Aquarium is clean but small. If you have asthma don't bother booking the Aquarium Trek because when you buy the tickets it won't say on that page that you can't participa if you have asthma. I only found this out after already arriving where I was informed that not only could I not participate but I won't be getting a refund either. To the credit of the staff member he at least ASKED his manager if they could make an exception as my asthma is controlled and I have participated in this type of activity before. The rule about asthma is posted on their wall at the aquarium and when I went back to their website and did some digging I eventually found it in a hidden FAQ link. Don't trust the main ticket page without doing your research. I'm fine with being denied due to rules but to not give someone a refund or do anything to make it right is bad business-thankfully their staff was polite because I assume they'd be frustrated to lose the money they work hard for too. But hey, maybe this place can afford a bigger habitat for their dolphins and a more user friendly website with the money they didn't refund me. Also I was told that I could ask a manager about spending a little extra to sw with the dolphins Ok so take more of my money and then I do it alone because my friend can't afford to shell out more...no thanks

It's a small aquarium, but it is still worth seeing if you are in the area and looking for something to do with your kids. The price is only $13 US dollars. There is a part of the aquarium where you can touch sting rays and starfish. They also have a dolphin pool where for an additional price you can swim with the dolphins. I believe you have to schedule this experience in advance. There is Snuba available to do here too. This aquarium is located in an outdoor mall off the hotel strip, which has food and stores nearby.

This is located in the La Isla shopping center. It costs $15 USD for one adult but kids are free. If you let the sellers outside the aquarium to approach you, they'll sell you a ticket for $13 per adult so you can save a little. And yes, it's real and not a scam. We did that and everything was fine. The aquarium itself is interesting but rather small. You could finish in under 30 minutes if you wanted. I think the main thing they want to sell if the swim with dolphins and other interactive stuff which costs extra. We did not do that but still enjoyed the visit. It was fine, just small and finished quickly.

It was a rainy day and my sister and I were looking for something to do. This was presented to us, and it was the perfect activity for the weather. If you're going to be wet, you might as well be wet with some new dolphin friends! We chose to do the dolphin ride which included education, petting the dolphins, seeing some up close tricks, and holding onto the dolpin for a quick ride. Being that close to the dolpins was really neat. They staff seemed very invested in the dolphins, and it seemed like they were well taken care of (at least I hope so). I can't speak to the whole aquarium as we didn't explore it. If you're not into being in the water with the dolphins, you can purchase a ticket to view from above. There are a few dolphin interaction options (including the one where they push you by your feet!).

As a lover of aquariums of all types, I will admit that I was a little disappointed in the size of this one. There are very few exhibits and the tanks are quite small. For such a small place, you'd think they'd limit the flora and fauna to just species native to this area; but instead they have things from the Amazon like arrowanna and red tailed catfish, African cichlids, etc - common species that you can see almost anywhere. I did appreciate that much of the messaging on the walls had to do with conservation, reduction of plastic waste, etc... Thing that are very important for kids to learn, especially in places like Mexico where waste management infrastructure is lacking. What this aquarium lacks in size, it makes up for with first hand experiences. The aqua trek inside the big fish tank was just a ton of fun! The pictures were super expensive, but I suppose we were expecting that. We had a small problem at admission because we had bought our ticket through the Go Cancun pass, and their information was incorrect. Our ticketing agent, Azhael, did an incredible job and was able to save the day and get everything sorted. He did a really great job. An unexpected highlight was enjoying lunch at the restaurant while watching the people have their dolphin interactions. Great food and accompanying entertainment!

    Diver under 30' of water.

Pretty cool place to visit since it is located inside Isla Dorado mall. It's a small aquarium compared to other places around the world, but considering where it's located, I like it and am a fan. This place educates, entertains, and interacts with the patrons. This is NOT a Sea World, and don't expect it to be or you will give it a low rating. Go visit with an open mind. Get the free admission tickets from the hotel you're staying, then add the "presentation" tickets with it.

What a great place to visit. Recommend to all for the aquarium and the restaurant. We watched the dolphins and the view from the deck and restaurant allows you to get so close! What a great experience for all!!

Weak. Weak. Weak. Weak. For an aquarium that is right by the Caribbean Sea, this place was a huge letdown. You will find this place inside the La Isla Shopping Center in the hotel zone. Entry fee is roughly $14 USD. They have plans where you can kiss the dolphins, swim with dolphins, and/or ride the dolphins for a few hundred dollars more. (After doing the Elephant Trekking in Phuket and then hearing and seeing some of the abuse these animals endured, I instantly regretted it. So there would be no dolphin riding for us! I do not wish to participate in that. They are beautiful and magnificent creatures though.). We basically paid our $14 ech and walked in. There were only a very limited amount of animals on display! The stingrays, alligators, and nurse sharks were cool. They also had some fish, starfish, and turtles. Meh. They were building a large facility for the dolphins, but that was still under construction. There was no large shark in the massive tank at the end, which I assumed was made for more than the small fish swimming around in it. You can sit down and watch as others do the dolphin rides/kisses etc. It is a very small seating area, but it is just the people riding and kissing the dolphins. I really felt bad for them. They are such beautiful animals, but I swear one of them had to be crying as a fairly large woman "rode" him across the pool. Ouch. My back hurt just watching that! I have seen aquariums all over the world and this has to be the worst. What a disappointment. 2 stars. Not worth the $14 USD.

