I met up with a friend here for lunch, but I'm not going to lie... I only wanted to come here for their Red Velvet Cupcakes and their Macarons. I got a breakfast burrito which was really nothing to rave about... So I guess I'll just rave about their treats instead, I mean, after all that was the sole purpose of this trip. I got a Red Velvet Cupcake, and six different Macarons to-go. Their Red Velvet Cupcake was okay. I wasn't too crazy with the cream/frosting that they used for it, I've had better. However, I loved the Coconut, Almond, and Pistachio Macarons... Kind of wished I had some to munch on right now while I'm writing this review. My family and I came here for breakfast a few days ago. We all ordered the breakfast croissant and some pastries. I got to try the breakfast croissant, bacon quiche, cinnamon roll, madeleines, and chocolate croissant. It was all delicious!! Service was very friendly. The only thing is that later that night we all had very upset stomachs.. My guess is that it was due to the breakfast croissants... Pretty livid. 1) I ordered a NON-FAT blended caramel mocha and they completely ignored my request and added 2% and 1% reduced fat milk. I didn't realize it until I researched the milk they use there and the color labels representing the fat content of the milk. To people who watch their calorie intake closely, this is extremely important and I find it appalling that they aren't concerned at all about what their customers request. 2) We ordered macarons here and they are the worst we've had. They tasted stale, as if they reuse the ones they don't sell; so they're days old. We thought we'd give this place a shot because it's footsteps away from our condo, but we are never coming back. I suggest you do the same! PS - If you ask for fat-free milk and they use a milk carton with a blue or red label, flag them down and tell them to make your drink over again with the right type of milk. read more

I've only ever tried the macaroons here and they're delicious. Really nice set up, there's eiffel towers on the tables. All of the pastries look tempting and scrumptious. We were excited to try based on the reviews, but was sad the selection was so low around 8:30am when we went. The pastries we purchased ( pineapple upside down, banana muffin and chocolate croissant) were decent, a bit too sweet for us. The blended drinks( green drink and monkey drink?) needed more ice since they came out more liquidy and not very cold. I'd give them another shot overall, but may come earlier than 8am to get a better selection. read more

Loving to visit small business, I searched out macarons closest to where I spend a lot of time in Long Beach. Lo and behold, Yelp brought me here. Since I love coffee and macarons, I decided to give this place a try. I enjoyed my first visit, based off that, my review would've been five stars. The iced caramel macchiato I ordered was delicious, the milk espresso portions were perfect. The macarons I ordered were all really good. (I don't remember which ones I got because I had so many!) Unfortunately I must give this local business a 4 because the quality of their coffee has gone down. The taste isn't quite as delicious lately, but their macarons are still amazing and the flavors are creative! Salted caramel, birthday cake, and red velvet are my favorite so far! read more

The bakery is going to be on the left hand side when you are driving down Broadway. The bakery itself is a good size, it has a small inside dining area. The first time I came here, I picked up two butter croissants, two chocolate croissants, and one raspberry cheese croissant. All of the croissants here were good. It was flaky and buttery. I also ordered 4 vietnamese coffee macarons. Those were good as well. The total came out to be $16.75. The pastries are a bit expensive, but I think it is worth it. I will be coming back. Came here this morning to try out their macarons with my friend. The cashier person was super nice and I enjoyed the small talk I had with her. 5/5 for the service. I decided to order the Strawberry Macarons and the Vietnamese Coffee Macarons after hearing some recommendations from her. For the two macarons my total came out to $3, which is pretty cheap considering how expensive these little goodies are. We tried the Vietnamese coffee macaron first and it was super hard. I think it's because we ate them right away and they came out of the cooler. I would suggest waiting about 30mins for the macarons to reach room temp. first before eating them. The macaron was really good. No hollows and it had a nice filling of coffee buttercream with a condensed milk filling in the center. It didn't taste like Vietnamese coffee, but it was close. I would give this macaron a solid 3/5. We decided to eat the strawberry macaron about an hour after purchase so it would soften up a bit. This time the consistency was a lot better and I think the wait is worth it. Once again no hollows and a nice strawberry buttercream filling. I would give their strawberry macaron a 4/5. One thing to add, I really loved how their macarons weren't too sweet. A lot of macarons that I have tried in the past were way too carried away with the sugar level. The macarons here are just right. Overall 4/5 because of decent macarons and excellent service. Definitely come give this place a try if you're ever in Long Beach. read more

