One of my favorite places in town, great for special occasions. Lots of meat and some seafood options, not to mention being all-you-can-eat. (There's some vegetarian options but I personally want to get my money's worth!) Always left very full and very pleased. Service is good and smooth with waiters available or at least easy to flag down. The ambiance is fine. A little loud between the grill at your table and the other tables' activities, but the sheer quantity of food that you can consume makes up for it. read more

If you're looking for authentic kbbq, I wouldn't recommend this place. The service was great and our server was attentive to our needs. The drinks were very good as well! We were pretty disappointed that we didn't get any banchan except kimchi and rice. Our favorite cuts of beef were the bulgogi and hanger steak. There were three of us ordering, and the portions were pretty small. We did enjoy the sauce bar and they did include ready to eat foods like takoyaki and vegetable spring rolls that were good as well. It was an okay spot, but probably won't be visiting again :( read more

First time at Seoul Restaurant this Monday with my sons, and it delivered. The food was outstanding, but the real draw is the experience--hands-on, lively, and just plain fun. Easily one of the best times I've had eating out in a long while. One heads-up: keep your group to three or less. Parking lot is moderate size so no issue finding a parking space. After being seated we decided to go with just the BBQ option but you can have both bbq and hotpot. The meat quality was only decent but not high grade. The mango smoothie tasted pretty good. Our waiter was nice and did check in from time to time but our cooking grill was getting black and he didn't change it out. I see other waiter who are proactively changing out other customer cooking grill. All in all, this place was just ok and I don't see us coming back here again in the future. read more

Did someone say AYCE dinner for $31.99 pp? Was I disappointed? Absolutely not. Don't limit yourself to just the Korean bbq, you can get the hotpot, too! We came at 6pm on a Friday and were sat immediately. The restaurant was busy, but I'm kind of glad as it was my first time here, and a local kindly gave me the rundown when in line for sauces. Staff were super quick to bring items out (pick 5 at a time) and quick to clean up. You really can't go wrong with KBBQ, unless you've never been before --you're the one cooking! What a fun experience! My friend and I literally tried almost one of everything off the menu. We did not partake in he hotpot, just the BBQ. Our waitress was friendly, but she did not seem really enthusiastic to be at work. The meats were tender and well seasoned. The veggies were fresh, and everything was well presented. Cooking at the table was an added bonus to yummy food. I'll be back. I hope I get a server who's a little more into the food they serve next time. No pictures of food. We were recommended this place and are so glad we gave it a try! My partner is on a diet, so we were looking for something fun but still on the healthier side--and the all-you-can-eat hot pot was perfect. Everything was fresh and flavorful, and we felt satisfied after just two rounds. I also tried the passionfruit soju mule, and wow--such a fabulous cocktail! For dessert, we went with boba and were pleasantly surprised when a little robot delivered it to our table. Definitely gave us a laugh. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, the service was great, and the price was very reasonable for what you get. Bonus points for cleanliness--I even checked under the hot plate and it was spotless, which really matters to me. Controlled chaos cuisine. Korean BBQ-- long absent from C'ville-- is here, with gusto. You get a mass of food, all at once. One Price for a feast. Choose a certain number of appetizers, choose your hotpot soup base (spicy= good), your 5 meats and or vegetables, and.... your two items for BBQ(soicy bulgogi and short ribs). The menu is reminiscent of the giant laminated delis of Miami, gone past. Luckily, our Virgil, 'Owen' was a super guide for all. Then, a flood of dishes arrive at once and you are cooking, boiling, poaching, bbq-ing, replenish dip sauces, etc. It's an active dinner. It's certainly different from, say, the Korean BBq of fairfax, or seoul-- business adjusted to match the food for all (you can eat) appetites. We could absolutely not imagine getting more food that first round (and we skipped the appetizers). Lotta food. Lotta good. Best with a gang, to fill your booth. Finally. If you are looking for looking for good quality meats, great banchans, a waiter that cooks for you then this is not your spot. Seoul Korean has amazing service, the waiters were so nice and attentive. Everything else about this place did not do it for me. They had the most random banchans, not the usual that you would get at an authentic Korean restaurant. Their kimchi was yellow instead of orange, I didn't even bothering tasting it cause I was terrified. My partner said it was "okay" Btw, all the side dishes are self served. The meat quality was so bad. I will say their marinated meats were flavorful. The rice wasn't sticky and it looked like old rice based on the appearance and how hard it was on the surface. It looked like rice that has been exposed to open air for a while. I also didn't eat bother eating that. The waiter doesn't cook for you which some people might not mind but I prefer someone to cook at an AYCE, so I can actually enjoy my food.. especially if I'm going to pay $33 per person. Extremely disappointed by this restaurant, and will not be returning. We showed up at 9:06pm after driving for 20 minutes. No one was at the kiosk when we arrived, but there were a few workers seated at the bar a few feet away who saw us but then ignored us. When someone did acknowledge us, we were told that they wouldn't be seating us because their kitchen closes at 9:30, and "no servers will want to help you." When we pointed out that all their advertising material says they close at 10, and that it was only 6 minutes past 9pm, they said their policy is actually to stop seating at 9pm. This is nowhere to be found on their website. The restaurant was practically empty (with only one table of diners), and I think I understand why. To the owners: If you're not going to take customers an hour before you close, please adjust your hours so people don't waste their time trying to dine at your restaurant. read more

