This is such an amazing experience! I would highly recommend it. I know how it seems like everyone was complaining about the photos' price, I personally only bought one, and I would have been fine if I didnt buy any. It is about the experience and a memory to hold onto. Me and my friend got to swim with Sophia and Diana. Our instructor Yvonne, she was super friendly and was so open to answer our million of questions about the dolphins. We got the Royal Swim package. Entitled us to play, kiss, touch the dolphins in addition to swimming with them. We went at 8am, and unfortunately there was a storm passing. We got there, got changed and was ready to go in the water. We got to feed Manatees, then touch and kiss our 2 dolphins. But we had to get out cause the storm was getting serious. We chose the option to wait out the storm. Honestly, all rain/storms in Mexico only lasts about 1-2 hours max. What else could we even do with it raining?? nothing so we waited. Best decision ever! They shuttled us to their lunch area where we got to snack and eat. Literally in 30 minutes we were back on a shuttle and in the water with dolphins again!! I have to call out, when it was raining, there were so many people giving the staff a hard time. please don't. you cant blame the staff for mother nature. secondly, don't complain to the staff why your kids/family members aren't able to do other activities other people were doing. We had 4 children in our group, and all I heard the whole time was the mom and dad above asking why they couldnt swim with the dolphins & they were trying to explain they didnt pay for the Royal Swim ( which of course is more expensive). We had a great time at the Dolphin Discovery Cozumel! I bought the tickets in advance online though their website. Notice: You can chat with them and ask for a discount especially when you buy several experiences. In the end I paid 320 Euros for two adults (about 380 Dollars) for the Royal Swim with Dolphins (the buffet and drinks were included), Manatee encounter and the sea lion experience. Notice: When you are friendly with the stuff and you give them a nice tip they will make you strong drinks and even some to go ;) Back to the experiences: Manatee: Great experience but for us the least interesting one. Even though I got really lucky because my manatee started to play with another one during my picture time so I had way more time with them than the other people in my group and I got to pet two of them at once :) They are really cute. Sea Lion: Such smart and sweet animals! I really liked that experience because it takes place in an special area where it is much more calm. I loved that the trainer showed us many facts and tricks with them and that we got to meet four different sea lions. I really enjoyed the kiss ;) Royal Swim with two dolphins: I already did the dolphin swim 10 years ago in Playa del Carmen and since then I knew I had to come back! This time the experience was even better (not only because of the much better aquarium). We were so lucky because we were in the last dolphin group that day and we started late. So we were able to swim with the manatees again until the dolphins got a bit rest. Then my boyfriend and me were the only ones who booked the royal swim so we had a private experience with the dolphins and two trainers. We were so lucky and will never forget that experience! Bad experience: The pictures The only bad thing are the prices for the pictures! For one CD with all the pictures from only one experience (!) they wanted 100 Dollars. So we would have to pay 300 Dollars for our three experiences. Per single picture they charged us 35 Dollars and so I though I m really smart so my boyfriend and me took a picture together with a dolphin. In the end they said the price is not per picture but per person on the picture! So rude...70 Dollars for one picture?! In the end we didn't buy the pictures and now I reget it. You can also buy them after the holidays online but the prices are even higher and the charging system is another one. If I remember it right you pay 75 Dollars for 3-6 pictures and 100 Dollars for 6-10 pictures or something...You also can't combine pictures from different experiences. For the whole CD (only one experience) you pay 300 Dollars. So if you really want the pictures buy the picture package in advance (online) or get them at the counter and always keep in mind that they probably won't give you a good price even if you are there 5 minutes before they are closing... read more

My son really wanted to swim w/the dolphins and Discovery came highly recommended. We spent $$$$ for the dolphins for three and admittance to the park for one, which included the buffet lunch and drinks. The experience itself was fun and the animals are treated well and looked healthy from what I could see. The disappointing part is that they do not allow ANY pictures taken, other than by their photographer. They scurry you over to the monitors and push the pictures on you immediately after you come out of the water and of the dock. He started at $250 and was down to $80 in less than 5 min. I felt soaked (like jilted) and told the kids to take a mental pic. I'm not cheap, but hate feeling/getting ripped off. read more

This is way overpriced for what you get. The kids were in the pool for 20 minutes and that part was great, but $100 for 20 minutes is extreme. Then they charged to $40 to watch. After I paid they told me no pictures! I could only buy from them??? Really??? Ok. I expected it to be expensive but $40 for a 4x6 print is absurd! The cruise charged $10 and I thought that was steep, but i've never paid $40 for a 4x6 print! This is a rip off and I wish we had chosen a different tour option! read more

The dolphin experience was good, plenty of time with the dolphin however the price they are charging for photos is INSANE. Because of their prices our group wasn't able to get a single photo of any of the adults (4) and still spent over $400 between us on digital photos of 5 kids. They also didn't take any pictures of the manatee portion of the experience Unfortunately while the dolphin swim was fun the photo package would keep me from recommending it......unless of course you don't care about photos. The dolphins are beautiful and it was great for the kids. As an adult however, the dolphin cages were extremely small for the experience & to hold 2 dolphins in it I thought. THE PICTURES!!!!!!! It was in insult. They started at $400 for all of our photos, then it was $300, then is was $250...they would make more money if they lowered the prices and didn't try to rip off tourists. The photos are worthless to them if we don't buy them, SO LOWER YOUR PRICES AND WE WILL. Sad. Not good business sense. Don't even get me started on the food & drinks... read more

Huge disappointment. Literally had the kids in tears. Didn't start on time and as a result a large rain storm hit just as they started our experience. They proceeded with event in the pouring rain. Kids were shivering and crying, couldn't make them continue. Asked to speak with the manager and was told the manager wouldn't even come to speak with us. They refused any kind of refund. Contacted my credit card and disputed the charge, credit card sided with me and I got a complete refund. It's a shame they have such poor customer service. There is plenty of other things to do in Cozumel, don't waste your time or money here, they clearly only care about money not customers. read more

I had mixed feelings of swimming with Dolphins. When I was young I hung by the dolphin pool at Sea World hoping to get a chance to pet one daydreaming of being a dolphin trainer. I love to walk the beach and see Dolphins and have been intrigued by them. I've been on cruises and have seen the cement ponds with hordes of people swimming on them - a rather depressing site. I had wanted to do the dolphin experience in Roatan but they were booked for the day and we were cruise ship passengers. I knew Chankanaab had a nice facility where they are actually in the ocean with nets that keep them in. My husband drove me there and made me do it as I was on the fence. So glad that he did- it was my highlight of 7 days in Cozumel! I did the Dolphin Swim Adventure. It was $119. I loved when the dolphin would swim by and you could touch her. She played in my arms and that was so cool. She looked like she was smiling. The boogie board push was quite the experience as she put her nose on my foot and propelled me so fast I was airborne. I wasn't so sure about grabbing her fins for the next ride as it seems a little mean but I rode on a dolphin and that was incredible. The guide said all the dolphins are born there. I loved this experience and I think Chankanaab is a great place if you want to interact with a dolphin. I could never go to one of those sad facilities with cement pools. We saw the sea lion show and it was cute. You can even get your picture with one. Pictures are expensive- $40 for one picture. It's $20 to enter the park. Its great if you are coming to enjoy snorkeling or doing one of the dolphin tours- admission to the park is included in the dolphin. You can swim with a manatee too. The beach looked really nice and if I was a cruise ship passenger I think this would be a great place for a beach day. One tip- book at your hotel or a tour group- you will save money on the dolphin experience and get a free lunch. I went direct and it was $119 and no lunch was included. We purchased lunch for our starving 19 year old. h read more