Oh I'm conflicted!! I have an ongoing 'best croissant' list, and I keep flip-flopping between Doly's & Baguetier. Since my first review of Doly's, I have tried a bunch of additional items, and today I had possibly the best ham & cheese croissant from them. I put Doly's at #1 on the croissant list for the ham and cheese croissant, and Baguetier at #1 for the plain croissant. That may change tomorrow but that's where I stand today. Stopped in at Doly's at 8am today, and that is the time to go. Pastries were coming out of the oven, and I had a bunch of hot, fresh, amaaaazing choices to pick from. Went with the ham & cheese croissant and Oh Em Gee. Holy lord was I in heaven. It is flaky, salty, creamy, sweet - a little bit of everything that makes me happy. Based on today's experience, their ham & cheese croissant has jumped to #1 on my Doly's favorite things list too. Other favorites: Blueberry Pinwheel - Another holy lord moment. It's a croissant with a little bit of sweet cream cheese (unless I'm mistaken) and some sweet blueberries. Just enough crisp pastry and just the right sweetness. Wow. Blueberry muffin - THE fluffiest blueberry muffin I have EVER had. I was in amazement and giddy at how light and airy and soft and fluffy it was. Again, perfect sweetness. It's huge too! So good. Mini plain croissant - flaky, buttery, just the right size. Nice crisp base, fluffy inside. Oh my. Of course, all of their macarons are still the bomb (especially the brown ones - Vietnamese Coffee, PB&J, Salted Caramel, Tiramisu). Chocolate croissant is one of the best I've had anywhere. Next on my list will be the almond chocolate croissant (so I can compare it with Roqc Cafe's which I tried recently), bread pudding, & cupcakes. I seriously have not been disappointed with anything I've tried here. Shocking. Love this place SO much! Oh and they can also make macarons for special events. I don't know what's the hype all about but I wasn't impressed at all! I got the macaroons, almond croissant, lemon bar and the passion fruit iced tea. I justify this sweet overdose by telling myself I have to try a variety of things to give a good review *ahem* I never had these types of macaroons before but I took one bite and skipped it. I was so disappointed because after reading these reviews I just knew I would love them! I ordered a vanilla and a snookerdoodle, two of my favorite flavors, and didn't like them at all! I may just not like macaroons because I took them home to my family and everyone loved them! I took another bite of each to make sure and still didn't like them. Had to make sure! The almond croissant was very greasy and didn't have too much filling. I love love love almond croissants and this was the first one I've had that I didn't care for. The passion fruit iced tea wasn't good either, it was too watery. The lemon bar wasn't too bad but I wouldn't order it again. I don't know what happened but I like sweets and didn't find anything to come back for. The people were nice and the place was clean and decently sized but that won't make me come back. The kids and I decided to try this place out after we read over some of the reviews. Since we love French macaroons, we figured why not. We enjoyed all of the macaroons we ordered. Alll were flavorful, and the outside had just the right amount of chewiness. Our favorite was the salted caramel. We also tried the creme brûlée, it was okay, nothing to write home about. The staff was nice and polite, they were also very patient with us, being as though I had kids with me that couldn't make up their little minds on what kind of goodies they wanted to try. Still loving this place. I haven't been back for awhile since I was on a summer diet but this place is always making new flavors for me to try every time I come. This time I was able to try grape, lavender, birthday cake and pomegranate. Pom was absolutely delicious. I cut it in half and gave my Co worker the other half and all I could hear from him was mMmm, my thoughts exactly after I bit into it as well. Good thing I was able to snag the last one today. They have a large selection of macaron flavors, and all of the ones I have tried have been delicious! Favorites include Passion Fruit, Lemon Raspberry, Vietnamese Coffee, and Rose. Each macaron is $1.50 and is sold individually, there is no deal currently for buying 6 or 12. The macarons are baked that morning and are a bit chewy and tough if you choose to eat them the day of purchase. However, the macarons are divine when eaten the following day. The extra day allows the macarons to take up moisture from the filling as well as the air and become wonderfully soft with a subtly chewy texture. It is hard to resist, but it really is worth the wait. read more