This was a very sub par aquarium. Very small, and not much variety in terms of seas life. The interactive displays where you could pet/touch some of the creatures were cool, but not enough for me to pay the asking price. I definitely felt cheated at the end of the day. The only reason to pay admission would be to to pay an additional fee to swim with the dolphins. But, I still wouldn't pay. It's a big fat no for me.

    Anas K.

Super fun! The dolphins are very cute and smart! I was impressed on the training and care the staff put into these beautiful creatures

This review is for the underwater trek. For 65$ for 2 you get free entrance and 20mins to walk underwater and play with sting rays. Highly suggested!! So yes. If you have extra this is really good for the kids. Also if you do end up getting a picture they are 19$ per pic o.o there is also a way to get them digital by email but you also need to get a app thats able to decompress^

There is SO much to do that you genuinely can't fit it all in one day--underground rivers, beaches, snorkeling spots, wildlife exhibits, and cultural experiences throughout the park. Everything is beautifully maintained, super clean, and very well organized. The staff was helpful from start to finish, and the whole place felt safe and easy to navigate. Food options were plentiful with something for everyone, and it was a huge plus that meals were included. There's also plenty of parking (we didn't have to pay), which made getting there stress-free. A few helpful tips: * Bring water shoes - you'll thank yourself in the rivers * Bring a waterproof phone pouch - must-have for photos * You'll need to sign a waiver at the start * You'll receive a wristband + locker key with a chip (included, no extra charge--just don't lose it!) * There are plenty of showers and changing areas, plus parking within the park Be prepared--there is a LOT of walking, so wear comfortable shoes and pace yourself. Overall, this place is a must-do if you're visiting Mexico. It's the perfect mix of adventure, nature, and culture all in one unforgettable experience.

Xel-Há - Stunning Nature, So-So Food, and Skip the Timeshare…read more Xel-Há is easily one of the more beautiful and enjoyable destinations in the Quintana Roo area. The natural surroundings, cenotes, lazy river, and waterslides offer a full day of adventure and relaxation. If you break down the ticket price by the activities included, it's actually a solid overall value. But let's be clear: this is not a 5-Diamond experience. The food is the biggest letdown. The buffet is nothing special--average at best. The fries, in particular, are almost always cold and soggy, thanks to a heating system that doesn't keep up, even when food is freshly made. It's the kind of food that fills you up but doesn't leave an impression. A few tips to help you make the most of your trip: * Buy tickets online in advance - This helps you skip the lines and sometimes score a small discount. * Avoid visiting during election season - Due to Mexican law, no alcohol is served during this time, even at tourist locations. If part of your plan is to sip a drink by the water, plan around that. * Skip the timeshare presentation - While it might sound like a good deal (free breakfast + discounted or free tickets), it's really just a pitch to buy into a discount program. You're not buying a vacation home--just access to marked-up offers with a "discount" tag. If you do your homework, you can usually find better deals on your own. Bottom line: Go to Xel-Há for the nature and fun activities. Just manage your expectations with the food, and avoid the timeshare trap. It's worth a visit--just not worth believing the hype.

I did the manatee and sea lion encounters and found the experience absolutely amazing. I was hesitant to go because I know that many companies like this aren't very humane to the animals. After visiting, I can't speak credibly about how this specific company is with the animals. However, I was happy to see that the dolphins and manatees were in large ocean-based pens. Also, the first manatees my group got in the water with weren't in the mood to interact. The tour operator moved our group to different manatees- definitely the right move to not force them. Some of the things I did in addition to the animal encounters were, 1- watch the sea lion show, 2-swim in their pool, 3- eat at the Dolphin View restaurant. All three of those were solid. In particular, hopping in the pool after visiting the sea lion habitat which didn't feel super clean (but was probably appropriate for the animals). The food at Dolphin View was good. Not mind blowing, but was included in the tour and included margaritas (yum!). There is a rental fee for lockers and the experience/cost of buying photos is horrible (as I anticipated). The photo packages are exorbitantly priced. However, they are somewhat negotiable if you begin to walk away. You aren't allowed to take your own photos. So, be ready to pay if you want them! Also, bring sandals or water shoes if you are visiting with dolphins or manatees. The ground is hot and the deck is splintery. Also, it is a long walk and you can leave your sandals on the dock. The ocean based in-water landing is slick, mossy, and is rough on your feet. So, water shoes are a great move if you want extra protection. Overall, I liked my visit and will cherish getting to interact with the animals. The interactions were long and there were multiple photo ops with the animals. I mean- who doesn't want a manatee kiss?! I had fun.

Two years ago, we did a different excursion with dolphins and my daughter was terrified of the splashing. This one felt way more kid friendly and calm. I definitely recommend it for families with younger kids, especially if they don't like salt water splashing all over them. The excursion also included access to the pool, unlimited food and drinks, and snorkeling. You do need to rent gear if you didn't bring your own. The line for food was long and no wet clothes were allowed inside. I had to get in line multiple times to bring food for my family. The service was amazing though. Israel kept our drinks coming.
