 stars but the staffs friendly service definitely makes this a 5 star experience to dine here. Our server was personable and friendly and did an awesome job. The hosts were also very nice and someone else working I think likely the manager came to check on us as well and everyone was so so nice. We felt so welcomed. The service definitely takes it up a notch. The ambiance is modern and trendy and feels elevated. My partner noted how cute all of the utensils and bowls were lol. For the food we got the combination A for 2 which is basically just like the cheapest combo option for 2 people. We hadn't been before so we didn't feel the need to try something with more bells and whistles yet but likely would in the future. The combo A comes with 4 meats that are cooked one after another. You're served all your sides to start and the server can refill these while you eat. For two people, it is a LOOOTT of food. The banchans included broccoli (3/5) just kinda plain), pickled daikon (4/5), pickled collared greens (5/5), kimchi (2/5 - sorry, I like mine spicier!!), cucumber kimchi (4/5), pickled bean sprout (5/5) - and that's on top of the steamed rice, salad (5/5), egg soufflé (4/5), stew (5/5) and cheese corn (5/5). As you can tell, the majority of the sides were unbelievably delicious and well prepared. Each side is made in house and really only the broccoli felt kinda plain and even that had some sort of sesame oil on it. So none of the sides are just plain veggies you're getting fully seasoned carefully crafted food and LOTS of it. As for the meats, we thought they were quite good and went from our least favorite to our most. We started with the thinly sliced fatty beef brisket which, to be honest, was quite dry and a bit flavorless. It wasn't terrible but definitely was just kinda meh and needed the sauces they provided to elevate the flavor. This was maybe a 2-3/5. The next meat was the fatty pork belly. This was a 4/5. I don't LOVE pork belly as it is but to be honest this was seasoned and cooked quite well and I enjoyed it. The next two meats were totally amazing. The pork collar was my absolute favorite. Our server let us know that it can be a hard meat to cook and he did a fabulous job with it. Whatever the marinade was took it over the top and this came out perfectly tender, flavorful, and SUPER juicy! 10/5. I could eat this all day it was so good. The last meat was the spicy bulgogi and it was a 5/5. I loved it and my partner who is spice sensitive also liked it. A note on the spicy food - my partner cannot tolerate spice (yt man problems) and there were a number of things that did or could include spice. The only thing he couldn't eat because of spice issues was the spicy soy paste stew. Everything else (spicy bulgogi, kimchi, etc) was tolerable. So if you're worried about the spice level, don't be. The sauces provided were not spicy either. So, as far as the food went, we were very impressed. We also ordered drinks - I had pear juice which was kinda just 3/5. I didn't expect pulp so that's on me. My partner had the royal court cocktail. 5/5. This was pear with black tea and some spices and it was amazing! I couldn't keep eating it was so much food but my boyfriend didn't want to leave unless we tried dessert lol. So the server recommended the tiramisu and my boyfriend raised his eyebrows at me. This is one of my all time favorite desserts and so I am quite picky. The server said they make a Korean version with soy bean paste mochi and some other alterations. I was pretty skeptical because again I am super picky about traditional tiramisu as it is and I just in general don't love sweet stuff. This tiramisu I am not kidding it is a 10/5. This might be one of the best desserts I've ever had. I didn't really care for the mochi on top but the almond topping combined with the tiramisu was amazing. It has just the right amount of savory in the sweetness, the texture was perfect and the espresso flavor was nice and strong. Totally amazing. Our server told us that the servers who work here love it so much they had to be banned from buying it on their shifts because they would run out so often and I see why! I will dream about this dessert for many days to come... For two people with the combo drinks and dessert it came to about $150ish with taxes and tip. Totally worth it imo. It's definitely a nicer night out at the price point but you will not be disappointed. I am SO excited for the next time we come back! Thank you Bulpan for your awesome food and service - we are looking forward to forward to dining with you again. 감사합니다!