Seoul Korean is a duel unique dining experience with the grill top and hot pot table options. Although, the prices are higher the amount of food you get is unbelievable. The service was great and the waitress was very knowledgeable of the menu. The restaurant had a modern feel to it as far as decor and the atmosphere. New restaurant in Charlottesville. Nice location & great ambiance. Customer service is good and food is delivered quickly. The food is 8/10. The only downfall to this is you're only allowed 5 items at a time from each of the menu. If you have a big appetite, this can feel as if you're limited. I was very excited to see the signage for this place a year or so ago! Cville FINALLY has a Korean BBQ and hot pot restaurant! I really enjoyed the service, food, and atmosphere. For those who are open-minded and adventurous and haven't tried Korean BBQ (that's cooked at the table) and hot pot, this could be a super fun lunch or dinner with friends and family. From what I overheard, the waitstaff did a great job explaining the menu to people who haven't tried something like this before. My waitress, Li, was super attentive and patient. I think the food selection can be overwhelming at times - it sure comes out fast though! I got the Sichuan spicy broth and it had real Sichuan peppercorns. As someone who has lived in Cville for years in an Asian food food desert , it was so nice to be able to see such a large selection of authentic Asian flavors, veggies, and food items. My SO got the pork bone broth (not spicy) and really enjoyed it. To maybe make it a little less intimidating, here's what I would recommend for a starter hot pot (just from what we've tried) Soup base: Sichuan spicy (it's SPICY and numbing) or pork bone broth (mild) Sliced meat: slicked pork belly, prime brisket Meat sides: Shrimp dumplings, fish meatballs, fish roe ball, fish cake Seafood: Squid and shrimp Veggies: Watercress, bok choy, bean sprouts, any mushroom (including black fungus, but my fave is enoki), lotus root Soy Bean (aka tofus): any of them! Noodles & Rice: Ramen noodles are a classic, but rice cake is too Ready to eat: Don't forget these!! And my favorite sauce from the sauce area: soy sauce, sesame oil, scallions, garlic and chili oil (which this place did not have!). PLEASE add some chili oil to the sauce area! As for the Korean BBQ, I don't think there's a right or wrong choice for the meats and sides. I do think that there is a learning curve if you've never cooked the meat yourself before. A lot of KBBQ places in NoVA or EC will have someone help you cook and cut the meat. I think it can get a little overwhelming to manage the grill and hot pot. My feedback for the restaurant is, bring back the hotpot OR kbbq options please (instead of making it hotpot AND kBBQ)! Next time I'm here, I probably will focus on hot pot instead of kbbq - even if I'm paying for both. I thought the KBBQ was just fair in quality, and it's a lot of work too. I honestly would prefer the other Korean places in town where they prepare bulgolgi or kalbi for you already to grilling it myself. Just my two cents. I do think that this place could be vegetarian friendly. There are so many veggies, starches, and mushrooms on the menu that vegetarians can definitely feel full! And a quick note on the interior - I loved how clean and modern the inside was! I loved the little KidRobot-esque figurines all around. I loved the ventilation system - which even some of the best places in NoVA and EC don't have. I applaud the restaurant for taking feedback from the Google reviews about instituting a more structured waitlist system (it's now via phone/text). I will definitely be back with friends. Absolutely amazing! For $33/person u can have unlimited steak, chicken, calamari, salmon, shrimp, mussels, soup-you name it! I would compare it to the melting pot, except better as you can get every selection of meat you want with unlimited servings! Just make sure you do not leave too much food left over-as they do charge if there is a lot of wasted meat-and no to-go boxes allowed. Alcoholic drinks and boba tea were amazing as well and reasonably priced. My one request- add a sweet sauce like chocolate or caramel for the donut sticks! read more

So excited for finally have a Korean BBQ and hot pot spot in cville!! We came around 5:30 on a Friday and we're able to be seated without a reservation. Each place setting has its own hot pot heater and then the bbq grill is in the middle. The dinner options were extensive for both the hot pot and kbbq side of things with options ranging from bulgogi to pork belly to shrimp. Definitely be careful of how much you order to stare, because we overdid it a bit. I would recommend starting with kbbq and then switching over to hotpot so you can focus on one at a time and get the right amount of meats. Everything tasted very high quality. We could have used a little more instruction on how to cook the meats for the kbbq, but I think mostly figured it out. For $32 a person for AYCE, this was an awesome spot and we will definitely be back, with friends, in the near future! read more