Almond cream cheese croissant, the best kind of croissant ever! this place is in the middle of downtown long beach, and parking would suck if you come at any time that is not very early. the food: i loved the almond cream croissant, super delicious! the french macaroons were awesome as well. i did think raspberry was particularly delightful. the grape was kind of funny tasting i thought it was like an actual grape in my mouth, not the artificial grape flavor stuff. the coconut was good, as well as all the other flavors. the only flavor i found to be weird was the orange chocolate. it was ok but i think i was just expecting more. the place: its got street parking, and you have to pay. the place is connected to a building. i have no idea what kind. the restaurant itself is very clean, and fairly quite. they make sandwhiches and bake in the back. you can see them make sandwhiches. this place is pretty is a nice place to have braekfast and lunch. it has tv's all around and it is nicely decorated, although kind of plain. it looks like a regular diner. but a nice one. would definitely come back for more croissants and macaroons. read more

Brought a dozen of their macarons and a dozen muffins/croissants to work and everything was gone within the hour. Everybody loved what they had and didnt stop raving about the macarons. I already got a request from a coworker for me to go back and pick something up for her birthday. I had the almond croissant for myself and it was the most amazing thing i've eaten in a long time. Even though it was covered in powdered sugar it was just the right amount of sweet and savory. I was taken to DoLy's Delectable for brunch while visiting my cousins in LA. We ordered sandwiches, coffee, and 2 boxes full of their pastries. The sandwiches are good enough to make you want to come back, but I'm sure the main reason why you would come back is for the baked goods. As most of the reviews have already mentioned, their Macaroons are Amazing! Unfortunately for my cousins, I ended up snacking on half of the batch that we ordered. I was hungry and they were delicious =) Also, if you guys visit this place, you gotta try their almond croissants. Really wish we had something like this back in Davis for a night time snack when studying or writing up papers. The owners are just wonderful! Friendly and cheerful, these two really know how to make you feel welcome. We chatted for a bit about the pastries, and found out that they make their goods from scratch every morning. No surprise to me when I tasted their macaroons. Is it me, or do they remind anyone else of 'pretty patties'? Random thought- had to get it out there. I went here with my friends around 10am (thank goodness it wasn't crowded or anything, they even said it was a bit slow that morning). Anyways, I went to try some of their french macarons and let me tell you, they were some of the best I've had. Luckily, they had their full spread of macarons! I've heard that they run out by noon, so coming here early was a plus. I got four flavors: almond, salted caramel, vietnamese coffee, and pistachio. I left them in my car for a while and they melted (sad face), this was quickly remedied when they were put into the refrigerator. The taste: amazing. For 1.50 a macaron, I was definitely surprised! Their macarons are to die for. I tried like 7 different flavors (sorry, forgot which ones), but my favorite were the Vietnamese coffee and the pumpkin flavors. I'm a little bit obsessed with macarons, and I don't know why, maybe it's because they're so delicate and pretty looking, yet surprise you with their pop of flavor, but for $1.50 a piece, you seriously can't go wrong even if you're not a macaron person. This place is definitely going to be my go to place for macarons. I'm not really a macaron connoisseur because I've only tried macarons from 'Lette and Bottega Louie, so I don't know the specifications to what makes a perfect macaron, but I can tell you that these are delicious. I found this place through yelp and I was really excited to go, because I saw they had all kinds of macaroons!!!! Once I get there, I see no macaroons! Not one! I asked the worker and she said they only make them when they receive their special ingredient! I asked her when was the last time they received there shipment and she said a month ago!! These are quite possibly the best macarons I have had anywhere, and I am amazed they are $1.50. Normally I pay $2-$2.50 for macarons that are much smaller so this was a great price. I have had macarons that had good flavor and macarons that have nice texture, but not many that have had both. These were not only delicious in flavor but the perfect consistency. The chocolate raspberry and salted caramel were both amazing. Not too sweet as macarons can sometimes be, the flavors were definitely present, and they melted in your mouth. Matcha was also very good. I also had a passion fruit iced tea which was great- lightly sweetened and very refreshing. Also tried a mini chocolate ganache tart, only 75 cents, and delicious, flaky, and choclatey. The staff was nice and very helpful. If I lived around here, I would probably be back often. read more

