Out at sea with casa del buceo whale shark tours
    Ana A.

Absolutely the best in service! Tour to whale sharks was once in a lifetime experience. They take you out to sea and you are able to be out there with no rush, other companies limit your time and are twice the costs! Pablo, Enrique, Jose and Darwin all at your service. Very knowledgeable you feel safe out at sea with them. Highly recommended. Book your trip, tell them Anita and Fabian sent you. www.casadelbuceo.com

What an unforgettable experience. This place is quaint and very welcoming. If you want to feel like a local, this is it. Enrique made the whole experience that much better. He's an amazing guide. The colorful reef, the Musa Museum, the sea life...everything was perfect. I highly recommend this dive shop.

I typically never write reviews but this one was a must! We found this boutique place on Yelp and it was amazing!!!! Pablo picked us up from the ferry stop (free of cost) and Luis was our guide. For simply $60 US dollars- per person we got a private small boat, private captain (papo with over 20+++ years of experience) and private guide, Luis who swam with us to the 4 different spots around the island. The snorkeling was amazing! The water was yet blue... we saw fishes, turtles, corals etc.this was def one of the highlights of our honeymoon. I wish we could've done scuba diving but as they explained we needed more time away from flying the airplane back home. EVERY GUY in this place was either a professional fisher, diver, captain or local in the island. I can't say enough GREAT things about the attention they gave us!! Our guide Luis even helped another company with their snorkeling clients because their guide sucked and some ppl almost hit the coral.... Which they explained is not only dangerous but venomous. Who ever is in Cancun, tulum, playa del Carmen OR Isla mujeres needs try this place!!! This is one of the hidden gems for the price and all it includes: snorkeling, scuba diving, swimming with sharks OR anything else they offer.

I went on 4 dives, 2 each day for two days. I chose this small company because of reviews I read online and because I wanted to give business to a smaller business owner (versus a larger corporation). The owner (Pablo) was kind, informative, and helpful. He even drove me to a fantastic place for lunch today. The dive master Enrique was absolutely perfect. I felt safe with him. He made sure I knew what was going on at all times. He is quite competent and professional. One day the captain of the boat was Jesus, and one day it was Jose. The equipment was all in perfect working order and clean. I thought the costs were reasonable. I saw a few turtles, lots of colorful fish and coral, barracuda, puffer fish, lobsters, trumpet fish, moral eels, and some rays (sting rays I think). I would highly recommend these guys.

Speechless! Casa Del Buceo had impeccable service from the start. It was recommended to me by a coworker who had an amazing experience with whale shark snorkeling in July 2014. A few friends and I rinsed and repeated the same experience in late July 2015 and it did not fall short. Pablo, who is the owner, answered all my questions over the phone and we were booked. The day before our first whale shark excursion, Pablo and team saw 80-100 whale sharks, manta rays, and dolphins. We had Enrique as our snorkel-master and Jesus as our captain. They were a fabulous duo and Enrique makes you feel right at home by cracking jokes with you at the start. We saw at least 40 different whale sharks feeding when we got to the spot. The best things about Casa Del Buceo for phenomenal whale shark for are three-folds: - First in, first out. They have you arrive by 7am so you can be one of the first boats out there before all the other tourists arrive - Small and personalized. They stay away from the rest of the other tours so you can have a personalized tour of the whale sharks. They also take a maximum of 8 people per whale shark tour. - Special attention. Make sure you are not shy about what you want. Enrique will take one or two snorkelers on personalized tours later on so you can have a safe up close and personal encounter with the whale sharks (no touching them!) I've done whale shark tours in Western Australia and this was by far one of the most impeccable sea life tours I've ever been on. Enrique led me to see a very very large whale shark that we followed for 10 minutes. I got to swim right next to its gills for two minutes and even the front of its mouth while it was feeding for at least 30 seconds. I can't explain how great the entire tour was. We loved the team so much that we decided to book a last minute and same day night dive again with Captain Jesus and Dive Master Enrique. That night we got to see sleeping turtles, bioluminescent plankton, sea cucumbers, sea urchins, eels, spiny lobsters, sea stars, and a giant octopus - see my video for reference. It was an outstanding experience for only $70 USD. We are so excited we're booking yet another dive in our short 3 day trip in Isla Mujeres. I can't say any more incredible things about Casa Del Buceo except that they take really good care of you. Please do yourself a favor and leave the island of Cancun and come to Isla Mujeres even if it is to just dive or snorkel with Casa and talk to Pablo.

