Cute little aquarium with lots of interactivity! You'll only need an hour or so it isn't a huge place but they do a nice job of using the space they have. They even have dolphin and sea lion shows. Where this place shines is the interactivity for visitors. They have a snuba experience dolphin swimming and interactive experience and a super nice exhibition outside with touch tanks. Great for kiddos and affordable at only 15 per adult and less for kids. Again it isn't an all day experience but it's a nice escape from the heat of the day! read more

We did the dolphin excursion Monday. While it was fun to interact with the dolphins, I don't think it was worth the price for what you actually get. One of the biggest disappointments was that they don't allow you to bring your own camera or phone. Instead, most of the experience is spent posing for their photographer, and afterward you're hit with a massive upsell. Out of the 300+ photos they took, I only liked a handful, but the pricing was shocking, $300 for just 10 digital photos or $50 for a single photo. That's more than the excursion itself. I am updating my review as a representative did reach out to me however I'm disappointed my concerns about the experience were not even acknowledged, and the pricing they offered is still far above what feels reasonable (you can see from the screenshot). Again, the experience felt more like our time with the dolphins was designed around creating photos to upsell afterward, and their response has focused solely on continuing to sell those photos at a high price...The irony isn't lost on me. If you want to pay $300 for a couples' one-on-one to basically get to touch a dolphin as it swims by, and then spend the rest of the time standing next to it so they can take hundreds of photos (while not allowing you to take any of your own "for the safety of the dolphins"), just be prepared to pay around $600 USD for what ends up feeling like a very expensive petting zoo experience. For the price, I would have much rather spent our time actually interacting with the dolphins than being forced to pose so they could take photos the whole time. It felt very manipulative. Overall, the experience was enjoyable in the moment, but the value just wasn't there once you factor in the excessive photo prices and how much of the excursion is centered around staging pictures instead of actually enjoying time with the dolphins. read more

Aquarium is clean but small. If you have asthma don't bother booking the Aquarium Trek because when you buy the tickets it won't say on that page that you can't participa if you have asthma. I only found this out after already arriving where I was informed that not only could I not participate but I won't be getting a refund either. To the credit of the staff member he at least ASKED his manager if they could make an exception as my asthma is controlled and I have participated in this type of activity before. The rule about asthma is posted on their wall at the aquarium and when I went back to their website and did some digging I eventually found it in a hidden FAQ link. Don't trust the main ticket page without doing your research. I'm fine with being denied due to rules but to not give someone a refund or do anything to make it right is bad business-thankfully their staff was polite because I assume they'd be frustrated to lose the money they work hard for too. But hey, maybe this place can afford a bigger habitat for their dolphins and a more user friendly website with the money they didn't refund me. The worker could tell I was uncomfortable and withdrawn and tried to tell me the dolphins liked it there. This is located in the La Isla shopping center. It costs $15 USD for one adult but kids are free. If you let the sellers outside the aquarium to approach you, they'll sell you a ticket for $13 per adult so you can save a little. And yes, it's real and not a scam. We did that and everything was fine. The aquarium itself is interesting but rather small. You could finish in under 30 minutes if you wanted. I think the main thing they want to sell if the swim with dolphins and other interactive stuff which costs extra. We did not do that but still enjoyed the visit. It was a rainy day and my sister and I were looking for something to do. This was presented to us, and it was the perfect activity for the weather. If you're going to be wet, you might as well be wet with some new dolphin friends! We chose to do the dolphin ride which included education, petting the dolphins, seeing some up close tricks, and holding onto the dolpin for a quick ride. Being that close to the dolpins was really neat. They staff seemed very invested in the dolphins, and it seemed like they were well taken care of (at least I hope so). I can't speak to the whole aquarium as we didn't explore it. If you're not into being in the water with the dolphins, you can purchase a ticket to view from above. There are a few dolphin interaction options (including the one where they push you by your feet!). read more

As a lover of aquariums of all types, I will admit that I was a little disappointed in the size of this one. There are very few exhibits and the tanks are quite small. For such a small place, you'd think they'd limit the flora and fauna to just species native to this area; but instead they have things from the Amazon like arrowanna and red tailed catfish, African cichlids, etc - common species that you can see almost anywhere. I did appreciate that much of the messaging on the walls had to do with conservation, reduction of plastic waste, etc... Thing that are very important for kids to learn, especially in places like Mexico where waste management infrastructure is lacking. What this aquarium lacks in size, it makes up for with first hand experiences. The aqua trek inside the big fish tank was just a ton of fun! The pictures were super expensive, but I suppose we were expecting that. We had a small problem at admission because we had bought our ticket through the Go Cancun pass, and their information was incorrect. Our ticketing agent, Azhael, did an incredible job and was able to save the day and get everything sorted. He did a really great job. An unexpected highlight was enjoying lunch at the restaurant while watching the people have their dolphin interactions. Great food and accompanying entertainment! read more