Best Korean BBQ and hotpot in Charlottesville! After so much anticipation (how long was that "coming soon" sign hanging up??) this place did not disappoint! Our family went when it first opened and have noticed that they cut down on number of items offered on their menu. However, there are still plenty of choices! We love that in addition to the incredible bbq everyone gets their own soup base for personal hotpot. Our favorite item is the beef short rib! A much needed addition to the Cville food scene - now you don't need to travel out of town to get your KBBQ/hot pot fix! TLDR: reasonable price for AYCE and a fun experience - better with a group of people! I don't have much other korean BBQ experience to compare to, but this place was solid in my books. The menu was expansive and with a group of friends, you can certainly diversify your ordering to try a bunch of different proteins/topping for both the bbq and hot pot! We made a reservation for early Sunday evening which was perfect and I definitely recommend - especially if coming with a group and if you are trying to beat any dinner time traffic. By the time we left, there was an hour+ wait and a large group of people waiting outside the restaurant. Service was very reasonable at the time of our visit - quick and courteous. We did not feel any pressure to finish up our meal quickly and felt like the overall pace of ordering and getting food was appropriate. read more

So we went here twice while on our four day excursion in Palmyra. (Half an hour to get to Charlottesville from our hotel.) It was totally worth the drive both times. $34 bucks per person gets you unlimited hot pot and bbq. Let's break it down. Atmosphere: Very casual, loud, and upbeat. (Maybe don't bring your grandma.) Very clean, sauce bar was well maintained. And it was crowded both times. Service: Pretty good. I will say that our second waiter did forget things and sort of seemed distracted. Our first waiter was on point. Friendly, made recommendations, and changed our grill 3 times. (We were grilling fiends.) Now the main point/the food: All the top favorites and a decent amount of variety. Hot pot broths were quite good and, of course, improved the longer they cooked with our chosen veggies and proteins. I had Tom Yum broth the first time and Seoul Spicy the second. I lived them each in their own way. Tom Yum was tangy, spicy and vibrant while the Seoul was floral and rich. Yes, meat quality isn't top tier, but it's quite good. We ate a lot of bulgogi, Seoul steak, brisket, and hanger steak, and nothing ended up tough or chewy. (Honestly, the skill of whomever you designate to cook helps.) Toss in some rice cakes, bok choy, Napa, bean sprouts, mushrooms (for katie and mom, not for me) potatoes, corn, etc... you get the point. Gluttony was had all around. I'd definitely make it a point to stop here the next time we are visiting our Palmyra friends. read more

Yessss finally a Korean BBQ all-you-can eat (AYCE) place in C-ville! And as a kicker, it's got Hot Pot! I mean those two in itself bring this place way up in the rankings since there is literally no other restaurant like it in the vicinity without straying too close to the NOVA area. I highly recommend making reservations as some of the waits can be over an hour, especially for larger parties. Additionally, if you are looking for exotic items (like intestines or liver), this location doesn't have meat items like that's but the abundance of other items won't disappoint! The service was great and all our appetizers, meat, hot pot items came in extraordinary and quick fashion. I will however caveat, that they don't quite clarify what items are what and the meats and hot pot items can get mixed up and confusing due to the paper at which they come out. Also table space may be limited if you order a lot of items at once. So I recommend coming in parties of multiples of four so you can get a grill per four people. We made the mistake of coming as a part of 7 and had to share just one grill (although six people got a hot pot stove). Parking can also get congested, but not too bad since the location is in the small plaza near snap fitness. Either way, I highly recommend this restaurant to those new to KBBQ, veterans and just those who want to eat a lot of food. Enjoy! read more

I had high hopes for this place and was expecting something pretty good. I was sadly disappointed. The service was mediocre at best. The waiter started by spraying a TON of cooking spray on our grill. We asked for a replacement because there was so much. The sides are self serve which was inconvenient. The Kim Chi wasn't Kim Chi. It tasted like nothing and was gross looking. The spicy and regular meats had no difference at all. The fried rice was just white rice with egg in it. Overall the experience was very underwhelming and disappointing. I personally won't be returning. read more

So, we (wife, 2 kids 13&10 and I) went here. Youngest wanted hot pot and grill. Everyone else just wanted the grill. But, we all had to get hot pot, in order for my daughter to have hot pot. That's ridiculous. So, nobody got hot pot. I want mei fun as a side but couldn't unless I got hot pot. The entire night was like this. Couldn't get something unless we all got it. Its sad its like this. We have decided that we wont come back. They need to realize this doesn't work very well. We have since found a much better place that allows you better options. read more

When we finally ordered, the food was dropped on the table without an explanation or who ordered what. The cuts of meat were amazing thin. The tried to grill the steak, it basically dissolved. Charlottesville has needed a good Korean barbecue restaurant for a while. A hotpot restaurant too. Seoul brings all-you-can-eat of both for just 32 dollars! The sauce bar has a nice variety of bases and components. I enjoyed the Korean barbecue better than the hotpot and felt like the meat and options were better. With that said, the meat wasn't the best Korean barbecue meat quality that I've ever had but I think it is still tasty. There's no option to have the staff cook the meat for you so be prepared to cook yourself. I feel like the tables and ordering style best suit tables of 3-4. Ordering and cooking begins to get complicated the more people there are. I'm glad that Seoul is here, and I hope it's here to stay! read more