Coconut Scuba - If you are a first time scuba diver,…read moreuncertified as myself, and looking for an unreal and unique experience - this is perfect! My friend and I bought a discovery tour that included : - 1 lesson in the pool - 1 dive at the museum (Isla Mujeres) - 1 dive at the coral reef (Isla Mujeres) - boat ride (to the spots, but still nice) The instructors are so incredibly patient and kind! Personally, I had Manuel and Ulysses and they were personable, thoughtful, funny, and easy to understand. My friend and I felt extremely lucky to have such guidance in a first time experience! The layout of the day definitely took longer than we thought. The day started at 10, but they needed to drive us down to the new location. After our lesson, we actually waited an hour for a the certified divers to arrive so that we could all leave on the boat together. That did not bother myself and my friend, we just took a nap in the sun! But for anyone trying to have set plans afterwards, be mindful that you won't arrive back to port until 5:30/6pm. My friend and I were STARVING afterwards, having eaten light to help with nausea that can come with diving. I would recommend bringing a snack for AFTER your final dive, but eat fruit or granola and yogurt beforehand. The museum was actually prettier than I thought! I had believed that the museum was somewhat of a waste, but it was beautiful due to the wildlife that has taken root among the statues. I had never scuba dove, but had snorkeled and done snuba. If you have done these activities - you will feel right at home ! My friend had done none of these and caught on super quickly as well! The reef was spectacular. We saw many bright fish including the parrotfish! Yellow, blue, reds and orange, and even a small pufferfish. We saw a turtle once we got back onto the boat - timing is everything! If you are mindful of all the different coral and types of underwater sea life you can truly appreciate the dive regardless. You enter a new world and the time flies by as you soar over the reef. My friend made a comment that isn't as saturated with color, and I do think that is a good point. Don't expect neon edited colors, although some purple's did pop, as this is a natural place! Overall, I'd return to dive with coconut divers, and would recommend them to a friend.

I felt so comfortable and really came out of the course a better diver because of him! The rest of the crew was just as amazing and caring. Ulysses is a very skilled master who helped everyone really enjoy themselves. I was able to watch him with beginners doing a discovery during my cert dives and he was kind, patient, and helped them have the best time! My brother and sister in law also did their advanced cert with him and they had nothing but great things to say. Ricardo was a great captain and Poncho took incredible photos underwater for us! We saw so many amazing things and creatures during each dive (wreck, reefs, and underwater museum) and our favorite was the night dive! We saw a ton of rays at the wreck, spotted a shark, barracuda, eels, octopus, and many turtles, lobsters and crabs during the night dive. We had the best adventures even when the waters were a bit choppy because of the winds, we always felt very safe. They were so flexible and willing to take us out because we almost couldn't go due to the harbor closing because of high winds. They communicated constantly with us and when they found out the good news it would open, just later that day, they offered and we jumped at the opportunity to do the dives we planned! We stayed at the Riu Palace Peninsula and it was literally a couple minute walk across the street. We'll never forget our experiences with the crew and will definitely be back for more when come back to Cancun! Highly recommend for all levels and ages.

On the first day, we show up and the front desk has us sign some forms and start reading the PADI manual while we wait for the instructor. After being an hour late, the instructor finally shows up but says that because there was supposed to be another couple doing the course with us but they were a no show, he didn't want to go over the course twice, so he told us to go home to our hotel and read the manual. This was already ridiculous but we said whatever, we'll come back the next day. The next day my girlfriend gets food poisoning, so I call the company to discuss our options, such as doing the course the following day instead. The company contact, Jon, calls me back and says that the instructor gave them a totally different story, that he asked us if we wanted to do the course the first day and we willingly went home. (How does that make any sense?? Why would we take an expensive Taxi, wait there for two hours, then willingly go home without doing the course just because some other couple is not there?? Doesn't it logically make more sense that the instructor is trying to save face??). Jon blames the situation on miscommunication due to language barrier (the instructor spoke perfectly good English), and says that they will charge us for the cost of the books if we don't come back. Even if I went back to return the books, that costs either time or money away from our trip. Every time I tried to explain my side, Jon just kept spouting "oh we've been in business for 40 years, we've never had an issue..." as if any of that is relevant to the current situation. Do not book with this company! This has completely ruined my experience with scuba certification and does not make me want to do it ever again.

Booking process- We walked in - in person - to book the excursion. The employee was very friendly and professional. She explained everything throughly. My only gripe is they charge a 10 percent service charge to pay with a card. When the excursion is expensive - with a group - that charge can add up quickly. We were quoted $30-$35 USD cheaper all over the island. Based on a recommendation, we booked anyway - after walking to find an ATM - this was inconvenient. The excursion- The captain and guide were amazing. They took us out to swim with the whale sharks and we hit the jackpot. We also swam with mantas - which was awesome. On the way back, the captain made pitstop so the group could do a little snorkeling. Everyone loved it. Again, my only gripe was the service charge - if that wasn't there - or if it was around 3 percent - I would give a 5.