My 8 years old loves marine life. He was able to touch stingray, starfish and a sea cucumber. The place is small , that would be my biggest issue with it for $15 entry per person. You could watch dolphin shows and also do swimming with the dolphins. Right next to it is a great breakfast place Jugo de Limon - I had eggs casserole - yummy take on breakfast eggs while enjoying some nice view of the dolphins. Both are worth checking out. I should also mention ,if you don't want to pay entry fee to the aquarium and get lucky enough to get a table at the restaurant by it - you'll get delicious food and dolphins show as a bonus :) read more

Weak. Weak. Weak. Weak. For an aquarium that is right by the Caribbean Sea, this place was a huge letdown. You will find this place inside the La Isla Shopping Center in the hotel zone. Entry fee is roughly $14 USD. They have plans where you can kiss the dolphins, swim with dolphins, and/or ride the dolphins for a few hundred dollars more. (After doing the Elephant Trekking in Phuket and then hearing and seeing some of the abuse these animals endured, I instantly regretted it. So there would be no dolphin riding for us! I do not wish to participate in that. They are beautiful and magnificent creatures though.). We basically paid our $14 ech and walked in. There were only a very limited amount of animals on display! The stingrays, alligators, and nurse sharks were cool. They also had some fish, starfish, and turtles. Meh. They were building a large facility for the dolphins, but that was still under construction. There was no large shark in the massive tank at the end, which I assumed was made for more than the small fish swimming around in it. You can sit down and watch as others do the dolphin rides/kisses etc. It is a very small seating area, but it is just the people riding and kissing the dolphins. I really felt bad for them. They are such beautiful animals, but I swear one of them had to be crying as a fairly large woman "rode" him across the pool. Ouch. My back hurt just watching that! I have seen aquariums all over the world and this has to be the worst. What a disappointment. 2 stars. Not worth the $14 USD. read more

The interactive displays where you could pet/touch some of the creatures were cool, but not enough for me to pay the asking price. I definitely felt cheated at the end of the day. Where is where the dolphins stay I had just went to dolphin discovery and this is what I see today, it's sad to think that they have placed these dolphins in basically a pool, to think that they have an ocean in the back yard to extend it too, the dolphins look like they need space, and there's even a manatee in a 5 foot width space of water I just saw them circling it around and around which is sad to see honestly. Such a shame, they need to treat the animals a bit better as I also seen a bent fin on a dolphin and it's crazy to me that people are riding in the fin even though it's bent, other than that it was not worth it to even go through the aquarium unless you wanna see truly domesticated dolphins that basically just sit with boredm and locked in a pool. Tell them no photos up front else they focus too much on that. Its a bit run-down and dingy but Dolphin swim area is large and still worth it. This is a small aquarium and we came just for the Sea Trek experience. It involves wearing an air filled helmet on your head so if you are claustrophobic then you may want to skip this particular adventure but I enjoyed it very much. The helmets are heavy but it is great to be in the huge aquarium with the fish and the rays. The staff feeds the fish and rays right in front of you and by doing so, positions them perfectly for photos and human interaction. I really loved it and I would definitely bring the kiddos back to do this. I believe it was $65 each and its approximately 25 minutes of underwater time. Very cool! They sell photos after 1/$20 or 2/$30. *tip* the water feels FREEZING COLD! They give you a shortie wetsuit so legs are exposed. I'm so glad I wore my full length or else I would've been too cold to participate! read more

This place is totally amazing for a person with disabilities. The staffs there are very helpful and attentive. We had wonderful time with lifetime memory. Although we feel shameful that those lovely creatures are captured in a pool to satisfy human being's curiosity and "adventure" souls we can tell the dolphins are taken good care of as the they seem happy and the staffs show respects and cares to dolphins. In addition, the price for swimming with dolphins and pics are very reasonable especially comparing to the one in Seaworld San Diego. This review is about the good, the bad and the ugly. The place is dead centre in the Cancun tourist area, so if you walk inside, there is no way to miss it. We went for the double package of the swimming with dolphins and the aquarium. The dolphin swim part itself is a mix of good and bad, because you have to swim in freezing water. The good part is that apparently that's the temperature dolphins need, so this goes to show that they are well taken care of. The bad is, well, that you have to swim in freezing water - for me and my kids it was a real buzz killer. There are decent showers, and lockers for your stuff, plus very new looking life jackets. Once you are done swimming, and you are showered and dry, the ugly comes in. The staff is aggressively (in some cases) trying to sell you photos and videos of your experience, for absolutely outrageous amounts of money. It is expensive everywhere, but this place is a new low. Then there is a store you have to walk through, when leaving this place - it's surprisingly decent. The aquarium itself is exceptionally modest, with barely any fish. The nice part about it is a walkway above the dolphinarium, with a view of the ocean. You can also sit down and watch other people swim with dolphins. Another cute thing is a fish pedicure station - you stick your feet into small fish tanks, and they chew away on your feet, making them smooth - wife loved it. Bottom line is it's a decent place, if you didn't pay for it through the nose, at your resort (I didn't). read more