I was introduced to this place through a friend, who knew the owners. I will maintain a very objective review but let me tell you, my experience here was far from ordinary! First off, we had just come from the Cupcake Extravaganza and was craving something savory. Julie and Son quickly fixed up a couple cajun chicken sandwiches and they were amazing. For only $6 bucks, you get a HUGE sandwich (I still have half), a side of potato salad, and a side spinach salad. We also grabbed a couple fruit smoothies, which were very refreshing. During our visit, we got to taste their delicious French macarons. They seriously have this down and I would say that they are comparable to Bouchon's, no kidding! We also took home a couple of pastry boxes filled with their famous croissants and baked goods. Honestly, you HAVE to try their pain au chocolate, the almond croissant, and the cream cheese muffin. My mom does not have a sweet tooth at all but she couldn't stop eating. After one night, my family has almost finished the box of 10+ baked goods that I brought home and wants more!!! I was lucky enough to be given a personal baking lesson and special macaron tasting privileges but trust me, that did not sway my opinion about their baked goods. For now, all I have to say is that I am love with French Macarons and I am so happy to have found a place so close to home! I have driven by this place a million times after work and never knew what was waiting for me inside. I am also a big fan of cute bakeries that feature breakfast, lunch, coffee and pastries - so I pretty much have hit the jackpot. This place is nicely designed inside and there is a lot of open area to view the chefs in action. While searching for the nearest Starbucks on yelp, Doly's popped up. After reading reviews and looking through photos I was convinced that it was finally time to try French macaroons. I went the next day knowing I wanted to try macaroons and the Cajun chicken sandwich. They were both great!! I think I found my new addiction. The only down side is their hours. They close at 3pm, so during the wk the only time I have to go is before class and work. I think I'll sacrifice my sleep early in the morning for a macaroon fix though :) read more

We stayed at the Hyatt Regency for a couple of days and wanted to spend our time walking and enjoying the local eateries. Came upon DoLy's thanks to Yelp, and we were so happy we did. We had the super delicious breakfast sandwich on the best croissant I've ever had. We also got a bbq chicken sandwich which was also very tasty with fresh ingredients. Finally we got the macaroons which I had never had before. My girlfriend fell in love with them. They were so amazing that the next day on our way out of town, we stopped by to get a couple dozen to take home to the family. This place is truly a gem. Oh by the way, don't make the mistake we did by trying to park in the lot next to the restaurant. A chihuahua of a man came out of his doghouse and started barking at us about how we weren't allowed to park there. Then when I said my bad and I was just going to drop my girlfriend off, he started mad dogging both of us like he wanted to fight. What a pathetic little man. I work in the building and thank god for DoLys! They also make vegetarian breakfast burritos if you ask (no meat and substitute spinach, tomato or onions) for us vegetarians!!! You can also park right in the lot for free if you are doing a quick pickup or just 1 dollar if you eat there (unless you are there for a long time). Yes the macaroons are awesome, but don't forget the quiche in the mornings. and don't forget about their super fresh sandwiches for lunch!!! 100 STARS FOR DOLYS!!!! read more

I'm not sure where the noise was coming from, but it sounded like water rushing through pipes above the ceiling the entire hour I was there... Enjoyed one of the best chicken sandwiches I've ever had at Doly's last week for lunch. Make sure and pay to have it on their fresh croissants! Unbelievably buttery and came with a spinach side salad and potato salad. Chicken salad was delicious, with spices and not to heavy on mayo. 5 stars for the sandwich. Didn't have a very large selection of macaroons when I came in but wanted to try one anyways for a little treat. Not very impressed. I'd ask if they are fresh first.