My son had lots of fun! The staff was very friendly. I asked a numerous amount of times how much the photos were and they only told me that we'd know after the experience. Well, after paying 150$ for the least expensive package, they wanted 180$ for the picture package (video, book, pic disc), the next one down was $150 (no book). And to buy one picture is $38. It is def too much money, you are not allowed to bring your own cameras with the dolphins. I would NOT go there again! read more

My boyfriend, mom and I got a private experience swimming with the Dolphins. This is one of my all time favorite experiences ever. The trainer (Gabriel) was unbelievably friendly, answers all of our questions and the dolphin, oh my gosh, she was fantastic. Apparently, dolphins are hormonal just like humans and it was that time for Kimba, our dolphin. She loved affection and attention, just like humans, and appreciated our tummy rubs:) she kept stopping by me wanted me to run her tummy more:) It was one of the most interactive experiences and was above and beyond any of my my expectations. At the end we got to ride on two of the dolphins noses across the aquarium. We also had a photographer which took several pictures. The pics are very pricy but in the end we decided to buy a package anyways. read more

Our dolphin Kimba was amazing and very friendly. It is quite an experience and truly recommend it. Not many things can compare to swimming with Dolphins. The entire package cost 200 for 3 people for a private hour, very affordable but beware, they get you with the photos! 200 bucks just for the photos, or 50 for 1. Like I have mentioned in all my other reviews, I always make an effort to try to go to the aquariums wherever I go. Cancun was no different. When I heard that they had an aquarium at their mall (La Isla), I was excited to see what they had to offer. Now don't get your hopes up here. They are a smaller than average aquarium but they do have some nice fish. Some local and some not. They have great displays and if anything, it provides a nice break from the heat outside as all their covered areas are air conditioned. They have a dolphin show but I don't get the impression it's the greatest but yet people line up for 20-30 min in the heat to get a seat. I don't find it worth it... Other than that, it was a great display of fish and I really enjoyed myself despite the fact it was on the smaller side of aquariums that I have seen. They take all major credit cards but they start complaining if you try to pay with American Express. read more

Great touristy spot. You can check out the local underwater fauna and play with the Dolphins. The entrance is under $20 but you can add Dolphins which can be neat. Be aware that you can see Dolphins anyway. The additions are only if you want to be in the water and touch them. There is no reason to pre book this. You can just walk up and get a ticket. Very small aquarium. You can pet the stingrays. We came because of the Interactive package with the dolphins. We bought the ultimate package. It was a dream come true for me. You can get into the water with them, pet them, they swim around you and get a foot push. It was worth it to me and cheaper than the USA. The pictures cost as much as the dolphin package if you want the full video and pictures. They have different packages, I bought them all because it was a one chance in a lifetime experience. If you visited aquariums elsewhere, just manage your expectations and know this isn't going to be a huge facility. That being said, for $14 USD, it's a nice walk through aquarium where you can touch and see stingrays, starfish and sea urchin. And the biggest highlight for us was to watch the trainers work with the dolphins from up above. It was a treat to see them and watch them play and train. Our kids loved the dolphin show in the evening. For :30 it was a nice end to our aquarium visit. And the staff are really friendly and helpful. If I could give this place 0 stars, I would! This experience started off very well, We had the opportunity to pet starfish as well as sting-rays. After that we were told we had to shower before we swam with the dolphins , the water could not be adjusted and only came in one temperature - cold. Soon later we started our " dolphin interaction " the man told us to raise our hand if we spoke English, in Spanish. Later he raised his voice at us and asked us why we didn't raise our hands, the next 40 minutes of training and swimming was very fun but, if you are sensitive to ice cold water I must add the water was freezing for the dolphins. Once the session was over, we went into the photo shop. Everything went down hill from there. The photos were great, but the price was more expensive then the dolphin interaction itself. The prices were $150 USD, $250 USD, and $350 USD. And if you wanted to buy 1 photo... $40 USD! We ended up paying $60 USD for 2 photos after bargaining for about 30 minutes. Once we picked up the photos, he told us to pay $95 USD instead!! Because of this, I would not recommend. read more

We took our 1.5 year old here last week and he seemed to enjoy it. However, don't expect to spend no more than 30-45 minutes here, unless you're also watching the dolphin show. There are two showings: 6:30pm and 7:30pm. The dolphin show was entertaining but the music was WAY too loud -- seriously, I felt like I was at a club standing next to a speaker.
